  • Bubbling up events . .

    I have multiple layers in an application and i find myself having to bubble up events to the GUI layer for doing status bar changes, etc . . I find myself having to write repeated coded where each layer simply subscribes to events from the lower layer and then in the call back simply raise an event up the chain. Is there a more efficient way of doing this?

    I am trying to learn how to do stuff in Android, and I'm not sure of the best way to build the interface. I've been working on porting an iPhone app, which uses navigation controllers and table views for looking at the different sections: basically, someone touches a cell in the table, which drills down to another table. when they touch a cell on that table it drills down to a webview that displays the information. I want to do something similar for the android app, but I don't know how, or if there is a better way native to Android. I've figured out how to use the webview to my purposes, but moving forward and backward in the table tree is unclear.

    I have a winform application to compress and move some files. When I try to access a path on my desktop, I get an unauthorisedaccess exception. I am running visual studio as administrator (says that in the program bar) and I am a full admin on my machine (can access other accounts, etc). How can I acess this path (folder)?     On a webpage, is it possible to split large files into chunks before the file is uploaded to the server? For example, split a 10MB file into 1MB chunks, and upload one chunk at a time while showing a progress bar? It sounds like JavaScript doesn't have any file manipulation abilities, but what about Flash and Java applets? This would need to work in IE6+, Firefox and Chrome. Update: forgot to mention that (a) we are using Grails and (b) this needs to run over https.

    Hi, I have need to communicate between two iframes of the same domain, which live inside a parent page on a different domain that I have no control over. This is a Facebook app and the basic layout is this apps.facebook.com/myapp L iframe1 (src='mysite.com/foo') L iframe2 (src='mysite.com/bar') I need frame1 to talk to frame2, but in Opera I can't access window.parent.frames['frame2'] to do the usual cross-domain methods (updating location.hash for example) Is there an alternate way to accomplish this in Opera?     I have several locations in tables in a mysql database which i want to have displayed as POI's, the table is too large and changes too frequently to use sql lite so i need to get the info from mysql. I have set up a mapView indicating the device location in mapview using an image at drawable, but i now need to ad the other locations from the database. Then when a user clicks on an item i need a popup with options to route there using google maps navigation, or view mobi site, phone, or email. I am new to android. Please assist. Have gone through the overlay tut but no indication on how to get the info from db. Is there a tut somwhere so i can see some example code to do this?

    I want to change the link-style for some of my links, like this: a:hover { /* These links will be blue when hovered-over */ background-color: #3366FF; } However, I only want this to take effect in my Navigation Bar, and not for regular links. I have tried variations on this: #navbar a:hover { /* These links will be blue when hovered-over */ background-color: #3366FF; } With the intended meaning "this only applies to links with <div id="navbar">" But it didn't work. How can I set the style for only certain links, defined by the class or id of their container?

    I've been using a lot of slideshows recently on my sites and one thing thats puzzled me is using more than one slideshow per page. I'm currently working on my own site, experimenting with Jquery Accordion. I've managed to adopt a very simple javascript slideshow, see below: http://dvpwebdesign.com/test/accordion/blank.html However i'm unable to either incorporate or use a different multiple slideshow plugin. I dont need slideshow navigation, so the The Cycle plugin works really well and i know you can use multiple slideshows. But if i either use Cycle alongside the current javascript slideshow, or only use the Cycle slideshow to avoid any possible conflict, the Accordion menu stops working. I just cant see what i am doing wrong, can anyone help?

    In my tabbar application I am adding Navigation controller in each tab. Suppose the selected index is 0 when I opening the app.In my 3rd tab(selected index=2) I want to change the text colour of navigationbar title.And I am using the code [[UINavigationBar appearance] setTitleTextAttributes: [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: [UIColor greenColor],UITextAttributeTextColor,nil]]; But its not changing the text color of Index 0 and 2.Colour of index 1 will change only if that tab was not clicked before changing the colour by using the above code. I don't know whats is the issue ? Any help/code will be appreciable.

  • Forwarding activity result to parent, with singleTop launch mode

    I have two activities: a MainListActivity, and a DetailViewActivity. DetailViewActivity is set with android:launchMode="singleTop". When clicking an item in the "main list" activity, it launches the "detail view" activity via: startActivityForResult(detailIntent, REQUEST_CODE_DETAIL); If I then call setResult(RESULT_OK, resultData); and finish(); from within the Detail activity, that resultData is received by the "main list" activity's onActivityResult(..) method correctly. However, if I implement a "see previous"/"see next" type of navigation within the Detail activity, and implement it using singleTop, that result no longer gets sent back to the initial activity: Intent nextItemIntent = this.createIntent(nextId); nextItemIntent.setFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_FORWARD_RESULT); startActivity(nextItemIntent); // at this point, my DetailActivity's onNewIntent() method is called, and the new data is loaded properly But from here, when I call setResult(..) and finish(), my MainList activity never receives the new/updated result. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

  • Putting newline in matplotlib label with TeX in Python?

    How can I add a newline to a plot's label (e.g. xlabel or ylabel) in Matplotlib? For example, plt.bar([1, 2], [4, 5]) plt.xlabel("My x label") plt.ylabel(r"My long label with $\Sigma_{C}$ math \n continues here") Ideally i'd like the y-labeled to be centered too. Is there a way to do this? It's important that the label have both tex (enclosed in '$') and the newline. thanks.
