[jquery] editableText plugin enabling problem

Hi, I've been experimenting with this plugin http://valums.com/edit-in-place/, so far so good... But i ran into this problem. I want to update my page when update or new request to save data is sent but if i update this function(edit-in-place) it will add second set of buttons, third, fourth and so on. How could i tell it that it would update just on that returned data, but not all elements? I have an idea it has to do something with each function of jquerys, but I'm not sure as I'm quite new to jquery. Thanks for any help!

What's the best way to use SOAP with Ruby?

A client of mine has asked me to integrate a 3rd party API into their Rails app. The only problem is that the API uses SOAP. Ruby has basically dropped SOAP in favor of REST. They provide a Java adapter that apparently works with the Java-Ruby bridge, but we'd like to keep it all in Ruby, if possible. I looked into soap4r, but it seems to have a slightly bad reputation. So what's the best way to integrate SOAP calls into a Rails app?

I have two web applications (A) and (B). (A) is my primary web application. (B) is purely for content storage, such as file uploads by users of (A). What's best way to securely retrieve data from (B) into (A) but in a way that does not expose the data in (B) to potential discovery by third-parties over the public internet or nosy users of (A)? For example, if I use a HTML form POST from (A) to (B) to retrieve user data, and have a hidden form field called user_id=1, then someone could simply change this to user_id=2 and see the content owned by another user of the application. That would be a problem.

Hello, In asp.net is it a requirement to rebuild the whole page during every callback? For example my web page is split into three distinct areas and I have an update panel for each area. Lets say I want to update the third area, do I have to bother with any processing of the other two areas? For example lets say there is a grid view in area two. How to organise a many to many relationship in MongoDB

I have two tables/collections; Users and Groups. A user can be a member of any number of groups and a user can also be an owner of any number of groups. In a relational database I'd probably have a third table called UserGroups with a UserID column, a GroupID column and an IsOwner column. I'm using MongoDB and I'm sure there is a different approach for this kind of relationship in a document database. Should I embed the list of groups and groups-as-owner inside the Users table as two arrays of ObjectIDs? Should I also store the list of members and owners in the Groups table as two arrays, effectively mirroring the relationship causing a duplication of relationship information? Or is a bridging UserGroups table a legitimate concept in document databases for many to many relationships? Thanks

Dynamically creating/inserting into an associative array in PHP

I'm trying to build an associative array in PHP dynamically, and not quite getting my strategy right. Basically, I want to insert a value at a certain depth in the array structure, for instance: $array['first']['second']['third'] = $val; Now, the thing is, I'm not sure if that depth is available, and if it isn't, I want to create the keys (and arrays) for each level, and finally insert the value at the correct level. Since I'm doing this quite a lot in my code, I grew tired of doing a whole bunch of "array_key_exists", so I wanted to do a function that builds the array for me, given a list of the level keys. Any help on a good strategy for this is appreciated. I'm sure there is a pretty simple way, I'm just not getting it...

Best approach to update a control after an Ajax request?

I have a webpage that fires off an Ajax request which stores some data to a database and I want to update the webpage so that the user can see their changes have been submitted. There are at least 3 ways I can think of accomplishing this: Immediately update the webpage with plain JavaScript by grabbing the contents of the user's inputted text and immediately inserting it where it belongs. Have the ajax call return the stored text as the response, grab the response, and then insert this text where it belongs on the page using JavaScript Have the ajax call return a flag (say, true for successful db write, false otherwise), and if the flag is true, use JavaScript to grab the user's contents from the input control and insert it where it belongs elsewhere on the page Or another method not mentioned...? I don't mean this to be subjective, I just don't know which would be the best method to apply. My instinct tells me to go with the third item (return a flag, then update the field). Is this the best way? Thanks

What causes Python "Interpreter not Initialized" error?

I'm now on my third full day this week of trying to get OpenCV to work with Python. (I have been trying on and off for the past 6 months). Any ideas from anyone who actually knows about this error?

HTML, CSS: how can I merge these divs in order to use float:left property on their children ?

hi, I've 2 sets of thumbnails and in each set I'm displaying them one nearby each other in 4 columns using float:left. I would like to "merge" the 2 sets (but I cannot change the html code) because I want the thumbnails of the second set floating right after the last thumbnail of the first set. In other terms, if in the last row there are only 2 thumbnails and the last 2 columns are empty, the thumbnails of the second set should fill the empty columns of the last row of the first set. C++ obtaining milliseconds time on Linux -- clock() doesn't seem to work properly

On Windows, clock() returns the time in milliseconds, but on this Linux box I'm working on, it rounds it to the nearest 1000 so the precision is only to the "second" level and not to the milliseconds level. I found a solution with Qt using the QTime class, instantiating an object and calling start() on it then calling elapsed() to get the number of milliseconds elapsed. I got kind of lucky because I'm working with Qt to begin with, but I'd like a solution that doesn't rely on third party libraries, Is there no standard way to do this? UPDATE Please don't recommend Boost .. If Boost and Qt can do it, surely it's not magic, there must be something standard that they're using!

When my site is required from within that iframe I would like to modify the content (remove header, filter data, etc.). What better way to do this? Is there any way of knowing that the request is being made from an iframe? Install the proper bitness Visual C++ Runtime Library via a Setup project

Hi all! The context: I have a solution that contains amongh other C# projects, a VC++ project that suports compiling only as x64 or Win32 (but not Any CPU). In order for the application (which in fact is a macro for a third party application) to run, it requires Visual C++ Runtime libraries (x86) or (x64) (The macro will run on both x64 and x86 operating systems.) The problem: I want to create a Visual Studio setup project that would install the macro on both x86 and x64 operating systems, and the problem I have is to specify what Visual C++ Runtime library to use a prerequisite. If both are selected (x64 and x86) than I have a runtime error message when running the setup.exe, as on x86 operating systems you cannot run x64 executables like the Visual C++ Runtime libraries (x64) kit is...(which the setup calls in the back). So I would need a bitness condition, or something like that to tell the setup what bitness version of the Visual C++ Runtime library to try to install...I'm not sure if this is possible, or even where such a code should be placed in the setup. In this library i have a class like this public class TestClass { public int TestField { get; private set; } public TestClass( ) { TestField = 1; } } Then i have a varialbe form this class like this public TestClass test = new TestClass( ); The problem i am facing is that usnig reflection like this PropertyInfo field = typeof( TestClass ).GetProperty( "TestField" ); field.SetValue( test, 2, null ); programers can change internal value of this class. this will be very bad thing becouse it can crash the hole library. My question is what is the best way to protect my code form such changes.I know i can use some kind of bool flag so tha value can be changed only ones but this is not very good salution is there a better one? Question: Can I some how set FlushMode to ALWAYS in session factory or somewhere else to avoid repeating session.flush() call? All DB calls in DAO goes with HibernateTemplate instance. How can I change ruby log level in unit tests based on context

I'm new to ruby so forgive me if this is simple or I get some terminology wrong. I've got a bunch of unit tests (actually they're integration tests for another project, but they use ruby test/unit) and they all include from a module that sets up an instance variable for the log object. When I run the individual tests I'd like log.level to be debug, but when I run a suite I'd like log.level to be error. Is it possible to do this with the approach I'm taking, or does the code need to be restructured? Here's a small example of what I have so far. RSpec: in-depth differences between before(:all) and before(:each)

Ok, so I've ran into a very strange issue, directly connected with before blocks. I'm doing a integration testing via Watir and RSpec. For a simple test to check if user can perform a login I'm creating a 'user' record in the db by means of factory_girl. So I put the following code: before(:each) do @user = Factory(:user) end if "should perform a login" do # do stuff end In do stuff I call a browser and see how the user tries to login. Unfortunately, somehow he cannot do that — "Username isn't valid". After some investigation I discovered that if I put the code for creating user in before(:all) block, everything magically works. How's that? What's the difference between :all and :each in this context? Also, If I put the code for creating user actually in the test body, it still doesn't work (i.e. user somehow isn't added to the DB or something).

iOS Downloading Videos and saving in Application Support folder

In my application, i've to download videos around 10 to my application and play accordingly. Each video is around 50 MB. I'm using following code and then after downloading the video, i'm saving it to Application support folder to avoid icloud sync. But the problem is that when downloading the videos its crashing. [NSURLConnection sendAsynchronousRequest:req queue:[[NSOperationQueue alloc] init] completionHandler:^(NSURLResponse *response, NSData *rcvdDat, NSError * err) { . . . } What I'm thinking is that, while downloading the video, it resides in memory and so the total memory occupying by the app is increasing. Finally iOS is making the app to close. I would like to download the video and when ever a stream of data received, write to temp file and when completes move it to application support folder. Can some one help me on how to write it to file and save it at the end? I cannot use 3rd party libraries (unless its small) due to legal issues.

I've got a text file with an arbitrary number of lines, e.g.: one line some other line an additional line one more here I'd like to write a script to reorder those lines based on a given order. e.g. An input of 2 1 3 4 would swap the first and second lines. An input of 3 1 2 4 would put the 3rd line first, the 1st line second, the 2nd line third and keep the 4th line fourth. I could hack something together, but I'm wondering if there's an elegant solution? I can use either bash or ksh.

Suppose a class Y publicly inherits a class X. Is it possible for a class Z to privately inherit Y while publicly inheriting X? To make this clearer, suppose X defines public methods x1 and x2. Y inherits X, overrides x1 and provides a method y. Does C++ allow for a third class Z to subclass Y in such a way that Y's implementation of x1 and y are privately available to it, while the outside world only sees it inheriting X publicly, i.e. having only a single public method x2?

According to Microsoft's "It just works policy" the IDE is no longer supported after april 8th 2008 It still works to develop and deploy vb 6 apps. The question is: When will it be impossible to support vb6 applications, or will they live forever like Cobol applications do? Update: Microsoft statement march 2010: The Visual Basic team is committed to “It Just Works” compatibility for Visual Basic 6.0 applications on Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 including R2, and Windows 7.

Determining if an offset is in between line numbers?

hi I need to determine if a given selection is in between a start line and an end line. I have an ILineRange and a given offset within the viewport of eclipse. (I need to know, if the selection (from a remote party) was made within the current viewport of the local user. Unfortunately, I cannot get an LineRange from the selection. I must rely on getOffset() and getLength()... Anyone has an idea? I think there is not a clean solution for this, as the offset (or the characters per line vary (new line lines or a big block of comment).
