  • How can I programmatically link an UIView or UIImageView with an event like "touch up inside"?

    - by Thanks
Interface Builder will only allow me to hook up such events for an button. But like in HTML, I just want to haven an blank UIImageView where - as soon as the user taps it - a method is invoked. I hope there is some cool programmatically way of doing that, which I don't know about. UPDATE: In my View Controller that creates the UIImageView I tried to do this: SEL actionSelector = @selector(doSomethingWhenImageIsTouched:); [self.myUIImageView addTarget:nil action:actionSelector forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; The compiler gives me a warning, that UIImageView may not respond to addTarget:... what do I have to do so that it works with an UIImageView. I see in the docs that UIImageView does not inherit from UIControl, but addTarget: is part of UIControl. UPDATE: I ended up creating an UIButton after creating the UIImageView. Then I set the frame of that button to the frame of the UIImageView, and alpha to 0.1f. For some reason, it will not work if alpha is 0.0f. And then, I did that cool addTarget: thing...

  • Capturing unhandled exceptions in .Net 2.0. Wrong event called.

    - by SoMoS
Hello, I'm investigating a bit about how the unhandled exceptions are managed in .Net and I'm getting unexpected results that I would like to share with you to see what do you think about. The first one is pretty simple to see. I wrote this code to do the test, just a button that throws an Exception on the same thread that created the Form: Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Throw New Exception() End Sub Private Sub UnhandledException(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As UnhandledExceptionEventArgs) MsgBox(String.Format("Exception: {0}. Ending: {1}. AppDomain: {2}", CType(e.ExceptionObject, Exception).Message, e.IsTerminating.ToString(), AppDomain.CurrentDomain.FriendlyName)) End Sub Private Sub UnhandledThreadException(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Threading.ThreadExceptionEventArgs) MsgBox(String.Format("Exception: {0}. AppDomain: {1}", e.Exception.Message(), AppDomain.CurrentDomain.FriendlyName)) End Sub Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load AddHandler AppDomain.CurrentDomain.UnhandledException, AddressOf UnhandledException AddHandler Application.ThreadException, AddressOf UnhandledThreadException End Sub End Class When I execute the code inside the Visual Studio the UnhandledException is called as expected but when I execute the application from Windows the UndhanledThreadException is called instead. ¿?¿?¿¿?¿? Someone has any idea of what can be happening here? Thanks in advance.

  • Cocoa nextEventMatchingMask not receiving NSMouseMoved event

    - by Jonny
Hello, I created a local event loop and showed up a borderless window (derived from NSPanel), I found in the event loop there's no NSMouseMoved event received, although I can receive Mouse button down/up events. What should I do to get the NSMouseMoved events? I found making the float window as key window can receive the NSMouseMoved events, but I don't want to change key window. And it appears this is possible, because I found after clicking the test App Icon in System Dock Bar, I can receive the mousemoved events, and the key window/mainwindow are unchanged. Here's the my test code: (Create a Cocoa App project names FloatWindowTest, and put a button to link it with the onClick: IBAction). Thanks in advance! -Jonny #import "FloatWindowTestAppDelegate.h" @interface FloatWindow : NSPanel @end @interface FloatWindowContentView : NSView @end @implementation FloatWindowTestAppDelegate @synthesize window; - (void)delayedAction:(id)sender { // What does this function do? // 1. create a float window // 2. create a local event loop // 3. print out the events got from nextEventMatchingMask. // 4. send it to float window. // What is the problem? // In local event loop, althrough the event mask has set NSMouseMovedMask // there's no mouse moved messages received. // FloatWindow* floatWindow = [[FloatWindow alloc] init]; NSEvent* event = [NSApp currentEvent]; NSPoint screenOrigin = [[self window] convertBaseToScreen:[event locationInWindow]]; [floatWindow setFrameTopLeftPoint:screenOrigin]; [floatWindow orderFront:nil]; //Making the float window as Key window will work, however //change active window is not anticipated. //[floatWindow makeKeyAndOrderFront:nil]; BOOL done = NO; while (!done) { NSAutoreleasePool* pool = [NSAutoreleasePool new]; NSUInteger eventMask = NSLeftMouseDownMask| NSLeftMouseUpMask| NSMouseMovedMask| NSMouseEnteredMask| NSMouseExitedMask| NSLeftMouseDraggedMask; NSEvent* event = [NSApp nextEventMatchingMask:eventMask untilDate:[NSDate distantFuture] inMode:NSDefaultRunLoopMode dequeue:YES]; //why I cannot get NSMouseMoved event?? • Flex: Double click event propagation on datagrid dependent on component order?

    - by MyMacAndMe
    I'd like to have a double click event on a datagrid in Flex3. The following example only works if the Accordion (id = "mustBeSecond") container comes after the DataGrid. Why is the order of the components important and what can I do to prevent this behavior? (The example does not work. If you change the order of "mustBeSecond" and "gridReportConversions" the example works fine) <mx:Script> <![CDATA[ import mx.controls.Alert; import mx.collections.ArrayCollection; [Bindable] private var dp:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection([ {qty:1,referer:'http://google.com'}, {qty:25,referer:'http://cnn.com'}, {qty:4,referer:'http:stackoverflow.com'}]); private function refererRowDoubleClicked(e:Event):void { Alert.show("double click"); } ]]> </mx:Script> <mx:HBox width="100%" height="100%"> <mx:Accordion width="200" height="200" id="mustBeSecond"> <mx:Canvas label="Navigation Box" width="100%" height="100%"> <mx:VBox> <mx:LinkButton label="First Link" /> <mx:LinkButton label="Second Link" /> </mx:VBox> </mx:Canvas> </mx:Accordion> <mx:DataGrid id="gridReportConversions" height="100%" width="100%" dataProvider="{this.dp}" mouseEnabled="true" doubleClickEnabled="true" itemDoubleClick="refererRowDoubleClicked(event)"> <mx:columns> <mx:DataGridColumn width="75" dataField="qty" headerText="Qty" /> <mx:DataGridColumn dataField="referer" headerText="URL" /> </mx:columns> </mx:DataGrid> </mx:HBox>

  • missing event when using modules with requirejs

    - by ali haider
I had javascript code in a single JS file that was working fine (using XHR/AJAX). When I split it up into separate modules in a requirejs application, I do not seem to get a handle on the event object & it shows up as undefined (testing in firefox 29.0.1). Calling module: ajax.onreadystatechange = new ajaxResponse().handleAjaxResponse(e); ajaxResponse define(["require", './url/urlCommon'], function(require, urlCommon) { 'use strict'; var ajaxResponse = function() { var ajax = null; // e = event || window.event; this.handleAjaxResponse = function() { if (typeof event === 'undefined') { var event = event || window.event; } console.log('e is now:' + typeof e); I also do not have a handle on the event in the handleAjaxResponse method (error: undefined). Any thoughts on what I need to do to troubleshoot/fix this will be greatly appreciated.

  • firefox window.onerror event problem - alerts "Script error!" only

    - by powerboy
I use the window.onerror to alert javascript errors for debugging. window.onerror = function(msg, url, line) { alert(msg + '\nLine: ' + line); }; When an error is fired, it can alert this actual error message in IE. But in firefox, it just alerts "Script error!", but I can still see the actual error message in firefox's error console. I remembered several months ago when I worked on another project, firefox did not work like this. But I cannot get the code of that project currently. So I wonder what are the possible problems with this?

  • Restoring a "Canceled" event with Google Calendar API?

    - by user283182
I'm trying to change the status of an event back from "canceled" to "confirmed" using Google Calendar API (I'm using .NET but an answer in any language would help) but I get GDataRequestException error: "You can't modify a cancelled event" If I've used the API to delete an event in a repeating series, for example, is it possible to change the status of the resulting recurrence exception (there's no EXDATE, just a new "canceled" event that is only visible when the feed is requested with start and end date) to "confirmed" (or even delete the resulting exception completely) in order to restore the repeating series to the original state? event.Delete() and event.Update() don't even see the event any longer once it's been .canceled. event.Update() gives the above error. Thanks!

  • Raising C# events with an extension method - is it bad?

    - by Kyralessa
We're all familiar with the horror that is C# event declaration. To ensure thread-safety, the standard is to write something like this: public event EventHandler SomethingHappened; protected virtual void OnSomethingHappened(EventArgs e) { var handler = SomethingHappened; if (handler != null) handler(this, e); } Recently in some other question on this board (which I can't find now), someone pointed out that extension methods could be used nicely in this scenario. Here's one way to do it: static public class EventExtensions { static public void RaiseEvent(this EventHandler @event, object sender, EventArgs e) { var handler = @event; if (handler != null) handler(sender, e); } static public void RaiseEvent<T>(this EventHandler<T> @event, object sender, T e) where T : EventArgs { var handler = @event; if (handler != null) handler(sender, e); } } With these extension methods in place, all you need to declare and raise an event is something like this: public event EventHandler SomethingHappened; void SomeMethod() { this.SomethingHappened.RaiseEvent(this, EventArgs.Empty); } My question: Is this a good idea? Are we missing anything by not having the standard On method? (One thing I notice is that it doesn't work with events that have explicit add/remove code.)

  • Event type property lost in IE-8

    - by Channel72
I've noticed a strange Javascript error which only seems to happen on Internet Explorer 8. Basically, on IE-8 if you have an event handler function which captures the event object in a closure, the event "type" property seems to become invalidated from within the closure. Here's a simple code snippet which reproduces the error: <html> <head> <script type = "text/javascript"> function handleClickEvent(ev) { ev = (ev || window.event); alert(ev.type); window.setTimeout(function() { alert(ev.type); // Causes error on IE-8 }, 20); } function foo() { var query = document.getElementById("query"); query.onclick = handleClickEvent; } </script> </head> <body> <input id = "query" type = "submit"> <script type = "text/javascript"> foo(); </script> </body> </html> So basically, what happens here is that within the handleClickEvent function, we have the event object ev. We call alert(ev.type) and we see the event type is "click". So far, so good. But then when we capture the event object in a closure, and then call alert(ev.type) again from within the closure, now all of a sudden Internet Explorer 8 errors, saying "Member not found" because of the expression ev.type. It seems as though the type property of the event object is mysteriously gone after we capture the event object in a closure. I tested this code snippet on Firefox, Safari and Chrome, and none of them report an error condition. But in IE-8, the event object seems to become somehow invalidated after it's captured in the closure. Question: Why is this happening in IE-8, and is there any workaround?

  • wxPython: How to handle event binding and Show() properly.

    - by Gopal
Hi all, I'm just starting out with wxPython and this is what I would like to do: a) Show a Frame (with Panel inside it) and a button on that panel. b) When I press the button, a dialog box pops up (where I can select from a choice). c) When I press ok on dialog box, the dialog box should disappear (destroyed), but the original Frame+Panel+button are still there. d) If I press that button again, the dialog box will reappear. My code is given below. Unfortunately, I get the reverse effect. That is, a) The Selection-Dialog box shows up first (i.e., without clicking on any button since the TopLevelframe+button is never shown). b) When I click ok on dialog box, then the frame with button appears. c) Clicking on button again has no effect (i.e., dialog box does not show up again). What am I doing wrong ? It seems that as soon as the frame is initialized (even before the .Show() is called), the dialog box is initialized and shown automatically. I am doing this using Eclipse+Pydev on WindowsXP with Python 2.6 ============File:MainFile.py=============== import wx import MyDialog #This is implemented in another file: MyDialog.py class TopLevelFrame(wx.Frame): def __init__(self,parent,id): wx.Frame.__init__(self,parent,id,"Test",size=(300,200)) panel=wx.Panel(self) button=wx.Button(panel, label='Show Dialog', pos=(130,20), size=(60,20)) # Bind EVENTS --> HANDLERS. button.Bind(wx.EVT_BUTTON, MyDialog.start(self)) # Run the main loop to start program. if __name__=='__main__': app=wx.PySimpleApp() TopLevelFrame(parent=None, id=-1).Show() app.MainLoop() ============File:MyDialog.py=============== import wx def start(parent): inputbox = wx.SingleChoiceDialog(None,'Choose Fruit', 'Selection Title', ['apple','banana','orange','papaya']) if inputbox.ShowModal()==wx.ID_OK: answer = inputbox.GetStringSelection() inputbox.Destroy()

  • How to set the value of a wx.combobox by posting an event

    - by Adam Fraser
    The code below demonstrates the problem I am running into. I am creating a wx.ComboBox and trying to mimic it's functionality for testing purposes by posting a wxEVT_COMMAND_COMBOBOX_SELECTED event... this event strangely works fine for wx.Choice, but it doesn't do anything to the ComboBox. There doesn't appear to be a different event that I can post to the combobox, but maybe I'm missing something. I'm running this code on Python 2.5 on a Mac OSX 10.5.8 import wx app = wx.PySimpleApp() def on_btn(evt): event = wx.CommandEvent(wx.wxEVT_COMMAND_COMBOBOX_SELECTED,combobox.Id) event.SetEventObject(combobox) event.SetInt(1) event.SetString('bar') combobox.Command(event) app.ProcessPendingEvents() frame = wx.Frame(None) panel = wx.Panel(frame, -1) # This doesn't work combobox = wx.ComboBox(panel, -1, choices=['foo','bar']) # This works #combobox = wx.Choice(panel, -1, choices=['foo','bar']) combobox.SetSelection(0) btn = wx.Button(panel, -1, 'asdf') btn.Bind(wx.EVT_BUTTON, on_btn) sz = wx.BoxSizer() sz.Add(combobox) sz.Add(btn) panel.SetSizer(sz) frame.Show() app.MainLoop()

  • How to raise CComponent event in Yii

    - by srigi
    Let's assume I have Component (say Graph like Yahoo Finance) rendered on the page. Component view template contains bunch of a_hrefs which I wanto to switch period in graph. I created Event and Event handler in Component. I have two questions: How to raise event on Graph Component via those a_hrefs (should they be part of Graph?)? How to redraw Graph without loosing curent page context (section, filter - specified as $_GET values)? My Graph Component look like this: Yii::import('zii.widgets.CPortlet'); class Graph extends CPortlet { private $_period; /* ********************** * * COMPONENT PROPERTIES * * ********************** */ public function getPeriod() { return $this-_period; } public function setPeriod($period) { $this-_period = $period; } /* ********************** * * GENERIC * * ********************** */ public function init() { parent::init(); // assign event handlers $this-onPeriodChange = array($this, 'handlePeriodChange'); } protected function renderContent() { $this-render('graph'); } /* ********************** * * EVENTS * * ********************** */ public function onPeriodChange($event) { $this-raiseEvent('onPeriodChange', $event); } /* ********************** * * EVENT HANDLERS * * ********************** */ public function handlePeriodChange($event) { // CODE } }

  • threading.Event wait function not signaled when subclassing Process class

    - by user1313404
For following code never gets past the wait function in run. I'm certain I'm doing something ridiculously stupid, but since I'm not smart enough to figure out what, I'm asking. Any help is appreciated. Here is the code: import threading import multiprocessing from multiprocessing import Process class SomeClass(Process): def __init__(self): Process.__init__(self) self.event = threading.Event() self.event.clear() def continueExec(self): print multiprocessing.current_process().name print self print "Set:" + str(self.event.is_set()) self.event.set() print "Set:" + str(self.event.is_set()) def run(self): print "I'm running with it" print multiprocessing.current_process().name self.event.wait() print "I'm further than I was" print multiprocessing.current_process().name self.event.clear() def main(): s_list = [] for t in range(3): s = SomeClass() print "s:" + str(s) s_list.append(s) s.start() raw_input("Press enter to send signal") for t in range(3): print "s_list["+str(t)+"]:" + str(s_list[t]) s_list[t].continueExec() raw_input("Press enter to send signal") for t in range(3): s_list[t].join() print "All Done" if __name__ == "__main__": main()

  • Using Open MQ as an Oracle CEP Event Source

    - by seth.white
I helped an Oracle CEP customer recently who wanted to use Open MQ has an event source for their Oracle CEP application.  In this case, the Oracle CEP application was being used to provide monitoring for an electronic commerce website, however, the steps for configuring Open MQ are entirely independent of the application logic. I thought I would list the configuration steps in a blog post in case they might help others in the future. Note that although the Oracle CEP documentation states that only WebLogic and Tibco JMS are "officially" supported, any JMS implementation that provides a Java client should work with Oracle CEP. The first step is to add an adapter to the application's EPN. This can be done in the usual way, using the Eclipse IDE. The end result is something like the following bit of configuration in the application's Spring application context. Note that the provider attribute value of 'jms-inbound' specifies that the out-of-the-box JMS adapter is being used. <wlevs:adapter id="helloworldAdapter" provider="jms-inbound"> </wlevs:adapter>   Next, configure the inbound adapter so that it can connect to Open MQ in the Oracle CEP configuration file (config.xml). The snippet below provides an example of what this configuration should look like. The exact values specified for jndi-provider-url, jndi-factory, connection-jndi-name, destination-jndi-name elements will depend on your Open MQ configuration.  For example , if the name of your Open MQ topic destination is 'ElectronicCommerceTopic', then you would specify that as the destination-jndi-name.  The name of your Open MQ connection factory goes in the connection-jndi-name element. In my simple example, I also specify in event-type element so that the out-of-the-box JMS adapter will attempt to automatically convert incoming messages to events of type HelloWorldEvent. In a more complex application, one would configure a custom converter on the JMS adapter to convert from messages to events.  The Oracle CEP 11.1.3 documentation describes how to do this.   <jms-adapter> <name>helloworldAdapter</name> <event-type>HelloWorldEvent</event-type> <jndi-provider-url>file:///C:/Temp</jndi-provider-url> <jndi-factory>com.sun.jndi.fscontext.RefFSContextFactory</jndi-factory> <connection-jndi-name>YourJMSConnectionFactoryName</connection-jndi-name> <destination-jndi-name>YourJMSDestinationName</destination-jndi-name> </jms-adapter>   Finally, one needs to package the client-side Open MQ jars so that the classes that they contain are available to the Oracle CEP runtime. The recommended way for doing this in the Oracle CEP 11.1.3 release is to package the classes as a library module or simply place them in the application bundle.  The advantage of deploying the classes as a library module is that they are available to any application that wants to connect to Open MQ. In my case, I packaged the classes in my application bundle. A best practice when you want to include additional jars in your application bundle is to create a 'lib' directory in your Eclipse project and then copy the required jars into that directory.  Then, use the support that Eclipse provides to add the jars to the bundle classpath (which makes the classes part of your application in the same way that regular application classes are), and export all of the classes from your application bundle so that they are available to the Oracle CEP server runtime.  The screenshot below Illustrates how this is done in Eclipse.  The bundle classpath contains two Open MQ jars and all packages in the jars are exported.     Finally, import the javax.jms and javax.naming packages into the application module as these are needed by the Open MQ classes. The screenshot below shows the complete list of package imports for my sample application.       Once you have completed these steps, you should be able to build and deploy your application and begin receiving inbound messages from Open MQ. • Handling keyboard and mouse input (Win API)

    - by Deluxe
There is a number of ways to catch mouse or keyboard under Windows. So I tried some of them, but every of them has some advantages and drawbacks. I want to ask you: Which method do use? I've tried these: WM_KEYDOWN/WM_KEYUP - Main disadvantage is that, I can't distinguish between left and right-handed keys like ALT, CONTROL or SHIFT. GetKeyboardState - This solves problem of first method, but there is new one. When I get that the Right-ALT key is pressed, I also get that the Left-Control key is down. This behaviour happens only when using localized keyboard layout (Czech - CS). WM_INPUT (Raw Input) - This method also doesn't distinguish left and right-handed keys (if I can remember) and for mouse movement sometimes generates message with zero delta values of mouse position.

  • Try and catch error trapping. why is it so significant

    - by oded
sorry if it sounds dumb ' as i am i a process of learnning java i try to understand , why on earth i should "try" a method to catch errors. it looks to me like the concept is:- ' letting a process run assuming its not properly developed. should i always assume that a program based on classes and inheritance is bound for unexpected errors, which i should handle with such a heavy tools like try catch throw throws ? should all java programs be included withing try catch framework? Thanks Oded.

  • Handling WCF Service Paths in Silverlight 4 – Relative Path Support

    - by dwahlin
If you’re building Silverlight applications that consume data then you’re probably making calls to Web Services. We’ve been successfully using WCF along with Silverlight for several client Line of Business (LOB) applications and passing a lot of data back and forth. Due to the pain involved with updating the ServiceReferences.ClientConfig file generated by a Silverlight service proxy (see Tim Heuer’s post on that subject to see different ways to deal with it) we’ve been using our own technique to figure out the service URL. Going that route makes it a peace of cake to switch between development, staging and production environments. To start, we have a ServiceProxyBase class that handles identifying the URL to use based on the XAP file’s location (this assumes that the service is in the same Web project that serves up the XAP file). The GetServiceUrlBase() method handles this work: public class ServiceProxyBase { public ServiceProxyBase() { if (!IsDesignTime) { ServiceUrlBase = GetServiceUrlBase(); } } public string ServiceUrlBase { get; set; } public static bool IsDesignTime { get { return (Application.Current == null) || (Application.Current.GetType() == typeof (Application)); } } public static string GetServiceUrlBase() { if (!IsDesignTime) { string url = Application.Current.Host.Source.OriginalString; return url.Substring(0, url.IndexOf("/ClientBin", StringComparison.InvariantCultureIgnoreCase)); } return null; } } Silverlight 4 now supports relative paths to services which greatly simplifies things.  We changed the code above to the following: public class ServiceProxyBase { private const string ServiceUrlPath = "../Services/JobPlanService.svc"; public ServiceProxyBase() { if (!IsDesignTime) { ServiceUrl = ServiceUrlPath; } } public string ServiceUrl { get; set; } public static bool IsDesignTime { get { return (Application.Current == null) || (Application.Current.GetType() == typeof (Application)); } } public static string GetServiceUrl() { if (!IsDesignTime) { return ServiceUrlPath; } return null; } } Our ServiceProxy class derives from ServiceProxyBase and handles creating the ABC’s (Address, Binding, Contract) needed for a WCF service call. Looking through the code (mainly the constructor) you’ll notice that the service URI is created by supplying the base path to the XAP file along with the relative path defined in ServiceProxyBase:   public class ServiceProxy : ServiceProxyBase, IServiceProxy { private const string CompletedEventargs = "CompletedEventArgs"; private const string Completed = "Completed"; private const string Async = "Async"; private readonly CustomBinding _Binding; private readonly EndpointAddress _EndPointAddress; private readonly Uri _ServiceUri; private readonly Type _ProxyType = typeof(JobPlanServiceClient); public ServiceProxy() { _ServiceUri = new Uri(Application.Current.Host.Source, ServiceUrl); var elements = new BindingElementCollection { new BinaryMessageEncodingBindingElement(), new HttpTransportBindingElement { MaxBufferSize = 2147483647, MaxReceivedMessageSize = 2147483647 } }; // order of entries in collection is significant: dumb _Binding = new CustomBinding(elements); _EndPointAddress = new EndpointAddress(_ServiceUri); } #region IServiceProxy Members /// <summary> /// Used to call a WCF service operation. /// </summary> /// <typeparam name="T">The type of EventArgs that will be returned by the service operation.</typeparam> /// <param name="callback">The method to call once the WCF call returns (the callback).</param> /// <param name="parameters">Any parameters that the service operation expects.</param> public void CallService<T>(EventHandler<T> callback, params object[] parameters) where T : EventArgs { try { var proxy = new JobPlanServiceClient(_Binding, _EndPointAddress); string action = typeof (T).Name.Replace(CompletedEventargs, String.Empty); _ProxyType.GetEvent(action + Completed).AddEventHandler(proxy, callback); _ProxyType.InvokeMember(action + Async, BindingFlags.InvokeMethod, null, proxy, parameters); } catch (Exception exp) { MessageBox.Show("Unable to use ServiceProxy.CallService to retrieve data: " + exp.Message); } } #endregion } The relative path support for calling services in Silverlight 4 definitely simplifies code and is yet another good reason to move from Silverlight 3 to Silverlight 4.   For more information about onsite, online and video training, mentoring and consulting solutions for .NET, SharePoint or Silverlight please visit http://www.thewahlingroup.com.

  • Bash history handling with multiple terminals

    - by zetah
I use mainly Terminator, and it's usually opened with 3 split terminal windows. I also use Gnome terminal for various reasons. I'm wondering how is bash history handled in this case as I sometimes miss previously issued commands when I run history For example, my prompt shows current bash history line (\!) and if I launch Terminator with 3 split terminal windows I get same history line (let's say 100) on all terminals. Which history will be saved? Also launching Gnome Terminal after using Terminator I get line 100 at startup regardless all commands issued before in Terminator

  • One Exception to Aggregate Them All

    - by João Angelo
    .NET 4.0 introduced a new type of exception, the AggregateException which as the name implies allows to aggregate several exceptions inside a single throw-able exception instance. It is extensively used in the Task Parallel Library (TPL) and besides representing a simple collection of exceptions can also be used to represent a set of exceptions in a tree-like structure. Besides its InnerExceptions property which is a read-only collection of exceptions, the most relevant members of this new type are the methods Flatten and Handle. The former allows to flatten a tree hierarchy removing the need to recur while working with an aggregate exception. For example, if we would flatten the exception tree illustrated in the previous figure the result would be: The other method, Handle, accepts a predicate that is invoked for each aggregated exception and returns a boolean indicating if each exception is handled or not. If at least one exception goes unhandled then Handle throws a new AggregateException containing only the unhandled exceptions. The following code snippet illustrates this behavior and also another scenario where an aggregate exception proves useful – single threaded batch processing. static void Main() { try { ConvertAllToInt32("10", "x1x", "0", "II"); } catch (AggregateException errors) { // Contained exceptions are all FormatException // so Handle does not thrown any exception errors.Handle(e => e is FormatException); } try { ConvertAllToInt32("1", "1x", null, "-2", "#4"); } catch (AggregateException errors) { // Handle throws a new AggregateException containing // the exceptions for which the predicate failed. // In this case it will contain a single ArgumentNullException errors.Handle(e => e is FormatException); } } private static int[] ConvertAllToInt32(params string[] values) { var errors = new List<Exception>(); var integers = new List<int>(); foreach (var item in values) { try { integers.Add(Int32.Parse(item)); } catch (Exception e) { errors.Add(e); } } if (errors.Count > 0) throw new AggregateException(errors); return integers.ToArray(); }

  • jQuery Ajax Error Handling – How To Show Custom Error Messages

    - by schnieds
So you want to make your error feedback nice for your users…Kind of an ironic statement isn’t it? We obviously want to avoid errors if at all possible in our applications, but when errors do occur then we want to provide some nice feedback to our users. The worst thing that can happen is to blow up a huge server exception page when something goes wrong or equally bad is not providing any feedback at all and leaving the user in the dark. Although I do not recommend displaying actual .NET Framework exception messages or stack traces to the user in most instances; they are usually not helpful to the user and can be a security concern.... • Handling special characters with FOR XML PATH('')

    - by Rob Farley
Because I hate seeing &gt; or &amp; in my results… Since SQL Server 2005, we’ve been able to use FOR XML PATH('') to do string concatenation. I’ve blogged about it before several times. But I don’t think I’ve blogged about the fact that it all goes a bit wrong if you have special characters in the strings you’re concatenating. Generally, I don’t even worry about this. I should, but I don’t, particularly when the solution is so easy. Suppose I want to concatenate the list of user databases...(read more)

  • Handling EJB/JPA exceptions in a “beautiful” way

    - by Rodrigues, Raphael
In order to handle JPA exceptions, there are some ways already detailed in lots of blogs. Here, I intend to show one of them, which I consider kind of “beauty”. My use case has a unique constraint, when the User try to create a duplicate value in database. The JPA throws a java.sql.SQLIntegrityConstraintViolationException, and I have to catch it and replace the message. In fact, ADF Business Components framework already has a beautiful solution for this very well documented here . However, for EJB/JPA there's no similar approach. In my case, what I had to do was: 1. Create a custom Error Handler Class in DataBindings file; a. Here is how you accomplish it. 2. Override the reportException method and check if the type of exception exists on property file a. If yes, I change the message and rethrows the exception b. If not, go on the execution The main goal of this approach is whether a new or unhandled Exception was raised, the job is, only create a single entry in bundle property file. Here are pictures step by step: 1. CustomExceptionHandler.java 2. Databindings.cpx 3. Bundle file 4. jspx: 5. Stacktrace: Give your opinion, what did you think about that?
