• Mac Server bizzare routing table

  My mac routing table usually is very simple. I know it's based on bsd , but what's it doing or trying to do. My routing table is usually very simple however, the second one, default was point to link5 ? Is this normal, or is this IPV6 craziness at work? • Linux servers going into Halt when pressing Control-D in putty or exit in the shell

  Since today at noon, there's a number of Linux CentOS servers which are going to Halt whenever i type exit or use Control-D to close the putty window. Did anyone encounter this weird behavior before? I've checked the aliases list on the servers and there is no alias regarding halt command. After the server came online i've checked the history and saw a "logout" command there but nothing which is related to Halt. At first, i thought it happens only from my computer but later i realized that it happens to everyone which types exit, logout or control+d. 2 of these server are our main iptables firewalls and so it's super critical, your assistance is much appreciated.   I have a list view with virtual mode set to true and other things. It doing ok. But 1) Say there are 25 items and 15 of them are visible, that is to see the rest of 10 items need to scroll down. 2) Before scrolling swap two items, say myItems[0], it must be visible & myItems[20], it must be not visible scroll required. 3) Now select the first item, it was swapped, you now have two items selected, both 0 indexed and 20 indexed ones. When after swap, those two list view items are of same Position and same Bounds. But before 20-indexed item's Position was (-1, -1) and Bounds was (0,0,0,0). How come 0-indexed item didn't change its position & size? How to solve this ?

  Hello, I have installed SQL Server 2008 Developer on Windows 7 64 bit. In Management Studio I cannot register the default instance MSSQLSERVER, it cannot find it although the service is running. I get the message: Cannot connect to PHOENIX\MSSQLSERVER. A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 25 - Connection string is not valid) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 87) However Management Studio does show the SQL Server 2005 Express instance (that was installed with VS 2008 Pro) which appeared as already registered. I an using Windows Authentication as I installed it in mixed mode. Any ideas would be appreciated, many thanks paul

• Problem evaluating NULL in an IIF statement (Access)

  Item in the recordset rstImportData("Flat Size") is = Null With that, given the following statement: IIF(IsNull(rstImportData("Flat Size")), Null, cstr(rstImportData("Flat Size"))) Result: Throws error 94: Invalid use of Null If I change the statement by removing the type conversion upon a false comparison: IIF(IsNull(rstImportData("Flat Size")), Null, 0) Result: Null It returns Null as it should have the first time. It appears that I cannot do a type conversion in an IIF if the value passed in should ever be null even if it passes an IIF test, it still attempts to evaluate it at both the true and false answer. The only reason I'm using IIF like this is because I have a 25 line comparison to compare data from an Import against a matching record in a database to see if I need to append the prior to history. Any thoughts? The way data is imported there will be null dates and where the spreadsheet import is in a string format I must convert either side to the other to compare the values properly but if either side is null this exception occurs :(

• What alternatives are there in OS projects for c# similar to Joomla/Mambo/Drupal?

  I'm beginning a project with a client to build a web application and I'm a little stuck on which solution to go with. I've used Joomla for many clients in the past, but this client has specific requests that I KNOW I'm going to have to build myself. The problem I'm facing is that I work full time under the .NET spectrum and while I am a novice developer in PHP, and I've been studying Joomla's plug in architecture for about a month now, I am a lot more comfortable building something in ASP.NET than I am in PHP. My question is, what OS projects are out there that have a similar community following as Joomla/Mambo/Drupal, along with a plug in architecture that is somewhat akin to Joomla as well? I don't really have the time to build out a full blown CMS system in ASP.NET, but if something already exists that can give me X% (25%, 50%, something) of what Joomla has that will at least get me on the right path. Joomla just has too many extensions and too much of a community backing for me to pass it up if there's not something comparable in the ASP.NET realm.

• Is being a programmer a younger person's job?

  After you get old, say past 30 or 40. Can you still keep up with the young coders from your company, those fresh out of school, who can code for 15+ hours on 10 cans of redbulls (most people in Google, Facebook, etc) ? And given the lightning speed with which today's programming frameworks and architectures evolve, can you keep up with the most up to date stuff and be as proficient at them as the next college grad? I know for jobs like unix/c/embedded programming, it might be that the older the better. But for programming jobs in say web development, social media, search engine technology, etc. Do you become less and less competitive career-wise versus youngsters? For example, most coders in Google and Facebook, I believe are under 25 years old. In other words, once you reach a certain age, would it be unwise to continue to be a coder, and is it better to try becoming a project manager or architect?

• Scale image to completely fill bounding box

  For instance, if I need to fill a bounding box that is 100px wide by 50px tall, the following input images would have the following behavior: 200w x 200h gets scaled down 50% and 25% gets chopped off the top and bottom. 200w x 100h gets scaled down 50% with no cropping. 100w x 200h gets is not scaled, but 75px get chopped off top and bottom. This seems like it'd be a common resizing function, but I haven't been able to track down an example of the algorithm. Will accept answer in any language including pseudo code. A link to a page with the answer is great too!
