  • How to generate correlated binary variables

    - by jonalm
Dear All I need to generate a series of N random binary variables with a given correlation function. Let x = {x_i} be a series of binary variables (taking the value 0 or 1, i running form 1 to N). The marginal probability is given Pr(x_i = 1) = p, and the values should be correlated in the following way E[ x_i x_j ] = const * |i-j|^-alfa where alfa is a positive number. Is it possible to generate a series like this? preferably in python.

  • In FitNesse, can variables be defined in terms of other variables?

    - by Dan Haywood
In FitNesse, can variables be defined in terms of other variables? I want to do the equivalent of: int a=3; int b=a; To make this concrete, I have a variable defining the date: !define clock.date {2/2/2009} I then want to define some other variable ${other.date} based on it, something like: !define other.date {=${clock.date}=} However, this doesn't work. Is there any way to do this?

  • aggregate over several variables in r

    - by Misha
Dear overflowers, I have a rather large dataset in a long format where I need to count the number of instances of the ID due to two different variables, A & B. E.g. The same person can be represented in multiple rows due to either A or B. What I need to do is to count the number of instances of ID which is not too hard, but also count the number of ID due to A and B and return these as variables in the dataset. Regards, //Mi

  • Question regarding the method local innerclasses accesing the local variables of the method

    - by flash
Hi I was going through the SCJP book about the innerclasses, and found this statement, it goes something like this. "A method local class can only refer to the local variables which are marked final" and in the explanation the reason specified is about the scope and lifetime of the local class object and the local variables on the heap, But I am unable to understand that.am I missing anything here about 'final'??

  • [Smarty] Looking for variables which aren't assigned.

    - by Kel
What could happen if my template looks for variables which weren't assigned? For example: var uwfs_id = '{$tpl_uwfs_id}'; This snippet is from my javascript code. I outputted the value and it is simply empty. I know I could use isset(). But I couldn't find anything about how Smarty handles non-existing variables. So, what happens if template can't find a variable, because it wasn't assigned?

  • Dynamically Insert Variables into DB Table using PreparedStatement

    - by gran_profaci
I was working with PreparedStatement today and noticed that it used setString() setTimestamp() etc. to insert variables into the DB. I basically have 20 tables each with at least 15 columns and it would not be feasible for me to manuallt write down all the setters. Considering that I have an ArrayList "Vals" which contains all the variables to be inputted in String format (obtained by getString() using PreparedStatement itself), is there any way I can do an insert without using expressly using the Setters? That would save me a lot of time.

  • Pass PHP variables without being seen when working with a database generated list

    - by Wilcoholic
Looking for any help regarding the problem. Here's the deal: I have a database that has a teams table and it contains team_id. On one of my pages, I generate a list of links that contain the team_id of the creator in their get URL. I need the team_id on the next page but can't figure out how to pass it through any other way. Using a form and POST isn't an option because this method would only pass through the last links data on the list. Storing in a session isn't an option either because there is no way to discretely pass the the variables I need to a function to set the session variables. I have tried and it can pretty easily be viewed from viewing the source code. So here's some sample code to see exactly what I'm dealing with. <? if(mysql_num_rows($result2)>0){ ?> <a class="fltrt btn btn-danger btn-small" onclick="test()" href="acceptmatch-exec.php?match_id=<?php echo $match_id; ?>&team_id=<?php echo $team_id;?>&action=cancel">Cancel Match</a> <?}else{?> <a class="fltrt btn btn-success btn-small" href="acceptmatch-exec.php?match_id=<?php echo $match_id; ?>&team_id=<?php echo $team_id;?>&action=accept">Accept Match</a> <?} ?> The code above is generated multiple times on a page via a while loop that was excluded. I want to pass the match_id and team_id variables without being seen anywhere. If I made this a form, it wouldn't pass the correct variables unless there is only one result at the time (not likely). I'm sure there has to be an easy method that is eluding me, so please share thoughts on how to solve this. I feel as though I am not explaining it well enough, but it's not really easy to explain. I basically want something that works like GET but acts like POST and can be hidden from people viewing source code or link locations. Thanks

  • Pass Variables In Inheritance (Obj - C)

    - by Marmik Shah
    I working on a project in Obj-C where i have a base class (ViewController) and a Derived Class (MultiPlayer). Now i have declared certain variables and properties in the base class. My properties are getting accessed from the derived class but im not able to access the variables (int,char and bool type). I'm completely new to Obj-C so i have no clue whats wrong. I have used the data types which are used in C and C++. Is there some specific way to declare variables in Obj-C?? If so, How? Here are my files ViewController.h #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface ViewController : UIViewController @property (weak,nonatomic) IBOutlet UIImageView* backGroungImage; @property (strong,nonatomic) IBOutlet UIImageView *blockView1; @property (strong,nonatomic) IBOutlet UIImageView *blockView2; @property (strong,nonatomic) IBOutlet UIImageView *blockView3; @property (strong,nonatomic) IBOutlet UIImageView *blockView4; @property (strong,nonatomic) IBOutlet UIImageView *blockView5; @property (strong,nonatomic) IBOutlet UIImageView *blockView6; @property (strong,nonatomic) IBOutlet UIImageView *blockView7; @property (strong,nonatomic) IBOutlet UIImageView *blockView8; @property (strong,nonatomic) IBOutlet UIImageView *blockView9; @property (strong,nonatomic) UIImage *x; @property (strong,nonatomic) UIImage *O; @property (strong,nonatomic) IBOutlet UIImageView* back1; @property (strong,nonatomic) IBOutlet UIImageView* back2; @end ViewController.m #import "ViewController.h" @interface ViewController () @end @implementation ViewController int chooseTheBackground = 0; int movesToDecideXorO = 0; int winningArrayX[3]; int winningArrayO[3]; int blocksTotal[9] = {8,3,4,1,5,9,6,7,2}; int checkIfContentInBlocks[9] = {0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0}; char determineContentInBlocks[9] = {' ',' ',' ',' ',' ',' ',' ',' ',' '}; bool player1Win = false; bool player2Win = false; bool playerWin = false; bool computerWin = false; - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; if(chooseTheBackground==0) { UIImage* backImage = [UIImage imageNamed:@"MainBack1.png"]; _backGroungImage.image=backImage; } if(chooseTheBackground==1) { UIImage* backImage = [UIImage imageNamed:@"MainBack2.png"]; _backGroungImage.image=backImage; } } - (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning { [super didReceiveMemoryWarning]; // Dispose of any resources that can be recreated. } @end I am not able to use the above declared variables in my derived classes!

  • dlopen and global variables in C/C++

    - by mjn12
Due to some restrictions I am being forced to load a library written in C at runtime. A third party provides two library to me as static archives which we turn into shared objects. The application I'm working with loads one of the libraries at runtime based on some hardware parameters. Unfortunately one of the libraries is configured largely with global variables. I am already using dlsym to load function references but can I used dlsym to load references to these global variables as well?

  • showing get variables after calling setTemplate()

    - by user334017
I have a showSuccess page that requires some get variables, and on that page is a form. When the form submits to executeCreate() and there is an error, it calls the function setTemplate('show') and returns back to showSuccess. However, the get variables are missing. How do I keep the url the same?

  • Session Variables lost between pages reloads

    - by Android Addict
I was forced to move to IIS 7 when the server running our IIS 6 died. Nothing in the web app has changed, but it's obvious the environment has dramatically. The app fails between pages because the session variables are lost during redirect. I am not an expert on app pools but my impression from reading several posts is that the app pool is being recycled immediately. While they give a reason, they offer no help in how to resolve this. Can someone explain to a newb how to properly configure the DefaultAppPool?

  • Schedled Tasks and Environment Variables

    - by Andrew J. Brehm
I have a scheduled task, a batch file, that uses an environment variables which is set system-wide. On server 1, the scheduled task runs under a domain account and the environment variable works. The environment variable also exists in my session and when I runas as the service account. On server 2, the scheduled task runs under a different domain account and the environment variable DOES NOT work. However, the environment variable does exist in my session and when I runas as the service account. On both servers the environment variable has been set system-wide by the same script originally. The script runs again every now and then and as far as I can see noone has tempered with the environment variable. The scheduled tasks are set up identically on the two servers (using the same XML file) and the two service accounts are identically configured (as far as I know). What am I doing wrong?

  • WebLogic Server JMS WLST Script – Who is Connected To My Server

    - by james.bayer
Ever want to know who was connected to your WebLogic Server instance for troubleshooting?  An email exchange about this topic and JMS came up this week, and I’ve heard it come up once or twice before too.  Sometimes it’s interesting or helpful to know the list of JMS clients (IP Addresses, JMS Destinations, message counts) that are connected to a particular JMS server.  This can be helpful for troubleshooting.  Tom Barnes from the WebLogic Server JMS team provided some helpful advice: The JMS connection runtime mbean has “getHostAddress”, which returns the host address of the connecting client JVM as a string.  A connection runtime can contain session runtimes, which in turn can contain consumer runtimes.  The consumer runtime, in turn has a “getDestinationName” and “getMemberDestinationName”.  I think that this means you could write a WLST script, for example, to dump all consumers, their destinations, plus their parent session’s parent connection’s host addresses.    Note that the client runtime mbeans (connection, session, and consumer) won’t necessarily be hosted on the same JVM as a destination that’s in the same cluster (client messages route from their connection host to their ultimate destination in the same cluster). Writing the Script So armed with this information, I decided to take the challenge and see if I could write a WLST script to do this.  It’s always helpful to have the WebLogic Server MBean Reference handy for activities like this.  This one is focused on JMS Consumers and I only took a subset of the information available, but it could be modified easily to do Producers.  I haven’t tried this on a more complex environment, but it works in my simple sandbox case, so it should give you the general idea. # Better to use Secure Config File approach for login as shown here http://buttso.blogspot.com/2011/02/using-secure-config-files-with-weblogic.html connect('weblogic','welcome1','t3://localhost:7001')   # Navigate to the Server Runtime and get the Server Name serverRuntime() serverName = cmo.getName()   # Multiple JMS Servers could be hosted by a single WLS server cd('JMSRuntime/' + serverName + '.jms' ) jmsServers=cmo.getJMSServers()   # Find the list of all JMSServers for this server namesOfJMSServers = '' for jmsServer in jmsServers: namesOfJMSServers = jmsServer.getName() + ' '   # Count the number of connections jmsConnections=cmo.getConnections() print str(len(jmsConnections)) + ' JMS Connections found for ' + serverName + ' with JMSServers ' + namesOfJMSServers   # Recurse the MBean tree for each connection and pull out some information about consumers for jmsConnection in jmsConnections: try: print 'JMS Connection:' print ' Host Address = ' + jmsConnection.getHostAddress() print ' ClientID = ' + str( jmsConnection.getClientID() ) print ' Sessions Current = ' + str( jmsConnection.getSessionsCurrentCount() ) jmsSessions = jmsConnection.getSessions() for jmsSession in jmsSessions: jmsConsumers = jmsSession.getConsumers() for jmsConsumer in jmsConsumers: print ' Consumer:' print ' Name = ' + jmsConsumer.getName() print ' Messages Received = ' + str(jmsConsumer.getMessagesReceivedCount()) print ' Member Destination Name = ' + jmsConsumer.getMemberDestinationName() except: print 'Error retrieving JMS Consumer Information' dumpStack() # Cleanup disconnect() exit() Example Output I expect the output to look something like this and loop through all the connections, this is just the first one: 1 JMS Connections found for AdminServer with JMSServers myJMSServer JMS Connection:   Host Address = 127.0.0.1   ClientID = None   Sessions Current = 16    Consumer:      Name = consumer40      Messages Received = 1      Member Destination Name = myJMSModule!myQueue Notice that it has the IP Address of the client.  There are 16 Sessions open because I’m using an MDB, which defaults to 16 connections, so this matches what I expect.  Let’s see what the full output actually looks like: D:\Oracle\fmw11gr1ps3\user_projects\domains\offline_domain>java weblogic.WLST d:\temp\jms.py   Initializing WebLogic Scripting Tool (WLST) ...   Welcome to WebLogic Server Administration Scripting Shell   Type help() for help on available commands   Connecting to t3://localhost:7001 with userid weblogic ... • UDK: Error, Unrecognized member 'OpenMenu' in class 'GameUISceneClient'

    - by Ricket
Upon compiling, I am getting the following error: C:\UDK\UDK-2010-03\Development\Src\FixIt\Classes\ZInteraction.uc(41) : Error, Unrecognized member 'OpenMenu' in class 'GameUISceneClient' Line 41 is the following: GetSceneClient().OpenMenu("ZInterface.ZNLGWindow"); But when I search for OpenMenu, I find that it is indeed defined in GameUISceneClient.uc of the UDK: Line 1507: exec function OpenMenu( string MenuPath, optional int PlayerIndex=INDEX_NONE ) It looks like I have everything correct. So what's wrong? Why can't it find the OpenMenu function?

  • Member variable pointers to COM objects

    - by drelihan
Hi Folks, Is there any problem with keeping member variable pointer refernces to COM objects and reussing the reference through out the class in C++. Is anybody aware of a reason why you would want to call .CreateInstance every time you wanted a to use the COM object i.e. you were getting a fresh instance each time. I cannot see any reason who you would want to do this, Thanks, (No is an acceptable answer!!!)
