• Saslauth with ldapdb on debian

  Attempting to implement client authentication with an SSL cert. http://www.modssl.org/docs/2.8/ssl_howto.html#auth-selective Receive the following errors. Apache: Re-negotiation handshake failed: Not accepted by client!? Firefox: ssl_error_handshake_failure_alert I assume it is a configuration error, but have not been able to locate it. Additional info: Commercial CA server cert servers secure works without problem in Apache 2.2 & Passenger. Only client authentication related directives do not work.

  I have troubles installing VC runtime libraries to be able to install SQL Server Compact Edition. The same problem causes also other apps to fail when installing, but I chose this one as a good representative example of my problem (and also it's provided by Microsoft, so "installation should work"). • Installing trunk Mono on Ubuntu

  I am quite new to linux. I have to install Mono on a linux machine from souce code. I know the general method: read-instructions, install-dependencies, ./configure, make, make install. However this approach doesn't fit into the general Ubuntu package management routine. Other programs I install from .debs won't be able to notice the version of Mono. Also I can't remove Mono using standard Ubuntu package management tools. Is there an easy solution? I have seen that Ubuntu actually has several separate packages for the Mono project. Should I build packages from Mono? How can I follow the same conventions as the ubuntu packagers? Where should I look for info on packaging? Can you give step by step instructions? Thanks!

• NIC Teaming HP Server running Win2003

  Hello everyone. I'm new to server NIC TEaming. I have a HP ProLiant DL360 G4p running Win2003 with 2 NICs , only one is currently active. I'd like to activate the 2nd NIC connected (in a active/passive state) to a 2nd switch with only one IP address and ideally only one mac layer address. The 1st switch is a Cisco 2960G and the 2nd is a Cisco C3560G. There are VLANS, RSTP and PAGP in use already. Can someone give me an idea, in broad terms , of what technology/protocols I should be investigating (HSRP, SLB/TLB Teaming etc.) ? I can provide more info if needed. Thanks, Colm.

• I need to get VMWare Server running inside of a VMWare ESXi virtual machine

  Yes, I know running a virtual machine inside of a virtual machine is a bad idea. Yes, I know it will be very slow. However, our production system required VMs in VMWare server and I do not want to setup a real server for each of our developers for testing. I would like to be able to setup all of the VMWare servers (that mimic our production environment) on one ESXi server. I have found as much info as I can about this topic and I have tried what was suggested here and here. I have not been able to get any of these suggestions to work, I still get the VM cannot run inside of a VM error. If there are any other suggestions that anybody else have that would be great thanks.

  I'm trying to setup an Asterisk system that will allow me to create a conference call between two dynamic numbers. It seems I can use 'call files' to make Asterisk initiate the call without needing an incoming call - http://www.voip-info.org/tiki-index.php?page=Asterisk+auto-dial+out This example seems to be what I'd need: Channel: SIP/mytrunk/12345678 MaxRetries: 2 RetryTime: 60 WaitTime: 30 Context: callme Extension: 800 Priority: 2 I can generate this file with some scripting language and then place it into the Asterisk Call File folder. The problem I'm having is: How do I call out to two numbers and join them in a conference call? The MeetMe plugin/extension seems to be what I need in terms of conference calling, I'm just unsure as to how I'd use the two together and join them. Also, is it possible to have multiple 2-person conference calls at the same time? Is setting this up as simple as setting aside X amount of 'channels' in the meetme.conf?

• Sonicwall SSL VPN: Unable to reconnect once connection drops

  One of my users is having problems with his NetExtender connection. After installing NetExtender from the portal, it connects fine -- ONCE. After that, attempting to reconnect gives Verifying user...authentication fail! and the log on the router shows: [timestamp] | Info | SSLVPN | Auth Failed: No user name in http request (message id: 1079) This seems odd to me because the user name, password and domain are entered on the NetExtender client. After this error occurs, the only way to connect again is to uninstall, reboot, and reinstall NetExtender. He can connect fine to the Sonicwall SSLVPN demo site, and a different user can connect fine to this site from a different PC. Any clues?

  How do I bypass the security warning in the RDP Client everytime you launch it from a RDP shortcut? The message title reads: "The publisher of this remote connection cannot be identified. Do you want to connect anyway?" There's a checkbox that reads: "Don't ask me again for connections to this computer" If we check that, it rights the following registry key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Terminal Server Client\LocalDevices] "MachineIP or Name"=dword:00000004 I'm trying to bypass this warning by writing this registry values before I run the RDP. The problem is that the dword value varies. I found that in one machine (Win7), it was 4, but in another machine (XP), the value was 72 decimal. Does it vary depending on your OS, or is it by the RDP client version? Other info: Signing all my RDP files is NOT an option. Checking the checkbox is NOT an option as we are trying to automate some stuff with a C# tool. Thank you

  Hello, I'm getting following error when using Hibernate in a Java application over my DB2 database. This error occurs with one DB2 database and not with another (I'm almost sure the problem is in DB2 server side configuration), and I didn't found the difference between the two databases. • How can I find the Windows domain logon name of a user from within Outlook 2010?

  I need to figure out someone's login name for our domain, and I'd like to be able to do this from within Outlook 2010. I used to be able to do this from Outlook 2007 by right-clicking the user's name in an email message that they'd sent me, and clicking "Outlook Properties..." in the context menu. That would bring up this dialog, which contained what I need in the "alias" field: Now I've installed Outlook 2010. I want to do the same thing, but I can't seem to find a corresponding field. First, I don't see an explicit "Outlook Properties" menu option anymore, and what I think is the corresponding dialog looks completely different: It seems weird that, although I'm looking at the properties of my own name in the same email message in 2007 and 2010 in these screenshots, my name is shown differently in each -- Chris versus Christopher. That makes me think that Outlook isn't really looking in the same place to get this info in each case. So, can I get that "alias" field from within Outlook 2010?

• What's required for a nameserver to be registered?

  I'm trying to change nameservers for some of my domains at GoDaddy, but I occasionally run into "Nameserver not registered" problems, and then I'm not allowed to set the nameservers. Here are the cases I've tried, and I still don't understand what it takes to have a registered nameserver. With ns1 and ns2 pointing to my nameservers, I can set the nameservers successfully when I set up domains as follows: Host Summary entries for ns1 and ns2 at GoDaddy .co.cc domains with A records for ONLY ns1 and ns2 Hosted with other nameservers. Have only A records for ns1 and ns2 But these do NOT work (nameserver not registered error): .info domains at GoDaddy with A records for ONLY ns1 and ns2 Hosts with dyndns.org that point to IP of nameservers Also, when I dig any domains hosted at my nameservers using any of the above, I get the correct response. So what's the deal here? Why do the last two cases get "nameserver not registered errors"? Thanks!

• Upgrade OpenSSL 0.9.8k to OpenSSL 1.0.1c on Ubuntu 10.04

  We're currently using Ubuntu 10.04 and based on the PCI Compliance results, we're told to upgrade our OpenSSL. I attempted to do this using this reference: http://sandilands.info/sgordon/upgrade-latest-version-openssl-on-ubuntu and http://www.lunarforums.com/dedicated_web_hosting_at_lunarpages/upgrading_openssl-t35015.0.html Unfortunately, they didn't work for me. And when I attempted to remove the old version prior to installation, it looks like it broke a few thins in the system. The article from Steve Gordon seemed like it would work for me, but when I ran the openssl version command, it still read that it was the old version. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what I should do. Fix: After following the steps from Steven Gordon, make sure you restart apache and / or restart your computer (I did both, but I'm sure a simple restart will fix it right up).

• Windows Cannot Boot - 0xc0000225

  I've had Windows 7 installed for months on my Thinkpad T60 laptop and today out of the blue when I tried to boot, it started the Windows loading screen and immediately I got this error: Status: 0xc0000225 Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible. Through some research, I see people get this problem when a repartitioning goes wrong or there's a problem with their dual boot. I'm not dual booting my machine and I haven't messed with my partitions since I installed the OS. This error is truly out of the blue. I've run memory diagnostics from a Windows boot disc and hard drive diagnostics from my BIOS and neither found a problem. I don't have any backups to restore from so I'm hoping to find a fix for this. Anyone seen this kind of thing before? Thanks

  I can’t start MySQL on Ubuntu 12.04 after restored backup from innobackupex. Before I tried to restore the db from backup I moved the datadir and got the same problem. With help from google I fixed the problem and got MySQL started. Ready to set up my new slave, I restored the backup via innobackupex –-copy-path /db/mysql, and now I can’t start MySQL. I am sure of the following: In my.cnf the datadir = /db/mysql The new datadir is chown mysql:mysql. The /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.mysqld contains: #/var/lib/mysql/ r, #/var/lib/mysql/** rwk, /db/mysql r, /db/mysql** rwk, AND /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid w, /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock w, /run/mysqld/mysqld.pid w, /run/mysqld/mysqld.sock w, /var/log/syslog gives me the following info: http://pastebin.com/1TQGsaBH What am I missing?   Question: What steps can I take to make a touchpad that once worked, work again. Info: I'm running ubuntu desktop on my net book. it has been working more or less fine. There have been some minor issues. but nothing to bad. recently I was messing around with burning a mandriva .iso, and suddenly my touch pad just stops working. every now and then it will work for a brief moment after I bring back from sleep mode. The computer says that there is a touch pad and that it is active. any tips?

  I need to create a working test environment of a domain we have. I need to have all the data from the production environment in the test environment. What is the best way to go about doing this? Here are some ideas I have but I am not sure if there is a better/recommended way of doing this. Use Vmware converter to create a VM of one of the production DCs create a VM and promo it on the real domain and move the vm to my test environment. use some kind of backup utility to backup the domain info and restore it to my vm I created.   I am putting a new motherboard in a chenbro chasis and I dont get how to plugin the wires for powerSW resetSW, etc. It is a SuperMicro P4DP6 motherboard. ** I cant post an image yet, but here is a long to the spot on the mobo where this goes: http://andrewslack.info/mobo.png The powerSW lead is a green and white wire. I have the wire for PowerSW in place as the white wire ground and I have tried the reverse even (green to ground). The wire is covering Pin 1 and 2 in the diagram And I press the power button on the machine and nothing happens. It worked before I replaced the motherboard, the 24-pin ATX power leas is connected as well as the 2dn 6-pin optional power. Thoughts?

• Resolving System Restore error - Error 0x800423F3 - The writer experienced a transient error

  System restore just stopped working, when I needed it most. (tried diff restore points... same error). Now everytime I run system-restore, it fails with the above error message. I cleared the event logs and retried to isolate the relevant events. I see 5 warnings and 1 info event from VSS and 1 error from System Restore. • windows 7 start menu's search "see more results" broken

  After searching in my start menu and clicking to "see more results", I got an error dialog: It "seems" that it should be search-ms:query=document an not search:query=document but where can I fix this? Additional info: New user account don't have the problem. Windows 7 Ultimate - RTM Disabling/Enabling again "Windows Search" (in Start Control Panel Programs Turn Windows Features on or off) doesn't fix it. (There's a HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Search in my registry that's not there normally.) - outdated see comments... • Sony Vaio Hard Drive replacement won't boot

  I'm working on a Sony Vaio VGN-CR120e. I've cloned the original SATA 1.5 drive with Norton Ghost on to 2 new hard drives, the second of which is a Seagate 7200.4 320Gb 7200 RPM, with the jumper set to limit to SATA 1.5. (The first drive is a WD Scorpio Black 320Gb 7200RMP, which has no SATA 1.5 override support). Neither of the cloned drives will boot - I immediately get a BlackSOD saying: "Windows failed to start blah blah blah" "File \Windows\system32\winload.exe" "Status: 0xc000000e" "Info: The selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt." I've done this hundreds of times on other PC's, and this is the first time I've encountered such an error. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice on how to proceeed, as I would rather not reinstall Vista unless absolutely necessary.

• setup Zyxel USG 20W as L2TP VPN Server

  I've a Zywall USG 20W (wireless disabled) behind a router supplied by the ISP. All ports (both TCP and UDP) on the ISP router are forwarded to the 20W. I'm trying to configure an L2TP VPN to be used by Windows Xp / 7 with Microsoft native client. This was working before with a different firewall, so I'm pretty sure that all the required packets are flowing to the 20W. I followed a tutorial from the italian Zyxel Website, but I cannot get the VPN to work. Always cannot pass phase 2, and I see the following on the log: [ID]: Tunnel [Default_L2TP_VPN_Connection] Phase 2 local policy mismatch Phase 1 goes fine. In Windows the error is always 788. This happens regardless the proposals I set in the phase 1 and 2 setting. What should I check ? Is there any way to get more detailed diagnostic info (policy mismatch is too generic) ?   We have active directory syncronization setup between our on-premises AD server and Microsoft hosted Exchange (business productivity online services). I've started getting a daily error report, which details an error for a specific AD user, however it references it by GUID. I can't find any info on how to translate that object guid into something meaningful so I can find and fix the problem. The error is reported as: Error 005: Unable to set the alias for this object in Microsoft Online Services because either the primary SMTP address, the e-mail nickname, or the SAM account name in the local Active Directory contains an invalid character. in reference to the Object GUID: CN={8443cbb4-5199-49f0-9529-ce965430dca6} How can I translate that object guid into a friendly object name?

• SSRS 2008 & MOSS 2007 Alternate Access Mapping Problem

  I have a MOSS Server with SSRS 2008 Ent Ed configured in Sharepoint Integrated mode. It all works well as http://servername:88/ on the default host header. MOSS works fine using the external host name too on the intranet AAM field (http://site.domain.com/) however SSRS fails on the same url with the message: An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server. Verify that the report server is available and configured for SharePoint integrated mode. I think the issue is further complicated by our Windows 2008 infrastructure in which we've never been able to get SPN's working for Kerberos. SQL Server however, is on the same machine so I dont think it is a kerberos double hop issue. Extra info MOSS/SSRS are on a VM running Windows 2003 R2 VM is hosted on Win2008 HyperV DC is on Windows 2008 SBS
