    Using Ubuntu 12.04, are there any differences between installing Apache httpd using sudo apt-get install apache2 (as the guide of Ubuntu says - https://help.ubuntu.com/12.04/serverguide/httpd.html ) or following the steps on the Apache documentation (http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/install.html#overview)? I tried both ways; in the first case (using apt-get) the server seems to work - I open a browser page and I got it. In the second case I need other packages (apr, apr-util and pcre) and so I abandoned the attempt.

If I use FULL JOIN I'll get no differences as substr(account.ACC,1,4) = substr(flex.ACC,1,4) are equal and others are equal and MINUS doesn't work because ID's different. Thanks.

Please discuss the technical differences as well as reasons for choosing one or the other in OO design. I'll start with an obvious difference: If you don't specify public: or private:, members of a struct are public by default; members of a class are private by default. I'm sure there are other differences to be found in the obscure corners of the C++ specification.

  • What are the performance differences between PCI-Express x16 and x4

    I have two PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slots on my motherboard, but one of them is actually just x4. For passing through my graphics card to a virtual machine I need to use both slots simultaneously and unfortunately, the easiest way for me to achieve that is putting the stronger card in the x4 slot (secondary slot; I need the stronger card to be in the secondary slot, not the primary). As such I am wondering what sort of noticable performance differences I can expect from using the x4 slot with a strong card as opposed to having it in the true x16 slot. Does it limit the performance so much that the strong card in the x4 slot will actually perform worse than the significantly weaker card in the x16 slot? (For spec comparison I am using a GTX-670 in the x4 slot and GTX-550-Ti in the x16 slot) What implications does this have?

    I am new to Linux and am running CentOs. When I want to update or install certain software I came across three ways. Sometimes it's: yum install program rpm -i program.rpm wget program.tar.gz unpack ./configure make make install That last one is a real pain, esp when you come from windows where a program install is usually one click and then a nice guide. Now can someone please explain to me: Why are there so many different ways to do this? Which one do you recommend to use and why? Are there any other ways for installing programs?

  • Windows file compare (FC) spurious differences

    I'm getting differences like this: a.txt Betty Davis Cathy Edwards b.txt Betty Davis Cathy Edwards There are only two lines listed in the diff (which doesn't make sense). No CR/LF/Newline funnies. The difference just moves down if I delete lines. Same problem on Win7 and Win2K. The difference seems to go away if I remove all empty lines from the files. The empty lines are correctly terminiated too. Using /C /W (ignore case, ignore whitespace) Has anyone seen this before? What am I doing wrong? How can I fix it? There are real diffs in the file -missing, extra, or re-spelled names- but the files are byte-for-byte identical at the listed diff.

    The compare function in Word 2007 is very handy -- is there a similar capability in Excel 2007? I can't seem to find it... The documents I'm trying to compare are essentially two versions of the same content. Unfortunately, "Track Changes" has not been used. If file comparison not a built-in feature, what alternatives are out there for doing this?     Basically, i have done my program so that it will display differences in strings and display the whole line. I want to highlight (in a colour) the differences in the line. Example: Original at line 5 <rect x="60.01" width="855.38" id="rect_1" y="-244.35" height="641.13" style="stroke-width: 1; stroke: rgb(0, 0, 0); fill: none; "/> Edited at line 5 <rect x="298.43" width="340.00" y="131.12" height="380.00" id="rect_1" style="stroke-width: 1; stroke: rgb(0, 0, 0); fill: rgb(255, 102, 0); "/> In this example, the width is different from the 'original' from the 'edited' version. I would like to be able to highlight that difference and any other difference.   • RHEL 6 vs latest vanilla kernel differences?

    What are the differences of the RHEL 6 kernel and the latest kernel.org one? I know RHEL is based on 2.6.32 with some features backported from newer kernels and that it also has other features that are not yet part of the latest vanilla kernel. Is there any comparison of the features of both kernels so I can tell how advanced is the RHEL kernel 6 vs. latest vanilla and vice versa?. It don't have to be the latest kernel at all, but the more recent the vanilla version, the better. What I want to know is: What features I lose/win if I change the RHEL kernel for the latest kernel.org’s one? What features are less matured/developed in the latest vanilla kernel than in RHEL’s (and vice versa)? (I guess KVM virtualization is one of them, but I'm not so sure.) What things (libraries / programs / etc) don’t interact as well with the latest vanilla kernel than with the RHEL’s one? In a related note: Is there ANY way to be as up to date (kernelwise) as possible (using RHEL 6) without loosing too much in the process? (Any way except doing the patching myself, I don’t have the necessary expertise) Any repo I don’t know of? Any alternative? Update: The srpm doesn't include patches (see comments), so that way is not possible. Clarification: I'm interested in how "old" the RHEL kernel gets as time goes by, and to know when the latest upstream kernel includes all the improvements included in the RHEL version.

  • Compare-Object gives false differences

    I have some problem with Compare-Object. My task is to get difference between two directory snapshots made at different times. First snapshot is taken like this: ls -recurse d:\dir | export-clixml dir-20100129.xml Then, later, I get second snapshot and load both of them: $b = (import-clixml dir-20100130.xml) $a = (import-clixml dir-20100129.xml) Next, I'm trying to compare with Compare-Object, like that: diff $a $b What I get is in some places files that were added to $b since $a, but in some -- files that were in both snapshots, and some files, that were added to $b, are not given in Compare-Object output. Puzzling, but $b.count - $a.count is EXACTLY the same as (diff $a $b).count. Why is that? Ok, Compare-Object has -property param. I try to use that: diff -property fullname $a $b And I get the whole mess of differences: it shows me ALL the files. For example, say $a contains: A\1.txt A\2.txt A\3.txt And $b contains: X\2.mp3 X\3.mp3 X\4.mp3 A\1.txt A\2.txt A\3.txt diff output is something like that: X\2.mp3 => A\1.txt <= X\3.mp3 => A\2.txt <= X\4.mp3 => A\3.txt <= A\1.txt => A\2.txt => A\3.txt => Weird. I think I don't understand something crucial about Compare- Object usage, and manuals are scarce... Please, help me to get the DIFFERENCE between two directory snapshots. Thanks in advance UPDATE: I've saved data as plain strings like that: > import-clixml dir-20100129.xml | % { $_.fullname } | out-file -enc utf8 a.txt And results are the same.   • Differences between iPhone/iPod Simulator and Devices

    Hi, since I started iPhone/iPod Development I have come across some differences between how the simulator and how real device react. Maybe I will come across some other differences I will have to figure out as well, maybe other people haven't met these problems here (YET) and can profit from the knowledge, and maybe you know some problems/differences that you would have been happy to know about earlier before you spent several hours or days figuring out what the heck is going on. So here is what I came across. Simulator is not case sensitive, Devices are case sensitive. This means a default.png or Icon.png will work in simulator, but not on a device where they must be named Default.png and icon.png (if it's still not working read this answer) Simulator has different codecs to play audio and video If you use f.e. MPMoviePlayerController you might play certain video on the simulator while on the device it won't work (use Handbrake-presets-iPhone & iPod Touch to create playable videos for Simulator and Device). If you play audio with AudioServicesPlaySystemSound(&soundID) you might here the sound on simulator but not an a device. (use Audacity to open your soundfile, export as wav and run afconvert -f caff -d LEI16@44100 -c 1 audacity.wav output.caf in terminal) Also there is this flickering on second run problem which can be resolved with an playerViewCtrl.initialPlaybackTime = -1.0; either on the end of playing or before each beginning. Simulator is mostly much faster cause it doesn't simulate the hardware but uses Mac resources, therefore f.e. sio2 Apps (OpenGL,OpenAL,etc. framework) run much better on simulator, well everything that uses more resources will run visibly better in simulator than on device. I hope we can add some more to this.

I just loaded the RTM and noticed some small things different. I searched around but can't find anything around about it.
