  I'm new in iOS development and i need simple example (project) with explained two-entity coreData with to-many relationship between A and B entities on iOS6 with storyboard interface and ARC. In storyboard should be two UITableView controllers which present entities A and B and two UIViewControllers which present adding string data from text fields I searched in many books, sites, video lessons like "lynda.com", but i still not understand how and where i should implement two-entity coredata with one to-many relationship in code. Can someone give me link to understandable tutorial or put the project on GitHub?

  have been tasked to write a document outlining the best reasons to use SQL 2008 R2 instead of SQL 2005 for my brand new BI project. We have a policy of only using two versions at a time and there are still SQL 2000 boxes around here somewhere.... I know the microsoft line on as per this link. http://www.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2008/en/us/why-upgrade.aspx What I want to know is your opinions of which are the best features and why. So if you can help me try to convince management to use a product which is actually up to date, I would appreciate it.

• Windows Home Server style redundancy/multi-disk-support on Windows Server 2008 R2?

  I'm setting up a fileserver for our department. It'll be connected to the domain. I want it to have a very large amount of storage (several TB). Ideally, it should also preserve disk space by identifying identical files and only storing them once. It should be fault tollerant so that if one of the drives fails, that drive can be replaced without losing any data. All of these features are available in Microsoft's consumer offering - Windows Home Server. However, I can't find these kind of features within the enterprise Windows Server 2008 R2. Am I missing something? I know that I could buy a Drobo, or similar, and use this instead. However, I would prefer to use a built-in feature of Windows Server should it exist. It seems surprising to me that these features should be available in Home Server but not in an enterprise fileserver.

  When I alter or create a stored procedure directly on production or QA database, after a few seconds I start experience timeouts and application becomes unavailable. Log files shows this error: SQL Server has encountered 3 occurrence(s) of I/O requests taking longer than 15 seconds to complete on file [C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\DATA\QA_Database.ldf] in database [QA_Database] (9). The OS file handle is 0x0000000000000568. The offset of the latest long I/O is: 0x0000002821a200 We have SQL Server 2008 R2 installed, including latest Service Pack. Production and staging environments are completely separated. I tried to reproduce it on QA, but to no avail. I have no clue what it could be. Appreciate your help.

• Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard: Locks MS Office files, but not Adobe .AI and .PSD files?

  We have some shares setup on a Windows 2003 R2 server, and the MS Office files people save behave properly: The first person to open the file gets read/write, and the second person to open the file while the first person still has the file open, gets a read-only version. This is not true for the graphics files, like Adobe Illustrator .AI files, and Photoshop .PSD files. Anyone who goes to open these files has full read/write, even if someone else is already working on the file! This has lead to numerous file corruption issues, as well as other lost work, since it always saves the last changes to the file. How do we get Windows to properly lock these files so when someone is working on a file, and someone else wants to open one, they get read-only access? Many thanks, Bruce

  I have 2 Physical Servers with SQL Server 2008 R2. – SQL Server 1(Active) & SQL Server 2 (Passive) Web Application is developed using .Net 4.0 Framework. I want to know the best solution to have high availability and also have SSRS for reporting. Planned solution: Mirroring for Failover, and Transaction Replication for SSRS as the mirrored database can only be used for failover scenarios. SSRS will be on the Passive server, to reduce the load on the Active server. Let me know if the solution is correct. Also suggest alternate approaches.

  I need to create a VPN IPsec tunnel between my Windows 2008 R2 server and a CISCO ASA device. I want my server to be both the end of the tunnel, and the server that connects to the other side (no need to connect a whole subnet, just the server would be fine). I found this article that seems to do the trick, but there are two differences: As mentioned above, the computer behind my end is the server itself. Can that be configured? (i.e. make the "computers in endpoint 1" IP address be the same than "local tunnel computer"). This article is for Juniper ScreenOS, not for CISCO ASA, though configurations look very similar. Would that configuration work for me?

  Right now I have daily (differential) and weekly (full) backups set on my SQL Server 2008 R2 as jobs for SQL Server Agent with email notifications if job fails. I do get emails like this: JOB RUN: 'Daily backup.Diff backup' was run on 4/11/2012 at 3:00:00 AM DURATION: 0 hours, 0 minutes, 28 seconds STATUS: Failed MESSAGES: The job failed. The Job was invoked by Schedule 9 (Daily backup.Diff backup). The last step to run was step 1 (Diff backup). but often that happens because we delete/create new databases - and diff backup fails. And the only way for me to see the actual reason is to go to Log Viewer - Maintenance Plans logs. Is it possible to include "Error Message" field from the logs into notification emails? And more generic - is it possible to change notification email templates somehow?.. Thanks you.

• Is it possible to create a Mirror or Stripe volume for the boot partition in Windows 2008/R2?

  Hello, I have a server with two identical disks and I have installed Windows Server 2008 R2 on C, which is a 60GB volume on Disk 0. Using the disk manager, I have attempted to create both a Mirror and Stripe volume in Disk 1 but every time I get the same error "No extents found in the plex". This error occurs after Windows has converted both disks to Dynamic. The fact that the manager allows me to attempt to do this would point to the fact that this is possible. However I have been unable to find any solutions to this error. Any ideas on how to solve this? Thanks Georgios

  I have this consistent problem of RDSM crashing in Server 2008 R2. It is either really slow to open, sometimes never opens, or after it's been open and working properly for a bit, stops working, and forces an unload of the snap-in. It's done this since the deployment of this server, new hardware, new instance of S2k8. Domain Administrator login. I am using it to manage 3 Terminal Servers, the other two are S2k3. I've used it without issues on other 2008 servers.

  I have the following method in my PyQt4 app. r2 is the number of row to move, and r1 is the position where it should be moved. To clarify: the table is filled with cellWidgets, not widgetItems. def move_row(self, r1, r2): tt = self.tableWidget tt.insertRow(r1) for c in range(tt.columnCount()): tt.setCellWidget(r1, c, tt.cellWidget(r2 + 1, c)) tt.removeRow(r2 + 1) # <--- ??? If I comment out the last line, it behaves as expected: the new row is inserted at position r1, it is filled with widgets from r2 (now it's r2+1), and the r2+1 row is empty. If I even hide this row, it behaves well, though it is not what I want (I have the rows numbered, and I don't want this hidden row to occupy the number). But if I remove the row, the widgets initially owned by it disappear. Looks like their ownership is taken on first placement, and is not changed after the move. Any ideas?

• RC of Entity Framework 4.1 (which includes EF Code First)

  Last week the data team shipped the Release Candidate of Entity Framework 4.1.  You can learn more about it and download it here. EF 4.1 includes the new “EF Code First” option that I’ve blogged about several times in the past.  EF Code First provides a really elegant and clean way to work with data, and enables you to do so without requiring a designer or XML mapping file.  Below are links to some tutorials I’ve written in the past about it: Code First Development with Entity Framework 4.x EF Code First: Custom Database Schema Mapping Using EF Code First with an Existing Database The above tutorials were written against the CTP4 release of EF Code First (and so some APIs might be a little different) – but the concepts and scenarios outlined in them are the same as with the RC. Go Live License Last week’s EF 4.1 RC ships with a “go live” license that enables you to use it in production environments.  The final release of EF 4.1 will ship within the next 4 weeks and will be 100% API compatible with the RC release. Improvements with the RC The RC includes several improvements and enhancements.  The EF team has a good blog post summarizing the RC changes.  Scott Hanselman also has a nice video interview with the data team that talks more about the release. One of my favorite improvements introduced with last week’s RC is its support for medium trust security.  This enables you to use EF 4.1 (and code-first) within low-cost ASP.NET shared hosting web environments – without requiring a hoster to install anything to use it. EF 4.1 also now supports validation with not only code-first scenarios, but also model-first and database-first workflows.  Upgrading from previous releases The RC does include a few API tweaks and changes from the prior CTP builds.  Read the release notes that come with the release to get a more detailed listing of the changes. John Papa also has an excellent Upgrading to EF 4.1 RC blog post that describes the steps he took when upgrading a large project he wrote with the previous CTP5 release.  The work to upgrade is pretty straight forward and easy – use his write-up as a guide on how to quickly update projects of your own. NuGet Package Rename One of the changes that the data team made between the CTP5 and RC releases was to rename the NuGet package name from “EFCodeFirst” to “EntityFramework”. They decided to make this change since the EF 4.1 release now includes several additions above and beyond just code first. If you already have installed the “EFCodeFirst” NuGet package, you’ll want to uninstall it and then install the new “EntityFramework” NuGet package.  John Papa’s blog post details the exact steps on how to do this (it only takes ~20 seconds to do this). • How can I find the shortest path between two subgraphs of a larger graph?

  I'm working with a weighted, undirected multigraph (loops not permitted; most node connections have multiplicity 1; a few node connections have multiplicity 2). I need to find the shortest path between two subgraphs of this graph that do not overlap with each other. There are no other restrictions on which nodes should be used as start/end points. Edges can be selectively removed from the graph at certain times (as explained in my previous question) so it's possible that for two given subgraphs, there might not be any way to connect them. I'm pretty sure I've heard of an algorithm for this before, but I can't remember what it's called, and my Google searches for strings like "shortest path between subgraphs" haven't helped. Can someone suggest a more efficient way to do this than comparing shortest paths between all nodes in one subgraph with all nodes in the other subgraph? Or at least tell me the name of the algorithm so I can look it up myself? For example, if I have the graph below, the nodes circled in red might be one subgraph and the nodes circled in blue might be another. The edges would all have positive integer weights, although they're not shown in the image. I'd want to find whatever path has the shortest total cost as long as it starts at a red node and ends at a blue node. I believe this means the specific node positions and edge weights cannot be ignored. (This is just an example graph I grabbed off Wikimedia and drew on, not my actual problem.)

• XNA, how to draw two cubes standing in line parallelly?

  I just got a problem with drawing two 3D cubes standing in line. In my code, I made a cube class, and in the game1 class, I built two cubes, A on the right side, B on the left side. I also setup an FPS camera in the 3D world. The problem is if I draw cube B first(Blue), and move the camera to the left side to cube B, A(Red) is still standing in front of B, which is apparently wrong. I guess some pics can make much sense. Then, I move the camera to the other side, the situation is like: This is wrong.... From this view, the red cube, A should be behind the blue one, B.... Could somebody give me help please? • Google is not treating two Australian schools as separate sites when both are subdomains of qld.edu.au

  My question relates to two websites, each of which is a "Calvary Christian College", however in two totally different locations and unrelated to each other entirely (except by name, and thus domain). All schools in the state are issued a <school-name>.qld.edu.au subdomain, in this case calvary.qld.edu.au and calvarycc.qld.edu.au. Now what's interesting is that these domains are crossing each other in sitelinks for searches such as calvary christian college townsville. The green data here is for one school (the Townsville school, as per search term), and the red data is for the other school. I've put a demotion in for this 6 months ago (we control calvary.qld.edu.au), however we're seeing no change on the results page. I have been able to get the owners of calvarycc.qld.edu.au to submit demotions for our domain, which should go in sometime in the next few days. What can we do to tell Google that these websites are not interchangeable, despite both appearing as "subdomains" of qld.edu.au? We can possibly open channels of communication with the administrators of qld.edu.au but will need to tell them what we need to change, and at this point I'm out of ideas.

• Is it possible to get xRandR to see two separate outputs with the nvidia driver?

  I have two monitors, which I have set up with nvidia-settings in Twinview. The result: When I want to do something in xRandR, it does not function. It doesn't report one output per video card head, but a single output mapped to the combined area of both monitors: rumtscho@bradbury:~$ xrandr xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default Screen 0: minimum 3840 x 1440, current 3840 x 1440, maximum 3840 x 1440 default connected 3840x1440+0+0 0mm x 0mm 3840x1440 50.0* Now I promised somebody to help test a driver. The developer is using an open source driver for Intel video cards, and his driver assumes that there is more than one xRandR output, each mapped to a monitor. So I tried rewriting my xorg.conf to somehow get two outputs to show up, but failed. Googling showed that people faced with the xRandR-nvidia problem either stopped using xRandR and achieved what they needed with nvidia-settings, or changed their driver to nouveau. The first is not going to help in my situation, and I am not willing to give up the proprietary driver, because Compiz won't work without it. So does anybody know a way to get nvidia to actually pass on information on outputs to xRandR?

• Dedicated Servers: Is one better then two for LAMP pseudo HA setup? [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: How to find web hosting that meets my requirements? I know there are zillions of commentary about hosting out there, but I haven't read much about this. Our current well known host is having too many problems, the hardware we are on it subpar, and I'm ready to leave. A day of downtime can cost as much as our monthly hosting bill. A month of bad performance is just killing us right now, user and google wise. I'm wondering about running two dedicated boxes for LAMP, one running as the primary Nginx/Apache (proxy pass), and the other as the MySQL box. Running a single box scares the bejesus out of me because who knows how long it will take anyone to fix a raid card or whatever. The idea is to set this up using some sort of failover system using pacemaker and heartbeat. If one server goes down the other can take over for the other running both web and db. There are some good articles over at Linode about this. I have a few DBs that are 1GB+ and would like to load them into memory. Because of this, I'm shying away from a Linode HA setup because for the price I could do it with two dedicated like I described. Am I mad or an idiot? What are people out there doing for pseodu high availability good performance setups under $400/month? I'm a webmaster; I do a lot of things none of it that well :)

• Is it okay to just add a page or two PHP page to add some functionality to a Drupal site?

  I'm not familiar with Drupal, really. I can dig around the admin interface and navigate the directories and find the files that I need to just fine as well. What I'm really not familiar with is adding modules or extending modules. The site currently takes an order and sets up recurring payments through Ubercart and uses Authorize.net as a gateway. Right now, when a payment fails, a single e-mail gets sent out to the admin. We'd like to extend it to send an e-mail to the user and let them change their payment information through another page on the site. Authorize has a service called Silent Post URL that basically just posts a carbon copy in XML to whatever URL you give it. We'd like to accept that XML, deserialize it, parse the data, send a notice to the user and give them the page for updating their information. So, I guess it'll be two PHP pages. One for the XML API call from Authorize.net, and then one for the page for the users' to update their payment information. Could I just create two simple pages each handling their own tasks, or should I check out properly extending a module? If it's appropriate for me to write up the pages and not have to hook them into the module, what would be the best way to handle setting up what needs to get done? (The most experience I've had with extending a PHP site has been hacking away at someone else' poorly constructed, custom framework, so if anyone has any good resources perhaps on PHP best practices that they could share through a PM or a comment, I'd appreciate It) (Also, I'm still getting the hang of Stack Exchange, so if this isn't appropriate please let me know. • WiX major upgrade refuses to replace existing file!

  Hello! I have inherited this project with a WiX installer, and am required to make this version usefully upgrade the previous one! My problem comes in replacing the database files with new versions. No, the problem is not that they are locked, I can replace them manually, and in fact now ONE of them is replaced, while the other is not. Please, please tell me what I'm doing wrong here. I've tried several other solutions (including registry keys as KeyPath instead of CompanionFile) but nothing is quite working. ALMOST WORKS. The file that is giving me trouble is the one called "PathwaysMdf". Even though it's Component code is EXACTLY the same as the PathwaysLdf file, that file is replaced, while the MDF is NOT. You can see, commented out, some of the other things I've attempted, some from suggestions on stackoverflow.
