Image Upload with Mootools

I am creating an ajax uploader with mootools. When I remove the ajax and simply upload the form I get $_FILES with the file data present. But when I use the ajax version, the $_FILES super global is empty. Every other part of the form is present. It acts as if it does not send the image at all but only in the ajax version. Any help is appreciated. Calling a function from a ajax response content

Hi guys. I have a function when the page is ready. <script> $(function(){ function do_ajax(){ do some stuff } });.... This works great on that page. Then I make a .post call and load the response into a div. The response has a <script>$(selector).click(function(){ do_ajax(); });</script> with the result. I get an error "do_ajax() is undefined". How can I call do_ajax() from an event from the ajax content? Another one. I am using jquery ui datepicker. So, when the page is loaded, I invoke the $(".datepicker").datepicker(); This works great on that page. Then I make a .post call and load the response into a div. The response has a couple of .datepicker fields. The problem is that the newly loaded datepicker fields don't get the calendar unless I return <script>$(".datepicker").datepicker();</script> with the result. Is that how you guys do it or is there another way? Thanks!

jQuery: Is it possible to assign a DOM element to a variable for later use?

I'm working on a project that is using jQuery, which I'm much more familiar with Mootools. I'll start with my code first. var customNamespace = { status: 'closed', popup: $('#popup'), showPopup: function() { // ... } } $(document).ready(function(){ console.log($('#popup')); console.log(customNamespace.popup); console.log($(customNamespace.popup)); $('#popup').fadeIn('slow'); (customNamespace.popup).fadeIn('slow'); $(customNamespace.popup).fadeIn('slow'); }); My goal is to not have jQuery traverse the DOM everytime I want to do something with the #popup div, so I wanted to save it to a variable to use it throughout my script. When the page loads, the console prints out the object 3 times as I would expect, so I assumed that for each method, the fadeIn would just work. But it doesn't, only $('#popup').fadeIn('slow'); Actually fades in the div. Even if I remove my namespace hash, and just save the object to a global variable, and do a var globalVariable = $('#popup'); . . . globalVariable.fadeIn('slow'); Also does not work as I thought it would. Can jQuery do what I am trying to do?

JQM Nested Popups

I am having a hard time with the new Alpha release of JQM not showing nested popups. For example, I am displaying a popup form that the user is supposed to fill out, if the server side validation fails, I want to display an error popup. I am finding that the error popup is not being shown. multiple touches: touchend event fired only when a touchmove occurs

I would like to add some multitouch features to my javascript application when it is accessed from an ios device (and maybe android later). I want to provide a shiftkey-like functionality: the user may hold a button on the screen with one finger, and while this button is pressed, the behavior for a tap action on the rest of the screen is slightly different from the classic tap. The problem i'm running into is that i do not receive any touchend event for the tapping finger unless a touchmove is fired for the first finger holding the shiftkey button. Because the screen is very sensitive, touchmove events gets easily fired and in most cases everything works fine. But when the user's finger is a bit too still, the tapping is not detected until the user moves his finger a bit. This induces a variable 'delay' between the tapping and the action that occurs on the screen (the delay may vary and last a few seconds if the user is very calm). My guess is that this delay will cause the user to tap again and thus fire the action a second time, which is something that i don't want ! You can test it here with your ipad/iphone : http://jsfiddle.net/jdeXH/8/ Try to make the body remain green for a few seconds by holding your finger very still on the cyan div while tapping on the red div. Is this behavior to be expected ? Is there some known workaround for the problem ? vertically aligning image in fluid container

Make var_dump look pretty

Is there a way to add in line breaks at least for this or display the var_dump in a way that's more readable? I'm open to jQuery suggestions on manipulating the string after it's posted.

I'm trying to load an image to a div background using the following file structure in the root. WebContent -- | zharaimages -- | [ItemID] -- | Image.jpg This is done by jQuery and the file structure is inside the root. The ItemID folder is dynamic and I have to check whether the path exists using jQuery and if the path is not valid, I should go to a default path to fetch the default image. How can I check the path is valid using jQuery. I'm hoping to this can be done without an ajax call. Can any one help me on a tutorial or an API I can use for this! UPDATE The files are on the server. The concept I have is that I have 100s of item elements & I want to load an image for each item element. The images are saved in the server ( a local host ) and the folder hierarchy is divided using the item ID as shown. What I want to do is check whether the image file exists before appending it to the background of the item element div. Is this possible. This is a web application developed using spring.

Results would appear seconds later, especially when typed slower, or when Backspace was used, etc. I made all this, and the situation isn't much better. Requests pile up. My original intention is to use .abort() to cancel out whatever previous request is still running as the textchange event is fired again (as per 446594). This doesn't work, as I get repeated errors like this in console; Uncaught TypeError: Cannot call method 'abort' of undefined How can I make .abort() work in my case? Furthermore, is this approach the best way to fetch 'realtime' search results? Much like Facebook's search bar, which gives results as the user types, and seems to be very quick on its feet.

How to get jquery to append output immediately after each ajax call in a loop

How to display inline several <li> with 100% width?

Hi, I have the following html: <div id="container"> <ul> <li>element 1</li> <li>element 2</li> </ul> </div> applied with a css as follows: #container { width:100%; overflow:auto; } #container ul { width: 100%; } #container li { width: 100%; } So now I would like to have an indeterminate number of elements (<li>) all with 100% width (so they can adjust accordingly to the browser's window size) but all side by side, displaying the horizontal scroll bar in the container. I have tried putting "display:inline" on ul's css, and "float:left" on li's css, but with no success. Any suggestions? Also, try to consider I'm trying to make this as "cross-browser compatible" as possible. Thanks in advanced;

CSS: Why an input width:100% doesn't expand in an absolute box?

On IE7, both inputs take the whole width of the page. Two questions come to mind: Why does the width: 100% have no effect with standard-compliant browsers? I have to say that the way IE7 renders this feels more intuitive to me. How can I get IE7 to render things like the other browsers, if I can't remove the width: 100% and can't set a width on the absolutely positioned box?

CSS 100% height with padding/margin

This has been driving me crazy for a couple of days now, but in reality it's a problem that I've hit off and on for the last few years: With HTML/CSS how can I make an element that has a width and/or height that is 100% of it's parent element and still has proper padding or margins? By "proper" I mean that if my parent element is 200px tall and I specify 100% height with 5px padding I would expect that I should get a 190px high element with 5px "border" on all sides, nicely centered in the parent element. Now, I know that that's not how the standard box model specifies it should work (although I'd like to know why, exactly...), so the obvious answer doesn't work: #myDiv { width: 100% height: 100%; padding: 5px; } But it would seem to me that there must be SOME way of reliably producing this effect for a parent of arbitrary size. Does anyone know of a way of accomplishing this (seemingly simple) task? Oh, and for the record I'm not terribly interested in IE compatibility so that should (hopefully) make things a bit easier. EDIT: Since an example was asked for, here's the simplest one I can think of: <html style="height: 100%"> <body style="height: 100%"> <div style="background-color: black; height: 100%; padding: 25px"></div> </body> </html> The challenge is then to get the black box to show up with a 25 pixel padding on all edges without the page growing big enough to require scrollbars.

I am searching for a plugin or any other way for n++ to close the last open tag on demand (i.e. assigned to a shortcut key), not automatically. Sadly all I could find is tag auto-closing (in TextFX and XMLtools), where a tag closure is added when the user types the '' (like in <div>). Any suggestions?
