• Backing up thunderbird from win to linux

  I'm planning to format this laptop soon and although the e-mail is from google and all my mails is there, re-downloading is kinda out of the question since it takes hours to finish. I want to back-up my thunderbird, which folder should I back-up and where to place it in linux? Another thing is that I want to use Evolution mail, loving the progress they've done so far, is it possible to import from thunderbird to evo?

  I recently re-installed non-English Windows XP Home SP2 to two computers. Why the computers don't start downloading software updates ? I have valid licenses and the copies have been activated successfully. Over the years I have made several XP installations from the same media and there has been no issues earlier (i.e. the software updates have started a quite soon). I do have the automatic software updates turned on (as I have always).

  i have windows 7 x64 and ubuntu 10.04 installed on my machine. while i download at ~15 MiB/sec in ubuntu (reaches almost at an instant), it takes almost a minute or two for win7 to reach that speed while downloading -say- a film. also the connection becomes unresponsive for some time periods in win7. i experienced this in several win7 installations (x64 prof. always, same version).

  I've got to move email from one shared-hosting server to another. The reason to move is my current provider doesn't support IMAP, so access to emails is only through POP. I have 5 accounts to move, with 3 of them being 500MB. Is there a way to do it? I think the codeen ones don't allow HTTP-POST I don't need them for downloading or for torrents, or even for any images.. they can block images to keep browsing faster.   I'd like to update Safari to 4.0.5 for security reasons, but I can't figure out how to run the Apple updater manually. On Mac there's usually a "Check for Updates" menu item, but I don't see one on the Windows version. I tried downloading the latest version from http://www.apple.com/safari/download/, but Windows won't let me open the file, saying it is a security risk.
