• Are there cross-platform tools to write XSS attacks directly to the database?

  I've recently found this blog entry on a tool that writes XSS attacks directly to the database. It looks like a terribly good way to scan an application for weaknesses in my applications. I've tried to run it on Mono, since my development platform is Linux. Unfortunately it crashes with a System.ArgumentNullException deep inside Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary and I seem to be unable to find sufficient information about the software (it seems to be a single-shot project, with no homepage and no further development). Is anyone aware of a similar tool? Preferably it should be: cross-platform (Java, Python, .NET/Mono, even cross-platform C is ok) open source (I really like being able to audit my security tools) able to talk to a wide range of DB products (the big ones are most important: MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, ...)

Person is an entity containing an Id and a Name: public class Person { public Guid Id { get; private set; } public string Name { get; private set; } } Let's say my db table contains a single person whose name is "John". • SSIS Data Flow Task Excel Source

  Hi, I have a data flow task set up in SSIS. The source is from an Excel source not an SQL DB. The problem i seem to get is that, the package is importing empty rows. My data has data in 555200 rows, but however when importing the SSIS package imports over 900,000 rows. The extra rows are imported even though the other empty. When i then download this table into excel there are empty rows in between the data. Is there anyway i can avoid this? Thanks Gerard

• PHP: Infinity loop and Time Limit!

  Hi, I have a piece of code that fetches data by giving it an ID. If I give it an ID of 1230 for example, the code fetches an article data with an ID of 1230 from a web site (external) and insert it into a DB. Now, the problem is that I need to fetch all the articles, lets say from ID 00001 to 99999. If a do a 'for' loop, after 60 seconds the PHP internal time limit stops the loop. If a use some kind of header("Location: code.php?id=00001") or header("Location: code.php?id=".$ID) and increase $ID++ and then redirect to the same page the browser stops me because of the infinite loop or redirection problem. Please HELP!

• Copying a massive databse for local ruby on rails development?

  Hi guys, There is a massive database (GB) that I am working with now and all of the previous development has been done on a slicehost slice. I am trying to get ready for more developers to come in and work so I need each person to be able to setup his own machine for development, which means potentially copying this database. Selecting only the first X rows in each table to cut size could be problematic for data consistency. Is there any way around this, or is a 1 hour download for each developer going to be necessary? And beyond that, what if I need to copy the production DB down for dev purposes in the future? Sincerely, Tyler

• How do I do a where clause in sql and return a count back?

  Hi I am using mssql and I want to make a query that returns a count back with a where clause. Like say I have a product Table ProductId ProductName Active So how would I make it I have like Select Count(*) From Product now I don't know how to filter it so it only could if Active = true; So if there are 3 active products then it would return a count of 3 even if there is a hundred rows in the db and the other 97 are only not active. so the where clause would be probably like where active = true I am not sure how to put them together though.

I tried following code but that didn't work - (void)controllerDidChangeContent:(NSFetchedResultsController *)controller { // In the simplest, most efficient, case, reload the table view. [self.tableView reloadData]; } I have been stuck with this problem for several days.Please help.Thanks in advance for solution.

How would I get around this issue in the most elegant way? My current idea is to put the stuff from the Index controlleraction in a [NonAction] and call that method from both the Index action and in the CreateUser action, but I have a feeling there must be a better way.   I am moving an old store from a Win2003 IIS6 server to a Win2008 IIS7 server, moved everything across including database. The front end seems to work just fine, but when I login it has to do pull in data based on date ranges and now from no where I am getting this error? The conversion of a varchar data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range value Any ideas why this would do this on the new server and NOT on the old one? No code has changed and the DB is a backup of the one from the old server??

  I’m working on a sandwich ordering app in ASP.NET MVC, C# and LINQ to SQL. The app revolves around the user creating multiple custom-made sandwiches from a selection of ingredients. When it comes to confirming the order I need to know that there’s enough portions of each ingredient to fulfil all the sandwiches in the user’s order before I commit to the DB as it is possible that an ingredient will go out of stock between adding it to their basket and confirming the order. A bit about the database: Ingredient – Stores ingredient details including number of portions Order – Header table for an order, simply stores the order time OrderDetail – Stores a record of each sandwich in an order OrderDetailItem – Stores each ingredient in each sandwich in an order So basically I’m wondering what the best approach to ensuring that before I add records to Order, OrderDetail and OrderDetailItem I can ensure that the order can be met.

• Best architecture for accessing secondary database

  I'm currently developing an app which will use a Linq to SQL (or possibly EF) data access layer. We already have a database which holds all our Contacts information, but there is currently no API around this. I need to interact with this DB from the new app to retrieve contact details. I can think of two ways I could do this - 1) Develop a suite of web services against the contacts database 2) Write a Linq to SQL (or EF) DAL and API against the contacts database I will probably be developing several further apps in the future which will also need access to the Contacts data. Which would generally be the prefered method? What are the points I need to consider? Am I even asking a sensible question, or am I missing something obvious?

  Hi, I'm trying to create a database connection in a python script to my DB2 database. When the connection is done I've to run some different SQL statements. I googled the problem and has read the ibm_db API (http://code.google.com/p/ibm-db/wiki/APIs) but just can't seem to get it right. I really tried everything (or, not everything but pretty damn close) and I can't get it to work. I just need to make a automatic test python script that can test different queries with different indexes and so on and for that I need to create and remove indexes a long the way.   Me and my friend started working together as partners , we have decided to make Kick-as* website after website. We have the ideas written down like 100's of them (yes we are choosing best and easy among them first). My friend does the layout design and arranging things , and my part is coding and server management. The little problem i am facing is lack of experience in planing a project. What i do is, I just start the code straight away and along with code I make DB, like when i need a table i make it. I know this is very bad approach for a medium sized project. Here at stackoverflow i saw lots of experienced coders. Need to learn a lot from you guys :) . • Syntax error converting the nvarchar value to a column of data type int.

  I have 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 stored as nvarchar inside Level in my db. I then have a dropdownlist with values 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9. When a user makes a selection (i.e 1) (Level.SelectedValue.ToString). This builds an sql query via a param like this: "Select things From MBA_EOI Where level = 1" When I run the select I get the following error: Syntax error converting the nvarchar value '1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9' to a column of data type int. I was under the impression that I was dealing with an Nvarchar field and the selected value as string, where does the int conversion come in? p.s I have also tried Level.SelectedItem.ToString

• Joomla Development - Allow Direct File Access AND use Joomla-intern Framework

  Hi As usual you write in Joomla Development defined('_JEXEC') or die('Restricted access'); I make a plugin which needs access from Paypal/IPN, so i exclude that in that specific file. BUT I also need to use the Joomla-intern Variables to access the Database, so i tried this: require("../filewithaccesstoframework.php"); OR even $baseurl = $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST']; $baseurl ="http://".$baseurl."/configuration.php"; require($baseurl); By using the first code it displays "Restircted Access" since it seems to take this from the included file which i can't skip to put-in-there. The second code does not seem to recognize the Variables used in configuration.php like $host, $db, $password. the file configuration.php is chmod 444 Why this happens and is there a workarround to allow direct access to a file AND using the Joomla intern Framework (Variables, Functions)?

• How do I get a linq to sql group by query into the asp.net mvc view?

  Sorry for the newbie question, but I have the following query that groups parking spaces by their garage, but I can't figure out how to iterate the data in the view. I guess I should strongly type the view but am a newbie and having lots of problems figuring this out. Any help would be appreciated. Visitors are recognized by a unique has storred in a cookie and in the favorites table. I need to alter this query so that I can get just the last months worth of songs.   I have been asked to create import functionality in my application. I am getting an excel worksheet as input. The worksheet has column headers followed by data. The users want to simply select an xls file from their system, click upload and the tool deletes the table in the database and adds this new data. I thought the best way would be too bring the data into a datatable object and do a foeach for every row in the datatable insert row by row into the db. My question is what can anyone give me code to open an excel file, know what line the data starts on in the file, and import the data into a datable object?

• Installing Refinery CMS on Windows

  Hi all, I cannot get Refinery cms to install on my crappy Vista machine. I have followed all instructions on http://github.com/resolve/refinerycms but the bundler doesn't work because there is not gemfile (I have copied the gemfile from github but it fails at rmagick gem) and have also tried the command line instructions but it fails at rake db:setup. I have tried installing all required gems myself but this makes no difference. Can anyone give me a quick step by step on how to get it running? I have now completely removed ruby so can start afresh. I have the installers from rubyinstaller.org and have tried with both 1.8.7 and 1.9. I have mysql 5.1 installed. Much appreciated!

• ASP.NET error when trying to configure ListView + SqlDatasource for a MySql Table

  Hi, i'm using ASP.NET + a MySql Db. I'm trying to configure a ListView so i've written: <asp:SqlDataSource ID="dsDatiUtente" runat="server" ConnectionString="Server=12.28.136.29;Database=mydb;Uid=m111d1;Pwd=fake;Pooling=false;" ProviderName="MySql.Data.MySqlClient" SelectCommand="SELECT * FROM user WHERE idUser=@IdUser" / At the beginning of my aspx page i've added <%@ Import Namespace="MySql.Data.MySqlClient" %> But if i click to the sqldatasource and click "Refresh Schema" i got this error: "Unable to retrive schema.... Unable to find the requested .Net Framework data provider" For instance, i've installed it , but i've also uninstalled old version, then installed new versions. In my project i simple copy Mysql dll into "bin" folder, then add a reference to that dll. I'm not sure is the corrected way... I need to have the "refreshed schema" to permit vs.net to build automatically my listview ... if i can't to "auto build" listview, i have to write all code by hand, and it is a too expensive work me :( What i'm wrong ? • What to know - for building a form with PHP and MySQL

  Hello all, I have three weeks to perform the following basic task. I wish to create an online form in PHP that will get 5 numbers and with them: save the numbers to a MySQL DB do a simple computation on the numbers and return them as an output to the visitor I already have a domain, hosting and a MySQL database+user. I don't know PHP, or SQL or databases. I do have prior knowledge in C and R (which means I have some of the basics of programming, and I am not intimidated of a new languages). My question are: Am I missing something? is there some other skill I should have for this task that I don't know of? What is a good way to learn the skills needed for the task I described? Hope the question isn't too basic/general. Thanks!
