• Aborted core dumped C++

  I have a large C++ function which uses OpenCV library and running on Windows with cygwin g++ compiler. At the end it gives Aborted(core dumped) but the function runs completely before that. I have also tried to put the print statement in the end of the function. That also gets printed. So I think there is no logical bug in code which will generate the fault. Please explain. I am also using assert statements.But the aborted error is not due to assert statement. It does not say that assertion failed. It comes at end only without any message. Also the file is a part of a large project so I cannot post the code also.

• Why maven is not working in eclipse indigo?

  I'm trying to make a simple log in/ log out web application with maven and I'm creating the project with the command: " mvn archetype:generate " and choose 341 and it'll be created with the structure below: webapp -----src/main/java -----Referenced Libraries -----Maven Dependencies -----src -----target pom.xml But when I add some dependencies and update the project something weird happening with the structure of the project according to the picture below: webapp -----src/main/java -----Referenced Libraries -----JRE System Library -----src -----target pom.xml and it's not working any more. As you can see the the first one has a Maven dependencies Library but the second one has been changed to JRE System Library. I use mac os lion and eclipse indigo. Anyone how knows why is like that?   I have tried to embed a flash movie in a zend view using the htmlFlash helper. In theory you only have to pass the movie path to the htmlFlash helper in a phtml view: echo $this-htmlFlash('/path/to/myMovie.swf'); And the framework will generate the html code in the html page: <object data="/path/to/flash.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab"> </object> However, I have done so and the code doesn't appear on the source code.   I've seen the other examples on this site but I just can't get it to work. I'm trying to generate a random number between 2 user input variables on a form. The numbers will always be positive numbers. min = document.getElementById('min').value; max = document.getElementById('max').value; waitTimer = Math.floor(Math.random() * (max - min + 1)) + min; When min = 5 / max = 10, waitTimer is sometimes returning results like 2, 4 and 28 and so on. What am I doing wrong?

• Running Firefox in the Windows service mode

  I'm writing a server running as a Windows service that by request invokes Firefox to generate a pdf snapshot of a webpage. I know it is a bad idea to run a GUI program in service mode, but the server nature of my program restricts from running it in the user mode. Running a user-level 'proxy' also is not an option, since there might be no interactive user logged-in on the machine with the server running. In my experiments Firefox successfully produced pdf when the service was running under a user account that was already logged-in. Obviously it didn't work in other cases: for Local System and user accounts that weren't logged-in. Under LocalSystem with 'Allow service to interact with desktop' option enabled I could see the Firefox started that reports that it's unable to find a printer. Since it wouldn't be practical to require an opened user session for the pdf server to run, is there any workaround for this except running the whole thing from a virtual machine?

When i incorporate it into a larger script though the variable never seems to get created for some reason, so for example this doesn't work: DBPASS=</dev/urandom tr -dc A-Za-z0-9| (head -c $1 > /dev/null 2>&1 || head -c 8) sed -i s/oldpass/$DBPASS/ mysql_connect.php If i manually set the variable though everything is fine.. can anyone see why?

  I'm just getting started with Groovy/Grails. I added a new domain controller to my project, and generate-controller doesn't like it. There are other indications something's wrong: If I run the app no table is actually created in the database for this. I've reduced the DomainController to one String field and no constraints, just to make sure there wasn't something wrong with my specification. I also tried renaming it, just in case there was something about the original name (Privacy) that conflicted with something. I'm sure I have the correct name, and that the file is called PrivacyOptions.groovy and inside the class is also called PrivacyOptions. Here's the error: Running script /opt/local/grails/scripts/GenerateController.groovy Environment set to development Domain class not found in grails-app/domain, trying hibernate mapped classes... • Pseudorandom Number Generation with Specific Non-Uniform Distributions

  Hello all, I'm writing a program that simulates various random walks (with differing distributions). At each timestep, I need randomly generated, two dimensional step distances and angles from the distribution of the random walk. I'm hoping someone can check my understanding of how to generate these random numbers. As I understand it I can use Inverse Transform Sampling as follows: If f(x) is the pdf of our random walk that has a non-uniform distribution, and y is a random number from a uniform distribution. Then if we let f(x) = y and solve to find x then we have a random number from the non-uniform distribution. Is this a feasible solution?

  My question is rather complicated for me to explain, as i'm not really good at maths, but i'll try to be as clear as possible. I'm trying to code a cluster in python, which will generate words given a charset (i.e. with lowercase: aaaa, aaab, aaac, ..., zzzz) and make various operations on them. I'm searching how to calculate, given the charset and the number of nodes, what range each node should work on (i.e.: node1: aaaa-azzz, node2: baaa-czzz, node3: daaa-ezzz, ...). Is it possible to make an algorithm that could compute this, and if it is, how could i implement this in python? I really don't know how to do that, so any help would be much appreciated

  in C++ Primer 4th edition 2.1.1, it says "when assigning an out-of-range value to a signed type, it is up to the compiler to decide what value to assign". I can't understand it. I mean, if you have code like "char 5 = 299", certainly the compiler will generate asm code like "mov BYTE PTR _sc$[ebp], 43"(VC) or "movb $43, -2(%ebp)"(gcc+mingw), it IS decided by the compiler. but what if we assign a value that is given by the user input? like, via command line? and the asm code generated will be "movb %al, -1(%ebp)"(gcc+mingw) and " mov cl, BYTE PTR _i$[ebp] mov BYTE PTR _sc$[ebp], cl "(VC), so now how can compiler decide what will happen? I think now it is decided by the CPU. Can you give me a clear explanation?

  I generate 2 instances in this way: gameManager manager1 = new CTManager(owner,players1,"en"); manager1.start(); gameManager manager2 = new CTManager(owner,players2,"en"); manager2.start(); The start() method of the gameManager looks like that: void start() { game.start(); } When I create the game instance I create a loger: log = Logger.getLogger("TestLog"); (log is a public field of the class in which the game belongs). In the game.start() I run many processes and give them a reference to the corresponding log. So, I expect that manager1 and manager2 will write to different files. But manager2 writes to its own file and to the log file of the manager1. Why can it happen?

• Caching images with different query strings (S3 signed urls)

  I'm trying to figure out if I can get browsers to cache images with signed urls. What I want is to generate a new signed url for every request (same image, but with an updated signature), but have the browser not re-download it every time. So, assuming the cache-related headers are set correctly, and all of the URL is the same except for the query string, is there any way to make the browser cache it? The urls would look something like: http://example.s3.amazonaws.com/magic.jpg?WSAccessKeyId=stuff&Signature=stuff&Expires=1276297463 http://example.s3.amazonaws.com/magic.jpg?WSAccessKeyId=stuff&Signature=stuff&Expires=1276297500 We plan to set the e-tags to be an md5sum, so will it at least figure out it's the same image at that point? My other option is to keep track of when last gave out a url, then start giving out new ones slightly before the old ones expire, but I'd prefer not to deal with session info.

  Hi All, I am involved in this project where we are building on good bit of legacy code. I have a particular situation about one big java bean object which has to be transferred over wire. So my first thought was to make it immutable and serializable to do the trick .At this point I am faced with a few difficult choices :- 1 Ideally I want some way to automatically generate an immutable, serializable version of this class. I dont have the scope to refactor or alter this class in any way and i would really really hate to have to copy paste the class with a different name ?? 2 Assuming that i gave up on 1 i.e i actually chose to duplicate code of the HUGE javabean class , i still will be in the unsavoury situation of having to write a constructor with some 20-25 parameters to make this class immutable. what is a better way to make a class immutable other than constructor injection ?? • Can I use part of MD5 hash for data identification?

  I use MD5 hash for identifying files with unknown origin. No attacker here, so I don't care that MD5 has been broken and one can intendedly generate collisions. My problem is I need to provide logging so that different problems are diagnosed easier. If I log every hash as a hex string that's too long, inconvenient and looks ugly, so I'd like to shorten the hash string. Now I know that just taking a small part of a GUID is a very bad idea - GUIDs are designed to be unique, but part of them are not. Is the same true for MD5 - can I take say first 4 bytes of MD5 and assume that I only get collision probability higher due to the reduced number of bytes compared to the original hash?

  I have the following tables below City --------- CityID StateID Name Description Reports --------- ReportID HeaderID FooterID Description I’m trying to generate a grid for use in a .Net control (Gridview, Listview…separate issue about which will be the ‘best’ one to use for my purposes) which will assign the reports as the columns and the cities as the rows. Which cities get displayed is based on the state selected, and is easy enough SELECT * FROM CITIES WHERE STATEID=@StateID However, the user is able to select which reports are being generated for each City (Demographics, Sales, Land Area, etc.). Further, the resultant cells (City * Report) is a sub-query on different tables based on the city selected and the report. Ie. Column Sales selected yields SELECT * FROM SALES WHERE CITYID=@CityID I’ve programmed a VERY inelegant solution using multiple queries and brute-forcing the grid to be created (line by line, row by row creation of data elements), but I’m positive there’s got to be a better way of accomplishing this…? Any / all suggestions appreciated here as the brute force approach I’ve gotten is slow and cumbersome…and this will have to be used often by the client, so I’m not sure it’ll be acceptable in it’s current implementation.

For e.g. $authadv_new="insert into test.authad values ('".mysql_real_escape_string($sales->NEW1)."','".mysql_real_escape_string($sales->NEW2)."','".mysql_real_escape_string($sales->NEW3)."','" ... Is there any way to automate this? I mean the PHP code should be able to anticipate the parameters and generate the mysql_real_escape_string($sales-NEW1) to NEW10 values using a loop.

  I'm wondering how Instapaper (bookmarklet that saves text) might generate URLs for their bookmarklet. Mine has a script src of something similar to www.instapaper.com/j/AnJHrfoDTRia The quality of these URLs is that they need to never collide, and not be really guessable (so other people can't save to your account). I know a simple approach might be to MD5 their email address (presumed to have been checked on signup for uniqueness), but then I'd end up with a super long string. This isn't a huge issue, but I'm wondering what techniques there are for shorter GUIDs that won't collide too often (this is obviously the tradeoff, but 12 characters above is pretty short in my opinion)

  Hi, I need to parse command line arguments in C. My arguments are basically int or float with default values and range constrains. I've started to implement something that look like this: option_float(float* out, int argc, char* argv, char* name, description, float default_val, int is_optional, float min_value, float max_value) which I call for example with: float* pct; option_float(pct, argc, argv, "pct", "My super percentage option", 50, 1, FALSE, 0, 100) however I don't want to reinvent the wheel ! My objective is to have error checking of range constrains, throw an error when the option is not optional and is not set. And generate the help message usually given by usage() function. The usage text would look like this: --pct My super percentage option (default : 50). Should be in [0, 100] I've started with getopt but it is too limited for what I want to do and I feel it still requires me to write too much code for a simple usecase like this. thanks

• Combining XSLT transforms

  Is there a way to combine two XSLT documents into a single XSLT document that does the same as transforming using the original two in sequence? i.e. Combining XSLTA and XSLTB into XSLTC such that XSLTB( XSLTA( xml )) == XSLTC( xml )? There's three reasons I'd like to be able to do this: Simplifies development; some operations need sequential transforms, and although I can generate a combined one by hand, it's a lot more difficult to maintain that two much simpler, separate transforms. Speed; one transform is in most cases hopefully faster than two. I'm currently working on a program that literally just transforms a data file in XML into an XHTML page capable of editing it using one XSLT, and a second XSLT that transforms the XHTML page back into the data file when it's saved. One test I hope to be able to do is to combine the two, and easily confirm that the 'combined' XSLT should leave the data unchanged.

How can I automate this kind of code.So that I dont need to write new function from scratch.Basically what I need is if i provide parametres like ("quantity",prodtype) through some text file or xml, it should generate the required function with the input parametres. Is this task can be handled through C++ tempalte Meta programming or someother code generation tool will help me to do this?
