• ASP.NET MVC: An Error has occured when trying to create a controller

  I have got the following error a few times in my MVC applications, and have only managed to get past it by recreating my entire solution from scratch. The error message says make sure there is a paramaterless public constructor, but of course there is one. What else could this error refer to? • Server 2012 DFS New Member Issue

  I am trying to add a new member to our DFS topology. We have 3 DCs (VMs - VMware) running Windows server 2012, two servers are located in or Primary site and the third at our DR site. Currently the two servers at our primary site are currently replicating DFS (full mesh) and are working fine. I have tried several times to add the third DC to our DFS topology, every time i configure the replication path e.g E:\MSI and click ok the MMC snap in crashes. Below is the crash info, any idea what is causing this? What i am doing is fairly straight forward and don't see why this would be happening.   I have got IIS7 running on my Windows 2008 Server It works perfectly working for the sites and the folder that I hosted before. Now I am trying to host a folder which contains two subfolder(the subfolders contain some images). I have correctly set the IIS_IUSRS permissions on the site folder. • Using External GPS Device w/ Android via Bluetooth

  Hello, I am writing an Android 2.0 application that is going to be used in a somewhat remote location. There will be no internet connection available and it will be used outside of the U.S. I am considering the option of using an external Nokia or similar GPS device as a receiver/transmitter and connecting to it for use in my application via the bluetooth API. I am looking for opinions on whether or not this is even possible, if anyone has attempted it or if someone has a suggestion for some other external device or approach that would be more fitting. • Why won't this Apache modrewrite RewriteRule work?

  I'm trying to get Apache mod rewrite to work on my local machine. I'm running OSX with PHP 5 and the Apache mod rewrite module is enabled. I have a directory called localhost/~Jason/hfh/admin with various PHP includes called based on a $_GET variable. I want to let users type (in theory) localhost/~Jason/hfh/admin/pages and have that URL stay in the address bar, while what gets displayed is localhost/~Jason/hfh/admin/?admin=pages So. I've created a .htaccess file that sits in the /hfh directory. Inside, I've put this mod rewrite text: RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^admin/([^/.]+)/?$ admin/?admin=$1 [L] When I go to the browser and type localhost/~Jason/hfh/admin/pages I get a "Problem loading page" error, and Firefox says, "Oops. Firefox can't load this page for some reason." Can anyone help me figure this out? I have such a hard time with regex and mod rewrite...

• QuickReport.ExportToFilter throws "stack overflow" error when used in TWebModule

  hi, I am working on Windows xp and am trying to get a simple video player running. I am trying to use Phonon::VideoPlayer module for this. I am connecting the signal as connect(self.player,SIGNAL("finished()"),self.player.deleteLater) and then , when the Play button is pressed, it makes the following call: self.player.play(Phonon.MediaSource("C:\vid.mp4")) But, this doesn't display the video in the video player widget. Neither can I hear audio. Can anyone help?? I tried using different video file formats but no luck.

• Django cannot find my templatetags, even though it's in INSTALLED_APPS and has a __init__.py

  I just installed django-compress (http://code.google.com/p/django-compress) into /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/site-packages/compress. I added 'compress' to INSTALLED_APPS. In my template file, I wrote {% load compressed %}. I got the error: 'compressed' is not a valid tag library: Could not load template library from django.templatetags.compressed, No module named compressed I verified that there is an init.py in compress, as well as in compress/templatetags/. I tried putting the compress directory into PYTHONPATH. I ran python and wrote "import compress" and that worked. Your suggestions would be very appreciated! What else can I try?

  I have a hybrid asp.net web forms / mvc application that I recently converted to .net 4 with mvc2. I have set-up that application to run on IIS 7.5 (on Windows 7) and the web forms part of the site is running okay but the MVC part is not. Whenever I try and access a page that needs to go through the routing engine I get HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Module IIS Web Core Notification MapRequestHandler Handler StaticFile Error Code 0x80070002 I'm debugging this web site through VS2010 (so I've set-it-up to use IIS instead of Cassini) and when I put a break point in the Application_Start function it is never hit so the routes are never registered. When I put a break point in the Page_Load function in one of the aspx page code-behinds it gets hit. So it seems that the problem is that the route is not being registered. What am I missing?

  Hi guys, In my Django application I would like the user to be able to change the email address. I've seen solution of StackOverflow pointing people to django-profiles. Unfortunately I don't want to use a full fledged profile module to accomplish a tiny feat of changing the users email. Has anyone seen this implemented anywhere. The email address verification procedure by sending a confirmation email is a requisite in this scenario. I've spent a great a deal of time trying to a find a solution that works but to no avail.   i have a C++ application compiled with VS 2008 with pdb file enabled. After i tried to use dv command to display local vars, it shows the following message: Unable to enumerate locals, HRESULT0x80004005 Private symbols (symbols.pri) are required for locals. Type ".hh dbgerr005" for details. Note that: i've run the "dv" command on the correct frame which has the symbol file. i can use "dt" command successfully. i've included the symbol path and the pdb file has been loaded successfully as following: start end module name 00400000 0043f000 helloworld (private pdb symbols) c:\test... Does anyone know the cause? Is there any configuration i missed to enable local var watch? Or VS 2008 pdb is not supported by windbg (i'm using the latest windbg version)?

Problem is it calculate the height on page load, and if the user resizes their browser, it does not adjust...   I searched for this after seeing it's the top rated item when profiling using Very Sleepy, and it seems everyone gets the answer "it's a system function, ignore it". But Sleepy's hint for the function says: Hint: KiFastSystemCallRet often means the thread was waiting for something else to finish. Possible causes might be disk I/O, waiting for an event, or maybe just calling Sleep(). Now, my app is absolutely thrashing the CPU and so it's a bit weird 33% of the time is spent waiting for something to happen. Do I really just ignore it? EDIT: apparently, 77% of the calls to this come from QueryOglResource (?) which is in module nvd3dnum. I think that might be nvidia Direct3D stuff, i.e rendering.

  When using the Perl module Net::Cassandra::Easy to interface with Cassandra I use the following code to read colums col[123] from rows row[123] in column-family Standard1: my $cassandra = Net::Cassandra::Easy->new(keyspace => 'Keyspace1', server => 'localhost'); $cassandra->connect(); my $result = $cassandra->get(['row1', 'row2', 'row3'], family => 'Standard1', byname => ['col1', 'col2', 'col3']); This works as expected. However, when trying to insert row row1 with .. $result = $cassandra->mutate(['row1'], family => 'Standard1', insertions => { "col1" => "Value to set." }); .. I get the error message Can't use string ("0") as a SCALAR ref while "strict refs" in use at .../Net/GenThrift/Thrift/BinaryProtocol.pm line 376. What am I doing wrong?

• Choosing Between Prism and Caliburn

  I have been using Prism 2.0 for a personal project for a few months now. I have recently heard of Caliburn and am wondering if there are compelling reasons for me to consider that instead. I like Prism's dynamic module loading capability. I intend to build modules for my application and would like to be able to deploy them in a modular manner. Is that also possible with Caliburn? What are the advantages of Caliburn over Prism? (I read that Prism will also have a new version by September 2010 that will leverage .Net 4.0. and am keeping my application flexible to be updated by then as well.)

  Hello, I'm running 32-bit Windows XP and trying to have Matlab communicate with Cgate, a command line program. I'd like to make this happen using wexpect, which is a port of Python's module pexpect to Windows. I'm having trouble installing or importing wexpect though. I've put wexpect in the folder Lib, along with all other modules. I can import those other modules but just not wexpect. Commands I've tried include: import wexpect import wexpect.py python wexpect.py install python wexpect.py install --home=~ wexpect install Does anyone have anymore ideas?

• Non-blocking read on a stream in python.

  Hi, I'm using the subprocess module to start a subprocess and connect to it's output stream (stdout). I want to be able to execute non-blocking reads on its stdout. Is there a way to make .readline non-bloking or to check if there is data on the stream before I invoke .readline? I'd like this to be portable or at least work under Windows and Linux. here is how I do it for now (It's blocking on the .readline if no data is avaible): p = subprocess.Popen('myprogram.exe', stdout = subprocess.PIPE) str = p.stdout.readline() Thanks for your help.

  I wonder when to use what flavour of Python 3 super(). Help on class super in module builtins: class super(object) | super() -> same as super(__class__, <first argument>) | super(type) -> unbound super object | super(type, obj) -> bound super object; requires isinstance(obj, type) | super(type, type2) -> bound super object; requires issubclass(type2, type) Until now I've used super() only without arguments and it worked as expected (by a Java developer). Questions: What does "bound" mean in this context? What is the difference between bound and unbound super object? When to use super(type, obj) and when super(type, type2)? Would it be better to name the super class like in Mother.__init__(...)?

  I get the following error long before I hit the breakpoint at Main(). System.Reflection.ReflectionTypeLoadException: Unable to load one or more of the requested types. Retrieve the LoaderExceptions property for more information. at System.Reflection.Module._GetTypesInternal(StackCrawlMark& stackMark) at System.Reflection.Assembly.GetTypes() at Microsoft.Tools.SvcHost.ServiceHostHelper.LoadServiceAssembly(String svcAssemblyPath) There is a suggestion that it might be a configuration error, but I don't see it when comparing to a similar, working example. How do I "Retrieve the LoaderExceptions property" when it happens this early? Thanks!

  I'm trying to write a custom fxcop rule for mstest projects VS2010. I'd like to debug it but keep getting an exception when it tries to load the dll for the mstest project it fails stating that it can't find referenced assembly: Microsoft.FxCop.Common.AssemblyLoadException Could not load C:\Users\Administrator\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects\20100106-CodeAnalysisRulesBlogDemo\BlogDemo\TestProject1\bin\Debug\TestProject1.dll. Microsoft.FxCop.Sdk.InvalidMetadataException The following error was encountered while reading module 'TestProject1': Assembly reference cannot be resolved: Microsoft.VisualStudio.QualityTools.UnitTestFramework, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a. Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this? If I just run the code analysis it works fine but as soon as I try to debug it fails. Thanks

• Django deployment: PIL and virtualenv problem

  Hey guys, I'm deploying a Django site on my Vserver (Debian Lenny) and I'm having problem with PIL. I'm using virtualenv as well. When I'm in the virtualenv and type pip install -U PIL everything installs fine and I get this: *** TKINTER support not available --- JPEG support available --- ZLIB (PNG/ZIP) support available *** FREETYPE2 support not available *** LITTLECMS support not available And when I go in to the shell (python manage.py shell) and type from PIL import Image I get no error. But when I use it in the Django project (uploading an image in the admin for example) I just get No module named PIL I don't think it's a problem with the model because it works fine on the development machine but here is part of the class: class Category(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=255, verbose_name="Name") logo = models.ImageField(upload_to='images/category/', blank=True, null=True, verbose_name="Logo") I'm going out of my mind about this. I feel like this is a very common issue but I've been trying to google this all day with no luck. Thanks in advance, AndriJan
