• Foremost custom file type not accepted by -t argument

  I'm trying to recover a deleted file on an ext3 file system using the foremost utility. The file I want to recover is a hpp C++ source code file. However, foremost does not automatically support the hpp file extension, so I have to add it to the config file. So, following the instructions on the man page, I add the following line to the config file: hpp n 50000 include include ASCII Then I run foremost as follows: $foremost -v -T -t hpp -i /dev/md0 -o /home/recover/ Instead of doing anything, it just displays the help message. If I change the hpp to htm or jpg, it works. So apparently foremost isn't accepting the custom file type I added into the config file. But I've looked over this dozens of times now, and I can't see what I'm doing wrong. I'm following the instructions exactly. Why doesn't foremost recognize the new file type I added to the config file?

• Resizing a System Partition Windows Server 2003 VM (Getting GParted Error)

  I am getting an error while trying to resize System Partition for Windows 2003 Server (this is a VM on a Hyper-v Windows Server 2008) using GParted Live CD ISO. Followed this tutorial: http://malaysiavm.com/blog/how-to-resize-windows-2003-server-virtual-disk-on-vmware-esx/ and GParted Doc http://gparted.sourceforge.net/larry/resize/resizing.htm (They are very similar) The VM has a Dynamic VHD file, I have already increased it using Hyper-v. • team foundation server 2010 installation from DVD - I get agent installation instead!

  GRRRRRRRRRRRR!(#Y%)@#!! They bragged they now have a very easy installation! I don't get it. I entered the MSDN "Disk 5000: Developer Tools" DVD, opened default.htm, clicked on the "Visual Studio Team Foundation Server 2010" link. The VSTFS2010 folder open. I click autorun.exe. And then I get "Microsoft Visual Studio Agents 2010 Setup". I don't get it. Why "agents"? I wanted to instal a server!

• command line find/replace help

  I've got a set of 5000+ files that I need to do a simple search and replace in. I have been doing it in a text editor (EditPlus) by opening 500 files at a time, doing a global search/replace, saving all, closing, etc. But, that's taking literally hours to do and it's boring and tedious and I already have done it once today and need to do it again because all the files got refreshed. Is there a way to do this via the Bash command line? Here's the details: Find onchange="document.location ='/products/view.html/view/'+this.value" Replace it with onchange="alert('Not implemented')" style="display: none" All of the files have a .HTM extension, but they are nested in several sub directories.

• Force ntpd to make changes in smaller steps

  The NTP documentation says: Under ordinariy conditions, ntpd adjusts the clock in small steps so that the timescale is effectively continuous and without discontinuities - http://doc.ntp.org/4.1.0/ntpd.htm However, this is not at all what I have noticed in practice. If I manually change the system time backwards or forwards 5 or 10 seconds then start ntpd, I notice that it adjusts the clock in one shot.   Hi there. I'm looking for a way to consume an XML feed from a web-service directly into PowerPoint 2010. I found the LiveWeb plugin (http://skp.mvps.org/liveweb.htm) for PowerPoint that, while pretty cool, really only pulls in actual web content in a way that feels more like an iframe. Ideally, I would like to consume raw XML web service/feed with PowerPoint, parse it, and stylize the results. Is this possible? Even reading from a static XML file would be a good start.

It looks like the nginx stops the processing of the regex rules after the first match. Is there any way to combine this rules with something like regex?

  from past few day I notice a new connection is being made from my system, I discovered it within the outpost firewall, it is blocked by default with the reason Block Transit Packets in the image above you can see that the process vsserv.exe is attempting a connection to static.88-198-155-41.clients.your-server.de I tried to search on google but could not find any relevant info, however this link http://www.webmasterworld.com/search_engine_spiders/3963600.htm says that your-server.de hosts bad bots. I am bit concerned if something is not correct. Could you help me understand the same?

When I put the same index file inside the Web Site Default physical path, it works. I configured the new web site with the link above using the IP configuration and without a Host Header.' • Why does IIS refuse to serve ASP.NET content?

  My Windows Server 2003 Std server refuses to server ASP.NET content. It serves regular html just fine but anything .net, even a one line html file with an ASPX extention fails silently. Things I've tried: Nothing in the event log or IIS WWW logs when it fails. Fiddler shows no response I reinstalled .NET with C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727aspnet_regiis.exe -U C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727aspnet_regiis.exe -I I give obscenely high permissions on everything I can think of (full control, read, write, etc.) to all possibly relevant users (IUSER*, ASP.NET, etc.). I confirmed that ASP.Net v1 and v2 Web Service Extensions are "allowed" in IIS Confirmed that the Server Manager had IIS and ASP.Net roles enabled Again: this is the scenario: http://localhost/Test/Default.htm <-- Works great! http://localhost/Test/Default.aspx <-- Bombs silently with no message at all Any guidance will be much appreciated! Solution: I reinstalled per the instructions below and it works now. Thanks all!

  Hello, I would like to redirect index.php, as well as any other valid default file (e.g. index.html, index.asp, etc.) to the document root (which contains index.php) with something like this: RewriteRule ^index\.(php|htm|html|asp|cfm|shtml|shtm)/?$ / [NC,L] However, this is of course giving me an infinite redirect loop. What's the right way to do this? If possible, I'd like to have this work in both the development and production environment, so I don't want to specify an explicit url like http://www.mysite.com/ as the target. Thanks!

  Hello all, I am inheriting a Dell Dimension 8200, but it needs RAM to get up and running. I have PC3200 sticks lying around, but I am not sure how to go about figuring out if the RAM is compatible, as RAM has always confused me. Here is the Dell Dimension 8200 Tech Specs: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim8200/specs.htm For RAM, it says: Memory type PC800 (non-ECC) I don't know if that is just the kind that comes with it, and I can put in PC3200 (I think, if it worked, this would run at the lower rating?   I'm running Apache on a Windows machine for local testing and I'm new to it. Currently, if I navigate to localhost/ in a web browser, it will display an index.html page if one exists. Otherwise, it will display the directory listing. How can I make it so that navigating to a root directory will display more than index.html? What I need is so that if either: index.html, index.htm, or index.php exist, it will navigate to one of those. How can I disable showing directory roots? I would like it to return a 403 Forbidden error if no index page exists.

• How to sync (or at least view) public / team / shared calendar to Blackberry using BES?

  Trying to allow 3 people to view and ideally sync (create/edit) common (team) calendar events via Blackberry and hosted Exchange 2007 BES. My understanding is that BES does not support anything other than a users primary calendar to be synced wirelessly. From what I've researched the only supported workflow is for user to create event in public calendar on Outlook and then invites team members individually as optional attendees so event displays in their calendar (and on their Blackberry). I've seen some 3rd party utilities that claim to support syncing of public folders/calendars: Add2Outlook: http://www.diditbetter.com/add2outlook.aspx WICKSoft: http://www.wicksoft.com/contacts_calendars.htm (needs to be installed on local Exchange server) I've also been told I can sync public/other calendars using Desktop Manager, but I need to avoid any tethered sync with this environment. Am I missing an easier workflow here? There must be tens of thousands of BES users that require the ability to/view share a public, shared or team calendar on their Blackberry. How can I solve this?

• Enable (or work around) Administrative shares in Windows 8

  So in using Windows 8, I've discovered that the administrative shares are disabled. There seems to be no easy way to get them re-enabled. Is anyone aware of a work around, or solution? I did not have this issue with Windows 7 After disabling UAC. However in Windows 8 this still doesn't work. • Intel Network Connection: This device cannot start. (Code 10)

  I have a Intel® Desktop Board DP55KG (see http://www.intel.com/products/desktop/motherboards/DP55KG/DP55KG-overview.htm), which has a Intel 82578DC Gigabit Network Connection on board. Additionally, I have a Intel PRO/1000 PT Dual Port Server Adapter in a PCI express slot and I am running Windows 7 Professional 32-bit. Also I am running with Intels latest network driver, in the 82578DC questions this means 11.6.92.0 with driver date 2010.04.12. The problem I am having is that the Intel 82578DC Gigabit Network Connection will not start on boot with the following message: "This device cannot start. (Code 10)". Disabling and then enabling the device after boot makes the network connection work again without any problems, but as soon as I reboot the problem occurs again. Any suggestion how to fix this? I have seen this problem on another Intel S3420GP board as well in Windows 7 that is.

  I want to be able to access a given url, example.com/str. The problem is that the php file that I want to connect to is in a directory of /str/public/. In my nginx logs, I see that it is trying to connect to /str/public/str/index.php. Is there any way to remove that last 'str' in the document request? • Has anyone found a (eg bash) shell terminal for Windows as good as the OS X one?

  I am mostly using 'git-bash' which came with the Windows install of Git vcs. I think it is the same one that comes with Cygwin. It works fine technically but the UI sucks: have to right-click the title bar and go to Properties to change the window width most annoyingly... copy and paste and highlight with the mouse are equally cumbersome In contrast, the Terminal app that comes with OS X manages these with aplomb and makes it so much more comfortable to work with. You can even drag and drop a file on it and it will paste the file path in at your cursor! I have also tried: http://sourceforge.net/projects/win-bash http://www.steve.org.uk/Software/bash/ http://www.hamiltonlabs.com/cshell.htm None of these do copy and paste of text without cumbersome right-clicking. I am specifically looking for a Unix-flavoured shell in Windows so I don't have to use different shells between my home dev (Windows), the live server (Linux) or dev at the office (Mac). Yes I have Googled and haven't found one yet...

• Asus F5N laptop built-in card reader driver problem

  I have an Asus F5N X50N-AP011C. I have manually installed Windows 7 x64 on it, replacing the original Windows Vista. It also automatically installed a card reader driver, but it can no longer read xD cards. The driver shows in the device manager as "Generic- xD/SDMMC/MS/Pro USB device" (under "drives" - and a drive is also shown in Windows Explorer). The same card reader once used to work with xD cards. I also tried to manually install drivers from this website: http://www.station-drivers.com/page/realtek.htm - the RTS 5158 but it didn't work (it shows as USB device in device manager, but not as a drive in Windows Explorer). Does anyone know what card reader my model has built-in? (I think it's the 5158 but I don't know how to verify that - there's also no hint in the System Information tool, only the driver name is listed under "drives") how it is connected internally? if there is a better Windows 7 x64 driver?

• postMessage to PDF in an iFrame

  Here's my situation. I had a webpage with an embedded PDF form. We used a basic object tag (embed in FF) to load the PDF file like this: <object id="pdfForm" height="100%" width="100%" type="application/pdf" data="..url"></object> On this webpage was an Html Save button that would trigger some Javascript which used the postMessage API of the embedded object to execute javascript embedded in the PDF. Basically, that code looked like this: function save() { sendMessage(["submitForm"]); } function sendMessage(aMessage) { pdfObject = document.getElementById("pdfForm"); if (typeof(pdfObject) == "undefined") return; if (typeof (pdfObject.postMessage) == "undefined") return; pdfObject.postMessage(aMessage); } This all was working beautifully. Except we ran into an issue with Firefox so that we need to embed the PDF using iFrame, instead of the object tag. So now, the PDF is embeded using this code: <iframe id="pdfWrapper" src="..someUrl" width="100%" height="800px" frameborder="0"></iframe> Unfortunately, with this code, the javascript for posting a message no longer works, and I can't really figure out how to get access to the pdf object anymore so that I can access the postMessage api. Using fiddler or the chome javascript debugger, it is clear that within the iframe, the browser is automatically generating an embed tag (not an object tag), but that does not let me access the postMessage API. • VS2010 Assembly Load Error

  I am getting the following error when I try to build an ASP.NET 4 project in Visual Studio 2010: "Could not load file or assembly 'file:///C:\Dev\project\trunk\bin\Elmah.dll' or one of its dependencies. Operation is not supported. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131515)". I have verified that the dll does, in fact, exist, and is getting copied to the bin folder correctly. I have also tried removing and then re-adding the reference to the project. The build only fails when I switch the Solution Configuration to "Release". It does not fail when the Solution Configuration is set to "Debug".
