• Switching from form_for to remote_form_for problems with submit changes in Rails

  Hi there, another day with Rails and today I want to use Ajax. linkt_remote_link for changing a text was pretty easy so I thought it would also be easy to switch my form_for loop just to an ajax request form with remote_form_for, but the problem with the remote_form_for is that it doesn't save my changes? • Exchange 2010 Cannot send email to myself

  We have began using Exchange 2010 in production, with no issues until now. I tried to email my self a link and it does not get received. I get no error or NDA. If I track the message is shows as successfully delivered, but it has not. This happens in OWA and Outlook Anywhere. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

• Using Facebook Login to create a user?

  I've read this SO post which led me to this FB policy page, which seemed to include some pertinent information, but I'd like more of a community response, maybe some experienced FB API people who know the limits. My question is if I can use Facebook's Login api to, essentially, create a new user on my website. I really would just like to allow users to easily "transfer" some data from FB in order to more easily create a new account on my site. I realize, first and foremost, that I would obviously announce to the user that by click "submit" in the form, that they are creating a separate account on my site. Pertinent blocks on the policy page state: You may cache data you receive through use of the Facebook API in order to improve your application’s user experience, but you should try to keep the data up to date. This permission does not give you any rights to such data. Which doesn't look good for me, but also this: If you stop using Platform or we disable your application, you must delete all data you have received through use of the Facebook API unless: (a) it is basic account information; or (b) you have received explicit consent from the user to retain their data. Which, in my case, I would be satisfying part B. I would be asking the user's permission to retain the data, as I am simply using Facebook as a conveience to the user when creating an account. I also realize that Facebook has a registration API, but this would require a Facebook styled login form, along with my own sites login form, and I'd rather one interface, as this makes it easier for me on the front and back end. Any thoughts?

  What's the standard way of passing and processing an array in an HTTP request in .NET? I have a solution, but I don't know if it's the best approach. You can get the values easily by splitting the string: public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) { string[] users = context.Request.Form["user"].Split(','); } So, I already have an answer to my problem: assign multiple values to the same parameter name, assume the ASHX handler receives it as a comma-delimited string, and split the string. My question is whether or not this is how it's typically done in .NET. What's the standard practice for this? Is there a simpler way to grab the multiple values than assuming that the value is comma-delimited and calling Split() on it? Is this how arrays are typically passed in .NET, or is XML used instead? Does anyone have any insight on whether or not this is the best approach?

• .NET Splash screen issues

  I have a splash screen for my C# database application that is called via the Shown event. The splash screen contains some information that is preprocessed when the main form's constructor is called, hence why I'm using the Shown event, because that information should be available. However, when the splash screen is shown, the main form is whited out, and the menu bar, bottom menu bar, and even the gray background are all white and invisible. It looks like the program is hanging, but after the 5 second delay I have built in, the banner goes away and the program is shown normally. Also, on the banner, I have labels that are not shown when the splash screen displays... Here is my code, some reasoning behind why it isn't working would help greatly.   Like the Topic says: Our Exchange Server accidentally forwards sent mails from one User to another User's Inbox. The sent mails are mostly to Outbound Adresses and they where successfully delivered but all those sent Mails are accidentally forwarded into our Info Mail account. There are no Outlook rules defined and the forward routing in exchange is not used, for such things. I really don´t know the cause of the problem and i don´t know where I have to look, because I´m new to exchange...

  Does ASP.NET MVC offer any simple way to get model binding to work when you have model classes that inherit from others? In my scenario I have a View that is strongly typed to List<Person>. I have a couple of classes that inherit from Person, namely PersonTypeOne and PersonTypeTwo. I have three strongly typed partial views with names that match these class names (and render form elements for the properties of their respective models). This means that in my main View I can have the following code: <% for(int i = 0; i < Model.Count; i++) { Html.RenderPartial(Model[i].GetType().Name, Model[i]); } %> This works well, apart from when the user submits the form the relevant controller action method just gets a List<Person>, rather than a list of Person, PersonTypeOne and PersonTypeTwo. This is pretty much as expected as the form submission doesn't contain enough information to tell the default model binder to create any instances of PersonTypeOne and PersonTypeTwo classes. So, is there any way to get such functionality from the default model binder?

  I am trying to create a button widget for dojox.grid. My problems are: 1) The button is only shown when I double click the grid. 2) I can't figure out how to set attributes through declarative markup. It seems that the markupFactory function is responsible for it but it doesn't set the widget's label.   I just rolled out a new domain controller. I want to join all the PCS to this new domein (the PCs were never on a domain just a regular workgroup). When I join a PC to the new domain it creates a new profile. How can I migrate (or whats an easy way) the local profile to this new domain profile? Can I keep all settings, desktop layout, outlook 2003 settings etc while doing this?

• Rebind dymanically created forms after jQuery ajax response

  I'm kinda new to jQuery but understand it for the most part. My problem is that when my ajax call which refreshes the entire div is done, all my dynamically created forms don't work. If you try and submit them, the event doens't work properly and just tries to do a normal form submit. I have all the other items such as links bound using the .live() which seem to work great. Just the form dies. How do I rebind the dynamically created forms after the ajax call? They all have id of formname_id. I tried to use bind but it doesn't work as below. Any help is appreciated. • Unobtrusive, self-hosted comments function to put onto existing web pages

  I am building a new site which will consist of a mix of dynamic and static pages. I would like to add commenting functionality to those pages with as little work as possible. I'm curious as to whether such a solution exists in PHP. The ideal set of features would be: Completely independent from the surrounding page / site: PHP code gets dropped into page, a page ID is added, done. Simple "write a comment" form Comments for each page are displayed using a PHP function Nice, clean output of <ul><li>.... that can be styled by the surrounding site Optional Captcha Optional Gravatar sensitivity Minimalistic administration area to moderate/delete comments, no ACL, can protect it using .htaccess The ideal integreation would be like this: <?php show_comments("my_page_name"); ?> this would 1. display a form to add a new comment that gets automatically associtated with my_page_name; and 2. display all comments that were made through this form using this ID. Does anybody know a solution like this? Bounty I am setting up a bounty because while there were some good suggestions, they all point to external services. I'm really curious to see whether there isn't anything self-hosted around. If this doesn't exist yet, it sure would be great to see as an Open Source project.

  I have an MVC2 Application that uses MVVM pattern. I am trying use Data Annotations to validate form input. How can I get Data Annotations to work with a ViewModel? I cannot see what I'm missing or where I'm going wrong - the VM was working just fine before I started mucking around with validation.

  I have 2 tables Users and Artists. User: id name password city_id state_id country_id Artist: id user_id description I wish to create add and edit form(single form acts as add and edit). But on click of edit link, I wish to fill in the form fields from user as well as artist table. How do i do that? • Load SQL query result data into cache in advance

  I have the following situation: .net 3.5 WinForm client app accessing SQL Server 2008 Some queries returning relatively big amount of data are used quite often by a form Users are using local SQL Express and restarting their machines at least daily Other users are working remotely over slow network connections The problem is that after a restart, the first time users open this form the queries are extremely slow and take more or less 15s on a fast machine to execute. Afterwards the same queries take only 3s. Of course this comes from the fact that no data is cached and must be loaded from disk first. My question: Would it be possible to force the loading of the required data in advance into SQL Server cache? Note My first idea was to execute the queries in a background worker when the application starts, so that when the user starts the form the queries will already be cached and execute fast directly. I however don't want to load the result of the queries over to the client as some users are working remotely or have otherwise slow networks. So I thought just executing the queries from a stored procedure and putting the results into temporary tables so that nothing would be returned. Turned out that some of the result sets are using dynamic columns so I couldn't create the corresponding temp tables and thus this isn't a solution. Do you happen to have any other idea?

• Can I put iTunes in Windows 7 XP Mode and sync an iPhone from within it?

  I don't want iTunes on my laptop due to the stupidly bloated amount of system drivers and services it installs. Win7 offers XP mode which allows you to virtualise USB devices to the VM. Does anyone know if I could install iTunes into XP Mode and sync to an iPhone that way, preferably bringing in an Outlook address book from the host machine as well.

• Migrating Terminal Server profiles from 2003 to 2008 R2 "V2"

  I've done some searching and there doesn't appear to be a method of migrating old 2003 based profiles to the new "V2" profiles automatically. Specifically, we're interested in retaining the <Profile>.NK2 file in Outlook, the Favorites folder, and the Signatures folder. I'm in the process of writing a fairly complicated migration script that'll be executed at login, but seems like this is something that I shouldn't have to do. The User Migration Tool appears to only work for Vista, not 2008 R2. Any other ideas?

• JqueryUI dialog box causes button to lose styling

  Hey everyone, I'm using JQueryUI dialog boxes and, while it works, it seems to remove any CSS styling on the button that opens the dialog. I have to manually refresh the page to get the styling back. An example button which launches the dialog: (button_submit is my CSS theme and launc_popup is used to detect the button click in JQuery. <asp:Button ID="btnLaunch" CssClass="button_sub launch_popup" runat="server" Text="Dialog..." CausesValidation="false" OnClientClick="return false;" /> My jquery: $('.launch_popup').click(function() { $("#dialog-form").dialog("open"); }); My dialog-form: $("#dialog-form").dialog({ autoOpen: false, height: 300, width: 300, modal: true, buttons: { 'Close': function() { $(this).dialog('close'); } } }); This happens to all the buttons that open dialogs. Is there a way to 'restyle' the button without refreshing the page? (It's in an updatepanel if that makes a difference, although this bit's client-side so not sure if that should affect it). • Office 2007 Calendar Overlays - Combine meetings that everybody shares

  I want to display approximately 10 people's calendar in Outlook 2007 using overlays. The problem is that they all share the same meeting a couple of times a week. Thus, I see that show up 10 times on a single day, which compresses what is actually displayed. Since they are all at the same meeting(s), it would be nice to have them just display once. Is this built into Office 2007?
