    Why didn't Apple implement copy and paste prior to iPhone OS 3.0? The answers I don't think are correct (but I could certainly be wrong) are: They couldn't figure out how to do it and provide a good user experience Some crazy multi-tasking or battery limitation iPhone users didn't want or need it (this was Microsoft's argument and is totally specious) Thoughts?

  • Good SMTP server on Windows for a production server

    I'm going to have my website hosted soon on a VPS or dedicated server (with Windows 2008), so I'm trying to plan ahead. I wonder whether the built-in SMTP server that comes with IIS7 is reliable enough for a production server or should I look for an alternative? I heard good things about hmailserver and best of all it's free, do you have any experience with using the bulit-in SMTP on a high traffic website. Thanks a lot for any suggestions

I see several apps in the iPad App Store which utilize tabs, one such example is the Atomic Web Browser which provides a tabbed browsing experience (like Safari on the Mac or Firefox). Instead of reinventing this functionality, I'd like to reuse an existing component.

  • Is php fileinfo sufficient to prevent upload of malicious files?

    Hey guys, I have searched around a bit, and have not really found a professional type response to how to have secure fileupload capability so I wanted to get the opinion of some of the experts on this site. I am currently allowing upload of mp3s and images, and while I am pretty confident in preventing xss and injection attacks on my site, I am not really familiar with fileupload security. I basically just use php fileinfo and check an array of accepted filetypes against the filetype. For images, there is the getimagesize function and some additional checks. As far as storing them, I just have a folder within my directory, because I want the users to be able to use the files. If anyone could give me some tips I would really appreciate it.

We chose to use CodeIgniter for the project, and are having some problems getting everything working together. Does anyone have experience setting up such a configuration? Some of the unit testing frameworks we've tried are: PHPUnit SimpleTest Toast ...but we've had no success with any of them.

  • Visual Studio 2010 + ReSharper Not Working

    I've installed ReSharper 5 on two installations of Visual Studio 2010 Professional. In both cases, ReSharper claims it has installed successfully - but Visual Studio doesn't recognize the extension. It doesn't show up in the Extensions Manager, doesn't appear in Help - About - Installed products, and can't be found anywhere else in the environment. I've tried install / uninstall of both Visual Studio and ReSharper, computer restarts, etc. Both machines have Visual Studio 2008 and ReSharper 5 works fine in these IDEs, and both machines are running Windows 7. I've found other people online with this issue, but no solutions. Anyone know how to fix this?

    I've downloaded Direct X SDK from the microsoft website but when I try to compile my code i'm getting this error: Error 1 error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _Direct3DCreate9@4 referenced in function "void __cdecl initD3D(struct HWND__ *)" (?initD3D@@YAXPAUHWND__@@@Z) C:\Users\Josh\Desktop\Tutorial\Tutorial\Tutorial.obj Tutorial I have added Direct X to my C++ build directories like that: $(DXSDK_DIR)include $(DXSDK_DIR)Lib\x64 I've googled it and found out that most of the time people were forgetting this line: #pragma comment (lib, "d3dx9.lib") But it's there for me here are my includes and lib: #include <windows.h> #include <windowsx.h> #include <d3d9.h> #include <d3dx9.h> #pragma comment (lib, "d3d9.lib") #pragma comment (lib, "d3dx9.lib") Can anyone help me with this?     Hi, I'm working on a xml schema resolver and I'm using JAXB with XMLSchema.xsd. I experience problems with JAXB, because I don't get classes for all the top level elements. For example for <xs:element name="maxLength" id="maxLength" type="xs:numFacet"> I do not get a class MaxLength or anything like that. Only NumFacet exists.     Best practices or tools for installing a MS SQL database I have a MS SQL database designed with the MS SQL GUI database editor/Visual Studio. What is the best way to "install" that database on other systems. Said another way how should I ship this thing? I know I can save the scripts and set the primary/foreign keys with T-SQL but I suspect their is something better. I guess you could have people restore from backup but that does not seem very professional. What other choices are there and what are the pluses and minuses?

Has anyone had experience with it in a large production site? I haven't run a huge sample of markup through it yet, but so far it has seemed to do the job fine.
