  • Can't disable Alt + mouse buttons combinations

    I've already searched through the questions, and didn't find the same question as I want to ask. I'm working in blender and there are some combinations that I am used to and remapping them in blender would be the last resort, not the first. I have tried to disable Alt+LMB and Alt+RMB actions in ccsm, I've tried to do this in dconf or gconf editors as well, but nothing helped. As soon as I close the editors or get back to the main screen of ccsm, these combinations are enabled again. So, for example, instead of selecting an edge loop in blender with Alt+RMB, I get this goddamn menu offering me to move the window to another workspace, etc. I really don't need this function, so I'd rather switch it off instead of remapping the hotkeys I'm used to in blender.

  • Mouse wheel on Dell Vostro V13

    I have a Dell Vostro V13, which Canonical claim is "Certified" for Ubuntu (http://www.ubuntu.com/certification/make/Dell/laptops). So it surprises me that the synaptics trackpad isn't recognised as such and defaults to psmouse emulation. This means no multitouch, no gestures, and more importantly, no mousewheel scrolling. Because it's not loading the synaptic driver, running gpointing-device-settings doesn't help. I've found this bug : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/380126 which suggests a fix has been committed, but I can't see a way of getting this loaded on my Maverick build. I've tried backports and proposed repos in synaptic, but no joy. Any ideas?

    If considering to develop a web browser based game with multiple people and it's an RPG, click to move would probably be the only choice in movement right? Because if you were to use WASD and then ajax to the server every second that a player held on to the WASD key, that'd be pretty resource intensive if the server had to calculate the position and return the map image, assuming the next few screens are already buffered right? or is there a way to implement a WASD style and still have server side do all the calculations. (server side calculations to avoid cheating)

Further testing revealed that it did work in Firefox. Rather than telling people to change their browser if they want to play, I want to make the button code work. How else can I get the buttons to know when they're being pressed if the built-in stuff isn't working?

  • Cannot move/drag/drop windows/items in remote VNC session

    I find it a little hard to believe that no one here has asked this question, I tried searching for it but it isn't asked, so here goes: I setup a Ubuntu desktop computer with VNC to use as a server. And use another Ubuntu desktop computer to VNC into it. The rest of the VNC works ok, but drag and drop with mouse is gone. Thus I can not move windows, or drag and drop items via VNC. I am using the default remote desktop in System - Preferences to setup my server. And use Remmina as my client. The same happens using MS Windows's VNC clients connecting to my Ubuntu desktop. I did a bit of searching on google, and there are actually a lot of reports regarding this issue. But, oddly there is no solution. There are even bug reports made for this since Ubuntu 9.10, yet here it still is in Ubuntu 11.04. There have been suggestions that the bugs is in gtk, as see in link below: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1497635&page=2 libgtk2.0-0 stable(lenny) -> DnD works libgtk2.0-0 lenny-backport (libgtk2.0-0_2.18.6-1~bpo50+1_i386) -> DnD still works libgtk2.0-0 testing (libgtk2.0-0_2.20.1-2_i386) -> DnD broken please don't give answers such as "use NX", "use ssh -x" or "use x11vnc". I am aware that some people don't have this problem with x11vnc, and I have setup x11vnc before, but i can't for this setup. I am setting this up so Windows only friends/families can use it.

  • SSD on USB 3.0 doesnt always mount

    I would like to ask you for some support for this issue. The SSD I use is apparently slightly damaged. Atm it shows this popular Corsair Series 3 problem. symptom: the disk is working for some minutes and then just suddenly stops. Two months ago it worked like a charm. This was my boot device in these days. So now I still need to copy some data out of the device which leads me to my question. Usually the SSD is working again for some minutes, when i unplug and replug its power. It gets detected by the system again and I can continue my backup. The problem on Ubuntu is, that it is not recognized again after two or three replugs. I have to reboot to bring it back. To specify this situation: when i unplug and replug my USB mouse before i reboot it is not recognized as well. So something seems to be wrong with the system also. my question: how do i fix this rebooting issue? I will post all the logs you need to analyse. The problem doesnt depend on the interface.   • System randomly freezes yet mouse still moves

    This problem has lasted for the past 48 hours. The first time it happened, a program I was running stopped responding, so I tried to end it from task manager. The processes at first were listed fine until hovered upon. Eventually, despite the mouse still being able to move, after a few persisting clicks the mouse finally stopped moving. The screen went blank shortly thereafter. The second time it occurred, items on the screen stopped responding - hovering over the taskbar or such wouldn't elicit a response. Sound would still play however. Eventually, the mouse became unresponsive and the system restarted itself. I suspect that it may be a problem of my SSD drive. After looking through some Google search results, I downloaded HDTunePro to determine if there's a problem with the drive. Results returned a problem of reallocated sector count. An error scan also revealed 48 bad sectors. Also, an attempt to backup the contents of the most important areas of the drive returned a few explorer "Error: cannot read source from disk" errors. Should I ditch the drive and use another drive or is there anything that can be done to repair the drive? SSD: OCZ Petrol 64gb CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 640 RAM: Generic 3GB DDR2 Motherboard: Gigabyte MA74GM-S2H OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Thanks!

  • Scroll up/down while selecting multi-page block of text in Vim through putty

    I'm using vim 6.3.81 on a xterm through putty. When I use set mouse=a , I can scroll through the file , but not select text. When mouse is disabled using set mouse=, I can select text with mouse (automatically copied to a buffer) , but if the text block is over one page long , I can't scroll up/down (and have to select text one screen at a time) !! Is there any way to have the best of both - while selecting text with mouse , if i reach the end of page , it automatically scrolls up/down depending on whether i've reached top/bottom of page and allows me to select text from the next page as well ? I know vim is powerful/flexible enough to do what I want - I just don't know how !! Can anyone help ?

    Hi, I have a JSlider which shows bet sizes (for a poker game) I am trying to achieve the effect that when a mouse click occurs the slider jumps forward by a bet amount (i.e. a big blind amount) rather than just incrementing by one. If the mouse click happens to the left of the bar i want it to decrement by a fixed amount else increment. I looked into attaching a mouse listener, but do not know how I can use the event to find out on what side of the bar the mouse was clicked. Any ideas?

    Once a page with a textarea is loaded, I want some textarea to have the focus immediatly if the mouse cursor is inside that textarea. This is the easy part because a onmousehover handler can set the focus. Now, how to I also set the position of the caret? I would like the caret to be where it would be if the user had clicked using the mouse to set the focus/caret. The basic use case is : User clicks on a link and waits (mouse barely moves) A page is delivered, it contains a big textarea only, full of text User types using keyboard Characters are inserted right below the mouse cursor Today the user has to wait until the caret is visible (at the top left of the textarea) and then click to move the caret before typing.     Hello everyone, I am using Silverlight 3 + VSTS 2008. I have a image (Multiscale image control) and I place tooltip on this image. The function of Tooltip works fine. Since the image is big (about 500 * 500 size), and since end user could move mouse on the picture, and I want to display tooltip position along with the mouse (i.e. when mouse moves, I want to tooltip move along with the mouse). Currently, the tooltip displays at a fixed position.   • Tracking Mouse Stop

    I am trying to track mouse movements in the browser, and if a user stops their mouse for 0.5 seconds, to execute some code. I have put a breakpoint in the code below in firebug, and it breaks on the var mousestop = function(evt) line, but then jumps to the return statement. Am I missing something simple? Why isn't it executing the POST statement? I am tracking mouse clicks in a similar way, and it posts to the server just fine.   • Disable the mouse click event of a button placed inside a listbox item

    I have a button placed inside a listbox item and i have style defined fro that button where i have two images and on mouse hover i change the image. Now the problem is I am handling the listbox mouse event and when click the button the listbox mouse event doesn't fires. I tried to make the property of button ishittestvisisble=false And now if i click on button the listbox mouse event fires but the problem is the two images placed inside the styling of button don't apply as they are the child of button and by default their ishittestvisible also turn out to be false. So any suggestion or idea will be helpfull ....tx in advance...
