  • Recommendations for a programmable drivers license scanner?

    Our motor pool wants to scan drivers’ licenses and have the data imported into our custom system. We're looking for something that will allow us to programmatically get the data from the scanner (including the picture) and let us insert it into our application. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with this type of system and could recommend one or tell us which ones to avoid. Our application is written in PowerBuilder and uses a DB2 database.

    HI Folks, I am programming a website for online-reservation-management, preferably for holiday homes. I want to implement a service, which allows the user to pass all their occupation dates to other websites. My question is, what would be the most professional way to do this? Generate a XML-stream Create a valid RSS Feed I think that a XML file has the advantages of being straight to the point, without any information that noone needs. Webmasters of other websites surely prefer the structure of a simple XML file. On the other hand, when someone without programming knowledge wants to use the RSS-Feed with a feedreader or simply with the browser, it may be user-friendlier to use a RSS-FEED. What so you think, I'm unsure...? Greetz Maenny

  • Unable to install USB drivers for android

    I'm running Win XP 64bit and am connecting a Motocliq to my computer. The device is recognized by windows and shows up in the device manager (Motorola ADB Interface), however when I try to install drivers (manually, from the usb_driver revision 3 provided by Android) it fails giving the error "The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software." Does anyone else have experience installing this drivers on XP64bit/Motocliq?

  • Doing extra initialisations on a MFC Dialog in Visual Studio C++ 2008 Pro

    How do I make extra initializations on a modal dialog before calling DoModal(); ? The whole application is created using VS wizards. I have a main Dialog (the one that is created automatically when I select new MFC Application in Visual Studio 2008 Professional). When I click a button on this dialog I want to open another dialog and set a CString value into a CEdit control. my code: ... void MainDlg::OnClickedButtonX(){ SecondDialogClass Dlg2; Dlg2.asocVar2Cedit.SetWindowTextW(L"my text"); Dlg2.DoModal(); } //asocVar2Cedit is the associeted control variable to the //CEdit control on the second Dialog (Right Click > Add Variable.. in VSC++) ... this code generates at runtime a "Debug Assertion" error in winocc... Any ideas ? Thank you in advance.

    Stack overflow I want to make a universal version of my app available, but I am wondering how is data managed between the iPad and the iPhone versions? -Are they completely independent? or if I have a plist in the iPad app, does it also appear in the iPhone app. If so, is there any syncing etc etc. I have a few months experience with single iPad or iPhone apps, but never a universal. There are tons of technical details what is behind the scene and I feel people enthusiasm with ability to customize widgets as never before. I remember those days when VCL library (Delphi) appeared and there was the same enthusiasm in VCL widgets area. Ability to create VCL controls was nearly the must when you was applying for a job as Delphi developer. This situation continued for several years till professional sophisticated 3'd party UI libraries appeared. Hardly you'll have to create your own VCL widget nowadays. Will WPF widgets enthusiasm die as VCL one?

As I'm more of a backend guy, and lacking experience in frontend development, I don't know which element would be suited best to output the text.     We are developing an ASP.NET web application where some of the features that we will need to implement are quite standard: for example, a chat between users, a forum, etc. There are ASP.NET chats and forums components available. However, they all have a predetermined GUI and html markup that is almost impossible to change and very difficult to customize. And this is a very common situation for most controls like grids, etc.: you have very low control over the html markup that is being generated by the control. In our case, our web app will have its own web design created by a professional web designer in PhotoShop, and then it will but transformed into html markup that will then be transformed in aspx pages. We would ideally like to create the html markup for the forum and chat by ourselves, and use only the non-GUI part of the ASP.NET components. Is this approach feasible? Has anyone dealt with such approach in practice?

  • Should I merge .pbxproj files with git using merge=union?

    I'm wondering whether the merge=union option in .gitattributes makes sense for .pbxproj files. The manpage states for this option: Run 3-way file level merge for text files, but take lines from both versions, instead of leaving conflict markers. This tends to leave the added lines in the resulting file in random order and the user should verify the result. Normally, this should be fine for the 90% case of adding files to the project. Does anybody have experience with this?
