• Rails & combo box change event: Help make this obtrusive javascript unobtrusive

  Ok so a friend of mine gave some help with a prototype/obtrusive solution to this but its not quite there. Also, I want to make this unobtrusive instead of using the observe_field function that rails gives me. I don't want to use prototype either because I'm more familiar with JQuery. Here's my problem: I have an Event that can have multiple ServiceTypes and a ServiceType can belong to many Events. A many-to-many relationship between these two exists as an OfferedService. When creating an event, I have a drop down with a list of TimeAllotments that are something like 10 minutes, 12 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes etc. When the user selects one of these choices, I want a div tag to be filled with a list of ServiceTypes that are associated with this TimeAllotment. So for example, the user selects "10 minutes" and then the div repopulates with services that last 10 minutes. I want them to change based on what is selected in the combobox event_service_time_allotment. Can someone help me get pointed in the right direction? I have looked at Ryan's rails casts for using JQuery but its not helpful because he deals with ajax calls for the create action. This would be for the new or edit action. I have a new.js.erb but it doesn't get loaded when calling the new action. I'm super lost as far as getting JQuery to work with my application. I think that if someone can just show me how to make an alert pop up when I change the combo box, and how to return a dataset using ajax the right now, I think I can figure out the rest.   Trying to organize all my code into classes, and I can't get the database queries to work inside a class. I tested it without the class wrapper, and it worked fine. Inside the class = no dice.   Hi, I'm trying to convert a FreeType2 bitmap to a System::Drawing::Bitmap in C++/CLI. FT_Bitmap has a unsigned char* buffer that contains the data to write. I have got somewhat working save it disk as a *.tga, but when saving as *.bmp it renders incorrectly. I believe that the size of byte[] is incorrect and that my data is truncated. Any hints/tips/ideas on what is going on here would be greatly appreciated. Links to articles explaining byte layout and pixel formats etc. would be helpful. Thanks!! C++/CLI code. • IErrorHandler doesn't seem to be handling my errors in WCF .. any ideas?

  Have been readign around on IErrorHandler and want to go the config route. so, I have read the following in an attempt to implement it. MSDN Keyvan Nayyeri blog about the type defintion Rory Primrose Blog I have got it to compile and from the various errors i have fixed it seems like WCF is actually loading the error handler. My problem is that the exception that i am throwing to handle in the error handler doesn;t get the exception passed to it. My service implementation simply calls a method on another class that throws ArgumentOutOfRangeException - however this exception never gets handled by the handler. • c#: exporting swf object as image to Word

  Hello in my Asp.net web page (C# on backend) I use a Repeater, whose items consist of a title and a Flex chart (embedded .swf file). I am trying to export the contents of the Repeater to a Word document. My problem is to convert the SWF files into images and pass it on to the Word document. The swf object has a public function which returns a byteArray representation of itself (public function grabScreen():ByteArray), but I do not know how to call it directly from c#. I have access to the mxml files, so I can make modifications to the swf files, if needed. • Tomcat/Hibernate Problem "SEVERE: Error listenerStart"

  I downloaded working example of hibernate (with maven) and installed it on my tomcat, it worked. Then I created a new web project in MyEclipse, added hibernate support and moved all source files (no jar) to this new project and fixed package/paths wherever was necessary. My servlets are responding correctly but when I add "Listener" in web.xml, tomcat returns error "Error ListenerStart" on startup and my application doesn't start. I've carefully checked all packages, paths and classes, they look good. When file is in Unix format, I am converting it to Dos format in the initialization stage using System.Diagnostics.Process (.WaitForExit()). • Why do jQuery fadeIn() and fadeOut() seem quirky in this example?

  I've been playing with jQuery in an ASP.NET project and am finding some odd behavior with the .fadeIn() and fadeOut() functions. In the below example, a click on the button (ID Button1) is supposed to cause both the span of text with ID Label1 and the the button with the ID TextBox1 to do the following things: Fade Out Change the text of both the text box and the span of text to be You clicked the button Fade In Based on the browser I'm using, I get 3 different scenarios, and each element functions differently in each situation. Here's what happens when I actually click the button: TextBox1: In IE8, the text box fades out, changes text, then fades back in In IE8 Compatibility View, the text box fades out, changes text, then fades back in. However, the text in the box looks a little different than before the button was clicked. In FireFox 3.5.8, the text box doesn't fade out (but it does "pause" for the amount of time the fade would take), does change the text, then seems to "pause" again where it would be fading in. Label1: In IE8, the label doesn't fade out (but it does "pause" for the amount of time the fade would take), does change the text, then seems to "pause" again where it would be fading in. • How to structure a Kohana MVC application with dynamically added fields and provide validation and f

  I've got a bit of a problem. I have a Kohana application that has dynamically added fields. The fields that are added are called DISA numbers. In the model I look these up and the result is returned as an array. I encode the array into a JSON string and use JQuery to populate them The View knows the length of the array and so creates as many DISA elements as required before display. See the code below for a summary of how that works. What I'm finding is that this is starting to get difficult to manage. The code is becoming messy. Error handling of this type of dynamic content is ending up being spread all over the place. Not only that, it doesn't work how I want. What you see here is just a small snippet of code. For error handling I am using the validation library. I started by using add_rules on all the fields that come back in the post. As they are always phone numbers I set a required rule (when it's there) and a digit rule on the validation-as_array() keys. That works. The difficulty is actually giving it back to the view. i.e. dynamically added javascript field. Submits back to form. Save contents into a session. View has to load up fields from database + those from the previous post and signal the fields that have problems. It's all quite messy and I'm getting this code spread through both the view the controller and the model. So my question is. Have you done this before in Kohana and how have you handled it? There must be an easier way right?   What I am trying to do with this script is allow users to update a url for their websites, and since each user isn't going to have the same amount of websites is is hard for me to just add $_POST['website'] for each of these.   Background I am realtively new to hooks, and I have been asked to use a hook to populate a view with some data, currently the view gathers it data from a function that is in the model, and becuase the whole object is being passed to the view I can access the function. • JSF2 - Problems with Composite Components and Validatiors

  I've created some Facelets to make developing our pages easier. Particularly, I've created a series of Facelets for input components. I have 1 Facelet, <xxx:input /> that displays a label around the input field. Beyond that, I have Facelets like <xxx:inputText /> and <xxx:inputSecret /> that render the actual input field. Each of these makes use of <xxx:input /> to display the label. The Facelet looks something like this: <html ...> <composite:interface> ... </composite:interface> <composite:implementation> <label><h:outputText value="#{cc.attrs.labelText}" /></label> <composite:insertChildren /> </composite:implementation> </html> The <xxx:inputText /> Facelet would then look like this... <html ...> <composite:interface> ... </composite:interface> <composite:implementation> <xxx:input labelText=...> <h:inputText id="myinput" ... /> </xxx:input> </composite:implementation> </html> Everything renders just fine, but I am having troubles when trying to add <f:validator /> or other validation tags. From what I've read, I have to add a tag to my Facelet. So, I added <composite:editableValueHolder name="myinput" targets="myinput" /> line in the interface section. However, I still do not see my validator being fired. I have something like this in my .xhtml file... ... <xxx:inputText value="..."> <f:validateLength minimum="10" /> </xxx:inputText> ... Regardless of the input I enter, the validator never seems to fire and I never get an error message. A coworker suggested that it is due to the target ID I am using and the fact that it is wrapped by the <xxx:input /> Facelet. Do I need to incorporate the parent component ID in my target definition? Is there something else that I'm missing? It works just fine if I exclude the <xxx:input /> Facelet, so I'm assuming it's something related to that, but don't know how to solve it. Any help you can provide is GREATLY appreciated.

  Hi, I want to do something like this: user selects one radio button (lock,delete or compare). I want to show to him only the relevant column from the table. (each option has different column). The table is ajax. I guess i need to change the display style for every cell but i don't know how.
