• Ubuntu Server Cannot Route to the Internet

  I've been having this problem for weeks now, and I can't seem to figure out the problem. My server can route the local network and serves it well, however it cannot access the internet. It can't be the router because everything else on this lan can route through the router. I've even switched the ethernet port. Any help would be appreciated. • Operation times out trying to SSH outside LAN i.e. from internet to LAN no connection is established

  I run Ubuntu 12.04 and have no success connecting with SSH from "Internet". The router is a TL-MR3420 which is set up to forward requests to one of the NIC's on ubuntu machine (which has in total 3 NICs). I can SSH from a client on the "local" network/LAN. The forward mechanism in the router seems to work. If I stop SSH service on the Ubuntu machine and instead start one on the windows machine - it works like a charm. I do not use the Std port 22 but that shouldn't be an issue as far as I understand - sine it works on the same port on the win machine. Since my public IS isn't static I use a dynDNS service but as said earlier the same setup works from the win machine. The router is located on 192.168.0.1 The Ubuntu NICs has the following IP: eth2 192.168.0.100 , eth1 192.168.0.101 , eth0 192.168.0.102 and I have forwarded the "outside" request to 192.168.0.100 In regards for firewall settings on the Ubuntu machine I have disabled the ufw and the command ufw status give status: inactive. I don't now it this is relevant information but teh command iptables --list give: Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT) target prot opt source destination Chain FORWARD (policy ACCEPT) target prot opt source destination Chain OUTPUT (policy ACCEPT) target prot opt source destination I have tried to catch traffic with help of wireshark (a tool I'm not too used to use) and it seems as a few (3?) "requests" actually reaches the NIC but ... nothing happens. The syslog does not show any entries during these attempts. Perhaps it could be some routing issues but I have reached my level of competence and are stuck ... all help and support to get this sorted out is much appreciated. I'm new to Linux so please do not assume I have a configuration that is correct - but as I wrote earlier - if the client that initiate SSH is on the LAN it all works. PS:I have also tried to get VPN (PPP) working from Internet with no success - once again VPN works on the windows machine ... so my best guess is that this is related to how the ubuntu machine handles (IP) traffic and not the TL-MR3420 router or other network issues.

• loading js files and other dependent js files asynchronously

  I'm looking for a clean way to asynchronously load the following types of javascript files: a "core" js file (hmm, let's just call it, oh i don't know, "jquery!" haha), x number of js files that are dependent on the "core" js file being loaded, and y number of other unrelated js files. I have a couple ideas of how to go about it, but not sure what the best way is. I'd like to avoid loading scripts in the document body. So for example, I want the following 4 javascript files to load asynchronously, appropriately named: /js/my-contact-page-js-functions.js // unrelated/independent script /js/jquery-1.3.2.min.js // the "core" script /js/jquery.color.min.js // dependent on jquery being loaded http://thirdparty.com/js/third-party-tracking-script.js // another unrelated/independent script But this won't work because it's not guaranteed that jQuery is loaded before the color plugin... • iPhone images on the simulator and the actual device - different bitsPerPixel values?

  Hi there, I have code running in an iPhone application I am developing. Basically, the code needs to load an images and calls: size_t bitsPerPixel = CGImageGetBitsPerPixel(imageRef); I noticed that on the iPhone simulator this call returns 24 and the device itself it returns 32. Is this behavior by design? Is it something I can control? Thanks!

• what's the right way to cause a subview to redraw when the device orientation changes?

  I have a view controller with a view and one subview. When the device orientation changes the view auto-redraws but the subview doesn't. If I explicitly do [subview setNeedsDisplay] it redraws but I don't have a logical place to put that call in my code. And, since I don't have to explicitly tell the view to redraw, it seems counter-intuitive to tell the subview to redraw. Is there a way to make the subview auto-redraw when the view redraws?

  Is it possible to create another audio device and redirect only wanted input streams to it? Here's my concrete problem: I am broadcasting a game via XFire and it uses the Windows audio device to capture any audio I receive. As I am broadcasting, other users who watch the video stream are communicating with me over Skype, and they hear themselves back within the video stream and it is entirely logical since I am broadcasting the audio I hear. What I want to do is create another audio device within Windows and redirect (pipe) ONLY the audio input from that game and not the input reveived from Skype. I would then tell XFire to use that newly created "virtual" audio device to broadcast and therefore my partners won't hear themselves back. Is there any software that can do that or can it be achieved natively with Windows? (I am under Windows 7).

• Storage device not found on ESX4 with AIC-9410

  I am trying to install ESX 4.0 update 1 on a Supermicro X7DBR-3 system with an embedded AIC-9410 HBA (this HBA is listed on the HCG with Vendor ID 9005 and Device ID 041f) . All SATA controllers are disabled in the BIOS and the logical drive shows up in the Adaptec device summary during POST, however there is nothing listed on the Storage Device screen. The HBA itself is listed if I run esxcfg-info but not if I run esxcfg-scsidevs -a (under ESXi for that last command) Any ideas where I can look next or what might be wrong?

• Lion server profile manager, device enrollment doesn't work

  I am in the process of setting up Lion Servers profile manager to manage iPads on our local school network. I don't need to manage them while they are outside the network. I have successfully had it working on my personal network. The school network is behind a proxy which we have no control over. I can get the iPads to view the mydevices page and install a trust cert. I have managed to get an iPad to successfully install the remote management profile. After this the profile manager bugs out. It will list the active task of 'new device (sending)' but it's unable to complete the task. If I click on the device on profile manager and try any of the actions out they will all fail to complete. I am using the auto generated certificates and this works if I bring the server and iPad outside of the school network. • Logitech webcam device only recognised by one software, without drivers

  A couple weeks ago I purchased a Logitech webcam at a garage sale; It did not come with any driver DVDs or anything like that. I plugged it in, turned on my computer, and continued work as usual. I did not at the time (and still have not) gotten any drivers for the device. Recently, though, I started up an audio software named as Cubase, only to find that it was picking up audio reads off of... something. I checked my sound card, and everything else plugged into my computer, but couldn't find where in the world this audio was being picked up from. There were no microphones listed in the device managers, and no "unknown devices" or whatever. Everything seemed as it always was. Running out of ideas, i blew an air-horn directly into the general area of the webcam, located directly in front of me. Sure enough, the audio peaked, indicating that the microphone was definitely in the webcam and that Cubase was somehow picking up this audio, even without drivers. The software lists the device as a "Universal USB Microphone". Adobe Audition, Soundbooth, and other audio applications cannot find the device either. Why is it that this one software (Cubase) can use this device without a driver, while every other piece of software on the computer can't? Not even the operating system can recognize it. • Posting data from multiple servers routing through one server to client server

  I have 5 webservers behind Load balancer and we have a client server at other end. Client has white listed my 5 webserver public ip so that my webservers will post a file to the client server. Here the problem is my webservers is going to increase and i cannot always ask client to make my new webserver ip's white list. So i would like to make my infra this way, my webservers will post data to the client server routing from a single server. Like assume that web-1 is main server and the remaining 4 web servers will post data to client server routing through main web-1. I was told that this can be achieved by doing IP Tunneling. But i have no idea how to do that. Would be great for any kind of help.

I entered the code from Android to desktop. This made my phone show a window showing 'Waiting for device' and a progress bar running all over again. Than I tried to use 'I'm not near my computer' option on Android. I am asked for email, password and a recovery key. So I googled a little and found an instruction. I go to Options/Sync. • Windows not remembering default audio device?

  I prefer the audio output on my computer to use the standard audio jack output due to volume issues. But I am using a monitor with HDMI. I have chosen to set the default audio device to be "Speakers" But every time I reboot the default audio device is the HDMI Output again. I am running Windows 7 64bit. Why does it not remember the default device? (I do shutdown and boot up properly without errors.)
