Is their a way on Mac OS X to sync a folder on my computer with Google Documents now that Docs supports all file types?
A lot like the functionality of DropBox.
We have a monitoring tool called SCOM which mainly monitors different OS related services .However, we being part of storage team would also like some of our services to be monitored.
We have HP NAS , and I am wondering what all services I can ask the other team to monitor for us and alert us if something goes wrong.
The same goes with celerra and centera what important services can be monitored .I did search but to no avail.I ‘m not finding any of the useful services..Any help in this regard is greatly appreaciated
thanks!
Like any other Apple product, OS X prides itself on the little details. When, earlier last week, I used my professor's Mac briefly to give a quick project presentation (mine decided to do a chkdsk at the wrong time, heh), I got the distinct feeling some were put intentionally to make the uninitiated look stupid.
What are the small usability details that Windows and Linux users will trip on when their Mac using friend lend them their beloved Mac for some quick web browsing?
I restarted my system today and after logging in, i could see see nothing but a black screen with mouse pointer. I can start task manager via alt+ctrl+del, Task manager and msconfig show fine but when i try to run 'explorer' nothing happens.
In safe mode everything seems fine.
I do not have any system restore points and repair options from the DVD show "this option is not available for the selected OS"
I've also updated my graphic drivers. Didn't help
i'm thinking about converting my OS (ubuntu) to the 64 bit version to use the last bit of memory (4 gb)—ok, it's rather reinstalling …
will this work as expected or are there possible limits given by the mainboard/memory controller/some other component, so i cannot fully utilize my full ram? if so, are there benefits from upgrading anyway?
I would like my external drives to be readable and writable from Linux, Mac OS X and Windows.
FAT32 works, but the 4 GB file size limit is a showstopper these days. Are there any alternatives?
Hello
I have a large RAR file (split up) containing an ISO on my 2nd HDD
When I extract it:
to the same HDD, it's OK
to the system/OS SSD, I get CRC errors
I've checked memory, run memtests, checked wires etc
I have no other issues; only with this one RAR file
Any ideas please?
I have Windows XP OS. C: Drive has 7 Gb disk space out of that I can see only 4 GB are occopied. Currently only 265 MB are free space showing. I am not sure how to retrive remaining 3 GB space. Can any one have any idea.

Is there a way I can get this behavior on Mac OS?
alt + right-click-drag will resize the window, relative to where you've clicked within the window and the window's center
alt + left-click-drag will move the window, regardless of where you've clicked within the window.
There's a Windows port of this behavior as well: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/DLL/wm.aspx
To facilitate automation of guest VM provisioning, how do I set (in a script) the IP address on a guest VM's NIC (or NIC's) once a new VM has booted?
Is there a way to "inject" netsh commands via the Citrix guest OS tools (for Windows for example) once the host has started?
Or can this be done via the Citrix API/SDK or the xe tools?
These are windows 2008 servers that have been sysprep'd so when the boot for the first time they have no IP address.
Is there any way to 'include' another file within the /etc/hosts file? Particularly I want to include a non-protected (-rw-rw-rw) file so I can easily edit it in something like TextMate without having to issue sudo vi /etc/hosts
I'm on OS X, but as far as I know, this should be relevant in other *nix OSs.
I have my VPS now, with ubuntu 9.10 OS.
I wonder about SSH.
What is it for, and how do I use it?
Also, in which order should I install apps on my server? (ex: PuTTY, IPTABLES, LAMP etc...)?
Thanks
I see there are thousands of files in my "/tmp" directory (a CentOS machine) and almost all of them are PHP session files.
I'm worried about the possible impact this might have on my system.
Are those files ever deleted either by the OS, Apache or PHP? or I have to take care of it myself?
Hi,
my OS is Windows Server 2003.
I installed the FTP Service and configure it with the IIS 6.0 Console.
When I deactivate my firewall, all its okay, but when not, I can't get a connection.
Port 21 tcp + udp, port 22 tcp + udp and the whole FTP-Server Application is set as go trouhgt, but don't work. Of course, the FTP ruins on 21.
Any ideas
My Sony Vaio laptop has a built-in program called "Sony Battery Care" which provides a functionality to hold battery at certain levels of charge while operating. For example, I've set it to 50% and the battery is always kept at that level while on AC power. This mode prevents battery degradation and is more effective as I usually use my laptop with AC power.
I'm looking for a similar program to use with other laptops with Windows OS; preferably a free one.
I have a multiline equation which I wish to align on the '=' and center the equation block on the page.
I have selected align on '=' and center as a group, however the equation group becomes left justified on the page (and aligned on the =). No matter what I do I cannot get it to concurrently center the group on the page and also align on the '='.
Does anyone know what setting at what level would cause this type of behavior?
(I'm using MS Word 2011 on OS X 10.8)
I was able to share my laptop's internet with my smartphone by using this command "netsh wlan start hostednetwork".
But when I installed Avast in my Windows 8 OS, I am able to start the hostednetwork as before and my smartphone also finds the virtual AP but still I can't use internet on the smartphone.
It's like the internet sharing has been disabled by the Antivirus.
How do I tell Avast that its okay to use the hostednetwork?

I have no OS installed, and I am trying to use a linux boot disc. However it is not a linux problem....if I just leave the computer on at the no operating system found message, it still turns off.
I thought maybe it was overheating, but I am 90% sure that is not the problem.
What else could cause this?
Hi there,
I just stumbled across this Airfoil on Mac OS X, which lets me 'throw' music from my laptop to any other linux machine, iPhone or other device hooked up to a better set of speakers than my laptop - here's the page below:
http://www.rogueamoeba.com/airfoil/mac/
What tools would I use to recreate this functionality on a linux box - are there any nice GUI interfaces to something like pulse audio (which is what I imagine I'd use ) for doing this?
Thanks
Hyper-Threading Technology makes a
single physical processor appear as two logical
processors; the physical execution resources are shared
and the architecture state is duplicated for the two
logical processors.
So, this means that there are two sets of basic registers such as Next Instruction Pointer, processor registers like AX, BX, CX etc physically embedded in the micro-processor chip,
OR they(arch. state) are made to look two sets by some low level duplication by software/OS.
I'm running OS X 10.6.8 on a MacBook Pro 13" 2011 version, trying to use Dropbox 1.4.7 Camera Upload. When I connect my Sony HDR-XR260 video camera or my Blackberry Torch 9800 via USB or even an SD card via the built-in reader, Dropbox never recognizes any of it and the pop-up dialog box never pops up to ask me if I want to import my videos or not. I do have the option enabled in DB preferences.
Any solutions?
I have an app GotYou.app in Mac, which seems to be a single file(I know it is not, but appears to be so). And we can just drag and drop it into the iTunes in Mac. But when i copied it into windows OS for copying that into another iTunes - It appears to be a small file along with a folder. How can I copy this itunes so that I can install this into an iPhone?
Is there a way to force a restart after a set amount time unless the machine boots into OS properly?
It seems like a watchdog card is the way to go, any recommendations for a card or solution is appreciated.
