  • System response times --- A good Service Level Agreement?

    In order to view system performance, I have been asked by management to give page response times for a few key pages. I want to make sure I am giving a good picture of the overall health of the system, and not just narrowing in on a single measurement. So my question is: When developing software, what metrics would you provide to your stakeholders to indicate a system that is healthy and running well? (if it is not running well, that should also be evident! Not trying to hide/obscure any problems.)

    In my last post I showed you that different redirect URLs trigger different response behaviors in ACS. Where did I actually get these URLs from? The answer is simple – I asked ACS ;) ACS publishes a JSON encoded feed that contains information about all registered identity providers, their display names, logos and URLs. Based on that value, the returned JSON will contain the URLs for either the redirect or notify method.     I had a w/s that when I first read the WSDL in test, was http, but needed to be accessed from behind a reverse proxy with https.  Here are the steps: Change the app.config, <httpTransport> to <httpsTransport> Change the app.config and the url address in the <endpoint>to the reverse proxy address Add System.Net.ServicePointManager.ServerCertificateValidationCallback = delegate { return true; };  to disable certificate validation.  This will validate all certificates (including invalid, expired or self-signed ones).
