• Setting to change IE behavior of remembering the passwords when opening the same url in different wi

  I have windows XP with SP3 on my system. My current IE version is 8. Now for some product testing, I want to log-in 100 users to a website one after other. My problem is IE8 remembers the passwords, so when I log-in to the website and open the same url in some other window, I am already signed in with the previous username and password. What setting do I need to change so that this doesn't happens? Or is there any other web browser that doesn't behave like this? I tried Google Chrome, Opera and Mozilla Firefox.

• Turtle Beach Headset Chat Volume Wheel on Windows

  I have this headset http://www.turtlebeach.com/product-detail/headsets-legacy/ear-force-x11/235 I am using it with a Windows 8.1 PC using digital audio out on my motherboard (no dedicated sound card). The cable has 2 volume wheels labelled "Game" and "Chat". I would like to be able to control, say Google Hangouts or Skype volume with the chat wheel, and all other audio with the other wheel. Is this possible? The closest thing I can find is "Communications Device" vs "Device" under the Sound control panel in Windows.

• Bulk Deleting All Messages in a Folder in Microsoft Outlook Web Access

  How do you delete all messages in a folder in Outlook, preferrably through Web Access? I left my Outlook account unattended for several days (on vacation) and when I got back I found several folders with over 5k emails, mostly error logging or spam. When I try to open the Outlook client, it just locks up, presumably unable to download that many emails. I can view at most 100 emails at a time, but I can't select all emails to delete or permanently delete them immediately, so manually deleting this many emails is going to take a while. Gmail has a similar feature to select and delete all emails in a folder, and that's free so I figure being a quality non-free product from Microsoft, Outlook should have a similar feature (yes that's sarcasm). I've Googled, but I'm not finding anything. Is this possible?

  I'm an IT volunteer at a local non-profit. I'm looking for a good AV/malware solution. We currently use a mishmash of different client solutions, and want to move to something centralized. There is no full time IT staff. What I'm looking for: centralized administration - server is Windows Server 2003 minimal admin overhead ability to do e-mail notification/alerts/reporting would be very cool 10-25 XP Clients (P3/P4 hardware) free or discounted solution for non-profits We can get a cheap license for Symantec Endpoint Protection. My past experience with Symantec has been bad, but I've heard good things about this product. However, I've also read that it's kind of a nightmare to setup and administer, and may not be worth it for the size of our network.

  I recently bought an HP laptop (dv7-3085dx) (http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/hp-pavilion-dv7-3085dx/4505-3121_7-33776108.html) which is supposed to have a pretty good video card (NVIDIA GeForce GT 230M). The card is supposed to output a max resolution of 2560x1600 which is also the max resolution of my monitor (http://www.ubergizmo.com/15/archives/2006/02/dell_3007wfp_on_dell_2001fp_action_8_megapixel_desktop.html). Now I bought an HDMI to dual link dvi (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002KKLYDK/ref=oss_product) cable...this is after Best Buy's 70 dollar hdmi to dvi (perhaps it was 'single' link?) didn't give me the best resolution. In windows 7, when I try to set the max resolution for my 30 in monitor, I only get 1280x800...which is absurd. The monitor is great, I love the laptop and the video card supposedly supports such resolutions. So I can't figure out why I'm not getting better resolution (by the way, when i "detect" my monitor in windows 7, it is shown correctly as DELL 3007WFP!).

• Office 365 E3 with Exchange Hosted Encryption (EHE)

  I hope this is the right forum for posting this question. I have a client who wants to move to Office 365. They are currently running on a trial of Office 365 E3 plan. My staff are now also using Office 365 E3 via the internal use licences provided as part of the MS Cloud Partner benefits. We've search high and low, spoken to about 15 different people at Office 365 Support, as well as my local distributor's MS Product Manager, but we cannot seem to find out exactly how to purchase/subscribe to the Exchange Hosted Encryption (EHE) service, or how to configure/use it from Office 365. Does anybody out there have any insight into how we can setup and use the EHE service? Thanks! Stephen

• Disable IPv6 on Loopback address (Localhost, Computer name, ...)

  We tried installing a 3rd party software product on a new Windows 2008 R2 server and found that everything works except for accessing local services through loopback addresses such as localhost or the computer name (ex: VPS-Web which resolves to localhost). We are not using IPv6 and would like to disable it until the software is compatible. I tried using these instructions for disabling IPv6 on Windows 2008 R2 but it did not disable the protocol for localhost. Pinging localhost or VPS-Web will still return ::1: instead of 127.0.0.1. I can use ping localhost -4 to get the correct address, but IPv6 takes precedent over IPv4 so the 3rd party software only gets the IPv6 address.

Example: http://internalHost Instead of http://internalHost.example.com I would like to redirect users / rewrite URLs so that everything will use the FQDN. Here's the catch: I don't want to set ServerName explicitly. (This is for a product which will be deployed in multiple intranets so we can't know the value of ServerName ahead of time). According to: http://wiki.apache.org/httpd/CouldNotDetermineServerName Apache uses a reverse lookup to determine a default FQDN. How can I make use of/reference that FQDN that Apache is using for a mod_rewrite or redirect?

• How do I re-activate Windows 7 after Windows has decided it is no longer genuine after an update?

  Windows just recently decided that it was no longer genuine and it keeps telling me that I need to re-activate. However, the dialog that pops up asking me if I want to make it genuine seems to crash or give a fatal error: 0xD000006. I've looked in Properties page for My Computer in the Windows Activation section and it simply says: Status Not Available Product ID Not Available And there is no option to activate. I'd prefer to not have to reinstall Windows 7, so any leads would be greatly appreciated. I've tried re-activating using slui.exe as suggested in the answers below, but when I do that I get the following error dialog. I'm not quite sure what to do now and the thought of being on hold with Microsoft is not terribly appealing to me. Thanks.

  While installing I get an error: Microsoft Access 2010 encountered an error during setup. Error 1406. Setup cannot write the value to the registry key \Software\Classes\Interface{000C036F-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\ProxyStubClsid. Verify that have sufficient permissions to access the registry or contact Microsoft Product Support Services (PSS) for assitance. I went to regedit to check on the key that the error was talking about but when I clicked on it it says file not found. I'm using 64bit Windows 7 Ultimate. Any ideas?

• Is there a way reinstall a fresh Adobe trial on Mac?

  I was wondering if it is easier to fool the Adobe Installer into giving a second and third etc 30 day trial of various product on Mac OS X 10.5 than it is on Windows. Is this doable? How so.   Hi, I have purchased AMD Phenom X4 955 3.2GHZ processor with supporting gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H mother board / 6GB DDR2 RAM / 500GB SATA drive for learning Vmware ESX 3.5 product. In the above configuration, I have installed windows xp 64 bit operating systems and continue to installed vmware workstation 6.5. From the VM workstation, I can able to install ESX3.5 update2, but I unable to start properly, please refer the below mention error. “Mounting root failed. Dropping into basic maintenance shell. To collect logs for VMware, connect a USB storage device and run 'bin/vm-support '. Machine will be rebooted when you exit from this shell.” The same was tested in the windows 2003 Enterprise Edition server / windows 7 32bit / windows 7 64bit also, Please help me to resolve the issue.

  What is a good tool to keep track of IT inventory? Systems that are installed and running, parts being ordered, that sort of thing. I'd love a central, web based system (preferably something we can customize) but my searching so far has resulted in a lot of dead open source projects that havn't been updated in a few years and poorly created commercial websites that don't do a very good job describing their product. The software doesn't have to be free or open source - a good commercial alternative is fine. It doesn't even need to be a web-based tool, that's just what I thought would be simplist to find and easiest to deploy. The number of assets that it will be tracking will be in the dozens, so it doesn't have to be a super high-end enterprise solution but it does need to do a better job than an excel sheet in a shared folder (which is our current "solution")

• Control which os is booted on multi-boot system

  I am setting up a server with multiple operating systems for the automatic testruns of my company's product. I'd like to be able to control with a script which OS boots up after a restart, so I could say for example "after the windows run, boot into linux". I thought of using the windows bootloader for all OSes, because it should be easy to just change the default entry in C:\boot.ini to whichever system I want to boot. Is this a feasible way of doing this? Are there better options?

• No sound through DisplayPort

  I'm trying to connect my Elitebook 8440p laptop to my Samsung HDTV. The laptop does not have a HDMI connection, but it does have DisplayPort. I bought a DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter here http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002CSRFD8/ref=oss_product, and connected it with a 3' HDMI cable. The video shows up fine, but there is no audio. DisplayPort, HDMI, and the adapter all support audio. I contacted HP tech support, who told me to update my sound drivers. I installed the driver and rebooted. Supposedly, I should see a "HD Audio" tab. No luck, even after installing the driver again and rebooting. HP closed the case. I'm using XP Pro.

  We're looking to move away from PFSense and CARP to a pair of SonicWall NSA 24001 configured in Active/Passive for High Availability. I've never dealt with SonicWall before, so is there anything I should know that their sales guy won't tell me? I'm aware that they had an issue with a lot of their devices shutting down connectivity because of a licensing fault, and they have an overtly complex management GUI (on the older devices at least), but are there any other big "gotchas" that I need to be aware of before committing a not insubstantial amount of money towards these devices? 1If you're outside the US, the SonicWall global sites suck balls. Use the US site for all your product research, and then use your local site when you're after local information.

• DNS settings for SaaS in the cloud?

  I am building a SaaS product. When a user signs up for an account they must select an alias for their site --------.getlaunchpoint.com. Right now I have an A record *.getlaunchpoint.com that points to the ip address server. However, with Azure I am not given an IP address. The suggested implementation is to make use of a CNAME. I need to create a CNAME for *.getlaunchpoint.com - getlaunchpoint.cloudapp.net GoDaddy does not support CNAME wildcards. Searching on Google I'm getting conflicting information... is CNAME wildcard a bad practice? I run into the same problem with Amazon EC2 if I want to make use of load balancers because you cannot tie a public IP address to an Amazon Load Balancer. Amazon also suggests the use of a CNAME. Any help would be appreciated.

• Fill a table from a RAND based formula in Excel 2010

  I am trying to do a Monte Carlo simulation using Excel, but a lot of the tutorials I have found are either for older versions of the product, or are not quite what I am after. A simple example of the kind of think I am after is: Cell A1 contains the formula to simulate (for example int(6*rand())+1 to simulate rolling a dice). I have 10 rows of "Trials". What I want is to somehow point each row at a different calculation of the formula in A1. So I would end up with something like Trial Value 1 2 2 5 3 6 4 2 5 1 6 3 7 2 8 4 9 2 10 1 I have tried playing with some of the "What-if Analysis" tools, but I am a bit lost.

• Re-downloading Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Standard because of license issues?

  I have many clients who have purchased Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Standard. Unlike other Microsoft software, there is not a serial number provided for each customer to install the software. Futhermore, Microsoft's TechNet website lists this information about SQL Server instead of providing a key: "This product is pre-pidded." This means that the configuration file for SQL server contains your serial number instead of manually entering it. My question is then: does this serial change for each customer? The reason I ask: I'd rather not download a 3.2GB disc image over and over again for each of my customers individually. But, I don't want to risk using the same image over and over again resulting in Microsoft banning the serial for over use (as opposed to each customer using their copy with THEIR serial number.) I've tried already to move my repeater closer to the ceiling or putting the aluminium foil underneath, but it didn't help. • MacBook Pro 13 (mid 2010 model) - External Display Low Resolution

  I am trying to connect my ASUS VH242H (1920x1020), with my Macbook Pro. The laptop has a 320m nvidia and it should be more than enough to support an external display. I had my old laptop connected, (with a 9600mgt) and it worked fine.I am not mirroring the display I just want an extension ( if possible only the external display diplaying). • Laptop Backup Software (Corporate)?

  I wondered if any of you who have a fleet of laptops are using anything to back them up, and if so what? In particular I'm looking for a solution that is totally hands-off once installed i.e. the user doesn't have to do anything, press anything, remember to change something when their domain password changes etc. Right now we use Druva Insync which I have to say is pretty damned good, however our license is up for renewal in a couple of months so I want to be sure it's the best solution before renewing - the only other vaguely comparable product that I know of is from Atempo but the cost of a SQL Server license is a big problem there. • What is the best solution for letting both Macs and PCs access digital images and videos on a networ

  I'm looking for a simple way to share digital images and videos over a network to both Macs and PCs. I'm currently looking into three options: NAS, WD MyBook Mirror drives attached to a router, or an HP WHS product like the Data Vault. I'm looking for something easy to implement that allows for drive mirroring but also has good performance for both Macs and PCS. I've read that the HP WHS devices rebalance on their own schedules, making them useless for streaming video, and hope someone can definitively confirm or deny this as it's a dealbreaker if true. • Problem with usb wireless mouse

  Recently I have started having problems with my wireless mouse (Wireless Optical Mouse MI-4910D). Sometimes when I start my PC or during a game the pointer/arrow stops moving. When the PC boots the pointer is locked in the center of the screen. If I'm lucky it helps to change the USB wireless adapter from port 1 to port 2 but sometimes this trick doesn't work and I have to restart my PC to get the mouse to work again. Like you can see in the product web page this mouse don't have a driver but only a tool to solve some problems. • WesternDigital SmartWare - still problematic?

  I've seen a lot of bad press on WD SmartWare (I think it comes on most WD backup devices now, such as their MyBook product line), mostly related to how it's impossible to remove properly or replace. There are allegations (I couldn't tell how true they were) that it has/is a rootkit, as well. Most of the articles are a couple of years old, so I'm wondering if SmartWare is still just as problematic as it was. Does it still have a nasty rootkit reputation and should I just stick with the Windows 7 built-in backup system, or is the current SmartWare generation improved and better behaved?
