• Table Formatting in Excel 2007: How do I remove it?

  I've used the new Table Formatting option in Excel 2007. Now I can't remove it. I've dragged the little blue square up to the last cell on the top left, but it just won't go any further. In fact it just won't go at all. Clear all doesn't remove it. What does? I want my table back! I'm not a beginner with Excel, but this little annoyance has made me feel like on. Surely there must be some way to remove table format without deleting something or clearing all! Thanks Mike

• How do I change the colors used in MS Word 2007 track changes?

  I'm reviewing a document in MS Word 2007, and when I add comments, the bubble has red text on a slightly lighter red background. This is pretty hard to read. The Track Changes Options dialog isn't of much help, I can change the background color for Comments, and it's slightly more readable. But I know that Word assigns a color to each user who reviews the document, I'd like to be able to change mine to a different one, and still have it work properly when I pass the document on to others. MS help is useless.

I am using Outlook 2007 and I want to do the equivalent of "Click on email > Select All > Copy > Switch to Excel > Select Cell > Paste". I have the Excel Object Model pretty well figured out, but have no experience in Outlook other than the following code. • Notify user of message arrival in another mailbox

  This is very similar to this question but has a few differences. Basically we have a user dealing with a conflict of interest case. To separate the mail from prying eyes (and the draconian routing system we have in place) the user has been granted access to a second conflicts mailbox that is only accessible to him via OWA. This has worked fine for years but now the user would like a notification to be sent to him when a message arrives in his conflicts mailbox. Initially I thought an Outlook rule would work but of course the client is never logged in so the Outlook rules are never processed. This led me to think that an Exchange Transport rule might work but the only options I can see are to Forward or Copy the message to another user. this would bypass the conflicts setup. All I really need is a notification and not the actual message to be sent. Is this at all possible with Exchange 2007? Or if not is there any thirdparty addition or workaround that anyone has come across?

• More outlook VSTO help...

  I posted an article here (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1095195/how-do-i-set-permissions-on-my-vsto-outlook-add-in) and I was able to build my installer. I thought that once the installer built itself, everything would work fine. I was wrong. It works on about half of the PC's I've run the installer on. My problem is that the other half doesn't work. I'm trying to install an add-in to Outlook Office 2003. I've even gone so far as to create the steps manually by using a batch file. Nothing seems to work on these PCs and I can't find a common denominator that I can rule out or in that will make the VSTO Addin work. Here is the batch file I am using. What am I doing/not-doing wrong with this? I could really use a VSTO expert's help. Thanks!!!! EDIT I've changed the batch file and registry settings to reflect recent updates to them. • Make Sure Outlook Loads All the Plugins

  My antivirus ( ESET) hanged some day ago, and that brought down its outlook plugin as a result. So when I tried to launch outlook, I would get a message, saying that outlook cannot launch. After I did this a few times, the outlook asked me whether agree to disable all the plugins, which I clicked yes. The problem now is that after I restart my pc, ESET is working fine, but the Outlook is no longer loading any of my plugins. Is there anyway to tell OUtlook to load the plugins?

  I'm running Office 2007 on Windows 7. When I ran the Microsoft Office 2010 beta installation, it asked if I wanted to upgrade the existing 2007 installation or install along side 2007. I later uninstalled 2010 and rebooted. When I re-ran the Office 2010 setup program, it no longer asked if I wanted to upgrade or install side by side. It just did a side by side install by default. How can I get it to re-prompt me, as I'd now like to upgrade my 2007 install.

• Outlook 2010 Error

  I'm running Outlook 2010 SP1 on Windows 7 x64 SP1, and I'm getting an error message saying "Your Microsoft Exchange administrator has blocked the version of Outlook that you are using. Contact your administrator for assistance." I'm still able to log into my account using Outlook Web Access (OWA), so I know that my account is working just fine. Outlook 2010 with Service Pack 1 is the standard for Windows 7 client systems at this organization, and other people are able to access their e-mail just fine. When my account was initially configured, I was able to use Outlook for a couple of days, and then it suddenly stopped working, providing only the above error message. Do you have any ideas on what I should look into to resolve this problem? Is there any information I can obtain on the client side that will help the Exchange folks investigate the issue further? Is there any verbose logging I can enable, or diagnostic logging in Outlook? Cheers

• VS 2010 VSTO Add in for EXCEL 2007 Won't load

  Hi everyone, We have an application that is built with Excel as the front end using the Office object model. We were using a C++ shim to load it as a COM add in for Excel 2003, but I've updated it to use the latest VSTO for Excel 2007. I've also been using VS 2010 for the latest version. The problem is that everything works great on my dev machine in debugger mode as well as just launching Excel 2007, but I cannot get it to run on any other machine (my current target machine is Win7, development is XP). I've created a ClickOnce deployment of the Addin, and I can see it in the list of COM Addins, but when I check on it to load it nothing happens. I re-open the Addins manager and it is un-checked. I've also tried setting in in the registry, but as soon as I run it, it sets the registry back to do not load. I've tried everything I can think of and searched all over the web but no dice. Any help would be appreciated!

• FileSystemWatcher.Changed fires immediately when Excel 2007 opens XLS file in compatibility mode

  We use a FileSystemWatcher to monitor documents opened from our Document Management system, and if the user saves the document, we ask if they would also like them updated in our system. We have a problem with XLS files in Excel 2007 (have not verified that the problem does not exist in 2003, but it only seems to be files that open in compatibility mode in 2007) where the Changed event fires immediately upon opening the file, and then once more upon closing the file, even if nothing has changed or the user chooses not to save upon closing. This same behavior does not exist when opening XLSX files. I wrote a test app to verify the behavior, which you can find at (http://www.just2guys.net/SOFiles/FSWExcel.zip). In the app, there is one FileSystemWatcher for each NotifyFilter type, so that it is apparent why the Changed event was fired. Any way you can think of to only prompt the user when the document is actually saved in some way by the user? I can start monitoring the file after Process.Start is called, which allows me to skip the message upon opening the document, but I still get one upon closing the document, even when nothing was changed.

• Import Excel 2007 into SQL 2000 using Classic ASP and ADO

  I have the following code from a legacy app which currently reads from an excel 2003 spreadsheet on a server, but I need this to run from my machine which uses excel 2007. When I debug on my machine ADO does not seem to be reading the spreadsheet. I have checked all file paths etc. and location of spreadsheet that is all fine. I've heard that you cannot use the jet db engine for excel 2007 anymore? Can someone confirm this? What do I need to do to get this to work? • Server 2003 SP2 BSOD caused by fltmgr.sys

  I'm running into a problem where a Server 2003 SP2 box has started crashing roughly once an hour, BSODing out with the message that fltmgr.sys is probably the cause. I ran dumpchk.exe on the memory.dmp file, indicating the same thing. Any thoughts on typical root causes? • Where does Outlook 2007 store opened attachments temporarily?

  If a 'friend' has double-clicked an Excel attachment from an Outlook 2007 email and worked on it, saved it and then closed Excel and the email, where would that file be lurking (assuming I haven't exited Outlook? I seem to remember Outlook 2003 putting stuff in %username%\Local Setings\Temporary Internet Files in OLK prefixed folders, but no sign of anything relevant looking in there. I'm he's on Windows XP. Update Temporary folder eventually found in: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.Outlook but need to navigate directly to this folder via pasting into 'Run...' dialog or Explorer to see it. Unfortunately, Outlook deletes the attchment when you close the email.

• Outlook unable to synchronize SharePoint library - error 0x80004005

  We have one large library (~10 GB) on SharePoint that cannot be synchronized with Outlook, even if you only attempt to synch one of the smaller sub folders in the library. Other libraries (or other library sub folders) work fine with Outlook. This is with MOSS 2007 SP1 and Outlook 2007 SP2. The error is: Task 'SharePoint' reported error (0x80004005): 'An error occurred either in Outlook or SharePoint. Contact the SharePoint site administrator.' Reproducing the error Open up the large SharePoint document library in Internet Explorer From the Actions menu, select Connect to Outlook Select Allow on the stssync: security warning that pops up Outlook automatically tries an initial sync and sync status immediately shows the above error. Update 1: I verified the same issue occurs on Windows XP SP3 with IE 6 using Outlook 2007 SP2 and the same SharePoint library (it was originally tested on Windows 7). The issue is definitely related to the library or Outlook. Update 2: Using stsadm I exported the site with this large document library (8.6 GB 15,000 items) and imported it on to a development system. The result is the same on the development system - multiple clients are unable to connect Outlook to the library and get the 0x80004005 error above.

• Cannot click send button in Outlook (+ Exchange) for unknown addresses

  Hi, I have a very unusual problem. I have Outlook 2010 connected to Exchange 2010. This can send emails perfectly to known addresses (that is, addresses in the address book or ones that have been sent to previously). However, if I put in an address that is unknown, I cannot actually click the Send button in Outlook. (it simply does nothing). Corresponding to this I get errors in the Event Log for each Send click stating "The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.". However, Outlook shows as connected the whole time, pings do not break, and I have no reason to suspect it has lost connection. To further complicate matters, Outlook is fine on all other PCs, and this was all perfect until I installed BitDefender on the PC in question and the Exchange Server. Outlook was still fine on these other PCs while BitDefender was installed, but I have removed it from the PC in question and the Server just in case (no success). Summary: Outlook encounters Exchange connectivity issues when sending to unknown (new) email addresses that prevent the Send button actually working at all. This is isolated to one machine and occurred after installation of AV/Firewall software which has since been thoroughly removed. If you have any potential solutions I'd love to hear them, as I will be resorting to reformatting the PC in question, and probably removing Exchange because I'm sick of its issues if I cannot resolve this soon. I searched and found that it could be read using Microsoft.ACE.Oledb.12, I tried and it worked. Can anyone tell me the difference between the two ? and why xlsx file can not be read using Microsoft.Jet.Oledb.4.0 Provider.

• Outlook 2007, how to stop replies from being sent if they meet criteria

  I have my college's email account auto-forwarded (they don't offer pop3 or imap) to my main gmail account so I don't have to go to their website to check for mail. That gmail account, and others, use pop3 down to my Outlook 2007. In my Outlook, I have a rule that puts mail sent to my @college address into a folder named Collegemail. Since the college email system lacks pop3 or imap, I have to go to their site to send a reply, so that the reply will be sent from my @college email address. The problem is that I cannot seem to get into the habit of going to my college's website to reply to those emails, so quite often I reply to them while in Outlook, which means my replies are sent "from" my main gmail address. How can I set up Outlook to either 1) disable replying to emails in the Collegemail folder or to emails where my college email address is in the original To: line, or else 2) set it to send those replies from a non-functional dummy account. The dummy account would be unable to send the email so the email would be stuck in the Outbox. (I already have the non-functional dummy account set up as Outlook's "Default" account. When I compose a new mail I have to deliberately pick one of my good accounts to send the new mail with, or else Outlook uses the default dummy account and the email stays in the Outbox with a Send error.) • Outlook 2010 Retrieving and restricting appointments programmatically causing recurrences to be incl

  I wrote a winforms app that uses Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook to retrieve and restrict appointments based upon the date range entered by a user. This worked fine with Outlook 2007 installed, however now that some users have updated to Outlook 2010 the appointment retrieval is pulling back incorrect appointments along with the correct ones falling within the specified date range. The additional incorrect appointments being retrieved always appear to be recurring appointments. I was wondering if this is a known bug and if so what exactly is happening that is causing these additional recurring appointments to come in? I'd rather not have to throw in a workaround where I step through the items after they have been restricted and remove the extra ones, when this functionality works fine with 2007. Note: I've not recompiled or updated any code when experiencing this issue, just running the old program. This is the spot in my code where appointments are being restricted. • LINKED TABLES BETWEEN MS ACCESS 2003 AND MS ACCESS 2007-WRITE PERMISSIONS DENIED

  We are in the process of switching over to ACCESS 2007. We have numerous data tables in ACCESS 2003 files. In one case, the user has 2007 on his PC and opend the front end in 2007. No problems. When the the user is done, he clicks a button that executes a macro full of update queries. The macro reaches the first query and halts. We get a messge saying we do not have permisons to write to this linked table (2003 format). There were no security files involved. We re-linked from 2007, same problem. LAN permssions were ok. I wound up having to import the tables to front end in order for the user to be able to do his job.

• Is Sql Server 2008 R2 unsupported by Operations Manager (SCOM) 2007 R2?

  Hey all, I'm performing a test configuration of System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2, on a system prepared with Sql Server 2008 R2. Unfortunately, the Scom 2007 R2 prerequisites verification program seems to be detecting exact versions of Sql Server, and not simply a minimum version, like it claims: "System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 requires SQL Server 2005 Standard or Enterprise Edition with SP1 and above or SQL Server 2008 Standard or Enterprise edition with SP1 and above. Note: Operations Manager 2007 R2 does not support a 32-bit Operations Manager Operations database, Reporting Server data warehouse or Audit Collection database on a 64-bit operating system." I had hoped that this was just a helper tool that was assisting in getting me off the ground, but unfortunately it seems as if it's actually used as a gate for the installation to proceed. Has anyone encountered this? If so, is there a way to fool the installer into thinking that it has a proper version, or otherwise alert it to my valid configuration?

  I have an exchange sever 2003 installed and working. I have a new exchange 2007 server on another network. The two networks are completely separate with no connection. How can I take the 2003 mailboxes and put them on the new 2007 system? The move mailbox normal option on 2007 will not be able to see the old 2003 exchange server. I was hoping I could just copy the database and mount it, but this doesnot seem to work. Thanks

• What Triggers a syncronization between Exchange 2007 Mail Store and Edge Servers?

  We are using Exchange 2007 for our mail. In our configuration, we need to add an alias to each users mailbox. When we do, the Edge server, another Exchange 2007 box, will reject the alias with a User Unknown error until the next morning. I seem to recall that in Exchange 2003, you could force an update from the Management console, but I can not find a way in 2007. It is obvious that a sync job is scheduled to run each night, but I cannot find it.
