• Bypass system sound setting objective c

  Hi. I have an app that Is supposed to play a AudioServicesPlayAlertSound(); but I've noticed on the iPod touch 1G, the sound will only play if the system sound setting is set to speaker or both. Is there a way to bypass this setting, because I know it works when the setting is not set to headphones. Also, if it is not possible, is there a way to alert the user to change this setting? I have a iPod touch 1G to test with, just incase. Wondering, HiGuy (CouleeApps)

  I'm having trouble figuring out a way to curry a function a specified number of times. That is, I give the function a natural number n and a function fun, and it curries the function n times. For example: (curry n fun) Is the function and a possible application would be: (((((curry 4 +) 1) 2) 3) 4) Which would produce 10. I'm really not sure how to implement it properly. • Play sound in mobile browser?

  I want to make myself a web based stop watch for training that I can use on my Blackberry mobile browser. The stopwatch should count 3 minutes, then ring a bell, wait 1 minute, then ring another bell and then repeat. My problem is I can't seem to get sound to work on my blackberry browser. I tried using <embed src="bell.wav"> which works fine in the browser of a normal computer, but it doesn't make a sound on my blackberry. Should I build this stopwatch with Javascript and HTML or should I build it with flash?

Pretty much, I have 8 sound files laid out in an array.xml file and I need to play a randomly chosen file ONCE per or onClick or onShake. First off, what technique should I use to achieve this? • Suggestion for creating custom sound recognition software to toggle audio

  I need to develop a program that toggles a particular audio track on or off when it recognizes a parrot scream or screech. The software would need to recognize a particular range of sounds and allow some variations in the range (as a parrot likely won't replicate its sreeches EXACTLY each time). Example: Bird screeches, no audio. Bird stops screeching for five seconds, audio track praising the bird plays. Regular chattering needs to be ignored completely, as it is not to be discouraged. I've heard of java libraries that have speech recognition with dictionaries built in, but the software would need to be taught the particular sounds that my particular parrot makes - not words or any random bird sound. In addition as I mentioned above, it would need to allow for slight variation in the sound, as the screech will likely never be 100% identical to the recorded version. What would be the best way to go about this/what language should I look into?

  I am currently working through SICP using Guile as my primary language for the exercises. I have found a strange behavior while implementing the exercises in chapter 3.5. I have reproduced this behavior using Guile 1.4, Guile 1.8.6 and Guile 1.8.7 on a variety of platforms and am certain it is not specific to my setup. This code works fine (and computes e): (define y (integral (delay dy) 1 0.001)) (define dy (stream-map (lambda (x) x) y)) (stream-ref y 1000) The following code should give an identical result: (define (solve f y0 dt) (define y (integral (delay dy) y0 dt)) (define dy (stream-map f y)) y) (solve (lambda (x) x) 1 0.001) But it yields the error message: standard input:7:14: While evaluating arguments to stream-map in expression (stream-map f y): standard input:7:14: Unbound variable: y ABORT: (unbound-variable) So when embedded in a procedure definition, the (define y ...) does not work, whereas outside the procedure in the global environment at the REPL it works fine. What am I doing wrong here? I can post the auxiliary code (i.e., the definitions of integral, stream-map etc.) if necessary, too. With the exception of the system-dependent code for cons-stream, they are all in the book.   I get a lot of attention at work because I am the only one who bothered to change the default color settings in Visual Studio. I just modified them myself. I can provide the settings file if anyone cares to import it. Here's an example of how it looks. It reminds me of DOS/BASIC programming before I actually knew how to program. I also find it to be very readable. What color schemes do you use?! EDIT: To clarify, I only edited the text settings. The windows and panels of VS2005 are still the windows default.

Just for starters I would like to be able to take this in '(+ 1 2) and have it evaluate the expression + where the quote usually takes off the evaluation.
