• Failed to start up after upgrading software in ubuntu 10.10

  I asked this question in SuperUser one hour ago, then I know this community so I moved the question here... I've been running Ubuntu 10.10 in a physical x86-64 machine. Today Update Manager reminded me that there are some updates to install and I confirmed the action. I should had read the update list but I didn't. I can only remember there is an update about cups. After the upgrading, Update Manager requires a restart and I confirmed too. But after the restart, the computer can't start up. There are errors in the console. PS3: From this link, I think the keyboard doesn't work because the USB driver is not loaded at that time.

  In part 1, I showed a complicated mechanism for performing a clean database build. There’s an easier way.  The easier way is to use the msbuild extension tasks out on codeplex.  While you’ll still need to forcibly take the database offline (ALTER DATABASE [mydb] SET OFFLINE WITH ROLLBACK IMMEDIATE), the other msbuild tasks more easily allow you to create and delete the database.  Eventually, I’ll post an example.   I ran : sudo apt-get install curl libcurl3 libcurl3-dev php5-curl Put: extension=php_curl.so in both /etc/php5/cli/php.ini and /etc/php5/apache2/php.ini But running php from the command line gives me the following error: PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib/php5/20090626+lfs/php_curl.so' - /usr/lib/php5/20090626+lfs/php_curl.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0 Running the install commands again tells me that everything is already the newest version. Running: locate php_curl.so Returns nothing.

Download the generic version of JDeveloper for installation on Mac. Note that there are workarounds required to install JDeveloper on a Mac. Download ADF Mobile Extension from JDeveloper Update Center or Here. Please note you will need to configure JDeveloper for Internet access (In HTTP Proxy preferences) in order the install the extension, as the installation process will prompt you for a license that's linked off Oracle's web site. View this end-to-end application creation video. View this end-to-end iOS deployment video if you are developing for iOS devices. Configure your development environment, including location of the SDK, etc in JDeveloper-Tools-Preferences-ADF Mobile dialog box.  The two videos above should cover some of these configuration steps.   I just recently installed 12.10 on a new Lenovo T430, and added these options in \etc\fstab: discard, relatime To \sda1 on which \ is installed. When I rebooted, I got an error claiming that it couldn’t read \, and got thrown into a read-only shell, which necessitated booting from a rescue disk to revert to the original fstab. So: What are the correct options for SSD, and how can I make sure I won't get locked out of the system again?

• Where do I put my start up script for mysql?

  I have created a second instance of MySQL on the server for replication, if I start the process manually it works but need it to start at bootup. I used to just do a bash script in the init.d folder but apparently that no longer works on 11.10 Can anyone point me in the right direction? I even copied the mysql service, changed it and tried that but it refused to work. P.S It is the server edition so only Shell access.

• RadioButtons and Lambda Expressions

  Radio buttons operate in groups. They are used to present mutually exclusive lists of options. Since I started programming in Windows 20 years ago, I have always been frustrated about how they are implemented. To make them operate as a group, you put your radio buttons in a group box. Conversely, to group radio buttons in HTML, you simply give them all the same name. Radio buttons with the same name or ID in HTML operate as one mutually exclusive group of options. In C#, all your radio buttons must have unique names and you use group boxes to group them. I’m in the process of converting some old code to C# and I’m tasked with creating a user control with groups of radio buttons on it. I started out writing the traditional switch…case statements to check the appropriate radio button based upon value, loops to uncheck them all, etc. Then it occurred to me that I could stick the radio buttons in a Dictionary or List and use Lambda expressions to make my code a lot more maintainable. So, here is what I ended up with: Here is a dictionary that contains my list of radio buttons and their values. I used their values as the keys, so that I can select them by value. Now, instead of using loops and switch…case statements to control the radio buttons, I use the lambda syntax and extension methods. Selecting a Radio Button by Value This code is inside of a property accessor, so “value” represents the value passed into the property accessor. The “First” extension method uses the delegate represented by the lambda expression to select the radio button (actually KeyValuePair) that represents the passed in value. Finally, the resulting checkbox is checked. Since the radio buttons are in the same group, they function as a group, the appropriate radio button is selected while the others are unselected. Reading the Value This is the get accessor for the property that returns the value of the checked radio button. Now, if you’re using binding, this code is likely not necessary; however, I didn’t want to use binding in this case, so I think this is a good alternative to the traditional loops and switch…case statements.

  I'm trying to add some javascript triggered Google Analytics events to a website that is already working with GA. I've included the following beneath the standard GA script (new ga.js script). _gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'Downloads', 'Extension']); Which seems to be working ok, but the results listed in the Events Overview report (after waiting 24 hours), don't make sense.   After I add a user using adduser, I can't see it via System->Administration->Users and Groups unless I logout then login again. Is that normal? Also, can I set a newly added user as a sudoer or do I have to change that only after adding it? How can I do that via the shell?   I do something like: $ ln -s '/home/deostroll/.wine/dosdevices/c:/Program Files/Internet Explorer/iexplore.exe' /usr/bin/iexplore I am expecting that at the shell I can just type the following and expect the internet explorer browser window to show up: $ pwd <where ever> $ iexplore But instead I get the following error message: wine: cannot find L"Z:\\usr\\bin\\iexplore." What am I doing wrong?

• Unity - Certain applications don't stay in Launcher

  I can start up IntelliJ Idea using the commandline, which is a shell script that starts up a java process. It then appears in the launcher, as normal. I can select "Keep in Launcher", but it only remains there until I reboot, then it disapears again. This is the only application I've seen that does this - Stuff already in the applications menu stocks around fine if I tell it to stay in the launcher.
