• Xinerama creates a panning viewport

  EDIT: I've created a bug report: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48458 My Setup I have 4 monitors, 1920x1080, which are in portrait mode (rotated left). They are connected to two radeon graphic cards. As usual, a picture says more than a thousand words. The problem Everything works fine, when Xinerama is disabled. But when I enable Xinerama, things get weird. When I move the mouse of the screen and return, the screen contents begin to move with the mouse, only on this monitor. It seems like the virtual display size does not match the real screen size, which activates a panning viewport. Any idea how to stop this? • DXVA and ATI.... what am I missing?

  ATI Radeon HD3650 ffdshow (the one comes with CCCP 2010-10 AND the latest from Free-codecs site) Catalyst 10.12 Latest DirectX, Windows 7 HP x64 If I try to play it simply, the player (mpc-hc) won't use the acceleration. If I disable checks, I get artifacts. Back then it worked perfectly with my Intel and ATI too (Lenovo ThinkPad T500, switchable graphics). This only appeared recently. What should I do? What am I missing? If possible, I don't really want to downgrade drivers (waaa ATI drivers s.ck ... sorry but.. honestly), because the older one got a buggy DP driver so my external display gets a totally wrong resolution. • Firefox not displaying icons in KhanAcademy

  If you don't know what Khan Academy is, check it out. It's awesome. (For testing purpose you may view any video on the website.) My problem -- it's a minor problem, but annoying -- is that in Firefox (Windows 7), the icons below the video are shown as boxes with hex codes in them. This means the icons come from some font that isn't getting downloaded by Firefox. How it appears on Chrome (Windows 7), Safari (Mac OS X) and Stainless (Mac OS X): I checked out the source and found that the font in question is called "FontAwesome". I found this question in S.O. that may explain why this happens -- the CSS does use single quotes to enclose the font's src location. However I don't have any write access to Khan Academy servers so I can't modify the actual website. I want to know if this can be fixed in Firefox, and how. I can run Greasemonkey scripts if that would help. Also, would manually downloading the font and adding it to Windows' Fonts folder help? I tried this with the TTF font, and it does not help. • Is this processor burned?

  I've recently exchange the processors in two PCChips boards. Both boards are LGA775. Board A is P17G(Pentium 4 HyperThreading 3GHz) and board B is P49G(Pentium Dual Core 3GHz). I use board A to watch videos, and some of them are 3GB size and this is why I exchanged the CPU. I installed Dual Core in board A and it worked out of the box, now 3GB videos use 5% of CPU instead of 50%. When I installed the pentium in the board B, I forgot to connect the 4pin power and, when i powered on the PC, the CPU fan stay off. Then, I connected all right this time, and now the board doesnt show video. I think the CPU is not working but im not sure about that. The PC turns on and the HD spins, the CPU fan spins, network socket blinking, but not video and case power led is neither blinking. I tried with other PSU and everything was the same. I figure out that CPU have that paste above. IDK really what's happening, I hope I dont have to buy another CPU. Is it Burned?

• Solid State Drive Occasionally Freezes For A Minute While OS Is "Beach Balling"

  Almost a month ago I bought Intel 330 128GB solid state drive, migrated my data with Intel branded limited-feature Acronis from old HDD to new SSD, optimized with Intel Toolbox and started using it. Occassionally I get close to 1 minute freezes while seeing operating system "beach balls" and animations still work, I can interact and click on something but nothing responds, nothing loads. Recently a couple of such freezes occurred in shorter amount of time in a row. I have noticed that if I stop interacting with laptop, the freeze lasts less time than if I was interacting with laptop. But the bigger problem is when freeze just does not end and computer keeps being stuck unlil it is more than half hour and I run out of patience to keep waiting and feeling I need to restart the system because I am not getting anywhere. Such freeze happened while laptop was cold booting into Windows 7. This is when freeze hang occurred and I had to restart, only later to be greeted with Windows recovery screen stating something about faiure of boot sector and asking to insert Windows repair CD. But after I restarted, Windows booted successfully and all was well. I have filmed video of freeze hang occurring in cold boot which you can see here (on video page look below for description): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8b7MQlcDTUs As I have mentioned in the beginning, the SSD is less than a month old but here is S.M.A.R.T statistics just in case (TRIM is enabled btw according to CrystalDiskInfo): I want to emphasize that this SSD is the only drive I have, yet it is working in RAID mode (it was enabled initially in BIOS by previous laptop's owner) on Intel Rapid Storage drivers. I am contemplating about switching to AHCI mode but want to be sure this won't cause data loss. Additionally, the stock firmware is the only firmware available currently, yet Intel does not respond to my posts in their community board. If anyone here has this SSD model or generally has experience with SSD drives, I would love to know your thoughts.

• Bad Intel DQ965GF motherboard? Fails memtest, but memory is good.

  I've got a machine with a DQ965GF motherboard. Two days ago it started locking up hard. Ran memtest 3.3, 1.7, and TestMem 4. TestMem just freezes, memtest failed on moving 8 bit inversions. Letting memtest run eventually causes the system to restart. I pulled memory sticks one by one, and then replaced the memory with a couple of known good sticks. No luck. I switched power supplies, didn't help. Swapped video cards just to be safe. No help. When I start the machine I get a single beep before it POSTs. According to the manual, a single beep means: 1 beep - Refresh Error (with nothing on the screen and it is not a video problem) I'm assuming that the motherboard has failed since it's obviously not a RAM or power issue. Do you agree? NOTE: I also tried resetting BIOS defaults, and even flashed the BIOS to the latest version. I also ran the Mersenne Prime Test and the CPU seems to click along just fine. (Tried logging in to superuser with openid but it's not working for me today. Hope this gets through)

  Hello - I am experiencing really poor local network performance in my home. I was recently using a Linksys WRT54G Router with DD-WRT on it, and a couple comparable Linksys-G PCI cards for connectivity but decided to upgrade hoping it would help with my performance issues. The computers in my house are connected as follows: Comcast Business Class Commercial 25mbps/10mbps (Verified with SpeakEasy and Speedtest.net) D-Link DGL-4500 Wireless N Router Windows 7x64 - D-Link DWA-552 Wireless-N Windows 7x64 - D-Link DWA-552 Wireless-N Mac Mini 10.6.2 - AirPort Extreme N Playstation 3, Hard Wired Xbox 360, Hard Wired Essentially the problem is very specific. Web browsing and uploading/downloading files from the internet is fine, more than fine. But if I want to say, Stream a video from one of my Windows 7 computers to my PS3, or copy a large video file between either of the PC's or the Mac, I get a consistent 500-900Kbps throughput at the high end. If I open my network browser, or try to browse my homegroup the response time is horrible. Both of my Windows computers are showing Strong wireless signals with a connection speed of 300Mbps. I know I can never expect to achieve anything near those speeds, but 500Kbps? Here is what I have tried so far: Enabled Single mode N-only and N/G Only on router WPA2 with AES Encrpytion Disabled "Remote Differential Compression" in Windows 7 Disabled TCP "Auto-Tuning" Used other software for file copies such as "Teracopy" I am at the end of my rope. Unfortunately I live in a 75 year old home with plaster walls, so hard-wiring my entire house isn't really an option I can handle right now. Any ideas to help me get decent speed when transferring files across my network would be greatly appreciated.

• Can't upgrade NVIDIA GeForce 310M display driver on Acer Aspire 5745PG

  I've been for days already trying to update my video driver. I have an Acer Aspire 5745PG with a "NVIDIA GeForce 310M" board, and I was trying to run Sony Vegas video editor with Boris Continunn plugins. It happened that some of the plugins, like BCC Text Extrude wouldn't work, showing the message "Insufficient depth resolution to run Blue". I then read somewhere that updating the display driver would do the trick. That was when my nightmares started, I lost already good 3 nights trying to sort this out, without success :( The display driver that was before (and that I current have after restoring) was the version 8.16.11.8997. First thing I tried was downloading the 8.17.12.6619 driver directly from Acer, which was shown as the latest version from Acer website: http://support.acer.com/product/default.aspx?modelId=2466 Running it would say "Diver Package Failure - Setup failed to read the required Display Driver to be used with this package" I then tried directly the NVIDIA own driver, which the latest was version 296.10: http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/296.10/296.10-notebook-win7-winvista-64bit-international-whql.exe That gave me similar error message :/ So after some researching I found out that some people had the same issue and they had to change the configuration file to allow the installer to recognize this NVIDIA board: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=222904 That topic said to look for the "Device Instance Id" property of the "NVIDIA GeForce 310M" display , which I couldn't find, instead I found the "Hardware Id", which seemed to be the right one. I followed the instructions and changed the inf file first for the Acer installation, and after for the NVIDIA own driver. It actually managed to go ahead with the installation in both instances, but the only thing I got was a black screen, while the computer still apeared to be running fine. I had to hard reset, and then it would come back with generic vga driver. I could only get my display back using the recovery function. I imagine thousands of this notebook was sold, and it can't have its driver updated?? Could someone help me with this?? Thanks Echo

• Avoid "privacy pitfalls" in Windows and Linux?

  I have a Windows and a Linux machine. In Windows, everytime I visit a site, a lot of cache/history files are created on my machine. I setup my Firefox to don't save anything. ...but Windows saves a lot of "temp" files, some strange files I opened in registry (like video names). Each video I open in VLC is shown in "Last shown videos". In windows, all files opened can be found at "Recent opened files" as well. A lot of these privacy configurations can be tweaked (VLC and "Recent opened files" in Windows) - it's a PITA doing it individually, but it's possible - but there isn't a guide to these "internal" privacy traces that are left on Windows installation. In Linux, I just know there are these problems in app level (like VLC). My question is: is there a complete guide to avoid undesirable traces of what I did/watch/used in my Windows machine? (Delete everytime the PC is restarted, or even avoiding recording these info at all) Is there a website with configuration guides to different types of software? I would like to know about Linux privacy pitfalls as well.

• How important is dual-gigabit lan for a super user's home NAS?

  Long story short: I'm building my own home server based on Ubuntu with 4 drives in RAID 10. Its primary purpose will be NAS and backup. Would I be making a terrible mistake by building a NAS Server with a single Gigabit NIC? Long story long: I know the absolute max I can get out of a single Gigabit port is 125MB/s, and I want this NAS to be able to handle up to 6 computers accessing files simultaneously, with up to two of them streaming video. With Ubuntu NIC-bonding and the performance of RAID 10, I can theoretically double my throughput and achieve 250MB/s (ok, not really, but it would be faster). The drives have an average read throughput of 83.87MB/s according to Tom's Hardware. The unit itself will be based on the Chenbro ES34069-BK-180 case. With my current hardware choices, it'll have this motherboard with a Core i3 CPU and 8GB of RAM. Overkill, I know, but this server will be doing other things as well (like transcoding video). Unfortunately, the only Mini-ITX boards I can find with dual-gigabit and 6 SATA ports are Intel Atom-based, and I need more processing power than an Atom has to offer. I would love to find a board with 6 SATA ports and two Gigabit LAN ports that supports a Core i3 CPU. So far, my search has come up empty. Thus, my dilemma. Should I hold out for such a board, go with an Atom-based solution, or stick with my current single-gigabit configuration? I know there are consumer NAS units with just one gigabit interface (probably most of them), but I think I will demand a lot more from my server than the average home user. Any advice is appreciated. • Daisy-chainable DisplayPort Monitors

  I am the proud new owner of a MacBook Pro with a mini-DisplayPort. My desk setup used to allow me to position the screen of my old MacBook beside an external monitor, essentially allowing dual-head. It was also advantageous that my old MBP and my external monitor had the same resolution, 1440x900. Now, I'm searching for a set of two monitors that I can use a HengeDock with. Unfortunately, the MacBook Pro suffers from having only one mini-DisplayPort. Looking up the spec for DisplayPort 1.2 (which the MBP supports), DisplayPort daisy chaining is supported. What I'm looking for is a monitor that has two DisplayPorts so I can daisy chain two monitors off the single mini-DisplayPort. What I don't want is a USB-based video solution. I need full acceleration on both monitors; an external video card won't cut it. I hope I don't have to wait a few years for these monitors to come out. TL;DR: I need two monitors with two DisplayPorts each that I can daisy-chain. Thanks!

• Laptop Most Likely to Have Good Driver Support

  Through numerous bad experiences, I have learned that the most likely cause of laptop "failure" is the lack of updated drivers for new operating systems. As an example, I have a perfectly good Thinkpad T42 at home which runs Windows 7 just fine for my purposes except that no compatible ATI video drivers are available, and the generic drivers have flicker effects. I recently saw an ASUS laptop which looked quite nice except that I would be beholden to them to release ATI video driver updates customized for it. And, I can't trust them to do that for more than six months. What laptops (manufacturer/line) should I consider so that I could expect at least a couple years of frequent updates? I plan on running Windows 7 and installing whatever successor comes out. I like Intel components (especially WiFi) because I can install their drivers directly from them, and they have a long history of providing updates for years after shipping a particular component. More generally, components from companies which are likely to update drivers frequently are good as long as I can install the component manufacturer-provided drivers without laptop-specific customization (like the ATI drivers). Also, if a component can be replaced easily, I am less concerned. For example, Dell stopped pumping out updated drivers for one of its mini-PCI WiFi cards. The solution was to buy an Intel replacement on eBay for $12! That's fine. I can deal with that. So, what laptops should I consider so that I'm not likely to be stuck between a rock and a hard place?

  I have three SyncMaster 932a monitors I want to use with two Radeon X1600/X1650 cards under Linux. I am running X.org X Server 1.6.0, as provided by Ubuntu's Wubi installer. I also tried adding Option "Xinerama" "true" to the ServerLayout section. X11 wasn't able to start up. I want to: Allow moving windows along all three monitors. Maximizing only fills the current monitor. Either have menu/task bars on only the left monitor or all three monitors How can I make this possible?

• Windows 7 - media sharing extremely flakey (XBox 360)

  I have constant headaches with Windows Media Library sharing, which I'm using to share my video library (a whole lot of AVI files on my computer's hard drive) with the XBox 360. I have the whole setup working, so setup and basic configuration is not an issue. The issue is that Windows Media Library frequently fails to notice additions and modifications to the "watched" folders. Not only that, but often after I've added something new to the library, it fails to transmit this new library information to the 360, as is demonstrated by the fact that, using that 360, I navigate to my video library and the new folders don't show up in the list. Often the only way to get the 360 to see the changes is to exit out of "Videos" on the 360, then remove all videos from Windows Media Library, go back into videos on the 360 to confirm that nothing is shared, then re-add a few videos (but not too many) in Windows Media Library, then go back into the videos in the 360. The whole thing is a real pain in the bum and I really wish I could just add all my videos to Windows Media Library and have it keep watch without me having to kick it, and have the 360 pick up changes without me having to constantly rebuild the library. Any ideas?

• Netflix streaming stops loading at 98% on Revo 3700

  I'm trying to stream Netflix on an Acer Revo 3700 running Windows 7 Home Premium, but it hangs on the loading screen at 98% (after it has formatted the player to the right aspect ratio and added the controls, but before the video starts) with no error messages or failures. I have two other machines on the same network, one running Windows 7 Home Premium and another running XP, which both stream faultlessly. Things I have tried: Both a wired and wireless connection to the router Upgrading the video and audio drivers IE, Chrome and Firefox Boxee software Connecting with a VGA cable instead of HDMI (in case it is a HDCP thing) Uninstalling and reinstalling Silverlight. Getting someway into loading a HD movie and turning "Allow HD" off Does anyone know what Netflix is doing at the 98% load mark? Are there any log files? Anything else worth trying? Full disclosure: I'm using Netflix from the UK through a US based VPN. I've tried multiple VPNs and the problem is exactly the same, also the other machines on the same network through the same VPN work fine so I don't think this is the issue, but it might be a factor. The region check happens at around 7% and I get past that.

• Apache permission Problems

  Ok all my files and folders are set as owner of vsftpd:nogroup. FTP program can upload and create and do everything. But when I use the PHP command mkdir, I get a Permission Denied even though the folder its creating it in is set to chmod 777. IF i set the base folder to user www-data and group www-data, PHP mkdir will work. However, I can't use FTP to delete or upload to that folder. /uploads is base folder. I use PHP mkdir to create a directory in there: if (!is_dir($_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'] . "/uploads/" . $_REQUEST['clientID'] . '/video/')) { @mkdir($_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'] . "/uploads/" . $_REQUEST['clientID'] . '/video/', 0777); } If /uploads is vsftpd:nogroup then PHP mkdir will give a Permission Denied error. If /uploads is www-data:www-data then PHP mkdir WILL work, but I cant continue to FTP anything in that folder that was just created. If /uploads is vsftpd:www-data then PHP mkdir will give a Permission Denied error. How can I create a directory with PHP and still be able to access it via FTP?

But if I want to say, Stream a video from one of my Windows 7 computers to my PS3, or copy a large video file between either of the PC's or the Mac, I get a consistent 500-900Kbps throughput at the high end. If I open my network browser, or try to browse my homegroup the response time is horrible. Both of my Windows computers are showing Strong wireless signals with a connection speed of 300Mbps. I know I can never expect to achieve anything near those speeds, but 500Kbps? Here is what I have tried so far: Enabled Single mode N-only and N/G Only on router WPA2 with AES Encrpytion Disabled "Remote Differential Compression" in Windows 7 Disabled TCP "Auto-Tuning" Used other software for file copies such as "Teracopy" I am at the end of my rope. Unfortunately I live in a 75 year old home with plaster walls, so hard-wiring my entire house isn't really an option I can handle right now. Any ideas to help me get decent speed when transferring files across my network would be greatly appreciated.

• Web Hosting: Any web host that supports files more than 50,000 in number?

  Hi all, For my PHP & mySQL based application, I am trying to buy website hosting from a host who does not have a limit on the number of files I carry in my hosting account. Almost all the websites have a common limit of 50,000 files (some websites call it 50,000 nodes). The rest(to the extent of my search) are not even close. I have gone through the various websites, Googled lot of information, have spoken with the customer service of the hosting companies and they said that they have a limit of 50,000 files and that's why they call it the LIMIT. Now I have my application, which is a kind of social networking website, where people can upload various files of varying file size. So say if 50,000 users were to join the website and upload 1 file each, the limit of 50,000 will be reached very easily and my 50,001 customer will start facing file upload problems (& so will my account). So I would like to know if there's any website hosting services that do NOT levy such restrictions. In summary, I need the following options: No maximum file limit (more than 50,000 files in account). No maximum file upload limit in server setting (10MB, 12MB, 15MB, 20MB, etc.). Ability to upload files of various types (zip, flv, jg, png, etc.). Ability to stream Audio and Video (live audio & video not necessary). Access to .htaccess Access to php.ini, my.cnf or my.ini (this would be a plus) Supports SSL. Provides dedicated hosting(& IP) as well. Monthly payments without contracts are a plus. • Hardware issue, bsod with windows xp irq and strange messages with ubuntu

  I have an old Acer T160 and it used to run Windows XP. But I keep getting random BSOD's. I keep seeing IRQ conflicts. I tried to run ubuntu, which runs and keeps running. But sometimes is not responding. Also there are these popups at ubuntu 12.04 that my network cable (which is onboard) is unplugged. But I have no cable in it! and have an usb dongle for wifi. which also seems unstable. have to (auto)reconnect sometimes. So my question is: is it my mobo, power supply or something else? FYI: I had an dvd-rw station which did not open properly, so unplugged the ata and power, als removed the second harddrive. now only have sata harddrive. also removed the extra video card (ati sapphire x1600 pro) so use only onboard video now and still have these issues. EDIT Update: will try with a new PSU (power supply unit of 400watt) the old (factory) one was 300watt. and will use a usb drive which has 12.04 ubuntu on it (made with unetbootin) to format everything and re-install ubuntu. (so also delete mbr partition) will update the day after tomorrow.

• Ubuntu xrandr rotate issue

  I've just bought a second monitor for my PC which happens to be a pivot monitor. I've already read lots of forums related to my problem but haven't come across a solution - I have the same symptoms as dozens of posts but no matter whatever I try it just doesn't work. I've already changed the xorg.conf file and added in the device section just under Driver "nvidia" the following for my second monitor: Option "RandRRotation" "on" When I save and reboot I try to rotate my screen with the nvidia X server settings by choosing the second monitor and clicking either "left" or "right" for the rotation. It immediately exits the nvidia settings window and does nothing. I tried within the terminal by typing: xrandr -o right I get the following error: X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes) Major opcode of failed request: 154 (RANDR) Minor opcode of failed request: 2 (RRSetScreenConfig) Serial number of failed request: 14 Current serial number in output stream: 14 I actually manage to rotate it with Option "Rotate" "CCW" instead of "RandRRotation". The problem with this solution is that you get the second monitor in the right position, but any window you open on that screen is practically unchangeable. You can't change the size nor move it, making it useless for reading PDFs, which is the main reason why I bought this second screen to help me write my thesis. • How can I remedy the always-on-top window problem?

  Sorry for the vague title but this one is hard to explain so bear with me please. I'm using Windows Vista at work for web development and sometimes when I Click or Alt-Tab to background window, the window will get focus but it will not be brought to the front. In order to bring the window to the front, I have to click on the applications border (when the resize cursor appears) and the window will then jump to the front. I've had this problem for about a year now and it happens at least a dozen times a day, but it doesn't do this all the time - seems random. I hope I have explained the issue fully (and you've understood it) and would appreciate any constructive answers or comments to solve this problem. Example: If I Alt-Tab from Google Chrome to Notepad and this problem randomly occurs, Google Chrome will remain in front of Notepad, however, I will be able to type text into Notepad while the window is behind Google Chrome. Clicking on Notepad's content area will not bring it to the front but clicking it's window border will. I'm starting to believe that this could be a bug in Google Chrome so I'll continue to watch if this between other applications.

• Terminal emulation has stopped working. Garbage escape chars

  To enable me to do some remote administration of our servers I started using a terminal emulation program called TouchTerm Pro on my iPhone. While not the smoothest experience, it has allowed me to leave my computer behind when going out of town, which makes the slightly painful experience worthwhile. As of late, the app unfortunately no longer works. Pressing up and down keys after logging on via ssh gives me garbage like ^[[A and ^[[B. Combinations with Ctrl - like you can see in the video - no longer works either. Writing full command lines and executing by the enter key works though. Being able to search my bash history was the difference between a usable app and endless frustration, so getting it to work is essential. The app has (of course) met its end of life, not getting updated anymore. I am not quite sure, which side (client or server) that has to be "fixed"/hacked to make the control sequences work again. But is there something I can do to make it work as intended? You can see a video of TouchTerm in operation here.

• fglrx-legacy-driver not seeing Radeon HD 4650 AGP

  I am running Debian Squeeze on an old Dell Dimension 8300 box. It has an AGP Radeon HD 4650 card. I use this machine to mine bitcoins, and today I noticed that the machine had rebooted! My precious uptime! Anyway, my miner wouldn't start, so I figured might as well update my graphics driver, maybe that would fix the issue. I went to amd.com and downloaded the newest driver (12.6 legacy), but after installing it, aticonfig gave an error: aticonfig: No supported adapters detected I uninstalled the driver and figured I'd try to install it from apt. AMD has dropped support for the HD 4000 series in fglrx, forcing me to use fglrx-legacy-driver (currently only in experimental). In order to install this, I had to update libc6 (and some other important packages, like gcc), I had to use their wheezy versions. I finally got fglrx-legacy-driver installed, but I still got: aticonfig: No supported adapters detected Why isn't the driver finding my video card? I have a hunch it has something to do with the fact that it's an AGP video card. Thing is, since I am on kernel 3.2, I need to apply this patch to common/lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod/firegl_public.c. I thought ATI dropped support for the 4xxx series after 12.4. Why doesn't 12.6 legacy work?

• Weird rendering artefact in vim (terminal, not MacVim)

  Running Mac OS X, using either Terminal.app or iTerm2, there is a strange artefact with the character rendering that I have a hard time explaining and an even harder time understanding. I'll start with a video of my screen so that you can see and example of it in action: From the video you can see a few ways it is weird, for example, sometimes when I hit a letter in insert mode, the character is double printed. When I go into normal mode, the artefact remains. When I re-enter insert mode, hitting backspace copies the characters on the left to the position under the cursor. This has happened in OS X Lion, and Mountain Lion, under both Terminal.app and iTerm 2. This never happens under MacVim. Also, I use GNU/Linux on my other machine, and have never had this happen, I am pretty sure it is strictly a Mac OS X issue, but I do not know how to fix it. For a while, I've been working around it by using MacVim most of the time, but I prefer working in a terminal. Does anyone know what is happening here, and if so, how can I fix it? EDIT: I tried using the macvim Vim executable, and I still get strange artefacts, but they are localized to the left side of the screen, here is an example:
