Stop applet execution on load, pause/resume using javascript?

I'm making something of a java applet gallery for my website (processing applets, if you're interested) and I'd like to keep the applets from running when the sit first loads. Then, when the appropriate button is clicked, a piece of javascript would tell the applet to continue execution until another button is pressed to stop it. I know that I can use appletName.start() and appletName.stop(), but it doesn't seem to work on load, at least not well. I'm using element.getElementsById( "applet" ) to get the applets to use the start and stop methods on. It slows Firefox to a crawl for some reason.

jQuery in Opera User JS Doesn't Work

Hello ::- ). I'm playing with some Opera User JS. I included "1jquery.min.js" in my User JS folder (1 in front because Opera loads them alphabetically). Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to be working. window.onload = OnWindowLoad; $(document).ready(function() { alert ($('#area_19')); }); function OnWindowLoad () { alert ($('#area_19')); alert(document.getElementById("area_19")); } What's interesting about this code is that the first two alerts come back in NULL, but the last one does find the object! So the element definitely exists in the page, but my jQuery seems unable to get it. What's even stranger is that the jQuery "ready" function works, indicating that I do have jQuery capability. I'm quite puzzled about all this ::- /. Hopefully somebody can give me a clue ::- ).

Performance Improvement: Alternative for array_flip function.

Is there any way I can avoid using array_flip to optimize performance. I am doing a select statement from database, preparing the query and executing it and storing data as an associative array in $resultCollection and than I have array op and for each element in $resultCollection am storing its outputId in op[] as evident from the code. MooTools Sortables with horizontal list having problems

I am having problems sorting list items using the Sortables class when the list items are displayed horizontally. Removing this style fixed everything: display: inline Created an example on jsfiddle. This works. Check the stylesheet for .countries li - it does not display the list inline - http://jsfiddle.net/Wgpqw/ This does not work properly. I can drag the list items around the list, but the sort randomly happens when moving around - http://jsfiddle.net/Wgpqw/1/ I suspect it has something to do with the list element positioning in inline mode. Any help is greatly appreciated.

How to cancel drop event in YUI drag & drop utility?

We are using drag & drop utility between one source and multiple targets. We have a restriction that one of the target can only have one child element while the other ones can have multiple items. I have tried subscribing dragDropEvent of the proxy item and returning false in case the destination target has multiple child elements, with out much luck. var m = new YAHOO.example.DDList("dli" + j, 'documentSelection'); m.subscribe('dragDropEvent', function(e){ if (e.info == 'ulMasterDocument' && $('#ulMasterDocument').children().length > 1){ e.event.canceBubble = true; return false; } return true; }); Is this code correct? Only perform jquery effects/operations on certain pages

Up until now i've been dropping all my jquery code right inside the document.ready function. I'm thinking that for certain situations this isnt the best way to go. for example: If i want an animation to perform when a certain page loads what is the best way to go about that. $(document).ready(function() { $("#element_1").fadeIn(); $("#element_2").delay('100').fadeIn(); $("#element_3").delay('200').fadeIn(); }); If this is right inside of document.ready then every time ANY page loads it's going to check each line and look for that element. What is the best way to tell jquery to only perform a chunk of code on a certain page to avoid this issue.

How do I bring Set Focus of MDI Child Window using UIAutomation

We have an old legacy application we need to automate. It uses MDI Windows. We're using UIAutomation and I can succesfully get the appropriate AutomationElement for each MDI Child window. What I cannot do is bring that element into focus. Here is some example code that I tried, that fails: var desktop = AutomationElement.RootElement; var dolphin = desktop.FindFirst(TreeScope.Children, new PropertyCondition(AutomationElement.NameProperty, "Dolphin for Windows", PropertyConditionFlags.IgnoreCase)); dolphin.SetFocus(); var workspace = dolphin.FindFirst(TreeScope.Children, new PropertyCondition(AutomationElement.NameProperty, "Workspace", PropertyConditionFlags.None)); var childWindow = workspace.FindFirst(TreeScope.Children, new PropertyCondition(AutomationElement.NameProperty, "Sharp ")); childWindow.SetFocus(); The last line in this code fails with System.InvalidOperationException Experimenting, I tried finding a control on the childWindow, and calling SetFocus on it. It DID correctly set the focus on the right control, but it did not bring the MDI window to the foreground. Any ideas?

jQuery val not working properly in Chrome

I have a simple jQuery function: $('#selectable1 span').live('mousedown', function() { var ff = $(this).css("font-family"); $("#family").val(ff); }); When a span element is clicked (mousedown) an input (#family) gets its font family value. It works in FireFox but in Chrome it works only for font families composed from only one word. Georgia will work but Times New Roman will now. Looking for exhaustive list of commands and a way to set style

Hi All, I'm currently working with CKEditor (http://ckeditor.com/). I'm looking for: 1) an exhaustive list of commands available by default via 'execCommand'. 2) a mechanism by which to set styles (as in the same way the FONT and SIZE combo boxes do it). I saw the function called 'setStyle' in the documentation, however it seems to require an exact element. I can't for the life of me figure out how to do so based on the selection -- there is no way to use ID or CLASS, as the selected portions have none. I've posted to the forums but they don't seem to be terribly active as far as replies are concerned. Any assistance would be most appreciated. Best.

Question is about paths and domains: I have an out-of-the box ASP.NET MVC project (generated by "File-New Project"). On LogOn page it does: return Redirect("~/Account/LogOn");. I have a domain name: mycompany.com, and following file structure on the server: /Root /MyApp (this is where my app goes into) Default.aspx ... I have set up following domain pointer: mycompany.com -> \MyApp When I go to mycompany.com I get an error, something about can't find mycompany.com/MyApp/MyApp/Account/LogOn Question: Where does second /MyApp path element comes from? Note: If I don't use domain pointer and deploy the site to the root - everything works just fine. Note: My hosting provider is webhost4life.com.

They array is not large (below 200 elements) and will be prepared once for a large number of searches. Array elements after the n-th can if necessary be initialized to something appropriate, if that speeds up the search. No, binary search is not allowed, only linear search.

For example, I have path: Path firstPath = new Path(); firstPath.Stroke = Brushes.Black; firstPath.StrokeThickness = 1; myCanvas.Children.Add(firstPath); LineGeometry firstLine = new LineGeometry(); firstPath.Data = firstLine; And somewhere I define line's Start and End point's. The path is binded to controls (for example - two ellipses) and when I drag one of them, the line is dynamically resized and moved to be pinned to both objects. And now I wand to add some text, that would fit to this line and follow it. Any recommendations how to do this?

Python - compare nested lists and append matches to new list?

Hi, I wish to compare to nested lists of unequal length. I am interested only in a match between the first element of each sub list. Should a match exist, I wish to add the match to another list for subsequent transformation into a tab delimited file. Here is an example of what I am working with: x = [['1', 'a', 'b'], ['2', 'c', 'd']] y = [['1', 'z', 'x'], ['4', 'z', 'x']] match = [] def find_match(): for i in x: for j in y: if i[1] == j[1]: match.append(j) return match This results in a series of empty lists. Multidimensional vectors in scheme?

I earlier asked a question about arrays in scheme (turns out they're called vectors but are basically otherwise the same as you'd expect). Is there an easy way to do multidimensional arrays vectors in PLT Scheme though? For my purposes I'd like to have a procedure called make-multid-vector or something. By the way if this doesn't already exist, I don't need a full code example of how to implement it. If I have to roll this myself I'd appreciate some general direction though. The way I'd probably do it is to just iterate through each element of the currently highest dimension of the vector to add another dimension, but I can see that being a bit ugly using scheme's recursive setup. Also, this seems like something I should have been able to find myself so please know that I did actually google it and nothing came up.

I have a word document that I am converting to docbook. This word document has short sections that are quoted from another document. I thinking that I should use a blockquote or sidebar to contain the quoted document. But how do I go about making random headings in non sequential order? For example I might be quoting a section of a document that looks like this: -------------------------------------- B. Damage Assessment blah...paragraphs B.1 Responsibilities. some stuff... B.2 Authority some more stuff... -------------------------------------- Those headings are totally unrelated to the flow of the containing document. Is this an appropriate place to use the bridgehead element?

Linq to xml not able to add new elements

We save our xml in a "text" field in the database. So first I check if it exist any xml, if not I create a new xdocument, fill it with the necessary xml. else i just add the new element. I get an error saying incorrectly structured document. HTML Upload Form will only upload files found in the directory of the PHP file.

I have an image uploader that uses the imgur.com API and jQuery's .ajax() function to upload images to their servers. However, if I browse for an image using the <input type="file"/> element of the form, it will only be successful in uploading an image if the image file is found in the same directory as the page.php file that the form is found in (shown below). Using CSS, how can I make overflow:visible; contents overlap adjacent <td> cells?

I have the following CSS style code for my table: td { overflow: hidden; white-space:nowrap; } td:hover { overflow: visible; } However, when I hover over a <td> element whos contents (text) are hidden, the result is that the contents become visible but are behind the content of the adjacent cell (right side). I do not think that z-index can be applied to table cell elements, so is there a CSS attribute that I can specify within my td:hover style which will make the content of my <td> tag overlap the content in adjacent cells?
