    Can anybody tell me how to persist long text using JPA (I use PostgreSQL)? Here's the way I defined a very long string in my class: @Lob private String body; However, this produces a field of type charactervarying(255) in the database. Furthermore, I've tried to use @Column annotation: @Column(columnDefinition="TEXT") private String body; But everything in vain. I would be gratefull for a helpfull comment on this problem.

  • Is Lightweight Code Generation (LCG) dead?

    In the .NET 2.0-3.5 frameworks, LCG (aka the DynamicMethod class) was a decent way to emit lightweight methods at runtime when no class structure was needed to support them. In .NET 4.0, expression trees now support statements and blocks, and as such appear to provide sufficient functionality to build just about any functionality you could require from such a method, and can be constructed in a much easier and safer way than directly emitting CIL op-codes. (This statement is borne from today's experimentation of converting some of our most complex LCG code to use expression tree building and compilation instead.) So is there any reason why one would use LCG in any new code? Is there anything it can do that expression trees cannot? Or is it now a 'dead' piece of functionality?

    What is the best way to remove all merge fields from a word 2010 document using openxml sdk 2.0, and replace them with a simple text? I have some difficulties to remove them cleanly. Have tried to remove all Run objects that includes a FieldCode with a "MERGEFIELD" defined, and appended a new Run with my text. But I am missing something crucial since the field seems to stay defined for this element.

    Hi, I just familiarise myself with the CLLocationManager and found several sample class definitions that contain the following init method: - (id) init { self = [super init]; if (self != nil) { self.locationManager = [[[CLLocationManager alloc] init] autorelease]; self.locationManager.delegate = self; } return self; } - (void)dealloc { [self.locationManager release]; [super dealloc]; } I don't understand why the iVar would be autoreleased. Does this not mean it is deallocated at the end of the init method? I am also puzzled to see the same sample codes have the iVar release in the dealloc method. Any thoughts? '

    Hello, is it possible to decorate a field of a LINQ generated class with [Column(IsDbGenerated=true)] using a buddy class (which is linked to the LINQ class via [MetadataType(typeof(BuddyMetadata))]) ? My goal is to be able to clear and repopulate the LINQ ORM designer without having to set the "Auto Generate Value" property manually every time to re-establish the fact that certain columns are autogenerated.     Hey guys, im pretty new to android platform and have a really simple question. Im putting buttons as layouts with text boxes, but im running out of room. How would i make it possible for the user to scroll down to view more buttons and stuff.   • Make a Button Appear Focused When Not

    The Find and Replace dialog in Visual Studio is a perfect example of what im trying to accomplish. Notice how the "Find what" text field has keyboard focus but the "Find Next" button appears bluish as if it has keyboard focus also even though it does not. How can I accomplish this myself? I've tried messing with FocusManager and Focus Scopes without much luck. I suspect i may be barking up the wrong tree? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks

    Hi! I have an optional property of type pfloat, that can either be an encoded numeric value, or -1 if the property is not set. Numerics are encoded to be range searchable (1 is encoded to something like 10000000001), but -1 will always be -1. How can I search a field for -1? property:-1 throws parse error and property:'-1' doesn't return anything. Thanks for help!

If this was just a form with text fields I'd do an AJAX post and respond with a message I'd display in my callback function. I'm just not sure how to accomplish this same task with the hidden iframe method since it is a standard form post.

I have: Category has_many Subcategories Subcategory has_many Products Subcategory belongs_to Category Product belongs_to Subcategory Is there a way to have something like Category has_many Projects through Subcategories ? The 'normal' rails way wouldn't work because "subcategory" doesn't belongs to product so product does not have a subcategory_id field.     I have a few tables with the following relationships: Company hasMany Jobs, Employees, and Trucks, Users I've got all my foreign keys set up properly, along with the tables' Models, Controllers, and Views. Originally, the Jobs table had a boolean field called "assigned". The following find operation (from the JobsController) successfully returns all employees, all trucks, and any jobs that are not assigned and fall on a certain day for a single company (without returning users by utilizing the containable behavior): $this->set('resources', $this->Job->Company->find('first', array( 'conditions' => array( 'Company.id' => $company_id ), 'contain' => array( 'Employee', 'Truck', 'Job' => array( 'conditions' => array( 'Job.assigned' => false, 'Job.pickup_date' => date('Y-m-d', strtotime('Today')); ) ) ) ))); Now, since writing this code, I decided to do a lot more with the job assignments. So I've created a new model "Assignment" that belongsTo Truck and belongsTo Job. I've added the hasMany Assignments to both the Truck model and the Jobs Model. I have both foreign keys in the assignments table, along with some other assignment fields. Now, I'm trying to get the same information above, only instead of checking the assigned field from the job table, I want to check the assignments table to ensure that the job does not exist there. I can no longer use the containable behavior if I'm going to use the "joins" feature of the find method due to mysql errors (according to the cookbook).   • excel turning my numbers to floats

    Hello, i have a bit of asp.net code that exports data in a datagrid into excel but i noticed that it messes up a particular field when exporting. eg .. i have the value of something like 89234010000725515875 in a column in the datagrid but when exported, it turns it into 89234+19. Is there any excel formatting that will bring back my original number? thanks
