• Can't connect to a share.

  Hello, I have a laptop with a Windows XP Tablet Edition installed. I have several users setup on the laptop (mostly me and my kids). When I try to connect to its administrative share via \DadLaptop\c$ from a Windows 2000 Professional machine, it prompts me for a user name and password. However, after I enter it, it always tells me "incorrect password or unknown username". As a test I setup another share, called "test" and tried to connect to that. It worked fine, didn't even ask me for a password, just connected to it and that's that. All the networking is wireless. I am connecting with an admin account (admin on the target computer). What am I missing? Why can't I connect to an administrative share?

• SQL Server Express 2005 cannot connect

  hi all, I have a SQL Server Express 2005 install on a godaddy virtual terminal which currently is only connected to(locally with mgt studio) every few days or so. Every time i try to connect I get a cannot connect to SQL Server error and after a restart it I can connect just fine locally. I was wondering if there is a timeout setting or something that I am missing that I need to change so that if it is not connected to for a while it does not required a restart? any ideas? thanks!

  We're using Nagios to monitor some of our web sites. We have a script that uses the older plugin that we are trying to switch to using webinject.pl from cpan. When the script runs, it generates this error: LWP::Protocol::https::Socket: SSL connect attempt failed with unknown error error:1407741A:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:tlsv1 alert decode error at /usr/local/share/perl5/LWP/Protocol/http.pm line 51. It appears the web site does not support TLSv1 for https. If it matters, the site is a Cisco WebVPN. I've pointed the same script at a different site that does support TLSv1 and it seems to work fine. My web search is coming up empty.   I'm trying to connect to my office VPN from home. One small problem: my home desktop uses Vista (64-bit, Ultimate edition). On Vista, you're supposed to set up a VPN like so: Open the control panel Click on Network Click on "Connect to a Network" Configure a new connection of type "Office" The problem is, when I click on the link for "Connect to a Network", nothing happens. Can anyone suggest how I should go about troubleshooting this? (Or am I better off just upgrading to Windows 7?)

• How can I configure a Linksys EA4500 + usb printer for network printing (without connect cloud)

  The documentation and classic firmware (2.0.37) for Cisco's Linksys EA4500 is a bit sparse on setup details. It says I can connect a USB-printer, but then goes on to try to sell "Connect Cloud" remote management software. I don't want that. I just want to know how to set this up with the existing advanced firmware. Is it possible? AFAIK, to setup a IPP or LDP printer, there is usually some kind of queue configuration on the server (i.e. the ea4500 in this case), but I can't find it in the firmware. I also have been unable to find any existing protocols from win7 or mac osx. (windows network share, IPP/LDP etc.) I'm curious if I need to have the "Storage" accounts active and connect to my router either via the local IP or router name. There's a lot of unknowns here; it would help to know how this particular router actually works.

It also said that there is a network configuration problem. And when I inputted the ip address from whatismyip.com which should be the same as the ip address on local machine. I didn't get the previous error but I got another one, it said that: insufficient permissions to connect to "ip address" What solution can you suggest for this problem?

  I'm just starting out on a mission to learn more about networking and I've followed a tutorial (http://raspberrypihq.com/how-to-turn-a-raspberry-pi-into-a-wifi-router/) to turn my Raspberry Pi into a wifi router. That worked really well so I modified it slightly so that I can use a tethered iphone for the internet connection - I just switched all "eth0" references to "eth1" (the iphone interface) and added a script to set everything up when the phone is plugged in. This setup has freed up the Pi's ethernet port so I'd like to try and take this a step further and allow devices plugged into it to connect to the network. If possible, I'd like to try adding a switch so I can connect multiple devices. I've tried fiddling around with nat & iptables with no luck so my question is, how can I connect devices on eth0 to my wlan network?

Now we got another provider and we need to use the router which came with it. It is also a wireless router. It works perfectly.   I have a nokia N97. In my apartment there's a wifi network that we all use to connect to the internet. But for the past few days my laptop is not able to find the network..Initially I thought it was a problem of the network,but hen I found out that others were able to use it..My vista os laptop is able to detect other available networks but not the required one..Then i tried to connect my cell phone to the network and it did easily!! I tried restoring the network settings to default but it showed the network for just 2 mins and it ws back to square one.. I wanted to know can I connect my laptop to the cell using USB and browse internet through that?? I have done it when I used GPRS but am not sure if it cn be done in this situation when the cell is connected toa wifi network..plz help..

If I try to connect from my computer to the Cassandra node through the ruby gem cassandra, I can connect perfectly, if I try to to the same from the ruby gem cassandra in the server, it says that there is no listening on 127.0.0.1. I can connect locally to the instance using telnet 127.0.0.1 9160 and it works... any idea? Thank you!

The macbook pro has a resolution of 1440x900 so when I VNC into it, I can only see 1440x900 box with black borders on full resolution. The macbook pro can drive resolutions of 2560x1440. What program do I use to connect to the macbook at full (1920x1080) resolution. I can use remote desktop and connect from the dell laptop to another dell laptop that has a 1440x900 max. resolution. However in case of Remote desktop connection I can expand the window to be 1920x1080. I'm using TightVNC viewer on Windows. Thanks

  I have troubles to connect from macos to reach windows shares and I hit some general problem with my macos. When I try to telnet to 445 port to my windows share server the macos throws "Operation not permitted".   I've installed a stock mysql 5.5 installation, and while I can connect to the mysql service via the mysql command, and the service seems to be running, I cannot connect to it through spring+tomcat or from an external jdbc connector.   Hello, I am running IIS and SQL Server 2008 Express on my Windows 7 host, and I'd like to be able to connect to them in XP Mode. My host machine is not a part of a domain, only a workgroup. So far, I've tried these instructions on connecting to SQL Server, but I'm not able to telnet to port 1433 on the host from XP Mode. I'm also not able to connect using a SQL client.   I have a windows 2008 server running with FTP 7 on IIS 7. I have it configured to connect as it is out of the box, with a particular user (lets say john) with read/write access. When I use my FileZilla client software, I can connect to the server as john just fine. No problems at all. However, when I try to connect using Windows Explorer or using the cmd prompt I get stone walled, saying "Login failed". My client machine is Windows Vista Ultimate. Does anyone know what might be causing this?

I have a server inside my intranet, in wich i have apache running with some web applications. when i'm at office the url i use to connect is zeus.mydomain.it, it works couse i have in my /etc/hosts a record 192.168.0.11 zeus.mydomain.it, but obviously it does not work when i'm outside in different network. i have a internet connectino with static ip, so i can connect to my intranet form outside. the question is: how can i connect to the intranet server using zeus.mydomain.it from inside and from outside my intranet ? thanks!!   I am trying to connect to a remote MS SQL Server 2008 SP3 x86 Instance using it's name. At the first glance all seems to work well (e.g. it is possible to connect to the server locally and succesfully telnet it's port remotely), but there is a thing I can't understand... This line should connect us to the default instance of remote SQL Server: osql -S ServerIP -d MyDatabase /U sa -P MyPassword and it does the trick, however the next one: osql -S ServerIP\MyInstance -d MyDatabase /U sa -P MyPassword ends up with the following error: [SQL Native Client]SQL Network Interfaces: Error Locating Server/Instance Specified [xFFFFFFFF]. [SQL Native Client]Login timeout expired [SQL Native Client]An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. The only instance running on the server is MyInstance, which is (I guess) the default one. Could you please put some time in explaining the issue.

  Family changed the network password and some other network settings after new computers were brought into the house because apparently they wouldn't work with what we had. Actually an off-site tech remotely changed it, and I have no idea what he did. My laptop detects the network (it shows up under available networks) but whenever I try to connect it says: Windows is unable to connect to the selected network. The network may no longer be in range. Please refresh the list of available networks, and try to connect again. I wish I could give more details, config settings, but frankly I have no idea what I'm looking for. This is XP (also, not a password issue, I know the password, it's just that I have no idea where to enter it, etc.)

But as soon the IP is external it won't connect.. • Auto-connect Bluetooth headphones in Windows 7 64bit

  I have a pair of bluetooth headphones that I've successfully paired with my Windows 7 64bit machine and audio plays through them without a hitch. On the Device Stage under the properties of the headphones in troubleshooting it shows "last connected" as "currently connected" even if I power cycle the headphones or after a reboot of my computer. So the Windows bluetooth stack has no trouble finding them. The problem I have is that whenever the headphones reconnect to my pc they show up as disconnected in the Sound Settings and no sound is routed to them until I manually connect them. I have to go into Sound Settings, then from the Playback tab right click on the headphones and choose the Connect option. Is there a way to make the Sound Settings connect automatically whenever the headphones are available to Windows?

  I can access my apache 2.2 webserver from the lan ( at this case I use local IP aadress ) but I cannot connect externally ( from another network ). I changed apache to listen port 800, forwarded same port from router control panel, turned off windows and router firewalls. I use whatsmyip.com to get IP with what I try to connect. When I'm trying to connect I use : [whatsmyip.com IP]:800. Also, I can ping server IP externally. OS is windows7. Any ideas, suggestions? Thanks

  created a Virtual machine using VMware. The VM is on and i succeeded to login and work on it with the Vmware console. now i want to use the "remote desktop connection" to connect to it. i enabled the remote access on the home premium Win7 that i installed on the VM. in the Remote Desktop i entered the ip (same network (home network))). it just won't connect. i also disabled the firewall on the Win7 , but it still won;t connect. i have another VM with the same Win7 that remote desktop works fine with.
