  • Cron Job that Boots Screen at Start

    I am trying to set up a number of processes that start during boot (servers for games) with the below command as the cron item: @reboot /usr/bin/screen -fa -d -m -S NAME COMMAND However if the server crashes for what ever reason screen closes and the server doesn't get a chance to run it's auto restart (as far as I understand; screen sees no processes in the socket and so closes). Is there a way that I can get around this so screen will sit there even if nothing is running in it?

  • How to refresh tag list in org-mode without closing and reopening emacs

    In my emacs org-mode org file I have a tag list #+TAGS: OFFICE(o) COMPUTER(c) HOME(h) PROJECT READING(r) PHOTOGRAPHY(p) At some point, I wish to add a new tag to the list, and apply it to an item (using C-c C-c). But the new tag does not show up in the list of selectable tags. In order to fix this, I close and reopen emacs. But I'm sure that isn't necessary, How do I refresh this list without restarting emacs?

    Hi, I have a PC, when the user sends an item it's stuck in the outbox after sending. The strange thing is that the mails are being sent to the recepient. It's just that Outlook doesn't move it from Outbox to Sent Items...I checked all the settings and all is well. This is a POP3 account. What else can I check?

    It's always been hard for me to add a music folder with subfolders to Windows Media Player's playlist. I double click a file in the folder (or click on WMP shortcut), WMP opens, and I drag the other files or folders manually to the playlist. Isn't there an option to add a right-click context menu item that can automatically add all audio contents in a folder (with subfolders) to WMP playlist?

  • Finding Mail (32-bit) in the start menu

    I find myself often visiting the Mail control panel for people I'm helping who use Outlook. However, it never, ever shows up in the start menu for anyones computer: Is there some magic string I can type in to get that menu item? I've tried all the obvious ones: Mail Mail (32-bit) Mail 32 Bit But to no avail. Normally I just go the long way, but with Windows 8 and Metro I'm concerned I'm going to get very frustrated trying to talk users through it over the phone.

    Before the "preview pane" for google web search results came out from their labs, there already were userscripts to have a visual snapshot for each and every website in a web search query result. Now with the default preview, one needs to hover over the preview button for each site and gets a big (and slower) preview. The older, user-made solutions put the screenshot there for each result element. How could I achieve to get a screenshot statically for every item in the search result nowadays?

I have, for example, the following list, each item separated by comma: monkeys, dogs, cats pineapple, banana, orange yellow, red, blue, green silver, gold, platinum delphi, java, c++, visual basic I want to sort each line alphabetically, WITHOUT changing line order. My desired result would be: cats, dogs, monkeys banana, orange, pineapple blue, green, red, yellow gold, platinum, silver c++, delphi, java, visual basic My target list has got 3000+ lines, so it should be an automated process.   • How do you hide Windows 7 Explorer Toolbar and Property Bar?

    In Windows 7, Windows Explorer has a large bar just above the status bar that contains properties of the highlighted item. Is it possible to hide this? It takes up a significant amount of screen space I'd prefer using in the file listing. Also, is it possible to hide the tool bar for the same reason? That's what I'm calling the bar near the top with "Organize, Open, Include in Library, Share With..."

  • How do I update Safari on Windows?

    I'd like to update Safari to 4.0.5 for security reasons, but I can't figure out how to run the Apple updater manually. On Mac there's usually a "Check for Updates" menu item, but I don't see one on the Windows version. I tried downloading the latest version from http://www.apple.com/safari/download/, but Windows won't let me open the file, saying it is a security risk.

As soon as i click the "conrol panel" item in start items, it shows up a window and then its closed automatically ( same happens if i use "control" command).     I found this hard drive on NewEgg: Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST31500341AS 1.5TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive (bare drive) - OEM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148337 And there are quite a few substantial bad reviews about the drive freezing periodically. If you search for a bit, you can find several forums with people having problems, but of course forums don't get updated when resolutions to those problems are found. I'm just wondering, does anyone know what the final verdict regarding the freezing issue with these hard drives is?

  • How to remove folder from Explorer's jump list

    I'm using Windows 7 and Windows Explorer some folders were added to the taskbar jump list (under the Frequent section) that no longer exist. When I try to remove those folders from the jump list (using context menu's "Remove from this list" option) nothing happens and the folders are still shown. When I try to access those non-existing folders windows prompts that selected item is not available and asks whether I want to remove it from the list. Regardless if I select "Yes" or "No" the folder still remains in the list.

    In IIS 7, is there a way to set two urls on the same site to allow http and https, and the rest to be https only? - http://mysite/url1 or https://mysite/url1 is accepted and stays on that protocol. - http://mysite/url2 or https://mysite/url2 is accepted and stays on that protocol. - any other item, i.e. http://mysite/whatever redirects to https://mysite/whatever - https://mysite/whatever is accepted.     I'm trying to remove the Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime (x64). It says it's uninstalled when I try to remove it from Control Panel->Programs and Features, but the list item is still there, and if I try to remove it again, it brings up the prompt to install it. How do I get rid of this program completely (or at least remove it from the add/remove list)? I don't have Microsoft Office installed (or Visual Studio).
