  I'm adding business listings to an existing website of which Google has sort of been referencing well but my Meta tags have a lot to be desired! Due to other work commitments I have kind of neglected the site but now think I should put the proper time and effort into getting it just right as it does earn me money. I am a developer so I have all the necessary skills to build the site, it's almost done!. Now I'm just a little worried that I could do something wrong and loose the rapport I've built up with Google in the past or be ban. Especially with the new tags I see like: <link rel=”publisher” href=”https://plus.google.com/[YOUR BUSINESS G+ PROFILE HERE]“/> Really I just want to know for now, is this the place to ask SEO question?

• Site loads Extremely slowly over HTTPS; loads perfectly over HTTP - Sudden and new issue

  My business' website suddenly started loading extremely slowly over HTTPS last night and continues through today. The facts: Page loadtime via HTTPS - 2 minutes +, HTTP - 3 seconds max. NO updates were done on any site files in the past 2 weeks. This is on Shared Hosting HTTPS has worked perfectly over the past 9 months then suddenly failed yesterday. Hosting company and SSL issuer say there are no problems on their end. - Searches for others having similar issues return no results, it appears to be just me... Site is primarily run via php/mysql Currently attempted troubleshooting: Tried all major browsers and different versions - same result. Tried 2 separate ISPs - same result. Tried proxies - same result. Tried 3 separate computers - same result. I'm basically at a total loss here. Does anyone know what could cause such a thing to happen? Please help guide troubleshooting.

• Facebook Insights numbers don't add up

  I'm having trouble understanding the Facebook stats for a Fan page under reach as they don't seem to add up. Under the reach tab, if I expand the countries demographics at the top, then the countries listed add up to around 16k people. But scrolling down under reach, the graph reaches as high as 260k in a particular week. From what they say, it seems that both the graph and demographics are talking about unique users, so where are the other 244k unique users that are in the graph but seemingly not from any country on Earth?

Currently I use a domain name called "A" and have already added another domain name called "A+" as a secondary domain in my Google Apps account. I set my email accounts with this "A" and "A+" domain name. How do I set the domain name "A" so when my web visitor accesses it, it will automatically forward to the "A+" website? This search cannot be based on local database, as it needs live data (of available domains). The only possible way (to me) is to fetch every query from the original NIC (e.g. nic.com), but I was unable to find an API for this service. How to find a source to write a script for domain searching?

• How to clean unused app files

  I've finished working on a web app and looking back at the process, I can see that a lot of extra files have been accumulated - backup css, php files, javascripts, images. I'm using an MVC workflow (codeigniter) and I would like to clean the app from unused files. There are also libraries which I've downloaded but referenced some of the files in my code, yet I've kept the unused files too. Total mess really, I'll take a note for the next app to become more organized. There is also a fair security concern regarding these sorts of situations, plus I think that it would be better to omit all the extra files when search engines are indexing the app. Has anyone been in that situation and what is the safest/fastest way to clean the app? • Is Google Analytics safe for websites that deal with sensitive information?

  I work for a company that writes several webapps that deal with a lot of sensitive information, such as full name, date of birth, address, and SSNs. Currently we don't have anything to measure site usage, but I would like to use Google Analytics to track usage and statistics about our users. What data is sent to Google when you use Analytics? If I put this on a page that contains any of the above information, will that data be sent to Google? Or are they just getting the necessary information like user agent and IP address?

  I have a large software website and on each application we let users add comments, reviews and so on. Each of these pages are called for example "Comments About Firefox", "Firefox Reviews" and so on. If we don't have any reviews or we for some reason KNOW that the visitor from Google would be disappointed should we add "noindex" to that page? Or should we just let Google decide if they want to rank us or not?

• How to Automate Checking for Stolen Content?

  So I know about tools like Copyscape and Google Alerts.. great tools, but it's quite tedious for me to copy and paste an URL or phrase for every one of my pages in my sites. Is there any tool out there that monitors your website and emails you or alerts you whenever someone has stolen content from your site? The only service I know is CopySentry and honestly, it's too expensive for me since I got thousands of pages I want to monitor... Anyone else have this problem? or is it just me? I don't want to get into trouble with the trademark owner so my plan is to use the domain to display information (wiki-style) about the service the trademark owner provides. My question is whether I can display ads on this website to make money. For example, let's say I own Google.org (Google being a trademark).   I have a server A which is configured behind a firewall and has 30.x.x.x public adress and 172.x.x.x internal address. I'm trying to make a php Curl call from a script located on that server, to the 30.x.x.x external IP of that server but the curl call cannot be resolved. It seems that server A does not have a route to that IP. Did you encounter any similar situations? Any chance to solve it through static routes?

  I am starting an e-commerce marketplace. I am new to e-commerce, but I am taking it up as a challenge. I will have multiple vendors on my site and they will upload their products through CSV files for bulk upload. However there will be certain popular products already listed in the database, they can add those to their listing (like Amazon for 3rd party sellers). I have no idea how to assign product codes for every product, can you help me out? I'm talking about something like Amazon's ASIN number. Or may be is it possible to let vendors assign their own numbers? How does that work?

• f12 and ctrl + f5 not working correctly [migrated]

  When I came back to my work computer after being away for a week I found out when I try to clear the cache and refresh the page via ctrl + f5 (or just f5) I get the prompt "Type the Internet address of a document, and Internet Explorer will open it for you" with a drop down list in IE. When I try f5 in Chrome and FF it opens the "Open file" dialog box. When I try to f12 for Dev tools in IE, Chrome & FF it opens up the print dialog box. Why is this happening and what can I do to revert it back to the way it was?

  I may be completely misunderstanding what Azure is but is it possible for me to host a basic website on Windows Azure? I have a site that I've built in HTML and CSS that I'd like to upload to Azure but I can't figure out any way to do this. The site claims I can use it for web hosting, but if I can't FTP then I'm not sure how to do this. Is there a simple tutorial somewhere? • Google Analytics Request URI to Event advanced filter

  I have a query string attached to a Request URI. Whilst I can see this data within the pages report and it works, I was thinking about setting up an advanced filter to convert the request URI to an Event, with the hope this would clean up my pages report and sit this query with related events in my data. I can see in advanced filters that this is possible, but seems limited to specifying a single event area, so Cat, action or Label, not all 3. Does any one know how I could set up an advanced filter to find any URIs that contain a specific query string, say example below. www.example.com?querystring=123 and convert this into an event, where I can set the Cat, action and label.

• Are my Google Analytics ( 2 domains 1 site) duplicated or unique?

  We have recently built a new website with a new domain to replace an old website, and on the advice of our IT guys and web dev team have pointed both oldaddress.com's & newaddress.com's a records to the new website. Now, they both share the same google analytics code (UA-12345-1) and as such we have two entries in the Google Analytics dashboard. The problem is I'm still fairly novice with GA and as the reports seem VERY similar (~25k pageviews for each domain), are these figures exclusively for that domain? For example: oldaddress.com 25,400 pageviews newaddress.com 25,600 pageviews Does this mean that in total for this website I have 51,000 pageviews. Hope this is clear enough but let me know if anything needs clarifying. Thanks.

  I have a news website and on most posts the first paragraph is in bold. Currently the authors are just using <strong> to bold the paragraph, would it be better from an SEO point of view to rather use a paragraph class that is styled with p.bold {font-weight:bold;} <p class="bold">. Does <strong> on the first paragraph send the wrong message to search engines? The text is important but the main reason it is in bold is because it is the opening paragraph. I realise <strong> is used to emphasise certain words on a page

Basically it should be a "file forum" in the sense that users can register and be approved to post files to categories. Users with "read" privileges can then go through the categories and download files.   I'm writing a basic CMS for one of my sites and have run into an issue where some pages need to dynamically serve PHP and JS, where as others are plain HTMl. I want there to be a setting which will allow this for the pages that need it and will load ACE editor instead of a different wysiwyg editor. The challenge here is that on the pages which I do not explicitly tell it there will be code, I want to reject any inputs that code. I can set it up to insert a for all pages without JS, but how can I keep php code from running?
