• New Time Zone Patch DST V18 is available

  Sorry for not updating the blog more often at the moment - but more updates will come soon as I play around with Oracle Restart and single instance databases in ASM with Oracle 11.2. Just on the side there's a new time zone patch to DST V18 available since May 2012. You can download it via PATCH download from MOS with the patch number: 13417321 What do you think? Will Lufthansa operate a faster jet the other night? Will the jet stream be more powerful? Or a better type of fuel? Or is it just the travel portal which hasn't applied the correct time zone patches to catch DST change that night in the US whereas it happens two weeks later in Europe? Guess ... • Access Control Service v2

  A Resource-STS (others call it RP-STS or federation gateway) is a necessity for non-trivial federated identity scenarios. ADFS v2 does an excellent job in fulfilling that role – but (as of now) you have to run ADFS on-premise. The Azure Access Control Service is a Resource-STS in the cloud (with all the usual scalability/availability) promises. Unfortunately a lot of (the more interesting) features in ACS v1 had to be cut due to constrained time/resources. The good news is that ACS v2 is now in CTP and brings back a lot of the missing features (like WS* support) and adds some really sweet new ones (out of the box federation with Google, Facebook, LiveID – and OpenId in general). On a related note – ACS v2 works out of the box with StarterSTS – simply choose the ADFS v2 option and point the management portal to the StarterSTS WS-Federation metadata endpoint. Have fun ;)

• Demonstration Image BIC2G for Partners (OBI, Exalytics, BI-Apps, and EPM)

  There is now available the new version of the VirtualBox Demonstration Image, "BIC2g 2012-10" for Partners; including support for OBI, Exalytics, BI Applications, and EPM Hyperion applications. This is a demonstration, training and POV image that contains BI/Exalytics, BI Applications, and EPM product (software). It was originally developed to support internal Oracle Exalytics training, and has been expanded to include BI Applications. It is an OVA virtual appliance that can be imported into VirtualBox. Details can be found in the BIC2g Partner Edition Exalytics Readme and BIC2g Partner Edition Deployment Guide, and it can be downloaded from the Partner FTP site at /static/BIC2G (see BI Solutions Engineering Partner Portal for connection information and further detail on Demonstration Images for Partners).

• What is the best way to pass data into an API from a website?

  My main objective is to create a User Interface in order to provision(change the status: activate, deactivate, or suspend) modems. I have received a SOAP developer's guide to the specific type of modem that helps out with the specific values that I need to pass into Iridium's WSDL but I cannot figure out how to do this from a webpage I have created using HTML/CSS, and PHP? I have been told by others that I need to know the portal. I have no idea what that means. I am a beginner programmer who has learned programming for this project. Any suggestions as to how to pass my data into the provisioning API?

• Thinktecture IdentityServer Azure Edition RC

  I found some time over the holidays to finalize the Azure edition of IdentityServer. http://identityserver.codeplex.com/releases/view/81206 The biggest difference to the on-premise version (and earlier Azure betas) is, that by default IdSrv now uses Azure Storage for all data storage (configuration & user data). This means that there is no need anymore for SQL Azure (which is still supported out of the box – just not the default anymore). The download includes a readme file with setup instructions. In a nutshell: Create a new hosted service and upload your certificates Modify the service configuration file in the download to your needs (signing cert, connection strings to storage…) Deploy the package via the portal or other tools Use the new Powershell scripts to add users If you encounter any problem, please give me feedback.

• New MyOracleSupport (MOS)Interface Coming 13 July 2012

  On July 13, 2012, we plan to upgrade the My Oracle Support HTML-based user interface (UI) with additional functionality that will allow those users remaining on the Flash-based user interface to switch over to the HTML version. Our goal is to provide a single-online support portal so that all My Oracle Support users can benefit from the same features and functionality. Prior to July 13, 2012, users of Oracle On Demand, Oracle CRM On Demand, Taleo, and Oracle Configuration Manager should continue accessing the My Oracle Support Flash-based user interface. After July 13, 2012, the above features and functionality to support these users will be available on the HTML interface. All other users of My Oracle Support can make the switch now. Benefits of using the HTML-based user interface include: Streamlined, three-step process for initiating new Service Requests (SRs) Single, consistent workflow for both hardware and software incidents Enhanced personalization and filtering within the user interface New accessibility features (enabling screen readers, large fonts, etc.) Additionally, please note Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) will no longer be supported. • Amazon GameCircle Integration

  I'm trying to integrate Amazon GameCircle and I have been able to successfully initialize GameCircle in my app, but the problem is when I click on the button that displays achievements, the GameCircle achievement list comes up but it says "You have unlocked 0 of 0 achievements". Same happens with leaderboards i.e there are no leaderboards for this app. I have created a Leaderboard and a few achievements on the online developer portal for Amazon but they don't show for some reason. Can someone help me with this. Any links/resources that help with integrating GameCircle will be appreciated. Thanks.
