  Need help in creating an Excel Macro.I have an Excel sheet.The Excel sheet is not consistent. I am planning to make it uniform and structured. Eg. A B C D 1 test tester tester 2 hai test 3 Bye test tested 4 GN test tested Fine A B C D 1 test testertester 2 hai test 3 Bye testtested 4 GN testtestedFine Basically I have to find the last cell where element is placed so based on that I can write my CONCATENATE funciton. In this case it would be Column D and hence my concatenate function would have been =CONCATENATE(B1,C1,D1) Again I would like the result to be in B1 but not a problem if I have to hide. Can anyone help me in doing this?

• IE6 - body shrink on hover / z-index change

  I'm debugging a site to make it work for IE6 (god, please, let this be the last time). I've gotten pretty far with getting the the layout look right. There's just one more thing bugging me. Some elements like links, when they get hovered, the body of the site shrinks. I have built a dropdown with javascript. When it should show, the body of the site shrinks. There is a slideshow, made with javascript, which changes the z-index of the images, everytime it changes the z-index, the body shrinks. Now I found some information that IE6 creates this specific shrinking behaviour when using a fixed position element. But this is not the case. Someone here have some ideas for solving this? Thanks!

• How do I use Python's itertools.groupby()?

  I haven't been able to find an understandable explanation of how to actually use Python's itertools.groupby() function. What I'm trying to do is this: take a list - in this case, the children of an objectified lxml element - divide it into groups based on some criteria, and then later iterate over each of these groups separately. I've reviewed the documentation (http://docs.python.org/lib/itertools-functions.html), and the examples, (http://docs.python.org/lib/itertools-example.html), but I've had trouble trying to apply them beyond a simple list of numbers. So, how do I use of itertools.groupby()? Is there another technique I should be using? Pointers to good "prerequisite" reading would also be appreciated.

  I feel suddenly uneasy of not being able to perform this operation easily. It could be that I'm tired, or that there's really no way (google didn't help), but... if you have a list in python, and want to extract element at indices say 1, 2 and 5 into a new list, how do you do ? This is how I did it, but I'm not very satisfied >>> a [10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15] >>> [x[1] for x in enumerate(a) if x[0] in [1,2,5]] [11, 12, 15] any better way ? more in general, given a tuple with indices, how to use this tuple to extract the corresponding elements from a list, eventually with duplication (e.g. tuple (1,1,2,1,5) produces [11,11,12,11,15] )

• ASP.NET: Enumerating header elements from codebehind

  On Page_Load() in the codebehind, I'd like to enumerate all the <link> tags. The purpose being I want want to add a <link> to a CSS file if it isn't specified in the Page's markup. How can I do this? I'm thinking I should be able to use LINQ on the collection of elements in the header, no?   I'm currently trying to scrape a website that has fairly poorly-formatted HTML (often missing closing tags, no use of classes or ids so it's incredibly difficult to go straight to the element you want, etc.). I've been using BeautifulSoup with some success so far but every once and a while (though quite rarely), I run into a page where BeautifulSoup creates the HTML tree a bit differently from (for example) Firefox or Webkit. While this is understandable as the formatting of the HTML leaves this ambiguous, if I were able to get the same parse tree as Firefox or Webkit produces I would be able to parse things much more easily. The problems are usually something like the site opens a <b> tag twice and when BeautifulSoup sees the second <b> tag, it immediately closes the first while Firefox and Webkit nest the <b> tags. Is there a web scraping library for Python (or even any other language (I'm getting desperate)) that can reproduce the parse tree generated by Firefox or WebKit (or at least get closer than BeautifulSoup in cases of ambiguity).

• Zend_Form -> Nicely change setRequired() validate message

  Say I create a text element like this: $firstName = new Zend_Form_Element_Text('firstName'); $firstName->setRequired(true); Whats the best way to change the default error message from: Value is empty, but a non-empty value is required to a custom message? I read somewhere that to replace the message, just use addValidator(..., instead (NO setRequired), like this: $firstName = new Zend_Form_Element_Text('firstName'); $firstName->addValidator('NotEmpty', false, array('messages'=>'Cannot be empty')); but in my testing, this doesn't work - it doesn't validate at all - it will pass with an empty text field. Using both (addValidator('NotEmp.. + setRequired(true)) at the same time doesn't work either - it double validates, giving two error messages. Any ideas? Thanks!

• Is there some smart way of customizing ajax message text in jQuery?

  I have tons of ajax components on this booking engine. I need to customize the text inside of the modal for each of the components to suite. I added: $('#loader').bind('ajaxStart', function() { $(this).show().addClass('modalOpen'); }).bind('ajaxComplete', function() { $(this).removeClass('modalOpen').hide() }); Is there some advanced way of changing the text inside of the loading element before I do separate .ajax calls?   Hi, I am trying to sort rows of a table, and put them as 'child' elements of a table row I found this: http://code.google.com/p/nestedsortables/ this works with ul li lists, but i want to build it for a table. <table> <thead> <th>tablehead</th> </thead> <tbody> <tr><td>somevalue</td></tr> <tr><td>somevalue2</td></tr> </tbody> </table> so yeah you can use jquery.sortable() and sort the rows, but i want 'somevalue' to be become a child element of 'somevalue2' if you drag 'somevalue' over 'somevalue2' I don't know if it is posible with a table. can anyone help me? • Clustering [assessment] algorithm with distance matrix as an input

  Can anyone suggest some clustering algorithm which can work with distance matrix as an input? Or the algorithm which can assess the "goodness" of the clustering also based on the distance matrix? At this moment I'm using a modification of Kruskal's algorithm (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kruskal%27s_algorithm) to split data into two clusters. It has a problem though. When the data has no distinct clusters the algorithm will still create two clusters with one cluster containing one element and the other containing all the rest. In this case I would rather have one cluster containing all the elements and another one which is empty. Are there any algorithms which are capable of doing this type of clustering? Are there any algorithms which can estimate how well the clustering was done or even better how many clusters are there in the data? The algorithms should work only with distance(similarity) matrices as an input.

• JLabel with separate text and icon background colours

  Hey, I have a simple Jlabel element with text and icon setting the background changes the full label colour. I want to be able to only render the background colour on the text section of the label, ie - to have separate backgrounds/foregrounds for the icon and text. Selecting/deselecting the label will flip the colour behind the icon and text. Is this possible to do this by just extending JLabel, and if so which methods should i be looking to customise? My alternative idea is to create a panel with two separate label elements, one with an icon the other with text. It seems a bit messy, and before i start i'm wondering is there a smarter way of achieving this with Swing.

• HTML overlay height to cover entire visible page

  I have a web page that loads some stuff using AJAX. I want to display an overlay with a loading indicator while the loading is in progress, so that the user cannot interact with most of the page - except the menu at the top. I'm using jQuery and the jQuery BlockUI plugin to do this. I call $(element).block() and it works fine, but the overlay only extends as far down as the current content of my page. As more content is loaded and added to the page the overlay moves down with it and this looks a bit ugly. Ideally I'd like it to cover the entire visible area of the page right from the start. A simple hack for doing this would be to set a large height value for the overlay, like this: $(myElement).block({ overlayCSS: { height: '10000px' } }); ... but this creates a scrollbar! How do I avoid this and make it just the right height to cover the visible page, but not enlarge it?

  This question was inspired by this answer to another question, indicating that you can remove every occurrence of an element from a list using a function defined as: removeall = filter . (/=) Working it out with pencil and paper from the types of filter, (/=) and (.), the function has a type of removeall :: (Eq a) => a -> [a] -> [a] which is exactly what you'd expect based on its contract. However, with GHCi 6.6, I get gchi> :t removeall removeall :: Integer -> [Integer] -> [Integer] unless I specify the type explicitly (in which case it works fine). Why is Haskell inferring such a specific type for the function?

• Are there any serialization frameworks for java

  I know there is simple, which seems to be a decent enough XML serializer and i know there is Jaxb which seems to do the job as well. However im after something a bit more generic, so I could serialize my model to Xml, Json, Binary etc. So the models are just dumb objects that just get thrown into some sort of serialization factory and then the relevant output is spat out... I dont see any reason why you couldn't do this with reflection, so for a REALLY simple solution get the relevent public properties, cut off the get or set and make that the element name... i.e getPersonName() would become <PersonName>xxxx</PersonName> or PersonName:XXXXX

• jQuery event.stopPropagation is not working on <a>

  I have the following javascript: $('#ge-display').click(function (event) { window.open('/googleearth/ge-display.php','','scrollbars=yes,menubar=no,height=650,width=1000,resizable=yes,toolbar=yes,location=no,status=no'); event.stopPropagation(); return false; }); the element with id 'ge-display' is a standard link: <a href="/googleearth/ge-display.php" id="ge-display" target="_blank">Load Google Earth Plugin (in a new window)</a> The problem is - when I take out the 'return false;' line from the click event handler, the javascript popup opens, and then another browser window opens - I thought stopPropagation() would prevent the links own click handler? I've also tried stopImmediatePropagation() - but I still need to return false to stop the default behaviour of the link.

• XHtml Strict, Float: Center ?

  Hi everyone. I'm having hard time with Xhtml Strict 1.0 and Css. And I'm almost out of solutions. My Site Url: http://www.pro-turk.net/beta/ I made a jquery multilevel dropdown menu for my site. It looks like OK, but I have used inline-block property of css display attribute on navigation menu which is a part of css 2.1 and isn't supported by some browsers (including ie6 and ie7). I want to make #nav li elements block level elements, but to do this and having all of them in same line, the only way is using float in #nav li. But I want to center them in their parent (the menu bar). So I need something like float:center (I know it's pretty stupid and doesn't exist). But is there a way to include block level elements as children elements without linebreaks (I mean without making a block level element). Regards.
