    I am sending mails (in asp.net ,c#), having a template in text file (.txt) like below User Name :<User Name> Address : <Address>. I used to replace the words within the angle brackets in the text file using the below code StreamReader sr; sr = File.OpenText(HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath(txt)); copy = sr.ReadToEnd(); sr.Close(); //close the reader copy = copy.Replace(word.ToUpper(),"#" + word.ToUpper()); //remove the word specified UC //save new copy into existing text file FileInfo newText = new FileInfo(HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath(txt)); StreamWriter newCopy = newText.CreateText(); newCopy.WriteLine(copy); newCopy.Write(newCopy.NewLine); newCopy.Close(); Now I have a new problem, the user will be adding new words within an angle, say for eg, they will be adding <Salary>. In that case i have to read out and find the word <Salary>. In other words, I have to find all the words, that are located with the angle brackets (<). How do I do that?

    Getting the following error when trying to open a word document with macros to fill in the form fields: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Word\Security\AccessVBOM. The user opening the word document does not have admin rights and the AccessVBOM flag is either not available or set to zero. I can set the flag for the HKCU (Current user) programmaticallybut cannot change setting for inunder HKLM . Please advise how can we enable the trust for the VBA project programmatically. Thx Kumar

  • SSIS package randomly hangs during execution

    Hi Guys, I am having an ongoing and painful problem with an SSIS package. The package runs every 5 minutes as an SQL Agent Job and every 2-10 days the package will start running and never stop (thus preventing further executions). If I stop the hung job manually it will begin working perfectly again in the next 5 minute interval. The SSIS package is for moving data from an Oracle database to a MSSQL 2005 database. It has 7 steps: Step 1 calls an Oracle Stored Procedure to prepare the temporary tables inside ORACLE Steps 2-6 process the data from the ORACLE tables to the MSSQL tables ORACLE - MSSQL Step 7 calls an Oracle Stored Procedure to clear the ORACLE temporary tables I suspect that the issue is caused by a communications error between the MSSQL server and the ORACLE server. Both the MSSQL database and Agent/package run on one machine with the ORACLE database running over the network.     I quite often receive questions where users are looking for solution to following error: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error ’80040e07′ Syntax error converting datetime from character string. OR Microsoft SQL Native Client error ’80040e07′ Syntax error converting datetime from character string. If you have ever faced above error – I have a very simple solution for you. The solution is being very check date which is inserted in the datetime column. This error often comes up when application or user is attempting to enter an incorrect date into the datetime field. Here is one of the examples – one of the reader was using classing ASP Application with OLE DB provider for SQL Server. When he tried to insert following script he faced above mentioned error. INSERT INTO TestTable (ID, MyDate) VALUES (1, '01-Septeber-2013') The reason for the error was simple as he had misspelled September word. Upon correction of the word, he was able to successfully insert the value and error was not there. Incorrect values or the typo’s are not the only reason for this error. There can be issues with cast or convert as well. If you try to attempt following code using SQL Native Client or in your application you will also get similar errors. SELECT CONVERT (datetime, '01-Septeber-2013', 112) The reason here is very simple, any conversion attempt or any other kind of operation on incorrect date/time string can lead to the above error. If you not using embeded dynamic code in your application language but using attempting similar operation on incorrect datetime string you will get following error. Msg 241, Level 16, State 1, Line 2 Conversion failed when converting date and/or time from character string. Remember: Check your values of the string when you are attempting to convert them to string – either there can be incorrect values or they may be incorrectly formatted. I found two approaches which seemed promising at first but don't look like they will work. OpenXML SDK The OpenXML SDK isn't available for Silverlight at this time. Word Automation via COM Interop dynamic wordApplication = AutomationFactory.CreateObject("Word.Application"); Apparently this requires that the Silverlight 4 application be granted permission to run with elevated privileges, which is only available for out-of-browser applications (which ours isn't) My other thought is to hand off the request to a back-end service which doesn't have these limitations.     Hi, I have a 5 year old web application which runs tinymce 2.0.5.1 In this version it is possible - in IE 6,7,8 only to paste from MS Word and retain the tab characters. Because of another problem suspected to be caused by TinyMCE, we'd like to upgrade to the current TinyMCE version 3.2.7 However in this version the resulting paste code does not contain anything that seems to 100% link to a tabulator. If pasted into an empty textarea, I get something like , if pasted into a I simply a space character. Can anyone recommend how to detect tabulators when pasting from MS Word?

    [Environment] Server Sharepoint Portal Server 2003 Client Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0 Microsoft Office 2003 Hello~ Today I received a call from one of my client and she said that she received an alert, "Ambiguous name detected: tempDDE" when attemping to open a doc from library. So I googled some and found solutions from MS and others and modified from Normal.dot to Normal1.dot. But after that, when I opened it again from library another problem happend and it is the doc contents is not loaded. When I click the link of doc, then the WIN?WORD.exe pops up but the contents of the document is not showing up (Silent). I tried some Open the doc file using Word Open Menu (Library Link) = Worked Get the url of the file and open it uing using Word Open Menu = Worked Add the url to Trusted Site = Done but not helped Any advices are welcomed.     Given a word jumble (i.e. ofbaor), what would be an approach to unscramble the letters to create a real word (i.e. foobar)? I could see this having a couple of approaches, and I think I know how I'd do it in .NET, but I curious to see what some other solutions look like (always happy to see if my solution is optimal or not). This isn't homework or anything like that, I just saw a word jumble in the local comics section of the paper (yes, good ol' fashioned newsprint), and the engineer in me started thinking.

    I am writing a Word add-in which is supposed to store some own XML data per document using Word object model and its CustomXMLPart. The problem I am now facing is the lack of IStream-like functionality for reading/writing XML to/from a CustomXMLPart. It only provides BSTR interface and I am puzzled how to handle UTF-8 XMLs with BSTRs. To my understanding an UTF-8 XML file should really never have to undergo this sort of Unicode conversion. I am not sure what to expect as a result here. Is there another way of using Word automation interfaces to store arbitrary custom information inside a DOCX file?

    I'm trying to use regex to add a span to the first word of content for a page, however the content contains HTML so I am trying to ensure just a word gets chosen. The content changes for every page. Current script is: preg_match('/(<(.*?)>)*/i',$page_content,$matches); $stripped = substr($page_content,strlen($matches[0])); preg_match('/\b[a-z]* \b/i',$stripped,$strippedmatch); echo substr($page_content, 0, strlen($matches[0])).'<span class="h1">'.$strippedmatch[0].'</span>'.substr($stripped, strlen($strippedmatch[0])); However if the $page_content is <p><span class="title">This is </span> my title!</p> Then my regex thinks the first word is "span" and adds the tags around that. Is there any way to fix this? (or a better way to do it).

We have a collection of Microsoft Word documents on an ASP.NET web server with merge fields whose values are filled in as a result of user form submissions. After the field merge, the server must convert the document to PDF and stream it down to the browser. Our first inclination was to use the Visual Studio Tools for Office API; however, we ran into this warning from Microsoft: Microsoft does not currently recommend, and does not support, Automation of Microsoft Office applications from any unattended, non-interactive client application or component (including ASP, ASP.NET, DCOM, and NT Services), because Office may exhibit unstable behavior and/or deadlock when Office is run in this environment. It looks like the field manipulation can be done using the Open XML SDK, but what's the best way to convert Word 2007 documents to PDF without opening Word? The optimal solution would be low-cost, scalable, have a low memory footprint, be easy to deploy, and have a .NET API.

  • Problem with finding the next word in RichTextBox

    As I enter a character in my RichTextBox, I want to get the next character from the its TextRange. So here is how I do it: TextPointer ptr1= RichTextBox.CaretPosition; char nextChar = GetNextChar(); while (char.IsWhiteSpace(nextChar)) { ptr1= ptr1.GetNextInsertionPosition(LogicalDirection.Forward); nextChar = GetCharacterAt(Ptr1); } then I get the ptr1 of the next character and from the TextPointer, I get the TextRange, and do my changes. So here is the problem? when the next word is spelled correctly, I have no problem, but if it's not spelled properly then ptr1 would not point to the first character of the next word (the second character), and if I use GetNextContextPosition(LogicalDirection.Forward) it would give me the first letter of the next word if it's misspelled. So depending on the spelling only one of them works? I was just wondering if you have any idea about this problem? Is there anything wrong I am doing here?
