  I have two types of strings as the IDs of elements in my HTML markup: Dates: "april-23" "march-20" and season names: "springtime" "winter" The dates have a dash separating the month and the day. The seasons are a single word with no other tokens. I want to assign the month or the season to a new variable called: time_of_year If I do this: var time_of_year = $(this).attr("id").split('-')[0]; It will work on the months but if I call it on a season name which does not contain the token, will it generate an error? What's the safe way to do this?

• Randomly generating sequence of ints in a specific range

  Hi, I am unsure how to put this and my math skills aren't that strong. But here's what I need. I want to generate a list of all the 16bit integers (0-65535). But everytime I do so I want to seed the algorithm randomly that each time the list starts with a different integer and all the subsequent integers will be generated once but also in random order. small example (1-5): ... 1, 5, 3, 2, 4 4, 3, 1, 5, 2 2, 1, 4, 5, 3 ... Any help?

• Activiti Engine: Task Event - User is null

  I have a problem, which should be simple to solve, but i can't find the method to call to solve this problem: My problem is, that every Task Event (org.activiti.engine.task.Event) returnes null by calling Event.getUserId(); If I take a look into the database I see that the database table ACT_HI_COMMENT has null as value for the column USER_ID_ for every row. I generate these TaskEvents programmatically by calling (for example) processEngine.getTaskService().addComment(task.getId(), null, commentMessage); processEngine.getTaskService().addUserIdentityLink(task.getId(), user.getId(), IDENTITY_LINK_OBSERVER); I guess there is a simple method that I must call to solve this problem, something like processEngine.setCurrentUser(authenticatedUser.getId()); Any suggestions?

• Wordpress SQL_CALC fix causes PHP error

  I'm looking for some followup on an older topic for Wordpress where SQL_CALC was found to slow things down when you have a large DB in Wordpress. I have been using the code, at the bottom of this post, to get around it but it does generate an error in my error log. How would I prevent this error?   I am using a custom route handler for a webforms application. I am using routes to determine localization. ie: if the url has es or fr in the route it will load either spanish or french resources. for example: www.someroute/es/checkstuff/checkstuff.aspx will load: www.someroute/checkstuff/checkstuff.aspx with the spanish resources. I am configuring the custom routes in global.asax via: protected void Application_Start(object sender, EventArgs e) { RegisterRoutes(RouteTable.Routes); } public static void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes) { foreach (var value in _customRoutes) { routes.Add(value.RouteName, new Route(value.Route, new CustomRouteHandler(value.ResolvedRoute))); } } where _customroutes is a list of routes. Is there a way to do this with some kind of pattern matching so I can avoid adding a specific route for each page in the application. While I know I could use a t4 template to generate the routes, I guess I am looking for a dynamic way to create the list

  I have 4 tables: tempTBL, linksTBL and categoryTBL, extra on my tempTBL I have: ID, name, url, cat, isinserted columns on my linksTBL I have: ID, name, alias columns on my categoryTBL I have: cl_id, link_id,cat_id on my extraTBL I have: id, link_id, value How do I do a single query to select from tempTBL all items where isinsrted = 0 then insert them to linksTBL and for each record inserted, pickup ID (which is primary) and then insert that ID to categoryTBL with cat_id = 88. after that insert extraTBL ID for link_id and url for value. I know this is so confusing, put I'll post this anyhow... This is what I have so far: INSERT IGNORE INTO linksTBL (link_id,link_name,alias) VALUES(NULL,'tex2','hello'); # generate ID by inserting NULL INSERT INTO categoryTBL (link_id,cat_id) VALUES(LAST_INSERT_ID(),'88'); # use ID in second table I would like to add here somewhere that it only selects items where isinserted = 0 and iserts those records, and onse inserted, will change isinserted to 1, so when next time it runs, it will not add them again.

  I have an endpoint that takes GET requests to collect data from any source that wants to send data. Is there a way to run some validation that the data is in fact coming from the sources we allowed? They enter the website url that they will be sending the data from and we generate an api key. The data is sent via a javascript file that they install onto their website. I have the Access-Control-Allow-Origin set to * as it doesn't necessarily scale to add in hundreds or more websites to that header and that in itself is a security risk as it shows anyone who wants to look at the headers who uses the script. Currently I am thinking of using the http_origin / origin referrer, but obviously that doesn't do too much

  I am trying to use Swing Timer and I wanted to start from a very simple program. I have a window with text: "You have n seconds", where n changes from 10 to 0 every second. I know how to generate a window with text. And I understand how Timer works (it starts an action periodically). But I cannot figure out how to combing this two things. Should I use that: JLabel label = new JLabel(myMessage); and then with timer I need to update the "myMessage" variable? But I think I need to "force" my window to "update" itself (to display a new value stored in "myMessage").

• Prevent .htaccess syntax error

  Hi, As part of one our system's we enable a user in the backoffice to add a block of 301 redirects should they need to. This is just a textarea which then populates a specific area of a .htaccess file. As much as this may seem insecure it has only previously used internally by people who know what they are doing but for various reasons they cannot access the specific file. We need now to allow more access to this function, not for the general public, but for people that probably have far less knowledge of regexp etc and syntax in htaccess files. Obviously the major concern here is the user enters some bad syntax and makes their entire site, including the backoffice where they could fix the issue, totally inaccessible without manual intervention. What approaches can i take to make sure that they do not break their site? A htaccess syntax check? copy the file elsewhere and check it doesnt generate a 500 error (with cURL or similar)?. Would welcome any ideas. Thanks.

  I want to have a pivot with many PivotItems. However, doing so will impact memory. So I bind pivot to my ViewModel, which has 3 item, and pivot will generate 3 PivotItems. My ViewModel is of type ObservableCollection and my item does implement INotifyPropertyChanged. This works fine. But when I update my ViewModel, only the current PivotItem, and the right PivotItem is updated. The left PivotItem, which is off screen, is not updated. You can see it when you drag pivot to the left. How to fix this? Or WP7 doesnot update off screen PivotItem ?

• Display continious dates in Pivot Chart

  I have a set of data in a pivot table with date times and events. I've made a pivot chart with this data, and grouped the data by day and year, then display a count of events for each day. So, my horizontal axis goes from 19 March 2007 to 11 May 2010, and my vertical axis is numeric, going from zero to 140. For some days, I have zero events. These days don't seem to be shown on the horizontal axis, so 2008 is narrower than 2009. How do I display a count of zero for days with no events? I'd like my horizontal axis to be continuous, so that it does not miss any days, and every month ends up taking up the same amount of horizontal space. (This question is similar to the unanswered question here, but I'd rather not generate a table of all the days in the last x number of years just to get a smooth plot!)

  This is a very strange problem and i really dont have a clue whats causing it. What is supposed to happen is that a call to the BLL then DAL returns some data via a linq SPROC call. The retunred IMultipleResults object is processed and all results stored in a hashtable. The hashtable is stored in session and then the UI layer uses these results to dynamically generate some gridviews. Easy you would think. But if i run the code i dont get any gridviews. If i take out the call to the BLL and DAL the gridviews appear but with nothing in them? Why is it the page renders correctly when i take out the call to get the data? Thanks.

  Hi, using buffered send and non blocking send I was wondering how and if they implement a new level of parallelism in my application eventually generating a thread. Imagine that a slave process generates a large amount of data and want to send it to the master. My idea was to start a buffered or non blocking send then immediately begin to compute the next result. Just when I would have to send the new data I wold check if I can reuse the buffer. This would introduce a new level of parallelism in my application between CPU and communication. Does anybody knows how this is done in MPI ? Does MPI generate a new thread to handle the Bsend or Isend ? Thanks.

I have set options to generate map and .jdbg files. Other functions, like ProcByLevel work fine. Is there something else I need to do to make JclLastExceptStackListToStrings work? • How can I find all the trunks from several different Subversion servers?

  We have many SVN Repo's but many of them have nested projects. I need some way of finding the trunk directories only and creating a list of them. So, the svn path to trunk might be svn://svnserver/repos/myproject/trunk or it might be svn://svnserver/repos/myproject/mysubproject/trunk I need to generate a list of /trunk directories from several different servers. Is there a method for doing that? Has anyone seen a script (sh, perl, whatever) for doing something similar? I just need a hint on how to get started.

• Creating WebService test harness

  Hello, I am trying to create a test harness for our QA staff to test our internal web services. I would like to create a web app that will allow them to enter a uri then submit. The web app will then interrogate the uri to get the appropriate parameters expected and returns with a generated input form. I know, this would be similar to SOAPUI and others. However, I feel it would be earier for them to be able to just use a form with entry fields and click a button to invoke the service and get the results back for display in the web app. In addition, I could create some custom logic that allows them to generate specific behavior they need. Has anybody done anything like this? I have searched and have found similar functionality but nothing close enough to help me. If you need more details please let me know.   So I keep having this small problem where I have something like func :: a -> b -> [a] -- or basically any a-> ...-> [a] where ... is any types -> func x y = func' [x] y -- as long as they are used to generate a list of [a] from x func' :: [a] -> b -> [a] func = undefined --situation dependant generates a list from each element and returns it as one long list should I keep it like this? should I use func' hidden by a where? should I only use the [a] - b - [a] version and leave the responsibility of passing [variable] to the callee? I might well need to compose these functions and might want to mess around with the order so I'm leaning towards option 3. What do you think?

• .NET web service call slower when performed asynchronously

  I have an ASP.NET site, and some pages need to call a web service. I used Visual Studio's "Add Web Reference" to auto-generate classes and methods for the web service. When I call the service synchronously, i.e. objService.MethodName("param1"), a call might take a second or so. When I call it asynchronously, i.e., objService.BeginMethodName("param1", AddressOf MyCallback, Nothing), it typically takes about 6 seconds. When debugging, it appears that the bulk of the time is spent waiting between the completion of the BeginMethodName call and the beginning of MyCallback. Does the thread switching really incur that much overhead? Is there another reason for this?

• SWIG interface file questions

  I am writing a C/C++ extension module for other languages and I am using SWIG to generate the bindings. I have two questions Can I include more than 1 header file in the declaration part of the interface file e.g.: /* Declarations exposed to wrapper: */ > %{ > #define SWIG_FILE_WITH_INIT > #include "a.h" > #include "b.h" > #include "c.h" %} In all of the examples I have seen so far, after the header include declaration (as shown above), the functions declared in the header are then declared again in the interface file. Is this really necessary, as it means there are two copies of the function declarations that need to be maintained. Note: I can appreciate that some functions/methods declaration may need to be 'decorated' with the 'newobject' declaration so these obviously need to be in the interface file, to avoid memory leaks - however, I would have though that it would be sufficient to include the headers and then ONLY the declarations of the functions/methods that need to be declared with 'newobject' - is this recommended way of doing things?

  Hi everyone, I am experiencing a problem that has popped up recently and is causing quite a bit of trouble for our system. The app we have relies on using the movedown method to organize content, but as of late it has stopped working and began to generate the following warning: Warning (2): array_values() [<a href='function.array-values'>function.array-values</a>]: The argument should be an array in [/usr/local/home/cake/cake_0_2_9/cake/libs/model/behaviors/tree.php, line 459] The line being referenced: list($node) = array_values($Model->find('first', array( 'conditions' => array($scope, $Model->escapeField() => $id), 'fields' => array($Model->primaryKey, $left, $right, $parent), 'recursive' => $recursive ))); The line calling the method: $this->movedown($id,abs((int)$position)); I have exhausted every idea I could come up with. Has anyone else crossed this issue before? Any help, or pointing in a direction would be much appreciated!
