    Hi, I would like to key in my nirc number eg.S1234567I and then put 1234567 individualy as a integer as indiv1 as charAt(1), indiv2 as charAt(2), indiv as charAt(3), etc. However, when I do as the codes below, I cant seem to get even the first the number out?     Hi all, I would like to display priority information in a drop down. Currently i am using a integer field to store the priority, but i would like to display high/medium/low instead of letting user type in a priority. A way to approximate this is to use a Priority database which stores 3 elements, 1:high, 2:medium, 3:low, but it seems like an overkill. Any easier way would be much appreciated! Jason

    I have Article table: id | type | date ----------------------- 1 | A | 2010-01-01 2 | A | 2010-01-01 3 | B | 2010-01-01 Field type can be A, B or C. I need to run a report that would return how many articles of each type there is per every day, like this: date | count(type="A") | count(type="B") | count(type="C") ----------------------------------------------------- 2010-01-01 | 2 | 1 | 0 2010-01-02 | 5 | 6 | 7 Currently I am running 3 queries for every type and then manually merging the results select date, count(id) from article where type="A" group by date Is it possible to do this in one query? (in pure sql, no stored procedures or anything like that). Thanks

  • How to make an id auto_increment from where it last left off after a record delete?

    This isn't that big of a deal but I was wondering if it can be done. Right now when I insert a new record, the id field which is auto_increment and set as primary key increases it's value by one: id | first_name | last_name ------------------------------ 1 | John | Smith 2 | Jane | Doe But if I delete record 2, the next one I insert is going to have an id of 3. Is there any way to make it have an id of 2 automatically (without having to manually insert it)?

ID Recipient Date Status 1 [email protected] 01/01/2010 1 2 [email protected] 02/01/2010 1 3 [email protected] 01/01/2010 1 4 [email protected] 02/01/2010 2 5 [email protected] 03/01/2010 1 6 [email protected] 01/01/2010 1 7 [email protected] 02/01/2010 2 In this example: all emails sent to someone have a status of 1 the middle email (by date) sent to them has a status of 2, but the latest is 1 the last email sent to others has a status of 2 What I need to retrieve is a count of all emails sent to each person, and what the latest status code was. The first part is fairly simple: SELECT Recipient, Count(*) EmailCount FROM Messages GROUP BY Recipient ORDER BY Recipient Which gives me: Recipient EmailCount [email protected] 2 [email protected] 3 [email protected] 2 How can I get the most recent status code too? The end result should be: Recipient EmailCount LastStatus [email protected] 2 1 [email protected] 3 1 [email protected] 2 2 Thanks.
