• Please explain syntax rules and scope for "typedef"

  What are the rules? OTOH the simple case seems to imply the new type is the last thing on a line. Like here Uchar is the new type. typedef unsigned char Uchar; But a function pointer is completely different. Here the new type is pFunc: typedef int (*pFunc) (int); I can't think of any other examples offhand but I have come across some very confusing usages. So are there rules or are people just suppose to know from experience that this is how it is done because they have seen it done this way before? ALSO: What is the scope of a typedef.   hello everybody, i'm looking for a technique to adapt a html listbox to hierarchical content with an unlimited number of levels ( const 1 would be sufficient ). hierarchy levels should be collapsible as in the usual file explorer views. the html listbox behaviour should be preserved / mimicked as comprehensively as possible. do you have a hint on where to find or how to implement this ? jquery solutions are fine. firefox 3.5+, ie 8+, safari 5 must be supported; opera 11, chrome 9 would be nice. as far as i understand the issue, listbox contents are rendered inside their own browser window sporting none of the standard window adornments. a hint on how to obtain a handle on this window in js would be a sufficient starting point, as well as correcting me in case i misconceived the browser behaviour. thanks in advance for your efforts, best regards, carsten

  Hi all, I have two questions about Google's dense_hash_map, which can be used instead of the more standard unordered_map or hash_map: How do I use an arbitrary binary data memory segment as a key: I want a buffer+length pair, which may still contain some NUL (\0) characters. I can see how I use a NUL-terminated char * string , but that's not what I want. How do I implement an operation where I look if a key exists, and if not - insert it and if it does return the pointer to the existing key and let me know what actually happened.   Hi, I'd like to make a textbox that accepts only numbers, but not integer, but rather double. I've read here about e.Handled = Not Char.IsDigit(e.KeyChar) and it works, but again, it can be used only for integer, since it declines decimal point. Another thing I've read here is If Not Double.TryParse(TextBox2.Text, value) Then .... and it would work fine, except that it allows only decimal comma instead of point. I don't know whether it's because of my location settings (Hungary, we use commas instead of points), but I don't have any other idea how to solve my problem, and the SQL server I send my data uses decimal point.   Hey, I want to add a parameter to a URL but currently it isnt showing in the $_GET global. A snippet from my htaccess file is as below: RewriteRule ^account/blogs/([0-9]+)/([^\s?]+)/?$ /account/blog.php?blogId=$1 [L,QSA] Then in my php code i want to add a link such as: /account/blogs/1/ThisIsWhereTheTitleGoes?delete=1 The wildcard (any char but space) option is for the blog title as i never know what it would be. I know want to add a query string param on the end such as ?delete=1. I however dont want this as part of the rewrite. Does anybody know how to so this? Thanks

  Once I've mapped my domain in NHibernate, how can I reverse lookup those mappings somewhere else in my code? Example: The entity Pony is mapped to a table named "AAZF1203" for some reason. (Stupid legacy database table names!) I want to find out that table name from the NH mappings using only the typeof(Pony) because I have to write a query elsewhere.   What exactly happens, in terms of memory, when i declare something like: char arr[4]; How many bytes are reserved for arr? How is null string accommodated when I 'strcpy' a string of length 4 in arr? I was writing a socket program, and when I tried to suffix NULL at arr[4] (i.e. the 5th memory location), I ended up replacing the values of some other variables of the program (overflow) and got into a big time mess. Any descriptions of how compilers (gcc is what I used) manage memory?

  I have a real basic command-line program, in Objective-C, that searches for user inputed information. Unfourtunately, the code will only read the first word in series of words that the user enters. For example, if the user enters in "Apples are great", only "Apples" is kept (and hence searched later on), excluding the "are great" part of the sentence.   Hello, Is there a way to serialize enums automatically as int? Every time I define a new enum and write std::stringstream stream; stream << myenum1; stream >> myenum2; the compiler complains that the operators << and are not defined. Do you know a way to tell the compiler to treat enums as plain int's? What makes the problem harder is that, actually, the serialization is inside a template. Something like this: template <typename T> void serialize(const T& value) { std::stringstream stream; stream << value; } So I cannot add any casts :( Maybe I can specialize it somehow? Thank you.
