• Android/Eclipse: Creating multiple builds with different com identifiers.

  Hi, I have an app that requires two builds - one is a demo app, the other uses the same codebase but uses a flag to introduce different functionality. The identifier must be different each time (e.g. com.siteA.appA and com.siteB.appB). However it doesn't appear to be trivial to use the refactor functionality in Eclipse to change the com identifier - all references change apart from the "import com.siteA.appA.R" reference. Is there a way to create different builds with different com identifiers/app name within Eclipse? Thanks

• Why wasn't C# designed with 'const' for variables and methods?

  I suspect const was simplified for the C# spec for general language simplicity.   I have seen this question. It seems that regardless of the cast, the temporary object(s) will "survive" until the fullexpression evaluated. But in the following scenario: void foo(boost::tuple<const double&> n) { printf("%lf\n", n.get<0>()); } int main() { foo(boost::tuple<const double&>(2));//#1 foo(boost::make_tuple(2));//#2 return 0; } 1 run well, but 2 do not. And MSVC gave me a warning about 2: "reference member is initialized to a temporary that doesn't persist after the constructor exits" Now I am wondering why they both make a temporary "double" object and pass it to boost::tuple<const double&> and only 2 failed.

  I have implemented MVVM in my WPF application. I was wondering what is the correct way to consume a Web Service from WPF MVVM app. So far, I have created a DataAccess interface and a class that implements this interface. This would serve as a facade / proxy to the web service. The ViewModel gets a reference to this class as the constructor parameter so it can make any calls to get/set data, in this case it will be a Web service call. I would appreciate if you can guide me with some hints and / or direct me to some online resource.

  Hi I am using an NSSortdescriptor to sort a collection of NSArrays, I then came across a case where the particular NSArray to be sorted contains an NSDictionary who contains an NSDictionary. I would like to sort from the string paired with a key in the last dictionary. This is how I would reference the string: NSDictionary *productDict = [MyArray objectAtIndex:index]; NSString *dealerName = [[productDict objectForKey:@"dealer"] objectForKey:@"name"]; How would I use the dealerName in my NSSortdescriptor to sort the array?   I have an ajax-enabled site that presents a lot of dynamic content by interpolating JSON values with HTML. This all works fine. BUT it means I have significant amounts of HTML all through my JavaScript. For example: var template = "<div>Foo: {bar}</div><div>Blah: {vtha}</div>"; template.interpolate({bar:"bar",blah:"vtha"}); I have cut this down a fair bit - some of my dynamic elements have quite a lot of HTML and a lot going on. I am using jQuery and I am building on Rails, so if there is something smart in either framework, that would be great. • ConfigurationSection with multiple projects

  In my asp.net solution i have a couple of class library-projects that act as modules of the site. In main project I have SiteConfigurationSection class that derives from ConfigurationSection. I want all projects to be able to access and use this SiteConfigurationSection. But class library projects can't access it because they obviously don't have a reference to the website itself. Should create a special library-project for SiteConfigurationSection of maybe it's better to create a mini SiteConfigurationSection class in every project and encapsulate only the needed values?

I have followed all the steps given in http://developer.android.com/reference/android/app/SearchManager.html I am getting the following exception 04-16 12:49:26.917: ERROR/DatabaseUtils(102): java.lang.SecurityException: Permission Denial: reading com.android.providers.telephony.MmsSmsProvider uri content://mms-sms/search_suggest_query/m?limit=58 from pid=106, uid=10000 requires android.permission.READ_SMS I have set permission in MmsSmsProvider.java file for read, write sms and global search, but still I get this error. • Why does initWithFrame have the wrong frame value?

  I have a subclass of UIButton called INMenuCard and I am overriding the initWithFrame to include an activity indicator. The menuCard places correctly but any internal reference to "frame" give me "inf,inf,0,0" which means my activityIndicator subview is not placed correctly.   I'm building an AST using ANTLR. I want to write a production that match a this string: ${identifier} so, in my grammar file I have: reference : DOLLAR LBRACE IDENT RBRACE -> ^(NODE_VAR_REFERENCE IDENT) ; This works fine. I'm using my own adaptor to emit tree nodes. The rewrite rule used creates for me two nodes: one for NODE_VAR_REFERENCE and one for IDENT. What I want to do is create only one node (for NODE_VAR_REFERENCE token) and this node must have the IDENT token in his "token" field. Is this possible using a rewrite rule? Thanks.

  The best way to illustrate this question is with...a Fiddle! Before you visit the fiddle, notice there is text behind the grayest element, which is on top of a light gray element that has a border. There is a main wrapping div (root), and two wrapping divs inside (wrap1 and wrap2). The problem here is that I need the content of wrap2 (highlight) to be behind the content of wrap1 (text), but in front of the background of the root. This, however, must not change: The HTML, the elements and wraps should be left untouched. Excluding the order of wrap1 and wrap2 inside root. The highlight div must keep the absolute positioning. Styling highlight with background-color is not an option, the existence of highlight is a must. PS: the italics reference the id's of <div>s in the fiddle example, for whomever was too lazy to visit it.

  Hi, I have a game I am making, it is giving me this message... "An unhandled exception of type 'System.StackOverflowException' occurred in game.exe" To explain...I have a 2D array with 9 different opening moves and I am getting a random number to use as the array reference to retrieve the details needed for a move... you may get the same move again - but that's illegal. the move may be illegal for other reasons too So to try and fix this, I am calling the function again from within the function. The error occurs very randomly Is this bad practise to call a function from within itself? What would be a better way to randomly row from a 2D array, AND if it isn't accept to get another one.... Or better still, how can I retrieve a random LEGAL move?

In my web.config I have <sessionState mode="StateServer" stateConnectionString="tcpip=127.0.0.1:42424" cookieless="false" timeout="20"> </sessionState> I have read a dozen articles on the the necessity of IHttpHandler and an IRequiresSessionState interface. I think the issue may be caused because I am requesting this information in Page_PreInit. I found a solution in a stack overflow article but I don't seem be using it properly to actually make this go. I am not sure what I am missing. Thanks in advance.

• Two Different Types of Associatons on the Same Two Tables in Rails

  I have two models, users and themes, that I'm currently joining in a HABTM association in a themes_users table. Basically, after a user creates a new theme, it becomes available to other users to select for their own use. However, only the original creator of the theme should have the ability to edit it. So, I need to have some other kind of association to handle that relationship, something like an created_by_id field in the theme. In this way, the user model acts as two different roles: they can be an implementer of a theme AND/OR the owner of the theme. The implementer relationship is handled by the themes_users join table; the question is: What is the right way to handle this secondary association? Do I need to make users polymorphic and then make the created_by_id reference an "owner"? Or is there something easier? Thanks so much for your help!

  Hi al, we have 5 tables over which we should query with user search input throughout a stored procedure. We do a union all of the similar data inside a view. Because of this the view can not be materialized. We are not able to change these 5 tables drastically (like creating a 6th table that contains the similar data of the 5 tables and reference that new one from the 5 tables). The query is rather expensive / slow what are our other options? It's allowed to think outside the box. • Which is faster in memory, ints or chars? And file-mapping or chunk reading?

  Okay, so I've written a (rather unoptimized) program before to encode images to JPEGs, however, now I am working with MPEG-2 transport streams and the H.264 encoded video within them. Before I dive into programming all of this, I am curious what the fastest way to deal with the actual file is. Currently I am file-mapping the .mts file into memory to work on it, although I am not sure if it would be faster to (for example) read 100 MB of the file into memory in chunks and deal with it that way. These files require a lot of bit-shifting and such to read flags, so I am wondering that when I reference some of the memory if it is faster to read 4 bytes at once as an integer or 1 byte as a character. I thought I read somewhere that x86 processors are optimized to a 4-byte granularity, but I'm not sure if this is true... Thanks!

I have a table and one of its column is referring to another column in another table (in the same database) as foreign key, here is the related SQL statement, in more details, column [AnotherID] in table [Foo] refers to another table [Goo]'s column [GID] as foreign key. [GID] is primary key and clustered index on table [Goo]. My question is, in this way, if I do not create index on [AnotherID] column on [Foo] explicitly, will there be an index created automatically for [AnotherID] column on [Foo] -- because its foreign key reference column [GID] on table [Goo] already has primary clustered key index? • MSMQ empty object on message body

  Ok, so I'm very VERY new to MSMQ and I'm already confused. I have created a private queue and added a few messages to it, all good so far. BUT when I retrieve the messages back from the queue the message body contains a empty object of the type I added. By this I don't mean that the body is null, it does have a reference to a type of the object that I added, but it's not instantiated so all the properties are in their null or default state. • Which libraries use the "We Know Where You Live" optimization for std::make_shared?

  Over two years ago, Stephan T. Lavavej described a space-saving optimization he implemented in Microsoft's implementation of std::make_shared, and I know from speaking with him that Microsoft has nothing against other library implementations adopting this optimization. If you know for sure whether other libraries (e.g., for Gnu C++, Clang, Intel C++, plus Boost (for boost::make_shared)) have adopted this implementation, please contribute an answer. I don't have ready access to that many make_shared implementations, nor am I wild about digging into the bowels of the ones I have to see if they've implemented the WKWYL optimization, but I'm hoping that SO readers know the answers for some libraries off-hand. I know from looking at the code that as of Boost 1.52, the WKWYL optimization had not been implemented, but Boost is now up to version 1.55. Note that this optimization is different from std::make_shared's ability to avoid a dedicated heap allocation for the reference count used by std::shared_ptr.   I am writing a silverlight Line of business application and wanted to use the Subsonic DAL. The Silverlight Project will not allow me to Add the Subsonic reference with the followng error "You can not add the Subsonic.Core.Dll as it was not built against the Silverlight Runtime". I assume that I could create a webservice and add the Subsonic to that, but I would like to just add it to the Silverlight Project. Has anyone done this and if so how. If not is there an easy way to expose the DAL through the Webservice.

• window.parent is always undefined in an iframe

  Hi there, I have recently ran into this strange issue, I was trying to reference parent window in an iframe, but somehow window.parent or parent are always undefined. I got around the problem by using window.top, but this question still haunts me. Why is window.parent undefined? This is a .NET web app, if it helps. Update: I would like to add that both parent and child iframes are pointed to the same domain (localhost). As for code, I have tried the following code: if (parent != null) { // do something } where do something never happens, I also tried alert(parent) and alert(window.parent) they always come out as null.

  Hello! I have a few classes (heat, gas, contact, pressure) inheriting from a main one (sensor). I have a need to store them in a vector<Sensor *> (part of the specification). At some point in time, I need to call a function that indiscriminately stores those Sensor *. (also part of the specification, not open for discussion) Something like this: for(size_t i = 0; i < Sensors.size(); ++i) Sensors[i]->storeSensor(os) //os is an ofstream kind of object, passed onwards by reference Where and how shall storeSensor be defined? • cocoa - referencing a method on the parent

  I had a method on my main view controller named "calculateThis". This method was run, obviously, as int newValue = [self calculateThis:myVariable]; when I run it from inside the view controller. Then I created a static class and I need to run this method from there. How do I reference this method from that class using just relative references, as super, superview, delegate, etc. I cannot use the class name defined on the delegate because this static class is used in several apps of mine.
