  • C++ initializing constants and inheritance

    - by pingvinus
I want to initialize constant in child-class, instead of base class. And use it to get rid of dynamic memory allocation (I know array sizes already, and there will be a few child-classes with different constants). So I try: class A { public: const int x; A() : x(0) {} A(int x) : x(x) {} void f() { double y[this->x]; } }; class B : A { B() : A(2) {} }; Pretty simple, but compiler says: error C2057: expected constant expression How can I say to compiler, that it is really a constant?

  • PHP: How do I have a variable hhtp-header value for my GET request?

    - by Cortopasta
I want the user to submit an answer to a question, then upon submission be redirected back to the page where they asked the question and I can't seem to get this to work: if (!isset($_POST['answer']) && !isset($_POST['verse'])) { echo "Please fill out form."; } elseif (!isset($_POST['answer']) || !isset($_POST['verse'])) { echo "one field left blank"; } else { $user->submitAnswer($question_id); header("Location: welcome.php?question_id=$question_id"); exit; } What am I doing wrong? EDIT: Sorry, wasn't very clear. I'm trying to pass the variable $question_id to the header(location: part so that it will pull up the question they were just on and show the answer they posted

  • Why does _GET in PHP wrongly decodes slash?

    - by Boaz
Hi, Today I run into some oddity with PHP, which I fail find a proper explanation for in the documentation. Consider the following code: <?php echo $_GET['t']. PHP_EOL; ?> The code is simple - it takes a single t parameter on the url and outputs it back. So if you call it with test.php?t=%5Ca (%5c is a '\'), I expected to see: \a However, this is what I got: $ curl http://localhost/~boaz/test.php?t=%5Ca \\a Notice the double slash. Can anyone explains what's going on and give recipe for retrieving the strings as it was supplied on the URL? Thanks, Boaz

  • Is there a linear-time performance guarantee with using an Iterator?

    - by polygenelubricants
If all that you're doing is a simple one-pass iteration (i.e. only hasNext() and next(), no remove()), are you guaranteed linear time performance and/or amortized constant cost per operation? Is this specified in the Iterator contract anywhere? Are there data structures/Java Collection which cannot be iterated in linear time? java.util.Scanner implements Iterator<String>. A Scanner is hardly a data structure (e.g. remove() makes absolutely no sense). Is this considered a design blunder? Is something like PrimeGenerator implements Iterator<Integer> considered bad design, or is this exactly what Iterator is for? (hasNext() always returns true, next() computes the next number on demand, remove() makes no sense). Similarly, would it have made sense for java.util.Random implements Iterator<Double>?

  • PHP Form checkbox question

    - by Sef
    Hello, I have a form that takes the following inputs: Name: IBM Surface(in m^2): 9 Floor: (Checkbox1) Phone: (Checkbox2) Network: (Checkbox3) Button to send to a next php page. All those values above are represented in a table when i press the submit button. The first two (name and surname) are properly displayed in the table. The problem is with the checkboxes. If i select the first checkbox the value in the table should be presented with 1. If its not selected the value in the table should be empty. echo "<td>$Name</td>"; // works properly echo "<td>$Surface</td>"; // works properly echo "<td>....no idea for the checkboxes</td>; Some part of my php code with the variables: <?php if (!empty($_POST)) { $standnaam = $_POST["name"]; $oppervlakte = $_POST["surface"]; $verdieping = $_POST["floor"]; $telefoon = $_POST["telefoon"]; $netwerk = $_POST["netwerk"]; if (is_numeric($surface)) { $_SESSION["name"]=$name; $_SESSION["surface"]=$surface; header("Location:ExpoOverzicht.php"); } else { echo "<h1>Wrong input, Pleasee fill in again</h1>"; } if(!empty($floor) && ($phone) && ($network)) { $_SESSION["floor"]=$floor; $_SESSION["phone"]=$phone; $_SESSION["network"]=$network; header("Location:ExpoOverzicht.php"); } } ?> Second page with table: <?php $name= $_SESSION["name"]; $surface= $_SESSION["surface"]; $floor= $_SESSION["floor"]; $phone= $_SESSION["phone"]; $network= $_SESSION["network"]; echo "<table class=\"tableExpo\">"; echo "<th>name</th>"; echo "<th>surface</th>"; echo "<th>floor</th>"; echo "<th>phone</th>"; echo "<th>network</th>"; echo "<th>total price</th>"; for($i=0; $i <= $_SESSION["name"]; $i++) { echo "<tr>"; echo "<td>$name</td>"; // gives right output echo "<td>$surface</td>"; // gives right output echo "<td>...</td>"; //wrong output (ment for checkbox 1) echo "<td>...</td>"; //wrong output (ment for checkbox 2) echo "<td>...</td>"; //wrong output (ment for checkbox 3) echo "<td>....</td>"; echo "</tr>;"; } echo "</table>"; <form action="<?php echo $_SERVER["PHP_SELF"]; ?>" method="post" id="form1"> <h1>Vul de gegevens in</h1> <table> <tr> <td>Name:</td> <td><input type="text" name="name" size="18"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Surface(in m^2):</td> <td><input type="text" name="surface" size="6"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Floor:</td> <td><input type="checkbox" name="floor" value="floor"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Phone:</td> <td><input type="checkbox" name="phone" value="phone"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Network:</td> <td><input type="checkbox" name="network" value="network"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td><input type="submit" name="verzenden" value="Verzenden"/></td> </tr> </table> There might be a few spelling mistakes since i had to translate it. Best regards.

  • [java] how to use XML sent by html form?

    - by user32167
i have html form with textarea in which i paste some XML, for example: <network ip_addr="10.0.0.0/8" save_ip="true"> <subnet interf_used="200" name="lan1" /> <subnet interf_used="254" name="lan2" /> </network> When user submit form, that data is send to Java server, so in headers i get something like that: GET /?we=%3Cnetwork+ip_addr%3D%2210.0.0.0%2F8%22+save_ip%3D%22true%22%3E%0D%0A%3Csubnet+interf_used%3D%22200%22+name%3D%22lan1%22+%2F%3E%0D%0A%3Csubnet+interf_used%3D%22254%22+name%3D%22lan2%22+%2F%3E%0D%0A%3C%2Fnetwork%3E HTTP/1.1 how can i use that in my Java applications? I need to make some calculations on that data and re-send new generated XML.

  • Floating point precision nuances.

    - by user247077
Hi, I found this code in NVIDIA's cuda SDK samples. void computeGold( float* reference, float* idata, const unsigned int len) { reference[0] = 0; double total_sum = 0; unsigned int i; for( i = 1; i < len; ++i) { total_sum += idata[i-1]; reference[i] = idata[i-1] + reference[i-1]; } // Here it should be okay to use != because we have integer values // in a range where float can be exactly represented if (total_sum != reference[i-1]) printf("Warning: exceeding single-precision accuracy. Scan will be inaccurate.\n"); } (C) Nvidia Corp Can somebody please tell me a case where the warning would be printed, and most importantly, why. Thank you very much.

  • What's your favorite programmable calculator?

    - by Pat Notz
The HP-32S still holds a soft spot in my heart, even though it only had 4 registers. I have fond memories of writing a nonlinear solver for finding an azeotrope curve during a Thermodynamics final. Despite the increase in power, memory, pixels and features the HP-32G that followed never could steal my heart away. Here's to you, HP-32S. Let's hear it, what's your favorite programmable calculator? As with all poll type questions, do NOT submit a new answer unless your answer is not represented. Vote up your answer instead of adding yet another TI-85 or HP-49 to the list, and add comments to that answer if you want to relate specifics. EDIT: I moved my photo into an answer for polling.

  • How can I test my iPhone app on earlier than SDK 3.0 simulator, make sure it work?

    - by Cocorico
Hi Stackers! I wrote iPhone application. Very simple! It use Cocos2D only, and all other features is very basic, no accelerometer, no camera, nothing. Just buttons and sounds. I think every iPhone can run this app (there is no limits on Cocos2D right?), but my XCode only let me use 3.0 and upwards. I want to confirm 1 thing and ask one thing: If I put "iPhone OS 2.0" in my iPhone OS Deployment Target in XCode, but my "Active SDK" in XCode still says 3.0, if I compile using this and submit to App Store, when it goes up, people who use 2.0 can still download and use the game yes? Is there way I can test in a 2.0 simulator to make sure it works? My XCode only have 3.0 and higher simulation.

  • Replicate Printed Form With Web Form

    - by Michael
I'm hoping people have some ideas to help solve this problem. I am developing a C# ASP.NET website and the client requires an online form that users will fill in and submit. OK, so far so good..... Imagine, say, a form that you fill in on paper - they normally have a distinctive look specific to the company and will be filed, quite possibly as a legally binding document. I need to have an online form that when submitted emails the client with something they can print out and will look exactly like their printed forms. As this is web based, I think the option of capturing a screenshot are out the question, so I'm wondering how best to approach this? Even if I just had a form that captures the data presented how I want, how could I translate this data into the view they want? Any ideas and suggestions greatly appreciated.

  • Adjusting for compass wrap around in a navigation application

    - by chris12892
I have a application where I am guiding a vehicle on compass headings and I am having an issue when the vehicle is crossing from 360 degrees to 0 degrees. In this case, there are no smarts in the control loop to compute that the nearest way to turn to follow a heading. For example, if the vehicle is instructed to follow a heading of 360 degrees, it will inevitably drifts a few degrees to ether side. If it drifts over to 0+ degrees, the control loop will go nuts and try to steer the vehicle all the way around to get it to 360 degrees again. Is there a graceful way to deal with this? The way the navigate function is written, I use an external PID controller class and I calculate the heading like this: lock (steering) { if (!Engaged) { return; } double mv = 90 + Trim + pidController.CalculateCorrection(flyHeading, currentHeading); steering.Degree = mv; } Thanks!

  • Java - Could not find the main class?

    - by asmo
I'm having a hard-time with a Java error. I'm getting this when double-clicking on my compiled project Jar file in order to run it: Could not find the main class: testPackage.testFrame. Program will exit. However, my main class is cleary defined in the project properties. Furthermore, everything works fine when I run the project directly from NetBeans. I'm using the ip2c.jar third-party library to determine countries from IP addresses. If I comment the class that is using the ip2c.jar file, I don't get the error. How can a third-party library be preventing the JVM from finding my main class?

  • Zend Framework: isValid() clears values from disabled form fields!

    - by Andrew
When you submit a form, disabled form fields are not submitted in the request. So if your form has a disabled form field, it makes working with Zend_Form::isValid() a little frustrating. $form->populate($originalData); $form->my_text_field->disabled = 'disabled'; if (!$form->isValid($_POST)) { //form is not valid //since my_text_field is disabled, it doesn't get submitted in the request //isValid() will clear the disabled field value, so now we have to re-populate the field $form->my_text_field->value($originalData['my_text_field']); $this->view->form = $form; return; } // if the form is valid, and we call $form->getValues() to save the data, our disabled field value has been cleared! Without having to re-populate the form, and create duplicate lines of code, what is the best way to approach this problem?

  • How to do MVC form url formatting?

    - by dqhendricks
I am using PHP. I want to create an MVC setup from scratch to learn more about how MVC works. I want to use clean urls with slashes as delimiters for the arguments. How do people do this when it comes to GET method forms? Or do people avoid GET method forms all together? As of right now the ways I can imagine are: Don't use GET method forms (although this makes it harder to let users bookmark/link in some cases). Use AJAX instead of form submission (although what do you do for SEO and JS disablers?). Have page submit to itself with post method, then reform the post vars into an url, then rerout to that url using headers (seems like wasted resources). Any suggestions or suggested reading welcome.

  • uitextfield delegate must be file's owner?

    - by deafgreatdane
I've seen a few references (eg here) in response to folks having trouble getting the keyboard to dismiss in iPhone that say "double check that the delegate is attached to file's owner. Is this necessarily true? Or just standard practice? Can't I have other objects in my nib, such as a subclass of UIViewController, and make connections to those as I like? I'd hate to have to route everything into the object that happens to be file owner. That said, I'm having a difficult time getting the keyboard to disappear. I know it's connected to the delegate, because I can set break points and step through the code. I can see the [theTextField resignFirstResponder] get called (and return true), but the keyboard still won't go away. Any other suggestions?

  • HTML form submits and the hostname changes to IP address

    - by Shamik
I am facing a peculiar problem. The problem is, my webapp is being installed behind a proxy. The request gets submitted to the proxy which forwards the request to the original host that is running the websphere web application. The problem I am facing is, when I access the webapp, its URL looks like the below http://www.myproxy.com Lets say I get a form on this URL, when I submit the form, it is getting submitted to another URL - http://10.1.2.87 Since the URL is changing, application server thinks it is a different session and throws the login page again. The login page comes thru a filter which checks whether user is already authenticated in the session or not. I do not have much knowledge on proxy settings .. where do you think is the problem?

  • Get Average Using LINQ

    - by obautista
Hoping someone can help me with the LINQ syntax to calculate an average. For example, I have the following LINQ query: var rates = from rating in ctx.Rates where rating.Id == Id select new { UserId = rating.UserId, Rating = rating.Rating }; If 10 records are returned, I need to calculate average on the Rating field. It is defined as as a Double in my DB. I am using LINQ to EF. So I would be assigning the UserId, MiscId, and the Rating would be the average on the records returned. I am passing one object back to the client code.

  • Drupal Webforms module - Form results say "Array" instead of form values

    - by Doc Falken
I have a simple form built with the Webforms module in Drupal. The standard textfield form fields work perfectly. However if I use the preset date or time form values, they don't get emailed properly when the form is submitted. For instance, if there was a date field in my form, it would submit fine and render on the results page just fine, but if I wanted that value to be included in an email, it would show up as "Array" within the text of the email instead of showing the date. There is an open support issue within the module issues page, but I'm hoping for any additional help.

  • How do set default values in django for an HttpRequest.GET?

    - by Mike
I have a webpage that displays data based on a default date. The user can then change their view of the data by slecting a date with a date picker and clicking a submit button. I already have a variable set so that if no date is chosen, a default date is used.... so what's the problem? The problem comes if the user trys to type in the url page without a parameter... like so: http://mywebpage/viewdata (example A) instead of http://mywebpage/viewdata?date= (example B) I tried using: if request.method == 'GET': but apparently, even example A still returns true. I'm sure I'm doing some obvious beginner's mistake but I'll ask anyway... Is there a simpler way to handle example A other than passing the url to a string and checking the string for "?date="?

  • Filtering results and pagination

    - by alj
I have a template that shows a filter form and below it a list of the result records. I bind the form to the request so that the filter form sets itself to the options the user submitted when the results are returned. I also use pagination. Using the code in the pagination documentation means that when the user clicks for the next page, the form data is lost. What is the best way of dealing with pagination and filtering in this way? Passing the querystring to the paginiation links. Change the pagination links to form buttons and therefore submit the filter form at the same time, but this assumes that the user hasn't messed about with the filter options. As above but with the original data as hidden fields. ALJ
