The integration will allow customers to improve service quality and take advantage of apps-to-disk SLAs through compatibility with a wide range of SDN devices, applications and services. It will also allow them to use a common and open SDN platform with OpenStack to manage Oracle Solaris-based clouds. The OpenDaylight Project is a community-led and industry-supported open source platform to advance SDN and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV).

  When the concepts of Object Oriented Programming were introduced to programmers years back it looks interesting and programming was cleaner. OOP was like this Stock stock = new Stock(); stock.addItem(item); stock.removeItem(item); That was easier to understand with self-descriptive name. But now OOP, with pattern like Data Transfer Objects (or Value Objects), Repository, Dependency Injection etc, has become more complex. • Oracle Unveils Oracle Java Embedded Suite 7.0

  Today Oracle announced the Oracle Java Embedded Suite 7.0. What is the Java Embedded Suite (JES)? It's a middleware stack designed to be run on embedded devices. It's a suite which includes an application server (Glassfish for Embedded Suite), database (Java DB), and web services (Jersey Web Services Framework). Putting these services on the embedded device gives you the ability to provide a set of services at the device point. It also lets you aggregate data at the device point, which you can later sync with your enterprise systems.

  I blogged about the difference and similarities between AWS CloudFormations and Oracle Assembler builder to package your software stack for deployment/provisioning to the cloud. However, these tools do not deal with software stack versioning and configuration management. This is where tools like Chef and Puppet come into play. Puppet and Chef points of interest: 1. Can be used in any cloud environment (rackspace, private cloud etc). 2. There is a debate between which is better. I am not going to get into this debate other then to say Puppet is more mature. 3.   posted by Maurice Bauhahn Remote Diagnostic Agent (RDA) version 4.30 was released on December 11th A free download can be accessed via Knowledge Management article 314422.1 and installed in any Enterprise Performance Management 11.1.2.x environment. EPM-specific instructions are available in Knowledge Management article 1304885.1. This RDA version incorporates two new modules (EAS=Essbase Administration Services; HWA=Hyperion Web Analysis) and improvements in modules and profiles relating to twelve other Hyperion applications (EPM, EPMA, ESS, FCM, HFM, HFR, HIR, HPL, HPSV, HSS, PR, and HSV). To follow best practice, run related RDA profiles [for example: "perl rda.pl -vnSCRPp Hyperion1112_EAS"] and attach the output zip file [by default in \rda\output\] to your service requests. The comprehensive set of details provided in such output files should help technicians to avoid delays in handling service requests (by avoiding ping-pong communications resulting from repeated requests for additional values).

• Getting Started Quickly

  If you're interested in using Ops Center, you'll want to get up and running as quickly and effectively as possible. One way to do this would be to work your way through the documentation library - use the Linux or Oracle Solaris install guides, then go through the Feature Guide and Admin Guide to start using the software. They're thorough, but they're a lot of reading. But if you're looking to install a simple deployment quickly, and you don't want to do all of the configuration work right off the bat, you can use the Quick Start Guide. It's a streamlined procedure that runs you through installing a single Enterprise Controller and co-located Proxy Controller, and then shows you how to discover assets quickly. Once you've discovered these assets, it describes how to use the analytics feature to view their performance, and use monitoring to keep track of their statuses and health. You'll have to do some additional configuration to use features like OS provisioning, OS updates, and virtualization, but the Quick Start guide gives you an overview of how to install and start using features quickly.

• Apple Gets the Message About Centralized Notifications on Mobile

  Yep, looks like iOS5 introduces a centralized messaging system: the Notification Center. Wonder where they got that idea from? Seriously, way to go though; this matches and probably betters what I really like about Android’s notifications system. I’ll have to check it out myself, though. Application UX's own research confirmed the centralized approach as something users wanted in research last year. This feature will really help the iOS in the enterprise user market too. Up to now, iOS is pretty dismal in the notifications space IMO.
