• Das keyboard boot camp

  So I recently started using a Das keyboard ultimate with my mac and after installing the key re-mapping, it basically works ok. I have a couple of issues with the set up involving boot camp. When I start up the computer, which key maps to option in order to let me pick which operating system to boot into? I think the bios is detecting the keys along the bottom as alt or something like that and I am not sure what to do here. In windows 7, the " and @ keys are switched. How do I get windows to remap this back to the US english settings? Thanks for any help you can provide.

• How do I get meaningful error messages in IIS7?

  I have a classic ASP website that is crashing in IIS7. It is crashing because IIS doesn't allow file uploads greater than a certain size. I know this because files below about 200k work fine. I removed the Status Code 500 error in IIS but I still don't get a file name and the line where my code failed as I do when running locally. Instead I get: "The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred. If you are the system administrator please click here to find out more about this error." How do I get a file name and the line where my code failed? Here are my IIS settings:

• Can't star SSH on Ubuntu 12.10 AWS EC2

  So i've just started playing around with Ubuntu on Amazon EC2. I've just issued the following command to restart ssh but it has now "killed" ssh. sudo /etc/init.d/ssh restart I can't seem to ssh to this instance anymore. Putty just gives me "connection refused". NOTE: In this case I just restarted SSH to see the result. I didn't change any settings. This was to confirm that it was the restart command was the problem and not any configs I made. What is the correct way to restart SSH? P.S. That usually works on other Ubuntu boxes. Thanks. EDIT: It is also worth noting that when I ran that command I was taken straight back to a prompt. I didn't get any output on the console.

  I was able to use facebook chat with an external application using the following information: First, find your Facebook username by going to http://www.facebook.com/your_user/. Next, Open iChat, then select iChat » Preferences and click on the Accounts tab. Click on the + (plus) sign to add a new account, with these settings: * Account Type is Jabber Account * Account name is [email protected], and enter your password * Click the drop-down arrow to reveal Server options. Enter chat.facebook.com as the server name. * Enter 5222 as the port and click Done. Click Done again, and you are good to go. From reading this, it seems that it might be possible to telnet into facebook chat. I tried, but wasn't able to. Is it possible? How?

• Finding day of week in batch file? (Windows Server 2008)

  I have a process I run from a batch file, and i only want to run it on a certain day of the week. Is it possible to get the day of week? All the example I found, somehow rely on "date /t" to return "Friday, 12/11/2009", however, in my machine, "date /t" returns "12/11/2009". No weekday there. I've already checked the "regional settings" for my machine, and the long date format does include the weekday. The short date format doesn't, but i'd really rather not change that, since it'll affect a bunch of stuff I do. Any ideas here? Thanks! Daniel

  I have Asterisk/1.8.13.1 Asterisk GUI-version : SVN--r Yes, quite old one, but I can not update it since this is installed on my Synology NAS. NAS is connected to internet thru router Asus RT-N16. I should use the following data to connect to the server: Auth name – 7499952XXXX User name/User ID/Display Name – nickname Authorization user name - [email protected] Domain - sip.beeline.ru SIP proxy server - msk.sip.beeline.ru I've also found the following string: [email protected]:password:[email protected]@msk.sip.beeline.ru:5060/7499952XXXX I've tested the parameters on my PC thru X-Lite and it works well (so, assume there is no any problem with the router, no need to do anything with router's NAS settings). But since I am quite new to Asterisk, I can not understand where to input all these data. Asterisk GUI doesn't have fields for proxy: Can somebody please help me with step-by-step instruction? • How do I disable aalert beeps

  My HP pavilion laptop is getting pretty old and the speakers no longer work properly. So I've disabled all audio devices, including disabling the light-touch volume controls at boot-up. The one sound still here that I can't get rid of is teh alert beep whenever there's an error. It's annoying at the best of times, but when your laptop has no other sounds at all it's intensly irritating! Nothing I chaneg in the windows settings or in the BIOS seems to have any effect. Any ideas how to switch them off?

  CURRENT: single domain, single Exchange 2007 NEW: two domains, single Exchange 2007 Can this be done? Details: Current setup is a single W2k3 domain with a single Exchange 2007 server. We are merging with another company that currently hosts their email with their ISP via POP3. We'd like to start hosting their email on our Exchange server using their existing domain SMTP addresses. They don't have an AD domain at all at the moment. Recommendations? Can I do this with a trust between the 2 domains? Requirements: They can't have multiple SMTP addresses on both domains...such as I've seen with articles pointing to "hosting multiple domains". I want companyA to have the same account settings they've always had...companyB to have the same SMTP address they've had and not an additional one on the current companyA Exchange domain. They should be able to collaborate (calendar, contacts, GALs) but should still be distinguishable based on which company they "work for". Please help...thanks!

• Ad-hoc connection between iPhone and Macbook Pro

  I sometimes find it useful to connect my iPhone to my Macbook Pro by creating an ad-hoc wireless network from the MBP and connecting to that from the iPhone. However, what I find is that sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't. When it's not working the symptoms are usually that I see the ad-hoc SSID in the list of available networks on the iPhone, can connect to it from there (including entering my WEP key), and it shows up as the wifi network in use. However I don't get the wifi symbol in the taskbar (it remains as 3G) and attempting to use the connection (e.g. trying to connect to iTunes or Keynote using their respective Remote apps) fails saying that there is so wifi connection. I've tried rebooting both the iPhone and the MBP, recreating networks with different SSIDs and tried different channels - all to no avail! I'm especially puzzled that (a) sometimes it works just fine first time and (b) the Settings app seems to think its all connected fine. Is there anything else I should be trying?

• Booting Linux from External HDD, with persistence

  I am trying to install Linux, specifically Lubuntu or BackTrack 5 on an external HDD (Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex) but I have had no luck using YUMI, or Untebootin to get it working. I want the hard drive to be able to save the data within Linux (As in, If I install a program, it will stay there). I also tried doing this with a flash drive, which does boot, but it does not save data (I tried following Pendrive's tutorial on creating a casper-rw file and adding "persistent" to various files, but I cannot get it to save files. Basically, I just want a form of linux on a portable device that will save files and settings between boots Note: I do not have a CD to install from. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

• Netboot Intel Macs without BSDP

  I have a netboot setup with DeployStudio that works great in my lab, but doesn't work on our main network. After some digging, I believe it's because our network admins are filtering BSDP (Boot Service Discovery Protocol) on our subnet at the switch level. Is it possible to hard code which server my clients (early 2007 iMac Core2Duos) should boot from without relying on BSDP? Perhaps relevant details: I do not have control over switch configs or DHCP settings. Client and server are running 10.6 Snow Leopard. The clients see the netboot server advertising itself in the 'Startup Disk' system preferences pane, but when I go to netboot it just leaves me with a flashing globe.

  When I am logged into my machine directly, I can do all git operations, and when prompted for a password, the password is accepted. When I ssh into the same box and run git operations on the same repos, the password is rejected.   have a server 2003 domain controller i have installed active directory integrated dns under the forward lookup zone for domain_name.local i see an APIPA ip address that is set for (same as parent folder) with ip number 169.x.x.x looks like (same as parent folder) Host A 169.x.x.x (apipa subnet range) problem is, from other forums that i have read, that this is due to dual nics and one on that is not getting a dynamic or static ip address BUT... I only have one nic in this server? where could this be coming from and could it mess up other settings or not allowing the DC to be contacted? i am just wondering what symptoms could arise due to the record being there. any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

• Mouse Icon Distorted on Secondary Display

  I have a strange issue with a dual monitor, extended desktop setup where the mouse is always fine on the primary monitor, but sometimes when I move to the secondary display the icon becomes garbled and distorted (sometimes it just looks like a vertical line, instead of a pointer). If I move the mouse back and forth rapidly between primary and secondary displays the level of "garbledness" of the icon will change and sometimes go away completely. If I switch the display settings and set it to "Duplicate Monitor 1" then I end up with a garbled icon on the primary display and an accurate one on the secondary. Very annoying. Computer is Windows 7 Ultimate with an HD8750 and the newest video drivers. Monitors are two Dell 24" displays connected via DVI cables. I have also tried VGA cables.

  Is is possible to configure WordPress permalinks directly in Apache httpd.conf? I have a server situation (Apache 2.2.3 CentOS PHP5.1.6) where I can't use .htaccess for performance reasons, but can use httpd.conf. The admin says that mod_rewrite is enabled, but AllowOverride is not, and I can't change those settings. And I need to restrict the permalinks to just the "blog" directory. • Unable to Boot from USB External Hard Drive

  I recently upgraded my main development machine to Windows 7. This involved wiping out my primary boot drive (Windows XP 64-bit) and starting clean. Before I wiped it, I did a direct disk-to-disk copy to a big external hard drive I have. While I have been able to migrate most of the necessary files without any problems, I was wanting to boot from it today to check a few settings. I plugged in the hard drive, rebooted, changed the BIOS to boot from USB-HDD first. But, no mattter what I do, it always boots from my primary drive to Windows 7. I do not see any kind of error message or anything. How can I boot to Windows XP 64-bit on this external hard drive?

• MySQL keeps crashing OS server.. Please help adjust my.ini!

  I have MySQL 5.0 installed on a Windows 2008 machine (3GB RAM). My server crashes on a regular basis (almost once a day) with this error: Changed limits: max_open_files: 2048 max_connections: 800 table_cache: 619 I did not use the heavy InnoDB .ini file, although I am rethinking that I should have? I am worried that big configuration changes will make my current sites stop working. What should I do? • Alternate port numbers for Supermicro IPMI View software

  I'm using the IPMI View software to manage a SuperMicro server but would like to use alternate port #s within the program itself. In other words - If I use the web browser, it defaults to port 80 - While I can, say change that port to 12345 (or whatever) and type the IP address into the browser (like http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:12345 ) that works just fine. However, in IPMIView, it will assume port 80 and load the browser with the IP (which, naturally, won't work, so I have to manually type in the alternate port #). I can deal with that. The clincher is if I use a port other than 623 for management - (say 55623 for example), the IPMIView will not find it. Same goes for the iKVM port #. Is there some place to specify this (to tell IPMIView to use the alternate port numbers), like a settings file? I'm running this from a Windows client.

  If I browse to my site, I get a 500 "internal server error." However, if I SSH into my server and go to my site's folder and run "python mysite.fcgi" I see the HTML rendered fine. Obviously, something is wrong, but I'm not sure what.   Platform :- Fedora 13 32-bit machine RemoteMachine$ ./rpcapd -n ClientMachine$ tshark -w "filename" -i "any interface name" As soon as capture starts without any capture filter, thousands of packets get captured. Rpcapd binds to 2002 port by default and while establishing the connection it sends a randomly chosen port number to the client for further communication. Both client and server machines exchange tcp packets through randomly chosen ports. So, I cannot even specify the capture filter to block this rpcap related tcp traffic. Wireshark & tshark for Windows have an option "Do not capture own Rpcap Traffic" in Remote Settings in Edit Interface Dialog box. But there is no such option in tshark for linux. It will be also better if anyone can tell me how wireshark blocks rpcap traffic....

• Windows 8 Microsoft Account and Microsoft Store doesn't allow login

  The problem is that I have to go through proxy here in college to make my internet work. When I signed with my live id to switch to the Microsoft account in Windows 8, it recognized and validate my security questions but says it cannot connect to Microsoft Services. All other apps like mail, messenger, etc. work except for the Windows Store. The windows store what apps are available but when installed, queues it up for a pending download. Is there a way to modify my proxy settings so that I can access both these features?
