• Cross-submission robots.txt for multiple domains on single host

  We are running a site with multiple languages hosted in a single environment on IIS7. For example, oursite.com - english oursite.de - german oursite.es - spanish This is a single-host environment. All of these sites are in the same application space on the same physical machine. I need to do cross-submission of sitemaps via robots.txt. Looking at the sitemap.org guidelines for this suggest this is possible, but the example indicates different physical machines. Will the following entries in oursite.com/robots.txt work? http://www.oursite.com/sitemap-oursite-de.xml http://www.oursite.com/sitemap-oursite-es.xml

• UDP flooding multiple servers

  What do you suggest? Being UDP flooded as I write to multiple servers in different data centers in 5 different countries . Up to 250,000 packets a second. I believe Cisco routers 5505 would not handle that - (some of our datacenter hosters can offer them. Some have no firewalls to offer.) Our clients naturally have constant disconnects to the server they are on. Hacker started this about three weeks ago. Sometimes for a few hours - up to a few days. If we can't stop it hitting the server with firewalls then how do we stop the hacker - now there is the challenge! Update : Found some of the data centers offer up to 10 firewall rules but would their routers be able to handle the possible volume I am talking about? Thanks Chris

• How is SU indexed so fast on Google?

  I just did a quick Google for a question that was 20 minutes old, to look for an answer, and it was already on Google Search - how is this possible? I glanced over this article which seems to suggest that SU has added RSS feeds (which SU has, but when I opened the feed the article says last posted 6 minutes ago, but when Googled it is 11 hours old) - which leads me to think (Based on that article, I don't know much about search indexing but I am reading at the moment) that most of this indexing is done thanks to the sitemap - is there anything else I am unaware of that helps SU questions get on Google so fast?

• "Breadcrumbs" for series of hostnames?

  Does anyone know of a shell that would show a series of breadcrumbs as I navigate into/out of various servers, like this: Home > Build Machine > Vagrant > Docker-base Hopefully it could auto-detect logging in and out of various boxes and display the hostnames. Perhaps with a simple "no circular links", one could just try and monitor the hostname, but I don't know if there is a shell that can easily act as a 'parent' to the other shells on these various systems so that it can query hostname and/or other item. Any thoughts?

  From an answer I gave to another question: There are comment filtering services out there that can analyse comments in a manner similar to mail spam filters (all links to the client API page, organised from simplest API to most complex): Steve Kemp (again) has an xml-rpc-based comment filter: it's how Debian filters comments, and the code is free software, meaning you can run your own comment filtering server if you like; There's Akismet, which is from the WordPress universe; There's Mollom, which has an impressive list of users. It's closed source; it might say "not sure" about comments, intended to suggest offering a captcha to check the user. For myself, I'm happy with offline by-hand filtering, but I suggested Kemp's service to someone who had an underwhelming experience with Mollom, and I'd like to pass on more reports from anyone who has tried these or other services.

• CSS Fluid Grid Layout Problem

  I have a max-width em based container for my layout. Within it I have many floated fixed width boxes, at 230px to be exact. At the max-width the container will expand to 90em's. This fit's 6 boxes per line perfectly. As the window sizes down and boxes are bumped to lower rows it leaves an ugly gap with the navigation above. I would like to force the container of the boxes to center them at all times. • What would I need to do to clone a Linux install to another machine?

  Basically, I want to make an image of one Linux install I have, and distribute it over similar (if not identical) spec machines on a network. I know it is possible, however am unsure of what needs to be done before I make the image of the install to ensure it works correctly on all machines. First think I know needs to be done, is remove all interface configuration, as I assume it would just jump to eth1 (and possibly use the same MAC), as it wont locate the network interface it had before, how would I do this so it auto detects and goes to eth0 again? Is there anything else I would need to do to the install before I make its image?

• Which user account should be used for WSGIDaemonProcess?

  I have some Django sites deployed using Apache2 and mod_wsgi. When configuring the WSGIDaemonProcess directive, most tutorials (including the official documentation) suggest running the WSGI process as the user in whose home directory the code resides. For example: WSGIScriptAlias / /home/joe/sites/example.com/mod_wsgi-handler.wsgi WSGIDaemonProcess example.com user=joe group=joe processes=2 threads=25 However, I wonder if it is really wise to run the wsgi daemon process as the same user (with its attendant privileges) which develops the code. Should I set up a service account whose only privilege is read-only access to the code in order to have better security? Or are my concerns overblown?

• Why does Amazon release private keys instead of public keys?

  My brain is wrapped around the axle on public and private keys. When you create a cloud server (instance) on Amazon's EC2 service and then want to connect to it via SSH, Amazon requires you to download private a key to make the connection. Doesn't the idea behind public/private key suggest that Amazon should be require you to download a public one? Further, if I set up an SFTP server for a customer to use, should I be installing their key on the server or giving them a key from the server? In either case, should it be a public or private key?

• Ubuntu: How to login without entering username and password

  I'm a newbie running Ubuntu 9.10. I have two users (wife and me), and each user's screensaver is set to lock so that on wakeup, we get to choose which user's desktop to go to. However, Ubuntu requires a password, so this is pretty tedious. I'd like to switch users without entering any password. I know about this trick that works for the boot login, but it doesn't deal with multiple users. Is it possible to set empty passwords for users in Ubuntu, or skip the password in other ways? (I'm expecting real Linux users to suggest that passwordless users must not get any rights and there be an admin user with a strong password. Yes, you're right. But that's not what this question is about. Thanks.)

  I have a network that advertises IPv6 addresses through IPv6 autoconfig. To allow DNS lookups and to have fancy IP addresses, we setup "static" IPv6 addresses through /etc/network/interfaces: auto eth0 iface eth0 inet dhcp iface eth0 inet6 static address a:b:c:d:e::f netmask 64 Whenever we now connect through IPv6 Linux uses the IPv6 autoconfig address: a:b:c:d:21d:60ff:fe4a:479 and not the static IPv6 address: a:b:c:d:e::f A server on the other side only sees the autoconfig address. Is there a way to force linux (Debian/Ubuntu) to use the static address for outgoing packets? This is especially interesting for reverse DNS and firewall settings. I don't want to disable the IPv6 autoconfig since I don't have control over the settings the router advertises.

• When Installing Oracle Client 11.1.0.7 can I use a common directory for Oracle Base?

  I am trying to install Oracle Client 11.1.0.7 on a Windows Server 2008 64-bit. To some this might not be rocket science but I can't understand what the options under the install screen "Specify Home Details" mean. The defaults given suggest that I use Oracle Base and install software under my own account name. It also suggests that each user should have a separate Oracle Base. This seems counter intuitive to me. I am doing a server install after all. All I want to use the installation for is to connect to an Oracle Database from Reporting Services. Can I safely ignore this and just accept the defaults? What are the implications if I change the location to a common directory?

• Kernel Panic - Not Syncing: Fatal exception

  Server (HP Proliant D320e G8 v2) froze at this screen during boot today (running CentOS 6.5): I was able to get the server to boot after a 'press and hold'. I've been having many problems with the server lately - mainly related to the iLO and being unable to install CentOS 7. Could someone please help me decode this screen? Does it suggest there could be a serious problem? Or does this just happen sometimes? It is possible that the OS wasn't 'shutdown' properly before the failed boot.

• Taskbar disappears sometimes when using a second monitor

  Windows 7 laptop, docked with a second monitor. This problem started happening when I started using the second monitor. The taskbar will often stop displaying. The Windows logo remains, but the bar, system tray, clock, and any icons for minimized programs disappear. I can see part of my desktop wallpaper where the taskbar should be. The taskbar is not set to auto-hide. Killing the explorer.exe process and starting it again temporarily fixes this. Is there a permanent solution? Thanks!

  At our office, any of our Windows 7 Clients get this error message when we try and RDP to a remote W2K8 Server outside of the office :- Your system administrator does not allow the user of saved credentials to log on to the remote computer XXX because its identity is not fully verified. Please enter new credentials A quick google search leads to some posts they all suggest I edit group policy, etc. I'm under the impression, that the common fix for this, is to follow those instructions -per Windows7 machine-. Ack :( Is there anyway I can do something via our office Active Directory .. which auto updates all Windows 7 clients in the office LAN?

However all good wikis seem to require a web-server of some kind; has anyone come across a good desktop wiki editor/viewer that work with plain-text files, and allow me to work with wiki text files just like any other document file type (note: not a desktop wiki running inside a local webserver) Before you rush to suggest (I hope!) • How to mount /tmp in /mnt on EC2?

  I was wondering what is the best way to mount the /tmp endpoint in the ephemeral storage /mnt on an EC2 instance and give the ubuntu user default write permissions. Some suggest editing /etc/rc.local this way: mkdir -p /mnt/tmp && mount --bind -o nobootwait /mnt/tmp /tmp However that doesn't work for me (files differs). I tried editing the default fstab entry: /dev/xvdb /mnt auto defaults,nobootwait,comment=cloudconfig 0 2 replacing /mnt with /tmp and and giving it a umask=0777, however it doesn't work because of cloudconfig. I'm using Ubuntu 12.04. Thanks.

  To Clarify: my question is why isn't my password policy applying to people in the domain. Hey guys, having trouble with our password policy in Active Directory. Sometimes it just helps me to type out what I’m seeing It appears to not be applying properly across the board. I am new to this environment and AD in general but I think I have a general grasp of what should be going on. It’s a pretty simple AD setup without too many Group Policies being applied. It looks something like this DOMAIN Default Domain Policy (link enabled) Password Policy (link enabled and enforce) Personal OU Force Password Change (completely empty nothing in this GPO) IT OU Lockout Policy (link enabled and enforced) CS OU Lockout Policy Accouting OU Lockout Policy The password policy and default domain policy both define the same things under Computer ConfigWindows seetings sec settings Account Policies / Password Policy Enforce password History : 24 passwords remembered Maximum Password age : 180 days Min password age: 14 days Minimum Password Length: 6 characters Password must meet complexity requirements: Enabled Store Passwords using reversible encryption: Disabled Account Policies / Account Lockout Policy Account Lockout Duration 10080 Minutes Account Lockout Threshold: 5 invalid login attempts Reset Account Lockout Counter after : 30 minutes IT lockout This just sets the screen saver settings to lock computers when the user is Idle. After running Group Policy modeling it seems like the password policy and default domain policy is getting applied to everyone.   Hello Experts, I installed Flash media server 3.5 in windows 7 home basic.it installed properly. When i try to open the media server,and not showing in its FMS ADMIN CONSOLE there. I have beeen checking the windows services, it shows flash media server is running.i have installed FMS in Default port (1935,1111).i have MCAFEE Antivirus.1st time it blocks the My FMs then i Allowed it & after that there is no issue.i am not getting what is the problem,is anything blocking the FMS.Even I am not able to start/see the control panel of FMS (Flash media server). I am guessing it is a port problem,Is it or any firewall issue?Please Suggest.

  I am running Windows 7. In Internet Explorer 9, when I visit a webpage and enter a password it is automatically remembered. When I leave the site and return again at another time, the password is filled in automatically. I would like to stop this behavior. I do not not think that it is an auto fill problem. I think it may be related to an addon provided by my OEM and published by Authentic called "Truesuite Website Log On". How can I confirm that Truesuite is the culprit? How can I stop passwords from being filled in automatically.

  I am planning to buy TP-LINK ADSL wifi router (model TD-W8151N) for my Internet connection which provides Internet through ADSL telephone line. I am also planning to take cable internet in a few months which provides internet through a LAN cable without the need of any modem. So I would like to have my modem work for both connections which I am using. When using cable internet I want this TP-Link modem to work just as a wireless router (so that I can have the freedom to use my laptop in different rooms instead of sitting at a place by plugging in that cable). Is it possible to use this modem in that way? I don't have much knowledge about these things except that I can configure things as instructed. Please suggest me whether I should go ahead and buy this one or if there is any other modem in your view which can serve both my purposes, let me know. Operating System I am using: Windows 7
