• Ttstyledtextlabel does not draw properly when text property is assigned multiple times

  I have A ttstyledtextlabel in my uitableview cell. It has got some web URLs for images which are being rendered. But since images take some time to download i reload the cell after sometime to render the images if they have been downloaded. The problem I am facing is that during subsequent assignment of text if the size of the label changes, happens when images have been successfully loaded the label does not render properly but rather blanks out. But I see the proper label when is scroll and come back to the cell again. Anyone faced this issue or simply when the following line is executed multiple times, the Styled Label goes blank StyledView.text = [TTStyledText textFromXHTML:[self getStyledText] lineBreaks:YES URLs:YES];

• WebUIView is very slow

  Hello, I'm building a custom RSS reader app with incorporated feed link view (UIWebView). Using the following code, when the view, containing WebUIView is loaded, it takes about 6 seconds before anything is outputted to the user: -(void)viewDidLoad{ [super viewDidLoad]; NSString *urlString = [[[self appDelegate] currentlySelectedBlogItem]linkUrl]; NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:urlString]; NSURLRequest *requestObj = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:url]; [_webview loadRequest:requestObj]; [_webview setScalesPageToFit:YES]; } Any ideas why UIWebView is being so slow? I've checked the URL input, it's clean and what I'd expect it to be. I'm building for iOS 3.0 as base deployment target.

• Rails - Why is my custom validation being triggered for only a build command.

  I have a sentence and correction model with a has_one and belongs_to relationship respectively. For some reason when I do def create @sentence = Sentence.find(params[:sentence_id]) @correction = @sentence.build_correction(params[:correction]) a custom validation I wrote for Correction is being called at the build_correction point. the validation is below class Correction < ActiveRecord::Base attr_accessible :text, :sentence_id, :user_id belongs_to :sentence belongs_to :user validate :correction_is_different_than_sentence def correction_is_different_than_sentence errors.add(:text, "can't be the same as the original sentence.") if (text == self.sentence.text) end the problem is for some reason on validation the correction object doesn't have the sentence id set (despite I used the build_correction method) and so it complains "you have nil object .... while executing nil.text" in the if clause in the validation above. So my question is why is the validation occuring for a build command, i thought it only triggers on a create or update. And why isnt the sentence_id getting set?

• .save puts NULL in user_id field in Ruby on Rails

  Here's the model file: class ProfileTag < ActiveRecord::Base def self.create_or_update(options = {}) id = options.delete(:id) record = find_by_id(id) || new record.id = id record.attributes = options puts "record.profile_id is" puts record.profile_id record.save! record end end This gives me the correct print out in my log. But it also says that there's a call to UPDATE that sets profile_id to NULL. I'm not sure I understand why the INSERT puts the value into profile_id properly, but then it sets it to NULL on an UPDATE. If you need more specifics, please let me know. I'm thinking that the save functionality does many things other than INSERTs into the database, but I don't know what I need to specify so that it will properly set profile_id.

  Hi I know there are many questions on this, but I don't get it to work. I present a UITabBarController with the presentModalViewController. However when I try to get title from the navigationItem title attribute in the UINavigationController class that presents the tabcontroller, it returns nil no matter what I do. I have the NSLog in the viewDidLoad method in tabcontroller class. I also cast the UIViewController which is returned by the self.parentViewController property. Then I try to access the title through: NSLog(@"%@", castedViewController.navigationItem.title); Any suggestions?

  How to get a concurrent method? In my case, the library would be called from a program to get a value to each argument str --in method Get()--. When it's used Get() then it assigns a variable from type bytes.Buffer which it will have the value to return. The returned values --when it been concurrently called-- will be stored into a database or a file and it doesn't matter that its output been of FIFO way (from method). type test struct { foo uint8 bar uint8 } func NewTest(arg1 string) (*test, os.Error) {...} func (self *test) Get(str string) ([]byte, os.Error) { var format bytes.Buffer ... } I think that all code inner of method Get() should be put inner of go func() {...}(), and then to use a channel. • Architecture for analysing search result impressions/clicks to improve future searches

  We have a large database of items (10m+) stored in MySQL and intend to implement search on metadata on these items, taking advantage of something like Sphinx. The dataset will be changing slightly on a daily basis so Sphinx will be re-indexing daily. However we want the algorithm to self-learn and improve search results by analysing impression and click data so that we provide better results for our customers on that search term, and possibly other similar search terms too. I've been reading up on Hadoop and it seems like it has the potential to crunch all this data, although I'm still unsure how to approach it. Amazon has tutorials for compiling impression vs click data using MapReduce but I can't see how to get this data in a useable format. My idea is that when a search term comes in I query Sphinx to get all the matching items from the dataset, then query the analytics (compiled on an hourly basis or similar) so that we know the most popular items for that search term, then cache the final results using something like Memcached, Membase or similar. Am I along the right lines here?

• App closes after facebook login in IOS 5

  I am using facebook sdk 3.1 framework for my application. The login process works successfully and returns to the app after facebook login both in simulator(iOS 6.0 and 5.0) and in iPad(iOS 6). But When the same is deployed in IPad with IOS 5, after login, it does not return back to my application and shows a blank white Screen or sometimes my application closes. I dont know what went wrong in iOS 5 and facebook sdk 3.1 framework, also i am not getting any logs to debug... • Multiple conditions with will_paginate

  I am using will_paginate for pagination but I can't seem to use more than one condition at a time. For example, if I want to have a sql query that ends in "Where office_id = 5", then it's pretty straight forward, I can do that. but what if I want to do "Where office_id = 5 AND primary_first = 'Mark'"? I can't do that. I have no idea how to enter multiple conditions. Can you help?? I have a Nib with a view that has a class identity set to TestView In my view controller, I use the following code: CGRect myRect = CGRectMake(0, 0, 320,240); TestView *myTest = [[TestView alloc] initWithFrame:myRect]; [self.view addSubview:myTest]; I have a NSLog in the TestView class's initWithFrame that fires when the above code is executed, but the view doesn't appear in the view controllers view. • Dynamic creation of a pointer function in c++

  I was working on my advanced calculus homework today and we're doing some iteration methods along the lines of newton's method to find solutions to things like x^2=2. It got me thinking that I could write a function that would take two function pointers, one to the function itself and one to the derivative and automate the process. This wouldn't be too challenging, then I started thinking could I have the user input a function and parse that input (yes I can do that). But can I then dynamically create a pointer to a one-variable function in c++. For instance if x^2+x, can I make a function double function(double x){ return x*x+x;} during run-time. Is this remotely feasible, or is it along the lines of self-modifying code?

• How does one refer to the game1 class's variables in XNA

  I try to refer to an array in the Game1 class by creating an object of the Game1 class with its definition Game1 gameObject; , its declaration gameObject = new Game1(); in the constructor, and its usage gameObject.tileArray[xInt, yInt].treed = true;. The game1 class itself remains unchanged in its class code other than some methods and variables. When I try to use this code in the TreeRegion class it gives me "Object reference not set to an instance of an object," leading me to believe that the game1 class is null somehow. How might one change the class or object in order to refer to game1's variables? Mind you I am self-taught and still rather new to C#.   I want to check if the text inserted in a textfield is also in my NSMutableArray. So let's say my NSMutableArray has these objects: "Hey, Hello, No, Yes".   hi i have a textview and i want to get the selectedRange.location value from that textview. in the first time when the keyboard appear, the location value always show an integer point such as 110, or others. But if i dissappear the keyboard and then appear the keyboard again, the location value always show 2147483647. What is this 2147483647 mean and how to get the real location value?   I am using Zend_Db to insert some data inside a transaction. My function starts a transaction and then calls another method that also attempts to start a transaction and of course fails(I am using MySQL5). So, the question is - how do I detect that transaction has already been started? • JQuery: How to perform a "push" slide, not a slide up?

  I using the following JQuery: $("#pushSlideDiv").slideDown("fast"); However, this creates a "slide" effect. Meaning, if I do a slidedown, this makes the underlining DIV reveal it's self from a top-to-bottom reveal. I want a "push" effect, where the slidedown instead reveals as though the div is being pushed onto the page ... where you first see the bottom of the div. How can I do this with JQuery? UPDATE: This isn't a great example, but it does show a push effect that I'm trying to accomplish vs a "slide" effect.

(indexing method returns based on the active language) What I have tried: I created a function that runs a loop over every available language (from settings) appending any translation to a list, evaluating this against the query, pre search. If any colors are matched it converts them backwards into their numeric representation to evaluate against obj.color, but this feels wrong.
