  • How do I login to SQL Server without having to use "Run as Administrator" when starting Management S

    When I start Management Studio, unless I use the "Run as Administrator" selection, I cannot login to my local SQL Server. Is this normal? I am a normal developer and don't believe I have a need for high security on my local machine. I'm running SQL Server 2008, Windows 7. The error I get is: Cannot connect to (local) Additional Information Login failed for user 'MYCOMPUTER\MyName'. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 18456)

    I am the guy that was closest to the server :( and am actually a developer. I am getting this error, There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request, when a machine on the domain is trying to be accessed from other machines from the network. Accessing other machines from this machine works as expected. How should I go about to fix this? We are running a Windows Server 2003 and XP Pro clients.

    In my office I have 4 computers connected to the Internet with a DIR-615 Wireless N 300 router which gives Internet to all pc's via Ethernet cable. But sometimes this Internet goes off and I have to call the ISP and it takes them 2 days to repair it. I wanted to know if in such cases, can I connect my two zte 3g usb modems to this DIR-615 Wirless N300 router and get emergency Internet in my office? What other steps are required to set up this fail-safe connection?

  • Cage nuts - which way to insert them?

    Cage nuts can be inserted (in square holes) either with the flaps horizontal or vertical. I've seen and used both methods, but am still not sure which is best. Is there a recommended way of inserting them? If so, why is it the best way? From my own experience, the horizontal way (on the left) seems slightly better for no other reason than making it easier to insert or pry out the cage nut in a full rack (with the units above and below being populated), for example when replacing cage nuts with a snap-in rail.   • Unable to open Synaptic manager, unable to install packages, what can I do?

    I have installed the sun java6-jdk package but it's not installed completely. After that it's giving an error when I try to install a new package. In terminal when I write "sudo apt-get install [any package name]" I get an error like this: E: could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock -open (11 Resource temporable ) E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg). Also Synaptic package manager is not opening and none of the packages are downloading through any of the methods I know. Please help!

    When I record a movie in Windows Media Center, it records it again every time it shows up in the Guide listings again - days, weeks, or months later. The movies are not listed as a Series (Recorded TV - Schedules - Series). I found many matches for this problem on Google, and no solutions. Windows XP SP3 w/all current updates; MCE 2005 w/all current updates.

    hi, i will get an ibm x3500 in the next days and wondered which linux i should use. i tend to use ubuntu 10.04 server, haven't heard anything bad about it and i'm a big debian fan. there will be a raid 5 powered by the ibm hardware raid controller (don't know which one). is it possible to monitor and manage it wit hthe ubuntu 10.04 server distro? or should i go another way and choose something like redhat (haven't used it though...)? thanks in advance regards

    I just downloaded Cygwin, I've never used it before cause I've always used putty. Cygwin is not letting me compile; I can see the files but it just doesn't let me compile and I do not understand why, am I doing something wrong?     I've a citrix server where multiple users use a multiple java application. Is there a way to reduce the memory footprint of the jvm itself? The max heap is already set fairly low (64MB), as the permgen (32MB) space and we're to the point that the jvm itself uses way more memory than the application itself (the committed area is around 350MB) I'm looking for a way to reduce the jvm ram usage or to make the all the applications run within the same jvm or any other way of sharing common pages between running jvm (if possible) or try switch to switch to a jvm if a jvm exists having optimizations relative to this scenario currently using windows 2003 server and sun java virtual machine 1.6

    I installed xampp back around January 2009, and CF8 to test coldfusion on my macbook (note: I do not think that this issue is related to CF, but only xampp). I only ever used the apache part of xampp, and this was working for over a year. In the last couple of months at the most I've started getting the following error message (even for none CF sites, and non .cfm pages, the error occurs for .html files..): Access forbidden!     I'm taking to putting various files in /tmp, and I wondered what the rules on deleting them are? I'm imagining it's different for different distributions, and I'm particularly interested in Ubuntu and Fedora desktop versions. But a nice general way of finding out would be a great thing. Even better would be a nice general way of controlling it! (Something like 'every day at 3 in the morning, delete any /tmp files older than 60 days, but don't clear the directory on reboot')

    Hi there I'm a developer looking at introducing ClickOnce deployment for an internal .NET Winforms application that will be distributed via the corporate network. Currently the product roll out and updates are handled by Group Policy however I would like to control the updates via ClickOnce deployment now. What I would like to know is, how should I initially roll out the package to make sure that all users have got it. Can I use a combination of Group Policy (the roll out) and then rely on the ClickOnce deployment model for any further updates?

    When trying to install SQL Server 2008 Developer and Enterprise editions on a Windows 7 box I've got this message: Rule "Restart computer" failed. A computer restart is required. You must restart this computer before installing SQL Server. Of course I already restarted 10 times. I've found a post in a forum saying that I should clear HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\PendingFileRenameOperations but I don't have such a key.

  • Server unable to communicate OUT, fine serving traffic

    We have several servers that are randomly loses the ability to communicate out to other nodes on the local network and internet. However websites are being served fine and we still have ssh access. A reboot seems to fix the problem for a few days. The servers are running 10.5.X and are fully up to date with software updates. Does anyone have any opinions, we think it is probably an ISP router, but we are guessing. Cheers Jono

    I'm not a DBA, I'm a developer - and I'm having trouble with SQL Server Management studio. I installed SQL Server 2008 Standard on Windows 2008 Server R2, and according to Sql Server Configuration Manager, I've got two instances: OFFICESERVERS (for sharepoint) and MSSQLSERVER. When I open SQL Server Management Studio I can only discover OFFICESERVERS. I've checked the protocol configuration for both instances and didn't see anything that indicates to me why this would be. Any hints?

  • Is there anyway way to speed up Exchange 2007's Load Generator tool?

    I'm running Load Generator to test our new deployment before going live and the initialization process has been running for two days and is only at 25% for ~58000 user test. Does anyone know of a way to speed up this process? Surely it shouldn't take this long. Currently, I've got it running with one master and two remote servers and they aren't peaking out on CPU or Network utilization. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

  • GF 3.0.1 + Virtual Server: www.myhost.com:8080/projectname-war => www.myhost.com. How?

    I need to change www.myhost.com:8080/myproject-war to www.myhost.com. This is what I try. In admin console in Glassfish 3.0.1, I create a http-listener-3 with port 9090 and address 0.0.0.0 (I want to have port 80, but got access-denied or some sort). I then create a virtual server call scholar, with Id=scholar, Hosts=${com.sun.aas.hostName}, Network Listeners: http-listener-3, Default Web Module=project#project-war.war(it is the only option from the drop down list since I only deploy 1 app). Then under Applications, I set the virtual server of the application to be scholar. Save and restart. I try localhost:9090, and expecting that it will load my project like as if I type localhost:9090/project-war. But it does not. I already set the Default Web Module, to be the project, why doesnt it load the project by default?
