  • VLOOKUP and match functions appear to be searching the function rather than value

    Vlookup and match seem to be searching based on the function I have in my cell rather than the value i have in the cell. I have a column with dates, (ex: C2, which has the formula =E2&"/"&F2&"/"&D2 in them, for example). (where E2, F2, D2 are the year, month, and date). In another sheet and column, I have a bunch of dates, and i'm using the formula =VLOOKUP(C2,'sheet2'!A1:B252,2,FALSE), which doesn't work. (returns #N/A) If I replace C2 with the same date, but without the formula (just typing it in), VLOOKUP works. Why is this?

  • Run one virtual machine on a Linux server + standard Linux functions

    Hi, I am looking for a method to setup a Linux server (running Ubuntu Server) that uses Samba for file sharing, as well as hosting a Windows virtual machine (in this case, Windows Small Business Server 2003, which in turn hosts SQL Server Express - Exchange won't be used on this). I would like to have the Linux server serving the files over Samba, and hosting the Virtual Machine. This obviously rules ESXi out as it couldn't do Samba at the same time. What would be the next best solution to give reasonable speed? Vmware Server 2.0, VirtualBox, Xen? There will be 10-15 users accessing the Samba shares and the SQL Express virtual machine. Matt

  • Moving LiveMeeting admin functions to a different window

    I run a user group, and often host LiveMeeting sessions. I use a projector, with a crowd watching. How do I do the admin stuff (respond to Q&A, etc) on one window, and just have the video on the 'extended monitor'? I dont' want the people in the audience to see anything except the video feed, but I want to be able to watch questions come in, etc... Note: I don't have a problem extending the screen across the two monitors - I already have different stuff showing on my screen compared to the projector. I just want a way to put the LM video on Monitor 2 (projector), and the LM controls on Monitor 1.

    I am purchasing a keyboard without a numeric pad (a Cooler Master Storm Rapid but my question probably applies to any keyboard without a numeric pad) I very occasionally use the numeric pad on my current keyboard, in conjunction with the Alt key, to enter special characters. If the keyboard does not make any special provision for this (no obvious keypad overlay on main section of keyboard, nothing on this subject in user-guide) - is there any way to retain this Alt+nnn capability under Windows-7?

  • Seperate external and intranet portals using the same functions .htaccess

    We are currently struggling with setting up rules for a .htaccess file for a website built upon our company product. The product is built using PLSQL and procedures can be accessed using URLs. We use this functionality to present different options to our users. These options can be injected into HTML pages using replacement tags. So, the tag [user_menu] is always replaced with: /wd_portal_cand.menu?p_web_site_id={variable1}&p_candidate_id={variable2} for external sites and /intranet/wd_portal_cand.menu?p_web_site_id={variable1}&p_candidate_id={variable2} for internal sites. The issue we are having is twofold. We need to write our .htaccess rules so that the user can access the functionality whether they are internal or external. So, the links should work as follows: http://www.example.com/wd_portal_cand.menu?p_web_site_id={variable1}&p_candidate_id={variable2} or http://www.example.com/internal/wd_portal_cand.menu?p_web_site_id={variable1}&p_candidate_id={variable2} This is the other problem. As you can see for the internal link above, the procedure needs to be prefixed with internal instead or intranet. We cannot change this in our standard tags as this will affect other sites so we need to achieve this also using htaccess. Could anyone assist with this issue? I apologise if this is brief or confusing but it's something i've never done before and have been given the task of doing. I apologise for the lack of code that will be posted above however I am a front end developer and have been left to make these changes having no prior experience of .htaccess to please bare with me.

  • Restrict subversion to only allow certain functions

    I'm in a bit of a situation. We have our private subversion server that we use for development, but one of our government clients is requesting access to our commit logs so that they can get an up-to-date picture of what we've been doing on the system. I don't have a problem with them reading our commit logs, but what I do have a problem with is them having access to our source code - they can't have read or write. The obvious solution is to do an svn log ourselves and give them an export, but they want direct SVN access as they apparently have an auditing solution that will import the svn log command automagically. So, is there a way I can set up access to a subversion repo and deny them access to everything except svn log? I don't care if I have to set up a virtualhost just for this, but it has to be done over http(s). We're also using LDAP for authentication if that makes any difference.

    I have problem I'm hoping someone could help me with. I have five different text values in 5 cells. I am trying to combine these values into one cell with a comma in between each. However the trick is that if there is no value in (H6) then it must place the word "and" between the cell (F6) and (G6). If there is a value in (H6) then place the word "and" between (G6) and (H6). In the same statement I must also include If there is not value in (G6) then it must place the word "and" between the cell E6 and F6. Please see image attached. I am trying to get the highlighted statements into one cell. So multiple IF statements into one cell.     In writing functions my brain always spends a few milliseconds to check which order of parameters would be best for a given function. should I write: public Comment AddComment(long userID, string title, string text) Or probably: public Comment AddComment(string title, string text, long userID) Why not: public Comment AddComment(string title, long userID, string text) Do you follow any rules when ordering the parameters for your functions? Which parameter would you place first and which would follow?

  • CodeIgniter's Scaffolding and Helper Functions Not Working

    Hi, I'm following CodeIgniter's tutorial "Create a blog in 20 minutes" and I am having trouble getting the helper, anchor and Scaffolding functions to work. I can't seem to create links on my HTML page using the helper and anchor functions. I put $this->load->helper('url'); $this->load->helper('form'); in the constructor under parent::Controller(); and <p>&lt;?php anchor('blog/comments','Comments'); ?&gt;</p> within the foreach loop as specified in the tutorial. But Im not getting the links to appear. Secondly, I keep getting a 404 Page Not Found error whenever I try to access CodeIgniter's Scaffolding page in my browser, like so: localhost/codeignitor/index.php/blog/scaffolding/mysecretword I can access localhost/codeignitor/index.php/blog just fine. I followed CodeIgnitor's instructions in their "Create a blog in 20 minutes" by storing my database settings in the database.php file; and automatically connecting to the database by inserting "database" in the core array of the autoload.php; and I've added both parent::Controller(); and $this->load->scaffolding('myTableName') to blog's constructor. It still gives me this 404. Any assistance will be appreciated. Thanks in advance?

  • Where to find algorithms for standard math functions?

    I'm looking to submit a patch to the D programming language standard library that will allow much of std.math to be evaluated at compile time using the compile-time function evaluation facilities of the language. Compile-time function evaluation has several limitations, the most important ones being: You can't use assembly language. You can't call C code or code for which the source is otherwise unavailable. Several std.math functions violate these and compile-time versions need to be written. Where can I get information on good algorithms for computing things such as logarithms, exponents, powers, and trig functions? I prefer just high level descriptions of algorithms to actual code, for two reasons: To avoid legal ambiguity and the need to make my code look "different enough" from the source to make sure I own the copyright. I want simple, portable algorithms. I don't care about micro-optimization as long as they're at least asymptotically efficient. Edit: D's compile time function evaluation model allows floating point results computed at compile time to differ from those computed at runtime anyhow, so I don't care if my compile-time algorithms don't give exactly the same result as the runtime version as long as they aren't less accurate to a practically significant extent.

  • Using .NET XmlSerializer with get properties and setter functions

    I'm trying to use XmlSerializer from C# to save out a class that has some values that are read by properties (the code being just a simple retrieval of field value) but set by setter functions (since there is a delegate called if the value changes). What I'm currently doing is this sort of thing. The intended use is to use the InT property to read the value, and use SetInT to set it. Setting it has side-effects, so a method is more appropriate than a property here. XmlSerializationOnly_InT exists solely for the benefit of the XmlSerializer (hence the name), and shouldn't be used by normal code. class X { public double InT { get { return _inT; } } public void SetInT(double newInT) { if (newInT != _inT) { _inT = newInT; Changed();//includes delegate call; potentially expensive } } private double _inT; // not called by normal code, as the property set is not just a simple // field set or two. [XmlElement(ElementName = "InT")] public double XmlSerializationOnly_InT { get { return InT; } set { SetInT(value); } } } This works, it's easy enough to do, and the XML file looks like you'd expect. It's manual labour though, and a bit ugly, so I'm only somewhat satisfied. What I'd really like is to be able to tell the XML serialization to read the value using the property, and set it using the setter function. Then I wouldn't need XmlSerializationOnly_InT at all. I seem to be following standard practise by distinguishing between property sets and setter functions in this way, so I'm sure I'm not the only person to have encountered this (though google suggests I might be). What have others done in this situation? Is there some easy way to persuade the XmlSerializer to handle this sort of thing better? If not, is there perhaps some other easy way to do it?

Inside the function i call 2 other functions that use getJSON and POST (with json as a return object) to get some data.     Alright, so a couple days ago I decided to try and write a primitive wrapper for the PARI library. Ever since then I've been playing with ctypes library in loading the dll and accessing the functions contained using code similar to the following: from ctypes import * libcyg=CDLL("<path/cygwin1.dll") #It needs cygwin to be loaded. Not sure why. pari=CDLL("<path>/libpari-gmp-2.4.dll") print pari.fibo #fibonacci function #prints something like "<_FuncPtr object at 0x00BA5828>" So the functions are there and they can potentially be accessed, but I always recieve an access violation no matter what I try. For example: pari.fibo(5) #access violation pari.fibo(c_int(5)) #access violation pari.fibo.argtypes=[c_long] #setting arguments manually pari.fibo.restype=long #set the return type pari.fibo(byref(c_int(5))) #access violation reading 0x04 consistently and any variation on that, including setting argtypes to receive pointers. The Pari .dll is written in C and the fibonacci function's syntax within the library is GEN fibo(long x) (docs @http://pari.math.u-bordeaux.fr/dochtml/html/Arithmetic_functions.html#fibonacci, I need more rep it seems). Could it be the return type that's causing these errors, as it is not a standard int or long but a GEN type, which is unique to the PARI library? Any help would be appreciated. If anyone is able to successfully load the library and use ANY function from within python, please tell; I've been at this for hours now.

I have been trying to find a way to have the Past and Future properties mapped automagically by Nhibernate. The closest I came was where clause on the mapping as follows HasMany(x => x.PastDates) .AsBag().Cascade .AllDeleteOrphan() .KeyColumnNames.Add("EventId").Where("Date < currentdate()") .Inverse(); Where currentdate is a UDF. I do not want to have these database specific functions if I can avoid it, mostly because i can't then test my DAL with SQLite as it doesn't support functions or stored procedures. At the moment I am building the past and future collections using Criteria and adding to my DTO manually. Anyone know how this could be achieved without using any UDFs? Many thanks,

    Lately I have been interested in the code behind chatroulette.com. As you probably know it is a peer-to-peer webcam-chat-service written in actionscript, as I understand. What i have been wondering about is weather its possible to extract the ip-address of whomever you are currently communicating with. I have seen services that do that, but they require that you install a program that runs alongside on your computer sniffing UDP-packages. I was wondering if there was a simpler method. What I do know is that the javascript on the page communicates with the application via "ExternalInterface". On this area I am pretty much a novice but according to my limited understanding you cant get information from the flash-application unless you have configured a listener for a call from javascript and then attach a callback to that event. Is this correct or can you access public functions and variables directly through javascript? There is for example a public function like this: public function get outgoingAddress():String{ return (this.__info.outgoingAddress); } Can it be accessed directly through javascript? If it cant be done so easily, is it possible to decompile the .swf-file, change it (add some functions) and recompile it and run it instead? I am hoping someone can satisfy my curiosity here.     This question, asked this morning, made me wonder which features you think are missing from the C++ Standard Library, and how you have gone about filling the gaps with wrapper functions. For example, my own utility library has this function for vector append: template <class T> std::vector<T> & operator += ( std::vector<T> & v1, const std::vector <T> v2 ) { v1.insert( v1.end(), v2.begin(), v2.end() ); return v1; } and this one for clearing (more or less) any type - particularly useful for things like std::stack: template <class C> void Clear( C & c ) { c = C(); } I have a few more, but I'm interested in which ones you use? Please limit answers to wrapper functions - i.e. no more than a couple of lines of code.
