  • Making your class an event source in Java

    - by Crystal
I'm making a custom button in Java that has two states, mousePressed, and mouseReleased. At the same time, if I wanted to reuse this button, so that other event listeners can register with it, are these the appropriate steps I should do: override addActionListener(ActionListener action) override removeActionListener(ActionListener action) have a private variable like List <ActionListener> list = new List <ActionListener>() to keep track of when events get added and some sort of function with for loop to run all the actions: public void runListeners() { for (ActionListener al : list) { al.actionPerfomed; } } I'm not really sure if this is the way you can do it or if there are other things I am missing. Like does my custom class have to be implements ActionListener? Thanks.

  • google maps v3 distance

    - by Shane
Trying to create a new version of the map functions seen here: http://www.daftlogic.com/projects-google-maps-distance-calculator.htm but using the v3 api. So far I am able to set markers on click and can draw the geodesic polyline. The issues I am currently running into are: Updating the poly-line on marker drag I'm pretty sure I have to put each marker in an array and do a for loop so that I can keep clicking and adding points that will add to the total distance. Properly displaying distance. I have created a jsfiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/wyZyS/ EDIT: I realize I have nothing calling the "update" function. I am trying to create the array for each marker currently. The calculation you see is converting meters to nautical miles.

  • "The C Programming Language" interesting quote in the preface

    - by kurige
From the preface of the second edition of Kernighan and Ritchie's "The C Programming Language": As before, all examples have been tested directly from the text, which is in machine-readable form. That quote threw me for a loop. What exactly does it mean? Was the original manuscript written as a literate program? My first thought was that this book, published in 1988 (original, first edition in 1978) predates literate programming, but now I'm not so sure. Can anybody shed some light on this?

  • Efficient calculation of matrix cumulative standard deviation in r

    - by Abiel
I recently posted this question on the r-help mailing list but got no answers, so I thought I would post it here as well and see if there were any suggestions. I am trying to calculate the cumulative standard deviation of a matrix. I want a function that accepts a matrix and returns a matrix of the same size where output cell (i,j) is set to the standard deviation of input column j between rows 1 and i. NAs should be ignored, unless cell (i,j) of the input matrix itself is NA, in which case cell (i,j) of the output matrix should also be NA. I could not find a built-in function, so I implemented the following code. Unfortunately, this uses a loop that ends up being somewhat slow for large matrices. Is there a faster built-in function or can someone suggest a better approach? cumsd <- function(mat) { retval <- mat*NA for (i in 2:nrow(mat)) retval[i,] <- sd(mat[1:i,], na.rm=T) retval[is.na(mat)] <- NA retval } Thanks.

  • Outputing resized animated gif to browser using imagick

    - by Freeman
I intent to resize an animated gif and outputing it to the browser on-the-fly. My problem is that when I save the resized image it is of good quality, but if I echo it to the browser it is of poor quality and the animation is removed. Here is the code:` header("Content-type:image/gif"); try { /* Read in the animated gif */ $animation = new Imagick("images/nikks.gif"); /*** Loop through the frames ***/ foreach ($animation as $frame) { /*** Thumbnail each frame ***/ $frame->thumbnailImage(200, 200); /*** Set virtual canvas size to 100x100 ***/ $frame->setImagePage(200, 200, 0, 0); } /*** Write image to disk. Notice writeImages instead of writeImage ***/ //$animation->writeImages("images/nikkyo1.gif",true); echo $animation; } catch(Exception $e) { echo $e-getMessage(); } `

  • Passing an array of data as an input parameter to an Oracle procedure

    - by Sathya
I'm trying to pass an array of (varchar) data into an Oracle procedure. The Oracle procedure would be either called from SQL*Plus or from another PL/SQL procedure like so: BEGIN pr_perform_task('1','2','3','4'); END; pr_perform_task will read each of the input parameters and perform the tasks. I'm not sure as to how I can achieve this. My first thought was to use an input parameter of type varray but I'm getting Error: PLS-00201: identifier 'VARRAY' must be declared error, when the procedure definiton looks like this: CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE PR_DELETE_RECORD_VARRAY(P_ID VARRAY) IS To summarize, how can I pass the data as an array, let the SP loop through each of the parameters and perform the task ? I'm using Oracle 10gR2 as my database.

  • Progress bar increment by 1 every 100th of second

    - by Matthew De'Loughry
I'm trying to get a JProgressBar to increment by 1 every 100th of a second, and at the moment I'm using Thread.sleep(100) inside a while statement like so: try { while (i<=100){ doTime(); } } catch (InterruptedException ex) { Logger.getLogger(SplashScreen.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex); } public void doTime() throws InterruptedException{ jLabel1.setText("sleeping"); Thread.sleep(100); jLabel1.setText("start"); i++; pb.setValue(i); pb.repaint(); } and If I debug by doing a System.out.println it displays in real time but the swing GUI freezes until it drops out of the while loop can anyone help? thanks matt

  • Redirect in combination with a rewrite condition in htaccess

    - by Robbert van den Bogerd
Hi all! I've got a cms-driven website, with no option to change the code. What I want to accomplish is creating friendly url's, using only apaches mod-rewrite engine. The problem is I'm creating an infinite loop, because I first redirect the original url (index.php?id=21) to a friendly one (/friendly/) and then rewrite the '/friendly' part back to 'id=21' I know there should be an extra condition or parameter to avoid looping in this case, but I can´t get one of the possible solutions to work. Here´s the code: RewriteCond %{query_string} ^id=21$ [NC] RewriteRule /* /peuterspeelzaal? [R=301,L] RewriteRule ^peuterspeelzaal$ index.php?id=21 [L]

  • Basic Profanity Filter in Objective C for iPhone

    - by David van Dugteren
How have you like minded individuals tackled the basic challenge of filtering profanity, obviously one can't possibly tackle every scenario but it would be nice to have one at the most basic level as a first line of defense. In Obj-c I've got NSString *tokens = [text componentsSeparatedByString:@" "]; And then I loop through each token to see if any of the keywords (I've got about 400 in a list) are found within each token. Realising False positives are also a problem, if the word is a perfect match, its flagged as profanity otherwise if more than 3 words with profanity are found without being perfect matches it is also flagged as profanity. Later on I will use a webservice that tackles the problem more precisely, but I really just need something basic. So if you wrote the word penis it would go yup naughty naughty, bad word written.

  • Custom field not showing in Custom Content Type

    - by BeraCim
Hi all: I created a custom column in a custom content type in a Sharepoint Web manually (e.g. /MySite/MyWeb). I now want to programmatically copy this content type across to another web (e.g. /MySite/MyWeb2). However, upon looping through the custom content type in code, I could only find 2 fields: Content Type and Title (expected: Title and custom column). The custom column was missing. I'm very sure that the content type and field are added at the web level. The custom content type is inherited from Item. When I loop through the web's fields, I can see the custom column, and that was copied to the new web. It is only within the content type that the custom column is not showing up. Any ideas why this is happening? Thanks.

  • Windows batch file to list folders that have a specific file in them

    - by Lee
I'm trying to create a file that has a list of directories that have a specific file name in them. Let's say I'm trying to find directories that have a file named *.joe in them. I initially tried just a simple dir /ad *.joe > dir_list.txt , but it searches the directory names for *.joe, so no go. Then I concluded that a for loop was probably my best bet. I started with for /d /r %a in ('dir *.joe /b') do @echo %a >> dir_list.txt and it looked like it wasn't executing the dir command. I added the "usebackq", but that seems to only work for the /F command extension. Ideas?

  • Anchoring the Action URL of a Form

    - by John
Hello, I am using a function that leads users to a file called "comments2.php": <form action="http://www...com/.../comments/comments2.php" method="post"> On comments2.php, data passed over from the form is inserted into MySQL: $query = sprintf("INSERT INTO comment VALUES (NULL, %d, %d, '%s', NULL)", $uid, $subid, $comment); mysql_query($query) or die(mysql_error()); Then, later in comments2.php, I am using a query that loops through entries meeting certain criteria. The loop contains a row with the following information: echo '<td rowspan="3" class="commentname1" id="comment-' . $row["commentid"] . '">'.stripslashes($row["comment"]).'</td>'; For the function above, I would like the URL to be anchored by the highest value of "commentid" for id="comment-' . $row["commentid"] . '" How can this be done? Thanks in advance, John

  • How can I write a power function myself?

    - by Koning WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
Since I was 12, I was always wondering how I can make a function which calculates the power (e.g. 23) myself. In most languages these are included in the standard library, mostly as pow(double x, double y), but how can I write it myself? I was thinking about for loops, but it think my brain got in a loop (when I wanted to do a power with a non-integer exponent, like 54.5 or negatives 2-21) and I went crazy ;) So, how can I write a function which calculates the power of a real number? Thanks

  • CORE DATA objectId changes constantly

    - by mongeta
Hello, I have some data that I export into an XML file and put in a remote FTP Server. I have to identified each object with a unique attribute, it doesn't matter wich is, but must be persistent always = it can never change. I don't want to create a unique attribute, sequence, serial, etc. I'm using the objectID but every time I use it a get a new reference. I know that before the object has been saved, it has a 'temporal id', but once it's saved, it gets the definitive. I'm not seeing this, never. When I export, just fetch all data and loop, and always I get a new reference: NSURL *objectID = [[personalDataObject objectID] URIRepresentation]; // some of id received for the SAME OBJECT (no changes made, saved, ...) // 61993296 // 62194624 thanks, r. edit I was using %d instead of %@, now the returned data is: x-coredata://F46F3300-8FED-4876-B0BF-E4D2A9D80913/DataEntered/p1 x-coredata://F46F3300-8FED-4876-B0BF-E4D2A9D80913/DataEntered/p2

  • Git Status Across Multiple Repositories on a Mac

    - by eapen
I have been searching for a solution to this for a while and have not found quite what I need. I have several Git Repositories in a folder on my Mac (OSX 10.6) and would like a script or tool that will loop through all the repositories and let me know if any of them needs "commit"-ing. This is my structure Sites   /project1   /project2   /project3 I want the tool to do a "git status" in Sites/project1, Sites/project2, Sites/project3 and let me know if Sites/project2 and Sites/project3 have changes or new files and needs to be Staged/committed The closest script I found that might be hackable is here: http://gist.github.com/371828 but even that script wouldn't run and I get an error: "syntax error near unexpected token `do" which might have been written for *nix.

  • Make Map Key Sorted According To Insert Sequence

    - by Yan Cheng CHEOK
    Without help from additional container (like vector), is it possible that I can make map's key sorted same sequence as insertion sequence? #include <map> #include <iostream> using namespace std; int main() { map<const char*, int> m; m["c"] = 2; m["b"] = 2; m["a"] = 2; m["d"] = 2; for (map<const char*, int>::iterator begin = m.begin(); begin != m.end(); begin++) { // How can I get the loop sequence same as my insert sequence. // c, b, a, d std::cout << begin->first << std::endl; } getchar(); }

  • Evaluating Django Chained QuerySets Locally

    - by jnadro52
Hello All: I am hoping someone can help me out with a quick question I have regarding chaining Django querysets. I am noticing a slow down because I am evaluating many data points in the database to create data trends. I was wondering if there was a way to have the chained filters evaluated locally instead of hitting the database. Here is a (crude) example: pastries = Bakery.objects.filter(productType='pastry') # <--- will obviously always hit DB, when evaluated cannoli = pastries.filter(specificType='cannoli') # <--- can this be evaluated locally instead of hitting the DB when evaluated, as long as pastries was evaluated? I have checked the docs and I do not see anything specifying this, so I guess it's not possible, but I wanted to check with the 'braintrust' first ;-). BTW - I know that I can do this myself by implementing some methods to loop through these datapoints and evaluate the criteria, but there are so many datapoints that my deadline does not permit me manually implementing this. Thanks in advance.

  • How to iterate over an array of objects without foreach and ArrayAccess

    - by kenny99
    Hi, I'm having to develop a site on PHP 5.1.6 and I've just come across a bug in my site which isn't happening on 5.2+. When using foreach() to iterate over an object, I get the following error: "Fatal error: Objects used as arrays in post/pre increment/decrement must return values by reference..." Does anyone know how to convert the following foreach loop to a construct which will work with 5.1.6? Thanks in advance! foreach ($post['commercial_brands'] as $brand) { $comm_food = new Commercial_food_Model; $comm_food->brand = $brand; $comm_food->feeding_type_id = $f_type->id; $comm_food->save(); }

  • overlay text on some else's window - HUD

    - by taglius
I am interested in writing an app that overlays a small heads up display (HUD) over another application, in VB.NET. Does anyone have an example of this? I will need to enumerate all open windows to find the window that I want, and then overlay some text in a specific position on the window. If the user moves that window, my text will need to follow. (I will probably be painting the text in a loop over and over). Edit: nobody answered my original query - I added C# to the keywords to see if any of gurus in that language might have an answer. thanks.

  • tidy/efficient function writing in R

    - by romunov
Excuse my ignorance, as I'm not a computer engineer but with roots in biology. I have become a great fan of pre-allocating objects (kudos to SO and R inferno by Patrick Burns) and would like to improve my coding habits. In lieu of this fact, I've been thinking about writing more efficient functions and have the following question. Is there any benefits in removing variables that will be overwritten at the start of the next loop, or is this just a waste of time? For the sake of argument, let's assume that the size of old and new variables is very similar or identical.

  • How can I eliminate an element in a vector if a condition is met

    - by michael
Hi, I have a vector of Rect: vector<Rect> myRecVec; I would like to remove the ones which are overlapping in the vector: So I have 2 nested loop like this: vector<Rect>::iterator iter1 = myRecVec.begin(); vector<Rect>::iterator iter2 = myRecVec.begin(); while( iter1 != myRecVec.end() ) { Rectangle r1 = *iter1; while( iter2 != myRecVec.end() ) { Rectangle r2 = *iter1; if (r1 != r2) { if (r1.intersects(r2)) { // remove r2 from myRectVec } } } } My question is how can I remove r2 from the myRectVect without screwing up both my iterators? Since I am iterating a vector and modifying the vector at the same time? I have thought about putting r2 in a temp rectVect and then remove them from the rectVect later (after the iteration). But how can I skip the ones in this temp rectVect during iteration?

  • C++ iostream not setting eof bit even if gcount returns 0

    - by raph.amiard
Hi I'm developping an application under windows, and i'm using fstreams to read and write to the file. I'm writing with fstream opened like this : fs.open(this->filename.c_str(), std::ios::in|std::ios::out|std::ios::binary); and writing with this command fs.write(reinterpret_cast<char*>(&e.element), sizeof(T)); closing the file after each write with fs.close() Reading with ifstream opened like this : is.open(filename, std::ios::in); and reading with this command : is.read(reinterpret_cast<char*>(&e.element), sizeof(T)); The write is going fine. However, i read in a loop this way : while(!is.eof()) { is.read(reinterpret_cast<char*>(&e.element), sizeof(T)); } and the program keeps reading, even though the end of file should be reached. istellg pos is 0, and gcount is equal to 0 too, but the fail bit and eof bit are both ok. I'm running crazy over this, need some help ...

  • python iterators and thread-safety

    - by Igor
I have a class which is being operated on by two functions. One function creates a list of widgets and writes it into the class: def updateWidgets(self): widgets = self.generateWidgetList() self.widgets = widgets the other function deals with the widgets in some way: def workOnWidgets(self): for widget in self.widgets: self.workOnWidget(widget) each of these functions runs in it's own thread. the question is, what happens if the updateWidgets() thread executes while the workOnWidgets() thread is running? I am assuming that the iterator created as part of the for...in loop will keep some kind of reference to the old self.widgets object? So I will finish iterating over the old list... but I'd love to know for sure.

  • What is the fastest way to trim blank lines from beginning and end of array?

    - by Edward Tanguay
    This script: <?php $lines[] = ''; $lines[] = 'first line '; $lines[] = 'second line '; $lines[] = ''; $lines[] = 'fourth line'; $lines[] = ''; $lines[] = ''; $lineCount = 1; foreach($lines as $line) { echo $lineCount . ': [' . trim($line) . ']<br/>'; $lineCount++; } ?> produces this output: 1: [] 2: [first line] 3: [second line] 4: [] 5: [fourth line] 6: [] 7: [] What is the fastest, most efficient way to change the above script so that it also deletes the preceding and trailing blank entries but not the interior blank entries so that it outputs this: 1: [first line] 2: [second line] 3: [] 4: [fourth line] I could use the foreach loop but I imagine there is a way with array_filter or something similar which is much more efficient.
