  • sockaddr_in causing segfault?

    - by Curlystraw
    Working on creating a server/client system in C right now, and I'm having a little trouble with the client part. From what I've seen, I need to use sockaddr_in so I can connect to the server. However, I've been getting a segfault every time. I believe that sockaddr_in has something to do with it, as comment it and it's references later in the program fixes the segfault. code: #include <stdio.h> #include <sys/types.h> #include <sys/socket.h> #include <unistd.h> #include <netinet/in.h> int main(int argc, char** argv) { int Csock; int con; char *data = 0; char buf[101] = ""; struct sockaddr_in addr; Csock = socket(AF_INET, SOCK_STREAM, 0); addr.sin_family = AF_INET; addr.sin_port = htons(3435); con = connect(Csock, (struct sockaddr*) &addr, sizeof(&addr)); write(con, "Text", sizeof("Text")); *data = read(con, buf, 100); puts(data); return 0; } sadly, I am rather new to C, so that's as much as I can figure... can anyone tell me a way to go about eliminating the segfault? Thanks!

  • Socket send recv functions

    - by viswanathan
    I have created a socket using the following lines of code. Now i change the value of the socket i get like this m_Socket++; Even now the send recv socket functions succeeds without throwing SOCKET_ERROR. I expect that it must throw error. Am i doing something wrong. struct sockaddr_in ServerSock; // Socket address structure to bind the Port Number to listen to char *localIP ; SOCKET SocServer; //To Set up the sockaddr structure ServerSock.sin_family = AF_INET; ServerSock.sin_addr.s_addr = INADDR_ANY; ServerSock.sin_port = htons(pLantronics->m_wRIPortNo); // To Create a socket for listening on wPortNumber if(( SocServer = socket( AF_INET, SOCK_STREAM, 0 )) == INVALID_SOCKET ) { return FALSE; } //To bind the socket with wPortNumber if(bind(SocServer,(sockaddr*)&ServerSock,sizeof(ServerSock))!=0) { return FALSE; } // To Listen for the connection on wPortNumber if(listen(SocServer,SOMAXCONN)!=0) { return FALSE; } // Structure to get the IP Address of the connecting Entity sockaddr_in insock; int insocklen=sizeof(insock); //To accept the Incoming connection on the wPortNumber pLantronics->m_Socket=accept(SocServer,(struct sockaddr*)&insock,&insocklen); if(pLantronics->m_Socket == INVALID_SOCKET) { shutdown(SocServer, 2 ); closesocket(SocServer ); return FALSE; } // To make socket non-blocking DWORD dwNonBlocking = 1; if(ioctlsocket( pLantronics->m_Socket, FIONBIO, &dwNonBlocking )) { shutdown(pLantronics->m_Socket, 2); closesocket(pLantronics->m_Socket); return FALSE; } pLantronics->m_sModemName = inet_ntoa(insock.sin_addr); Now i do m_Socket++;//change to some other number ideally expecting send recv to fail. Even now the send recv socket functions succeeds without throwing SOCKET_ERROR. I expect that it must throw error. Am i doing something wrong.

  • What's the meaning of 'char (*p)[5];'?

    - by jpmelos
    people. I'm trying to grasp the differences between these three declarations: char p[5]; char *p[5]; char (*p)[5]; I'm trying to find this out by doing some tests, because every guide of reading declarations and stuff like that has not helped me so far. I wrote this little program and it's not working (I've tried other kinds of use of the third declaration and I've ran out of options): #include <stdio.h> #include <string.h> #include <stdlib.h> int main(void) { char p1[5]; char *p2[5]; char (*p3)[5]; strcpy(p1, "dead"); p2[0] = (char *) malloc(5 * sizeof(char)); strcpy(p2[0], "beef"); p3[0] = (char *) malloc(5 * sizeof(char)); strcpy(p3[0], "char"); printf("p1 = %s\np2[0] = %s\np3[0] = %s\n", p1, p2[0], p3[0]); return 0; } The first and second works alright, and I've understood what they do. What is the meaning of the third declaration and the correct way to use it? Thank you!

  • Error in value of default parameter [Bug in Visual C++ 2008?]

    - by HellBoy
    I am facing following issue while trying to use template in my code I have some C++ code which i call from C functions. Problem is I am getting different values in the following code for statement 1 and 2. Type id : unsigned int statement 1 : 4 statement 2 : 1 C++ Code : template <typename T> void func(T* value, unsigned int len = sizeof(T)) { cout << "Type id : " << typeid(T).name() << endl; cout << "statement 1 " << sizeof(T) << endl; cout << "statement 2 " << len << endl; } template <typename T> void func1(T data) { T val = data; func(&val); } C Code : void test(void *ptr, unsigned int len) { switch(len) { case 1: func1(*(static_cast<uint32_t *>(ptr)) break; } } This happens only on windows. On Linux it works fine.

    How can I write that line in c++? This is the code in delphi type TSettings = record sFileName: String[50]; siInstallFolder: Byte; bRunFile: Boolean; ... end; .. var i: dword; sZdData: PChar; Settings :Tsettings; begin .... ZeroMemory(@Settings, sizeof(Tsettings)); settings := Tsettings(Pointer(@sZdData[i])^); // this code to c++ c++ code (hope the rest is OK) struct TSettings{ char sFileName[50]; byte siInstallFolder; bool bRunFile; ... } Settings; ... • Parsing string based on initial format

    - by Kayla
    I'm trying to parse a set of lines and extract certain parts of the string based on an initial format (reading a configuration file). A little more explanation: the format can contain up to 4 parts to be formatted. This case, %S will skip the part, %a-%c will extract the part and will be treated as a string, %d as int. What I am trying to do now is to come up with some clever way to parse it. So far I came up with the following prototype. However, my pointer arithmetic still needs some work to skip/extract the parts. Ultimately each part will be stored on an array of structs. Such as: struct st_temp { char *parta; char *partb; char *partc; char *partd; }; ... #include <stdio.h> #include <string.h> #define DIM(x) (sizeof(x)/sizeof(*(x))) void process (const char *fmt, const char *line) { char c; const char *src = fmt; while ((c = *src++) != '\0') { if (c == 'S'); // skip part else if (c == 'a'); // extract %a else if (c == 'b'); // extract %b else if (c == 'c'); // extract %c else if (c == 'd'); // extract %d (int) else { printf("Unknown format\n"); exit(1); } } } static const char *input[] = { "bar 200.1 / / (zaz) - \"bon 10\"", "foo 100.1 / / (baz) - \"apt 20\"", }; int main (void) { const char *fmt = "%S %a / / (%b) - \"%c %d\""; size_t i; for(i = 0; i < DIM (input); i++) { process (fmt, input[i]); } return (0); }

  • Misaligned Pointer Performance

    - by Elite Mx
    Aren't misaligned pointers (in the BEST possible case) supposed to slow down performance and in the worst case crash your program (assuming the compiler was nice enough to compile your invalid c program). Well, the following code doesn't seem to have any performance differences between the aligned and misaligned versions. Why is that? /* brutality.c */ #ifdef BRUTALITY xs = (unsigned long *) ((unsigned char *) xs + 1); #endif ... /* main.c */ #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #define size_t_max ((size_t)-1) #define max_count(var) (size_t_max / (sizeof var)) int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { unsigned long sum, *xs, *itr, *xs_end; size_t element_count = max_count(*xs) >> 4; xs = malloc(element_count * (sizeof *xs)); if(!xs) exit(1); xs_end = xs + element_count - 1; sum = 0; for(itr = xs; itr < xs_end; itr++) *itr = 0; #include "brutality.c" itr = xs; while(itr < xs_end) sum += *itr++; printf("%lu\n", sum); /* we could free the malloc-ed memory here */ /* but we are almost done */ exit(0); } Compiled and tested on two separate machines using gcc -pedantic -Wall -O0 -std=c99 main.c for i in {0..9}; do time ./a.out; done

  • State in OpenGL

    - by newprogrammer
    This is some simple code that draws to the screen. GLuint vbo; glGenBuffers(1, &vbo); glUseProgram(myProgram); glBindBuffer(GL_ARRAY_BUFFER, vbo); glEnableVertexAttribArray(0); glVertexAttribPointer(0, 4, GL_FLOAT, GL_FALSE, 0, 0); //Fill up my VBO with vertex data glBufferData(GL_ARRAY_BUFFER, sizeof(vertexes), &vertexes, GL_STATIC_DRAW); /*Draw to the screen*/ This works fine. However, I tried changing the order of some GL calls like so: GLuint vbo; glGenBuffers(1, &vbo); glUseProgram(myProgram); glEnableVertexAttribArray(0); glVertexAttribPointer(0, 4, GL_FLOAT, GL_FALSE, 0, 0); //Now comes after the setting of the vertex attributes. glBindBuffer(GL_ARRAY_BUFFER, vbo); //Fill up my VBO with vertex data glBufferData(GL_ARRAY_BUFFER, sizeof(vertexes), &vertexes, GL_STATIC_DRAW); /*Draw to the screen*/ This crashes my program. Why does there need to be a VBO bound to GL_ARRAY_BUFFER while I'm just setting up vertex attributes? To me, what glVertexAttribPointer does is just set up the format of vertexes that OpenGL will eventually use to draw things. It is not specific to any VBO. Thus, if multiple VBOs wanted to use the same vertex format, you would not need to format the vertexes in the VBO again.

  • C socket and openssl (RSA)

    - by giozh
    there's something strange in my client/server socket using RSA. If i test it on localhost, everithing goes fine, but if i put client on a pc and server on othe pc, something gone wrong. Client after call connect, call a method for public keys exchange with server. This part of code works fine. After this, client send a request to server: strcpy(send_pack->op, "help\n"); RSA_public_encrypt(strlen(send_pack->op), send_pack->op, encrypted_send->op, rsa_server, padding); rw_value = write(server, encrypted_send, sizeof (encrypted_pack)); if (rw_value == -1) { stampa_errore(write_error); close(server); exit(1); } if (rw_value == 0) { stampa_errore(no_response); close(server); exit(1); } printf("---Help send, waiting for response\n"); set_alarm(); rw_value = read(server, encrypted_receive, sizeof (encrypted_pack)); alarm(0); if (rw_value == -1) { stampa_errore(read_error); exit(1); } if (rw_value == 0) { stampa_errore(no_response); close(server); exit(1); } RSA_private_decrypt(RSA_size(rsa), encrypted_receive->message, receive_pack->message, rsa, padding); printf("%s\n", receive_pack->message); return; } but when server try to decrypt the receive message on server side, the "help" string doesn't appear. This happen only on the net, on localhost the same code works fine... EDIT: typedef struct pack1 { unsigned char user[encrypted_size]; unsigned char password[encrypted_size]; unsigned char op[encrypted_size]; unsigned char obj[encrypted_size]; unsigned char message[encrypted_size]; int id; }encrypted_pack; encrypted_size is 512, and padding used is RSA_PKCS1_PADDING

  • Reading/Writing/Modifying a struct in C

    - by user1016401
    I am taking some information from a user (name, address, contact number) and store it in a struct. I then store this in a file which is opened in "r+" mode. I try reading it line by line and see if the entry I am trying to enter already exists, in which case I exit. Otherwise I append this entry at the end of the file. The problem is that when I open the file in "r+" mode, it gives me Segmentation fault! Here is the code: struct cust{ char *frstnam; char *lastnam; char *cntact; char *add; }; Now consider this function. I am passing a struct of information in this function. Its job is to check if this struct already exists else append it to end of file. void check(struct cust c) { struct cust cpy; FILE *f; f=fopen("Customer.txt","r+"); int num=0; if (f!= NULL){ while (!feof(f)) { num++; fread(&cpy,sizeof(struct cust),1,f); if ((cpy.frstnam==c.frstnam)&(cpy.lastnam==c.lastnam)&(cpy.cntact==c.cntact)&(cpy.add==c.add)) { printf("Hi %s %s. Nice to meet you again. You live at %s and your contact number is %s\n", cpy.frstnam,cpy.lastnam,cpy.add,cpy.cntact); return; } } fwrite(&c,sizeof(struct cust),1,f); fclose (f); } printf("number of lines read is %d\n",num); }

  • Reading a directory

    - by paleman
    Hi, I'm trying to solve exercise from K&R, it's about reading directories.This task is system dependent because it uses system calls.In the book example authors say that their example is written for Version 7 and System V UNIX systems and that they used the directory information in the header < sys/dir.h,which looks like this: #ifndef DIRSIZ #define DIRSIZ 14 #endif struct direct { /* directory entry */ ino_t d_ino; /* inode number */ char d_name[DIRSIZ]; /* long name does not have '\0' */ }; On this system they use 'struct direct' combined with 'read' function to retrieve a directory entry, which consist of file name and inode number. ..... struct direct dirbuf; /* local directory structure */ while(read(dp->fd, (char *) &dirbuf, sizeof(dirbuf) == sizeof(dirbuf) { ..... } ..... I suppose this works fine on UNIX and Linux systems, but what I want to do is modify this so it works on Windows XP. Is there some structure in Windows like 'struct direct' so I can use it with 'read' function and if there is what is the header name where it is defined? Or maybe Windows requires completely different approach?

  • Remove duplicates in a linked list before adding - C

    - by DesperateCoders
    Hi, My question is about removing duplicates from a linked list. But i want to do it before adding to linked list. struct myStr{int number; mystr *next;} void append(mystr **q,int item) { myStr *temp; temp = *q; myStr *newone; if(*q==NULL)// There should be control of previous elements. Call of keysearch function. { temp = (myStr *)malloc(sizeof(myStr)); temp->number =size; temp->next=NULL; *q=temp; } else //And also here { temp = *q; while(temp->next !=NULL) { temp=temp->next; } newone = (myStr *)malloc(sizeof(myStr)); newone->count = size; newone->next=NULL; temp->next=newone; } } int keysearch (myStr *p) { struct myStr *temp = p; int found = 0; int key= p->number; while (temp->number != NULL) { if(temp->number == key) { found = 1; } temp = temp->next; } return found; } My problem is in keySearch. I don't know what is wrong? Or is there another way for doing this.

  • Struct arrays in C

    - by ThomasTheTankEngine
    Hi I'm having trouble trying to initializing each element of the struct array. When I try and assign the value ZERO to both 'bSize' and 'msgs', it doesn't work as it errors out when i get to malloc. In the printf statement it prints a -1852803823 number. Excuse the messy code as i'm playing around trying to figure it out. struct message{ int *data; int bSize; int msgs; }; int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { ..... } void getSchedFile (FILE *file, int **schd) { struct message sMsg[nodeCount]; const int pakSize = 6; // Iniitialise message buffer for (int i=0; i<nodeCount; i++){ sMsg[i].bSize = 0; sMsg[i].msgs = 0; printf("bSize %d\n",sMsg[i].bSize); } /* Get the number of bytes */ fseek(file, 0L, SEEK_SET); int time; while((fscanf(file, "%d", &time)) != EOF){ int src; fscanf(file, "%d", &src); // get source node id // These are here for easier reading code int aPos = sMsg[src].bSize; int nMsg = sMsg[src].msgs; printf("size %d\n", sMsg[src].bSize); if (sMsg[src].bSize==0){ sMsg[src].data = malloc( pakSize * sizeof(int)); }else{ sMsg[src].data = realloc(sMsg[src].data, (aPos+pakSize)*sizeof(int)); }

  • Faulting DLL (ISAPI Filter)...

    - by Brad
    I wrote this ISAPI filter to rewrite the URL because we had some sites that moved locations... Basically the filter looks at the referrer, and if it's the local server, it looks at the requested URL and compared it to the full referrer. If the first path is identical, nothing is done, however if not, it takes the first path from the full referrer and prepends it to the URL. For example: /Content/imgs/img.jpg from a referrer of http://myserver/wr/apps/default.htm would be rewritten as /wr/Content/imgs/img.jpg. When I view the log file, everything looks good. However the DLL keeps faulting with the following information: Faulting application w3wp.exe, version 6.0.3790.3959, faulting module URLRedirector.dll, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x0002df25. Here's the code: #include <windows.h> #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <httpfilt.h> #include <time.h> #include <string.h> #ifdef _DEBUG #define TO_FILE // uncomment out to use a log file #ifdef TO_FILE #define DEST ghFile #define DebugMsg(x) WriteToFile x; HANDLE ghFile; #define LOGFILE "W:\\Temp\\URLRedirector.log" void WriteToFile (HANDLE hFile, char *szFormat, ...) { char szBuf[1024]; DWORD dwWritten; va_list list; va_start (list, szFormat); vsprintf (szBuf, szFormat, list); hFile = CreateFile (LOGFILE, GENERIC_WRITE, 0, NULL, OPEN_ALWAYS, FILE_ATTRIBUTE_NORMAL, NULL); if (hFile != INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE) { SetFilePointer (hFile, 0, NULL, FILE_END); WriteFile (hFile, szBuf, lstrlen (szBuf), &dwWritten, NULL); CloseHandle (hFile); } va_end (list); } #endif #endif BOOL WINAPI __stdcall GetFilterVersion(HTTP_FILTER_VERSION *pVer) { /* Specify the types and order of notification */ pVer->dwFlags = (SF_NOTIFY_ORDER_HIGH | SF_NOTIFY_SECURE_PORT | SF_NOTIFY_NONSECURE_PORT | SF_NOTIFY_PREPROC_HEADERS | SF_NOTIFY_END_OF_NET_SESSION); pVer->dwFilterVersion = HTTP_FILTER_REVISION; strcpy(pVer->lpszFilterDesc, "URL Redirector, Version 1.0"); return TRUE; } DWORD WINAPI __stdcall HttpFilterProc(HTTP_FILTER_CONTEXT *pfc, DWORD NotificationType, VOID *pvData) { CHAR *pPhysPath; PHTTP_FILTER_URL_MAP pURLMap; PHTTP_FILTER_PREPROC_HEADERS pHeaderInfo; CHAR szReferrer[255], szServer[255], szURL[255], szNewURL[255]; DWORD dwRSize = sizeof(szReferrer); DWORD dwSSize = sizeof(szServer); DWORD dwUSize = sizeof(szURL); int iTmp, iTmp2; CHAR *pos, tmp[255], *tmp2; switch (NotificationType) { case SF_NOTIFY_PREPROC_HEADERS : pHeaderInfo = (PHTTP_FILTER_PREPROC_HEADERS)pvData; if (pfc->GetServerVariable(pfc, "HTTP_REFERER", szReferrer, &dwRSize)) { DebugMsg(( DEST, "Referrer: %s\r\n", szReferrer )); if (pfc->GetServerVariable(pfc, "SERVER_NAME", szServer, &dwSSize)) DebugMsg(( DEST, "Server Name: %s\r\n", szServer )); if (pHeaderInfo->GetHeader(pfc, "URL", szURL, &dwUSize)) DebugMsg(( DEST, "URL: %s\r\n", szURL )); iTmp = strnstr(szReferrer, szServer, strlen(szReferrer)); if(iTmp > 0) { //Referred is our own server... strcpy(tmp, szReferrer + iTmp); DebugMsg(( DEST, "tmp: %s - %d\r\n", tmp, strlen(tmp) )); pos = strchr(tmp+1, '/'); DebugMsg(( DEST, "pos: %s - %d\r\n", pos, strlen(pos) )); iTmp2 = strlen(tmp) - strlen(pos) + 1; strncpy(tmp2, tmp, iTmp2); tmp2[iTmp2] = '\0'; DebugMsg(( DEST, "tmp2: %s\r\n", tmp2)); if(strncmp(szURL, tmp2, iTmp2) != 0) { //First paths don't match, create new URL... strncpy(szNewURL, tmp2, iTmp2-1); strcat(szNewURL, szURL); DebugMsg(( DEST, "newURL: %s\r\n", szNewURL)); pHeaderInfo->SetHeader(pfc, "URL", szNewURL); return SF_STATUS_REQ_HANDLED_NOTIFICATION; } } } break; default : break; } return SF_STATUS_REQ_NEXT_NOTIFICATION; } /* simple function to compare two strings and return the position at which the compare ended */ static int strnstr ( const char *string, const char *strCharSet, int n) { int len = (strCharSet != NULL ) ? • Windows 2008 RenderFarm Service: CreateProcessAsUser "Session 0 Isolation" and OpenGL

    - by holtavolt
    Hello, I have a legacy Windows server service and (spawned) application that works fine in XP-64 and W2K3, but fails on W2K8. I believe it is because of the new "Session 0 isolation " feature. (Note: As a StackOverflow newbie I'm being limited to one link in this post, so you'll need to scroll to bottom to lookup the links for '' items)* Consequently, I'm looking for code samples/security settings mojo that let you create a new process from a windows service for Windows 2008 Server such that I can restore (and possibly surpass) the previous behavior. I need a solution that: Creates the new process in a non-zero session to get around session-0 isolation restrictions (no access to graphics hardware from session 0) - the official MS line on this is: Because Session 0 is no longer a user session, services that are running in Session 0 do not have access to the video driver. This means that any attempt that a service makes to render graphics fails. Querying the display resolution and color depth in Session 0 reports the correct results for the system up to a maximum of 1920x1200 at 32 bits per pixel. The new process gets a windows station/desktop (e.g. winsta0/default) that can be used to create windows DCs. I've found a solution (that launches OK in an interactive session) for this here: *(Starting an Interactive Client Process in C++ - 2) The windows DC, when used as the basis for an *(OpenGL DescribePixelFormat enumeration - 3), is able to find and use the hardware-accelerated format (on a system appropriately equipped with OpenGL hardware.) Note that our current solution works OK on XP-64 and W2K3, except if a terminal services session is running (VNC works fine.) A solution that also allowed the process to work (i.e. run with OpenGL hardware acceleration even when a terminal services session is open) would be fanastic, although not required. I'm stuck at item #1 currently, and although there are some similar postings that discuss this (like *(this -4), and *(this - 5) - they are not suitable solutions, as there is no guarantee of a user session logged in already to "take" a session id from, nor am I running from a LocalSystem account (I'm running from a domain account for the service, for which I can adjust the privileges of, within reason, although I'd prefer to not have to escalate priorities to include SeTcbPrivileges.) For instance - here's a stub that I think should work, but always returns an error 1314 on the SetTokenInformation call (even though the AdjustTokenPrivileges returned no errors) I've used some alternate strategies involving "LogonUser" as well (instead of opening the existing process token), but I can't seem to swap out the session id. I'm also dubious about using the WTSActiveConsoleSessionId in all cases (for instance, if no interactive user is logged in) - although a quick test of the service running with no sessions logged in seemed to return a reasonable session value (1). I’ve removed error handling for ease of reading (still a bit messy - apologies) //Also tried using LogonUser(..) here OpenProcessToken(GetCurrentProcess(), TOKEN_QUERY | TOKEN_ADJUST_PRIVILEGES | TOKEN_ADJUST_SESSIONID | TOKEN_ADJUST_DEFAULT | TOKEN_ASSIGN_PRIMARY | TOKEN_DUPLICATE, &hToken) GetTokenInformation( hToken, TokenSessionId, &logonSessionId, sizeof(DWORD), &dwTokenLength ) DWORD consoleSessionId = WTSGetActiveConsoleSessionId(); /* Can't use this - requires very elevated privileges (LOCAL only, SeTcbPrivileges as well) if( !WTSQueryUserToken(consoleSessionId, &hToken)) ... */ DuplicateTokenEx(hToken, (TOKEN_QUERY | TOKEN_ADJUST_PRIVILEGES | TOKEN_ADJUST_SESSIONID | TOKEN_ADJUST_DEFAULT | TOKEN_ASSIGN_PRIMARY | TOKEN_DUPLICATE), NULL, SecurityIdentification, TokenPrimary, &hDupToken)) // Look up the LUID for the TCB Name privilege. LookupPrivilegeValue(NULL, SE_TCB_NAME, &tp.Privileges[0].Luid)) // Enable the TCB Name privilege in the token. tp.PrivilegeCount = 1; tp.Privileges[0].Attributes = SE_PRIVILEGE_ENABLED; if (!AdjustTokenPrivileges(hDupToken, FALSE, &tp, sizeof(TOKEN_PRIVILEGES), NULL, 0)) { DisplayError("AdjustTokenPrivileges"); ... } if (GetLastError() == ERROR_NOT_ALL_ASSIGNED) { DEBUG( "Token does not have the necessary privilege.\n"); } else { DEBUG( "No error reported from AdjustTokenPrivileges!\n"); } // Never errors here DEBUG(LM_INFO, "Attempting setting of sessionId to: %d\n", consoleSessionId ); if (!SetTokenInformation(hDupToken, TokenSessionId, &consoleSessionId, sizeof(DWORD))) *** ALWAYS FAILS WITH 1314 HERE *** All the debug output looks fine up until the SetTokenInformation call - I see session 0 is my current process session, and in my case, it's trying to set session 1 (the result of the WTSGetActiveConsoleSessionId). (Note that I'm logged into the W2K8 box via VNC, not RDC) So - a the questions: Is this approach valid, or are all service-initiated processes restricted to session 0 intentionally? Is there a better approach (short of "Launch on logon" and auto-logon for the servers?) Is there something wrong with this code, or a different way to create a process token where I can swap out the session id to indicate I want to spawn the process in a new session? I did try using LogonUser instead of OpenProcessToken, but that didn't work either. (I don't care if all spawned processes share the same non-zero session or not at this point.) Any help much appreciated - thanks! • DirectX 10 Primitive is not displayed

    I am trying to write my first DirectX 10 program that displays a triangle. Everything compiles fine, and the render function is called, since the background changes to black. However, the triangle I'm trying to draw with a triangle strip primitive is not displayed at all. The Initialization function: bool InitDirect3D(HWND hWnd, int width, int height) { //****** D3DDevice and SwapChain *****// DXGI_SWAP_CHAIN_DESC swapChainDesc; ZeroMemory(&swapChainDesc, sizeof(swapChainDesc)); • Hi i have a c programming doubt in the implementation of hash table?

    - by aks
    Hi i have a c programming doubt in the implementation of hash table? I have implemented the hash table for storing some strings? I am having problem while dealing with hash collisons. I am following chaining link-list approach to overcome the same? But, somehow my code is behaving differently. I am not able to debug the same? Can somebody help? This is what i am facing: Say first time, i insert a string called gaur. My hash map calculates the index as 0 and inserts the string successfully. However, when another string whose hash map also when calculates turns out to be 0, my previous value gets overrridden i.e. gaur will be replaced by new string. This is my code: struct list { char *string; struct list *next; }; struct hash_table { int size; /* the size of the table */ struct list **table; /* the table elements */ }; struct hash_table *create_hash_table(int size) { struct hash_table *new_table; int i; if (size<1) return NULL; /* invalid size for table */ /* Attempt to allocate memory for the table structure */ if ((new_table = malloc(sizeof(struct hash_table))) == NULL) { return NULL; } /* Attempt to allocate memory for the table itself */ if ((new_table->table = malloc(sizeof(struct list *) * size)) == NULL) { return NULL; } /* Initialize the elements of the table */ for(i=0; i<size; i++) new_table->table[i] = '\0'; /* Set the table's size */ new_table->size = size; return new_table; } unsigned int hash(struct hash_table *hashtable, char *str) { unsigned int hashval = 0; int i = 0; for(; *str != '\0'; str++) { hashval += str[i]; i++; } return (hashval % hashtable->size); } struct list *lookup_string(struct hash_table *hashtable, char *str) { printf("\n enters in lookup_string \n"); struct list * new_list; unsigned int hashval = hash(hashtable, str); /* Go to the correct list based on the hash value and see if str is * in the list. If it is, return return a pointer to the list element. * If it isn't, the item isn't in the table, so return NULL. */ for(new_list = hashtable->table[hashval]; new_list != NULL;new_list = new_list->next) { if (strcmp(str, new_list->string) == 0) return new_list; } printf("\n returns NULL in lookup_string \n"); return NULL; } int add_string(struct hash_table *hashtable, char *str) { printf("\n enters in add_string \n"); struct list *new_list; struct list *current_list; unsigned int hashval = hash(hashtable, str); printf("\n hashval = %d", hashval); /* Attempt to allocate memory for list */ if ((new_list = malloc(sizeof(struct list))) == NULL) { printf("\n enters here \n"); return 1; } /* Does item already exist? */ current_list = lookup_string(hashtable, str); if (current_list == NULL) { printf("\n DEBUG Purpose \n"); printf("\n NULL \n"); } /* item already exists, don't insert it again. */ if (current_list != NULL) { printf("\n Item already present...\n"); return 2; } /* Insert into list */ printf("\n Inserting...\n"); new_list->string = strdup(str); new_list->next = NULL; //new_list->next = hashtable->table[hashval]; if(hashtable->table[hashval] == NULL) { hashtable->table[hashval] = new_list; } else { struct list * temp_list = hashtable->table[hashval]; while(temp_list->next!=NULL) temp_list = temp_list->next; temp_list->next = new_list; hashtable->table[hashval] = new_list; } return 0; }

  • Detect when mouse leaves my app

    - by user593747
    Hello I am creating an app in win32 that will display the x, y position(In screen coords) of the mouse whereever the mouse is (inside my app client/NC area & outside). I am at the stage where I want to detect when the mouse leaves my application completely. I have written a simple win32 app that should detect & notify myself when the mouse leaves my app, BUT its not working, I never receive the messages WM_MOUSELEAVE & WM_NCMOUSELEAVE. • Transferring data from 2d Dynamic array in C to CUDA and back

    - by Soumya
    I have a dynamically declared 2D array in my C program, the contents of which I want to transfer to a CUDA kernel for further processing. Once processed, I want to populate the dynamically declared 2D array in my C code with the CUDA processed data. I am able to do this with static 2D C arrays but not with dynamically declared C arrays. Any inputs would be welcome! I mean the dynamic array of dynamic arrays. • OpenSSL in C++ email client - server closes connection with TLSv1 Alert message

    - by mice
    My app connects to a IMAP email server. One client configured his server to reject SSLv2 certificates, and now my app fails to connect to the server. All other email clients connect to this server successfully. My app uses openssl. I debugged by creating minimal openssl client and attempt to connect to the server. Below is the code with connects to the mail server (using Windows sockets, but same problem is with unix sockets). Server sends its initial IMAP greeting message, but after client sends 1st command, server closes connection. In Wireshark, I see that after sending command to server, it returns TLSv1 error message 21 (Encrypted Alert) and connection is gone. • Espeak SAPI/dll usage on Windows ?

    - by Quandary
    Question: I am trying to use the espeak text-to-speech engine. So for I got it working wounderfully on linux (code below). Now I wanted to port this basic program to windows, too, but it's nearly impossible... Part of the problem is that the windows dll only allows for AUDIO_OUTPUT_SYNCHRONOUS, which means it requires a callback, but I can't figure out how to play the audio from the callback... First it crashed, then I realized, I need a callback function, now I get the data in the callback function, but I don't know how to play it... as it is neither a wav file nor plays automatically as on Linux. The sourceforge site is rather useless, because it basically says use the SAPI version, but then there is no example on how to use the sapi espeak dll... Anyway, here's my code, can anybody help? #ifdef __cplusplus #include <cstdio> #include <cstdlib> #include <cstring> else #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <string.h> endif include include //#include "speak_lib.h" include "espeak/speak_lib.h" // libespeak-dev: /usr/include/espeak/speak_lib.h // apt-get install libespeak-dev // apt-get install libportaudio-dev // g++ -o mine mine.cpp -lespeak // g++ -o mine mine.cpp -I/usr/include/espeak/ -lespeak // gcc -o mine mine.cpp -I/usr/include/espeak/ -lespeak char voicename[40]; int samplerate; int quiet = 0; static char genders[4] = {' ','M','F',' '}; //const char *data_path = "/usr/share/"; // /usr/share/espeak-data/ const char *data_path = NULL; // use default path for espeak-data int strrcmp(const char *s, const char *sub) { int slen = strlen(s); int sublen = strlen(sub); return memcmp(s + slen - sublen, sub, sublen); } char * strrcpy(char *dest, const char *source) { // Pre assertions assert(dest != NULL); assert(source != NULL); assert(dest != source); // tk: parentheses while((*dest++ = *source++)) ; return(--dest); } const char* GetLanguageVoiceName(const char* pszShortSign) { #define LANGUAGE_LENGTH 30 static char szReturnValue[LANGUAGE_LENGTH] ; memset(szReturnValue, 0, LANGUAGE_LENGTH); for (int i = 0; pszShortSign[i] != '\0'; ++i) szReturnValue[i] = (char) tolower(pszShortSign[i]); const espeak_VOICE **voices; espeak_VOICE voice_select; voices = espeak_ListVoices(NULL); const espeak_VOICE *v; for(int ix=0; (v = voices[ix]) != NULL; ix++) { if( !strrcmp( v->languages, szReturnValue) ) { strcpy(szReturnValue, v->name); return szReturnValue; } } // End for strcpy(szReturnValue, "default"); return szReturnValue; } // End function getvoicename void ListVoices() { const espeak_VOICE **voices; espeak_VOICE voice_select; voices = espeak_ListVoices(NULL); const espeak_VOICE *v; for(int ix=0; (v = voices[ix]) != NULL; ix++) { printf("Shortsign: %s\n", v->languages); printf("age: %d\n", v->age); printf("gender: %c\n", genders[v->gender]); printf("name: %s\n", v->name); printf("\n\n"); } // End for } // End function getvoicename int main() { printf("Hello World!\n"); const char* szVersionInfo = espeak_Info(NULL); printf("Espeak version: %s\n", szVersionInfo); samplerate = espeak_Initialize(AUDIO_OUTPUT_PLAYBACK,0,data_path,0); strcpy(voicename, "default"); // espeak --voices strcpy(voicename, "german"); strcpy(voicename, GetLanguageVoiceName("DE")); if(espeak_SetVoiceByName(voicename) != EE_OK) { printf("Espeak setvoice error...\n"); } static char word[200] = "Hello World" ; strcpy(word, "TV-fäns aufgepasst, es ist 20 Uhr 15.   • Choosing a VS project type (C++)

    - by typoknig
    Hi all, I do not use C++ much (I try to stick to the easier stuff like Java and VB.NET), but the lately I have not had a choice. When I am picking a project type in VS for some C++ source I download, what project type should I pick? I had just been sticking with Win32 Console Applications, but I just downloaded some code (below) that will not work right even when it compiles with out errors. I have tried to use a CLR Console Application and an empty project too, and have changed many variables along the way, but I cannot get this code to work. I noticed that this code does not have "int main()" at its beginning, does that have something to do with it? Anyways, here is the code, got it from here: /* Demo of modified Lucas-Kanade optical flow algorithm. See the printf below */ #ifdef _CH_ #pragma package <opencv> #endif #ifndef _EiC #include "cv.h" #include "highgui.h" #include <stdio.h> #include <ctype.h> #endif #include <windows.h> #define FULL_IMAGE_AS_OUTPUT_FILE #define cvMirror cvFlip //IplImage *image = 0, *grey = 0, *prev_grey = 0, *pyramid = 0, *prev_pyramid = 0, *swap_temp;
