• Windows 8 Microsoft Account and Microsoft Store doesn't allow login

  The problem is that I have to go through proxy here in college to make my internet work. When I signed with my live id to switch to the Microsoft account in Windows 8, it recognized and validate my security questions but says it cannot connect to Microsoft Services. All other apps like mail, messenger, etc. work except for the Windows Store. The windows store what apps are available but when installed, queues it up for a pending download. Is there a way to modify my proxy settings so that I can access both these features?

  I'm connected to the internet via a mikrotik server network. Recently, I read about that scaring application named Cain & Abel and all the capabilities it offered for malicious users. I don't know if anyone on my network is using or even aware of such application but my questions are: 1- How to protect myself from this program? 2- How to know if someone using such application against me? 3- Is Tor Bundle capable of protecting me from Cain & Abel? 4- If I filled my e-mail password via SSL page, Can Cain & Abel collect it? 5- Is it safe to use SKYPE or Yahoo Messenger voice chat if some one using Cain & Abel on my network?

• Dynamic procmail filters

  i need procmail to place incoming mail into specific folder depending on some set of rules. I know how i can accomplish this, but i need to write static set of rules in a specific file. What i really need is to configure procmail to use rules stored in mysql database. How i can do this? I've read a bit about that and one solution i found is to pipe message to a php/perl script and return a folder name to place message. But i have completely no i idea how to use php script as a rule and then use its return value.

• Thunderbird: moving email from local Junk folder to IMAP folder yields "Message contains invalid header"

  Whenever I try to move an email from a local Junk folder to an IMAP folder in Thunderbird, I get the following error message: The current command did not succeed. The mail server responded: Message contains invalid header If Thunderbird's Junk folder is an IMAP folder on the server, then after Thunderbird has moved messages to that folder, I can successfully move messages from Junk back into to some other IMAP folder. However, if the Junk folder is not on the server, then moving a message from the local Junk folder to an IMAP folder yields the aforementioned error. The only interesting thing I've found about this error is "Message contains invalid header" from the MozillaZine Knowledge Base. That article officially is about importing folders from another email client, and does not mention the Junk filter as another possible cause. However the proposed solution is not very helpful since it requires manual editing of the message box files. Any better ideas? EDIT: make sure you read the comments before answering the question.

  I recently installed a postfix + dovecot + dkim multi domain, multi user, multi alias mail server on my debian squeeze system. Everything works except for one big issue that basically makes the whole thing useless: Every single email sent by my server goes straight into spam. (gmail, hotmail) First thing i did is doing the well known allaboutspam test and all is checked (green) except for the BATV thing (yellow): Reverse dns: green HELO Greeting: green RBL: green BATV: yellow SPF: green DKIM: green URIBL: green SPAMAssassin: green Greylist: green I'm really confused and i can't see a way to solve this issue.   I have seen a disturbing trend where websites are starting to require verification sent to cellphones by text message (SMS). Gmail and Facebook are two of them. What I want to know are the following: Is it a good idea to start requiring cellphones instead of emails now? How do I do it on my own website? Edit Here are some of my new questions on the topic in response to the answers: I see that most of you are saying that SMS registrations is ok. But what about the people who don't have cell phones? And why is it accepted to give out your cell phone information freely? Do those big providers really pay per message to a gateway service? Is it not possible to set up a server with the correct SMS software, or at least buy a subscription directly instead of having a middleman?

  I would like to install a Test/Dummy SMTP server on a Windows 2008 server (virtual box). I just want to test my web application on the machine it self so I don't need the mails to go out on the internet, but just to be written to disk (so that I can verify that the mail function was indeed called and the correct data was handed over to SMTP) Can you recommend some tool. I guess starting your own SMTP server in python is an option. I am looking for a simple (ready to use) solution, targeted for tests systems. • Log "date -s" command

  Hi, I know that the date -s <STRING> command sets the time described by the string STRING. What i want is to log the above command whenever it is used to set the time into the file /tmp/log/user.log. In my Linux distribution the logging is done by syslog-ng. I already have some logs going into /tmp/log/user.log. This is the content of /etc/syslog-ng/syslog-ng.conf in my system for logging into /tmp/log/user.log destination d_notice { file("/tmp/log/user.log");}; filter f_filter10 { level(notice) and not facility(mail,authpriv,cron); }; log { source(s_sys); filter(f_filter10); destination(d_notice); }; What should i do so that date -s command is also logged into /tmp/log/user.log

• postfix uses hostname instead of myhostname.

  Hi there, I am trying to set up an outgoing mail server for sending emails which is to relay to our ISP. In /etc/postfix/main.cf I have myhostname to ourcompany.example.com and myorigin and mydomain to $myhostname. ourcompany.example.com is resolvable. But looking at the logs in /var/log/maillog it appears that postfix does use the myhostname for the send address, but uses whatever from getmyhostname(), which is set to an internal DNS name since this is an internal server and we only send email out, but not handling incoming email. Any ideas?

• Sendmail relay out of Amazon EC2?

  I have a site running on CentOS 5.4 through Amazon EC2. Unfortunately, Amazon has had nothing but trouble with their entire IP range getting black listed from spam tracking services regularly. I need a mail server, so I setup an smtp server elsewhere that I want to send to, but I can't just send directly to it through PHP because the direct smtp request is way too slow. What I want to do is relay through sendmail, but I've never used sendmail before, so I have no idea how to configure it. All I want is for all emails sent from localhost to be relayed to one specific external server, but I don't know how to do that. I tried to find a tutorial online, but couldn't find anything that was particularly clear as to how I go about doing that. Can anyone help me out?

When I try to point my blog to my domain name, I came to know about the various types of DNS records - A Records, AAA Records, MX Records, CNAME Records, NS Records, TXT Records, SRV Records, SOA Records, etc. I searched on Google, but would like to know more about these deeply. • Undeliverable messages to newly migrated Exchange user

  We are in the process of migrating from our old domain to a new one, part of which involves migrating mailboxes from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007. A bunch of users have been migrated already without problems. However, one of the users is having trouble receiving emails from others. When someone sends to him, they get an Undeliverable NDR that says "A configuration error in the e-mail system caused the message to bounce between two servers or to be forwarded between two recipients." The message shows the user's distinguished name as /OU=OurDomain/CN=Recipients/CN=USER57137172. The user's account name should just be "USER", so I don't know where the extra numbers ("57137172") are coming from. Thanks in advance.

• Installing Collective Access

  I am VERY new to installing any type of server program and to running any opensource type software in general. I am running Windows Server 2008R2. I want to install Collective Access to run locally only on my Intranet at home. So my host is localhost I sucessfully installed PHP and MYSQL. I installed CA in this directory C:/inetpub/wwwroot/collectiveaccess. 1st. I do not want to send mail through collective access. Will it install without all the email information? Can I comment those requirements out in the global config and setup.php file? 2nd I am getting the error. • Migrate Thunderbird 3 Saved Searches Between Accounts

  Long story short, the sysadmins have moved me to a new mailserver. In the process, they needed to create a separate account in Thunderbird and disable my old account. They took care of all of the mail migration. However, my saved search folders didn't go along for the ride. I have over 20 complex searches that I'd rather not have to reenter manually by hand. You can't drag saved searches between accounts like other folders. I tried closing Thunderbird, doing a find/replace in virtualFolders.dat in my Thunderbird profile folder, saving that file, and reopening Thunderbird, but that didn't appear to do anything. I'm assuming the search folders are also saved in one of the sqlite databases... does anyone know where to look?

Presumably, I will have to modify some settings in /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf, but I am hesitant to change the default settings lest I create other security vulnerabilities.

  XP is my host. Ubuntu is my Guest in VMware. When I do the following commands, I should get SMTP respones but now get no response. I use wireshark to analayze it. • How to make outlook.com/Office 365 use plain text and/or conventional quotes?

  I am forced to use the web version of Outlook at Office 365. I really dislike how it formats e-mail as well as how it handles quoting when replying. In the desktop version of Outlook you can at least force it too display the messages in plain text and then you can manually bottom post/post interleaved. Plain text also changes how it handles quotes: " " is used rather than some braindead RTF version of format=flowed (I like format=flowed when it is implemented without bugs) although the attribution line is completely useless but in the online version I can't find a way to achieve even this. Any ideas? I guess a Greasemonkey script could do this?

• Exim force TLS for specific destination domain

  Hi, I need to configure Exim to require TLS when sending emails to a specific domain. I know that I can use hosts_require_tls = host in the smtp transport. But it sounds like that requires that I set the host of the receiving mail server. I would instead like to specify the domain. Also, if I use this, will all other hosts/domains work without TLS? • Thunderbird Reply2All mistake when having two addresses

  I have a Gmail account and a second email address. The mail from this second address is forwarded to the Gmail address. I use Thunderbird to read my email, but there's a little problem with the Reply2All feature. See, I have one of the addresses registered as my email address in Thunderbird. If somebody sends me an email on the other address, and I click reply 2 all, it doesn't recognize that address as mine, so it adds it to the recipient list - I am mailing myself. Anything I can do to fix this? Some way to let TB recognize both addresses?

• Restoring web session in struts2

  Hi, I have a classical scenario of a website and payment gateway integration, where the request for payment is sent to payment processor, and the payment processor calls back my application once it's done with some parameters I passed to it in the original request. Among parameters, we pass jsessionid and we expect that when the remote server makes request to our server (via customer browser redirect to our server) that the session will be the same as the session used to send the initial payment request. This does not happen, we have two different sessions, although the payment processor includes our original jsessionid in the request to us (https://blabla/?jsessionid=something). How should we go about recreating a session in struts2, in the only thing that connects the 'OLD' and 'NEW' session is the jsessionid in the request URL? Any ideas? Is this possible at all or is the 'OLD' session data deleted when the user moves away from our server onto a completely different domain of a payment processor with their data-entry form? This would explain our innability to recreate the session. Thanks a lot for your replies.

• Exchange ActiveSync does not work for one user

  One particular user in our system is unable to connect to Exchange ActiveSync via her iPhone. When I try to connect using my own credentials on her iPhone it works (everything begins syncing), but when I input her credentials, the Settings app verifies the credentials are correct but nothing syncs. For example, if I open Mail, no items are shown. When I attempt to force a sync, it says "Cannot connect to server." In Exchange 2010 Management Console the user is no different than the others. Exchange ActiveSync is set as "Enable" in Mailbox Features. EDIT: Alternatively, if there is some easy way to create a new useraccount/mailbox and copy all of the contents of the old one over, I bet it would work, and that would be fine as well. She is a Mac user so we do not have to worry about her Active Directory account.
