• Image animation stops on minimizing and restoring

  I have a .NET WinForms application with an animated GIF in a PictureBox. It's a loading animation, shown while a BackgroundWorker does some processing in another thread. I load the image by setting the Image property and it animates on its own. All is fine until I minimize and restore the application. At which point, the image stops animating and just displays whatever frame it was last on. Note that: The background thread still runs fine and none of the "business" of the application is affected. Subsequently-displayed animated GIFs do work fine (unless the application is minimized again). Does anyone know what causes this problem? Any workarounds?

• View is moved 3 pixels

  Hello, In my app I move the table view (in order to make the text fields visible when the keyboard appears). The view is looks following: This is the code I use for resizing the view and moving it up: static const NSUInteger navBarHeight = 44; CGRect appFrame = [[UIScreen mainScreen] applicationFrame]; tableView.frame = CGRectMake(0, navBarHeight, appFrame.size.width, appFrame.size.height-navBarHeight-216); //216 for the keyboard NSIndexPath *indPath = [self getIndexPathForTextField:textField]; //get the field the view should scroll to [tableView scrollToRowAtIndexPath:indPath atScrollPosition:UITableViewScrollPositionMiddle animated:YES]; The problem is that when the view is moved up it also moves 3 pixels into right direction (it is hard to see the difference in the screenshot, but it is visible when the animation is on and I measured the difference with PixelStick tool). Here it is how it looks after the move: My analysis shows that scrolling the table does not influence the move to the right. Any ideas what is wrong in the code above that makes the view move to the right?

• How to separate model and view with Core Data?

  I have a subclass of UIView which draws itself based on data held in a corresponding model class, which is a subclass of NSManagedObject. The problem is, some fields in the data model (e.g. the position of the view) are already held in the view (i.e. the frame property in this case). I then have a data duplication/synchronization problem to solve. To complicate matters further, the view needs to update in response to changes made to the data model and the data model needs to be updated in responses made to the view (e.g. the user dragging it to a new location). What's the best way to solve this? Using KVO and references in both directions? Or is there a better approach?

• Communicating between an overlayed iFrame and the underlying page (LAMP)

  I have a small form is to be filled in. If the user is logged in, the form is submitted as normal. If the user is not logged in, I show an overlayer with an iframe'd page that contains a login box where he enters his credentials. If the credentials are correct I can "break out" of the frame to "return" to the main page, but how can I update this main page for example to show "you are now logged in" and to change the JS / PHP login that determines whether or not the form can be submitted normally and not be intercepted again by the overlayer prompt? Afaik, these two separate pages are not aware of each other so I'm struggling to find a solution to this problem. This is in a LAMP / jQuery / CodeIgniter environment. EDIT: Could CodeIgniter's XML RPC class be useful for this?

• How to stop a preloader stalling a flash movie in IE

  This is only a problem in IE. the following actionscript is for a simple preloader for a movie i'm working on. It works fine in Firefox but the movie stops on the first frame when opened with Internet Explorer. • how to call windows paint event from child thread

  If I am wrong then please correct me as I am new in this. I have one thread which display image captured from webcam on a windows created using CreateWindowEx() function. Now when i execute my program I can see that my paint code (in WindowProc()) in never reached (called InvalidateRect() from child thread to redraw), checked using breakpoint. Actually frame capture and display is being done in thread and I think because its in child thread and Window is in Main thread that is why its not able to call paint event. Can you help me on this

  In an ActionScript 2 project I can create a new MovieClip, right-click on it on the library and select "Component Definition" to add parameters that can be referenced inside the MovieClip. This parameters can be easily changed in the MovieClips's properties. Now, I'm working on an ActionScript 3 project but haven't been able to figure out a way to obtain the values passed in those parameters. I defined a parameter named "textToDisplay" but when I write the following in the Actions for the first frame I get an error: trace(textToDisplay); This is the error: 1120: Access of undefined property textToDisplay. • Iphone Orientation Change

  I am trying to implement orientation change functionality in my application.I have overrided -(void) didRotateFromInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)fromInterfaceOrientation. In this method i change the frame size of the tableview(including the position of the cell items) which is present in the view. The tableview Details: Added to the view as [self.view addSubView:tableView] in the viewDidLoad method of the view controller; Cell item (row) has a textfield and a segmented control. There are 10 cells in the table view and in landscape mode only 2 cells are visible and in potrait mode 5 cells are visible. I have implemented scroller. Issue: Certain times on changing the orientation to potrait mode certain segmented controls in the cell are not rendered (Not shown at all). This happens when i am viewing the last couple of cells in the landscape mode and i change the orientation to potrait mode.

  I have an app I was working on to learn more about wxPython( I have been primarily been a scripter ). I forgot about it now I am opening it back up. It's a screen scraper, and I have it working almost the way I want it, going to build a regex parser to strip out the links in every scrape that I don't need. The questions I have are this. In it current state, if I check more than one site, it goes out and scrapes, and returns it in separate windows, the for:each section in the Clicked function. I want to put them in a frame, in the window, altogether. I also want to know if I can take the list they are read into and send it to a checklist, so someone could check off separate items, I want to build a save function and keep certain ones. In regards to a save function, I want to keep saved checks, are there calls to the widgets to save their states? I know it's a lot, but thanks for the help.

• How to play a set of jpeg files as a movie?

  I have a set of jpeg images where eacg image has an associated description. e.g. im1.jpg - suspect enters bank im7.jpg - suspect hands teller a note imj41.jpg - teller gives suspect a bag ... ... It's trivial to view these images individually and see the description but how do I play this as a movie? I need to play the images and when I encounter one with a description, display the description in a status pane. Do I need to convert the images into a movie, if so how? How do I get the player to notify me when the description frame is encountered? I'm using Windows. language doesn't matter, I just need the concept right now.

Sure, a good positioning of these media files, create an aesthetic value but how important is it to the user ? moreover, aren't people looking for information after all ? why can't the internet be a uniform looking data warehouse ? now we've gotta digg through all the aesthetic junk, using shady web scraping techniques, unless RSS or API is provided. why can't we settle for just a dull grey button and framesets for navigation ? why can't all sites have navigation frame on the left and top ? why can't all sites put their damn data always in normalized table tag ?

However, I am not sure how R would interpret my data the way I intend. I will explain the types of matrix by example.   I need to create a couple of UIButtons programmatically in my app (iOS 6.0 and above). Each button should have the optimal width to display button label text (of various lenghts). I want to display the buttons in a "wrap around" style: Starting from the left edge, each button should be positioned next to each other horizontally (in a defined order), and if a button does not fit in the current "line", it should start a new line on the left edge below the previous line. I could manually calculate the frame of each button in my code, but should I use AutoLayout (with programmatically creates NSLayoutConstraints) instead? How exactly would I need to set it up?

• [R] how do I quickly group the time column in a dataframe into intervals?

  Hi, Assuming in R, I have a data.frame with the first column representing the time (as POSIXct). The rest of the columns (e.g., columns 2) are numeric data. I would like to group time into 3-minute intervals. Each interval will the the average of values that falls into that particular interval. Right now, I have a for-loop that iterates through the time column and generate the interval on the fly. I am wondering if there's a more elegant way to accomplish the same thing? Thanks in advance. That is, now that I'm done manipulating data I'd like to just have dd and none of the smaller variables that might inadvertently mask further analysis: > ls() [1] "dd" I feel like the solution must be of the form rm(ls[ -(dd) ]) or something, but I can't quite figure out how to say "please clean up everything BUT the following objects."
